An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. originally chosen to wear the latest version of Hank Pym's Ant-Man suit.

  • Ax-Crazy: At the end of Irredeemable, he turns out to be a psychotic maniac.
  • Facial Horror: Gets a face full of the G.I.Ant-Man's suits jets, burning off half his face.
  • Fat Bastard: Significantly more pudgy than the typical SHIELD agent, and he eventually turns out to be completely psychotic.
  • Frame-Up: Eric blames him for all of Eric's own misdeeds with the G.I. Ant-Man suit, and since Mitch has shown himself to be a lunatic, it's believed.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: When he has Eric at his mercy, he tells him in no uncertain terms that they are not friends — he was friends with Eric's buddy, and then Eric got him killed.
  • It's Personal: He never liked Eric to begin with, but Eric burning off half his face made Mitch very determined to get some payback.
  • The Poorly Chosen One: Given his murderous and delusional psychosis, it's a pretty good thing he didn't end up getting the suit.
  • Sympathetic Inspector Antagonist: Initially looks like one, going up against Eric, but come the final issue of Irredeemable Ant-Man it's blown out of the water.
  • Upgrade Versus Prototype Fight: Attacks Eric in the prototype version of the Ant-Man suit, with his training giving him an advantage of Eric, who has no clue what he's doing.

  • Identical Stranger: Hank was attracted to Janet because she looked like a younger Maria.
  • Red Herring: A few times over the years it's seemed like Maria might turn out to be alive in some form or another, but every time it's turned out that nope, she is quite certifiably dead as it gets.
