• At NXT TakeOver: WarGames, he finally earns the respect of Aleister Black, after a hard-hitting match. In the weeks leading to the match, Dream said that he would get Black to say his name, and he gets it.
  Black: Enjoy infamy, Velveteen Dream.
• His involvement in the atrociously awesome Ladder Match for the NXT North American title at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. At one point, he dropped his elbow hard off a ladder onto Lars Sullivan.
• TakeOver: Chicago II had his match with Ricochet, an all out incredible battle lasting nearly a half hour, complete with both men performing the other's moves trying to one-up the other!
• Although he came up short, his match for the NXT Championship with champion Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: WarGames II was nothing short of a masterpiece. Dream's outfit, as per usual in his Takeover matches, is an homage, this time to Hollywood Hulk Hogan, in Los Angeles no less, and all throughout the match he continued to use moves inspired by the man and other classic wrestlers, from the legdrop, to the figure-four/eight, amongst others. At one point, Dream took advantage of a distracted Ciampa to deliver a Rolling Death Valley Driver for a two count.
• Proceeded to steal the Super Bowl's Halftime with the battle at Halftime Heat, where he teamed up with Ricochet and Aleister Black to fight against Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa and Adam Cole in a tag team match. Despite clocking in at barely over 16 minutes, it still delivered and then some, with many agreeing it was worth watching over the actual Halftime Show, no hyperbole.
• The February 20th, 2019 show was headlined by a fantastic main event as, in a thrilling twenty-minute plus bout, he finally reached the next level by defeating Johnny Gargano for the North American title.
