Main Characters
The Player
- Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: The player can choose to not make their character wear pants.
Hello Kitty
Hello Kitty runs the cafe and helps you learn all about baking delicious treats at the Oven.
- Decoy Protagonist: Downplayed Trope; Her name appears in the game's title and she's on the loading screen, but the characters are invited to the island because My Melody was asked to open a gift shop at Big Adventures Park, and decided to invite her and others along. My Melody also ends up doing more in the way restoring parts of the island during the early game, as she repairs the bridge that leads to the tutorial about restoring vacation homes and attracting visitors to the island, helps Badtz-Maru uncover the mystery about the island residents, and so on.
- Protagonist Title: Although her name appears in the game's title, she is not the game's protagonist, as the focus is divided among all of the featured characters.
- Sweet Baker: She's a sweetheart who runs the resort cafe, where her main role is to teach the player new recipes.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Apples. She also loves apple pie, with Mama's Apple Pie and Red Bow Apple Pie being worth two and three hearts as gifts for her, respectively.
My Melody
She runs the Small Gift Big Smile shop.
- Person of Mass Construction: She is the resident builder who can repair broken bridges and cabins in the span of a few seconds.
- Sweet Baker: A sweetheart who loves baking just as much as Hello Kitty.
- Sweet Tooth: Sweet Items are one of her favorite categories of items, and the player can only increase her friendship level by giving her sweets as gifts.

- Ear Wings: Uses his large ears to fly about the island, delivering packages and other mail. He also uses them to fly the player to and from fast travel points around the island.

- Secret Character: It is unlocked by completing all of the main story quests.
Island Visitors
General
- Demoted to Extra: Despite also being Sanrio characters, visitors to the island aren't given much to do, with their roles limited to giving the player an item after they arrive and one mini quest per visit, the latter of which raises the island's star rating once completed. As well, unlike the main characters, they cannot be gifted anything because they lack friendship levels, and they also contribute nothing to the overall story of the island restoration.
- Gameplay and Story Segregation: The island visitors claim to be on vacation but are restricted to wandering the area in front of their house instead of exploring the island. They also are unable to go inside their homes, despite the players being tasked with decorating them in order to attract them to the island in the first place.
Dear Daniel
A charming, sophisticated world traveler and photographer. He also happens to be Hello Kitty's boyfriend, and he has a keen eye for capturing beautiful moments.
To attract him to the island, he needs three pieces of furniture and for his home to be located in Seaside Resort so that he can be close to Hello Kitty.
- Lookalike Lovers: As usual, he's Hello Kitty's boyfriend and looks like a genderbent version of her.
- Nice Guy: His missions as a visitor involve him asking the player to deliver apples to Hello Kitty for him since they're her favorite food.
