The Heroes
Maggie the Cat
A cat-shaped alien who fights demons.
Tropes:
- Absurdly Sharp Blade: Despite seemingly made of wood, Maggie's sword can behead demons that are as tall as buildings.
- Action Girl: Maggie is a girl and actively hunts demons.
- Always Save the Girl: Averted. It seems that Maggie's girlfriend, Margot, was taken by Bloody Mary during the initial attack on their home planet.
- Author Avatar: Both Maggie and Toby are based off the real-life author; Tony and his cat Mae.
- Best Friend: Maggie is Tony's best friend. The friendship appears to start with her crash-landing on Earth. The shock of the events breaks Toby out of what appears to be a depression.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin
- Friend to All Living Things: Maggie's introduction depicts her slaying a demon and saving a small child.
- Goggles Do Something Unusual: Maggie wears goggles on her head as part of her demon hunting gear. She can pull them over her eyes to activate their night-vision.
- Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Maggie is most often seen wearing a shirt as a dress. This is because it's hard to find clothes for an anthropomorphic cat on Earth.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: Semi-averted. While Tony and Maggie are friends, only Tony is heterosexual. Maggie's motivation is rooted in the demons seemingly killing her girlfriend, Margot.
- Hunter of Monsters: Maggie's M.O. is to slay demons.
- Sole Survivor: It seems Maggie is the only one from her planet to survive the demon invasion.
Toby
A human who befriends Maggie after she crash lands on Earth. He opens up his home to act as her base of operations.
Tropes:
- Author Avatar: Toby, along with Maggie, are based off the real-life author, Tony, and his cat Mae.
- Conveniently Timed Attack from Behind: Toby is the one doing the attacking. He saves Maggie from Kuchisake-onna by doing one of these.
- Secret-Keeper: Toby seems to be the only human who is aware of Maggie and the demons.
The Demons
Demons in General
The highly destructive denizens of Hell.
Tropes:
- Arch-Enemy: While the demons are the unseen enemies of pretty much everyone, Maggie has a particular vendetta against them.
- Ancient Evil: Being demons, they had to have been around for quite some time.
- Animalistic Abomination: Demons vary in design, and many have animalistic features.
- Apocalypse Cult: The goal of the demons is to destroy all life-bearing planets in an event called "The Big Crunch"
- Our Demons Are Different: Demons in the series are based off all manner of things, mostly urban legends and cryptids.
The Baron
A high-ranking demon who dresses like a gentleman.
Tropes:
- Affably Evil: The Barons plays up his introduction by jump-scaring Maggie then doing a flourish as torches light up around a giant portal.
- The Baroness: A male example, both in status and name.
- Glasgow Grin: The Baron lacks flesh on his cheeks, granting him a permanent full-mouth grin.
Lillith
A humanoid demon who ranks higher than the Baron.
Tropes:
- Succubi and Incubi: Lillith is a suggestive temptress demon.
Kuchisake-onna
A demon based off a Japanese urban legend.
Tropes:
- Glasgow Grin: Like the Baron, she has one too. Unlike The Baron, Kuchisake's is due to her having Joker-style mouth scars.
Bloody Mary
A demon who appears in mirrors.
Tropes:
- Hero Killer: Her only scene, so far, is with the purpose of killing Margot.
