Awesome / Kuroko's Basketball

Go To

  • Kuroko illustrating what he's capable of in the first Seirin practice game between freshmen, juniors, and seniors. Previously, Kagami obliterated Kuroko one-on-one. Now that there's team play involved, Kuroko was able to show off his passing abilities, the advantages of his ninja-like invisible presence and misdirection specialty mostly unique to him.
  • Kuroko's Cyclone Pass during the first Shuutoku match. Thanks to this pass, he's able to counter Midorima's unearthly shooting abilities because they can do fast breaks immediately after and get the point back immediately.
  • Midorima gets one when he reveals that he can score three pointers from the entire length of the court. And gives us an example to prove it!
  • Kagami: "There is no evidence. However, in that moment, they all sensed it. They are the prodigies of the decade, the Generation of Miracles. No player is their equal. Even if one did appear, it would be in the distant future. Or so it seemed. They heard the sound of a door. The sound of the door to the room only such prodigies could enter being forced open", as Kagami did a slam dunk from the free throw line. Doubles as Crowning Moment of Funny as he slips and falls.
  • Kise finally letting go of his issues and completing his Perfect Copy of Aomine. Actually, the climax of the Kaijou vs. Touou match is a huge one, especially the clashes between Kise, with his Perfect Copy, and Aomine, who is playing seriously for once. Kise had a great deal of respect for Aomine because up until he joined Teikou's basketball club, he felt quite bored of other sports due to him easily mastering them all. By letting go of that respect and treating Aomine like an enemy, he ended up forcing his former teammate to practically go against a shadow or mirror image of himself up until the final stanza of the game, with Kise doing an uncharacteristic team play in that last minute that Aomine countered.
  • Kuroko gets a couple at the halftime of the match against Kirisaki Daiichi. Kagami is ranting about all the dirty plays the enemy team is going for, and happens to glance over at Kuroko as he's doing so...and the sheer Tranquil Fury on Kuroko's face shuts him up immediately. At the same time, Hanamiya crosses paths with Aomine, who tells him that he's going to lose to Seiren. When Hanamiya asks why he thinks that, Aomine says he has no idea how, but he knows it's going to happen, because Hanamiya pissed Kuroko off.
  • Kuroko's epic Shut Up, Hannibal! to Hanamiya, all the while using Ignite Pass against him. One definitely should never piss off Kuroko.
  • Aomine's entire playstyle could count, especially considering all the cool moves in it. Aomine incorporates Iverson-like street ball with all it unorthodox shots mixed with LeBron-like physicality and Kobe-like skillfulness, thus making him a total package like a Japanese Michael Jordan.
  • Seirin finding their Heroic Second Wind in the second match against Touou. This came about in two parts. First, a new-and-improved Kagami was able to push Aomine by blocking his Formless Shot. Second, Captain Hyuga was sinking threes more often thanks to his Barrier Jumper (a stepback jumpshot). There's also Seirin's team work finally gelling enough to drive their score up.
  • Aomine finally, finally giving 100% to the game and entering the Zone. Up until that point, Aomine was only using a fraction of his abilities because he was usually above and beyond the abilities of his fellow high school players, like an NBA player playing against high school boys. Seirin pushed Touou enough to the brink to make Aomine end up in a flow-state like when Jordan, Kobe, or Bird had a "hot hand" and every shot didn't miss.
  • Kuroko's Misdirection Overflow, which lets everybody else on the team use misdirection. He even uses it effectively to stop AOMINE from scoring!
  • Kagami during the climax the Touou Winter Cup match. First, he manages to enter the Zone, then he manages to beat Aomine one-on-one, and then he beats Aomine in an aerial duel with a skill he'd been practicing since the Summer, allowing Seirin to win the game.
  • Himuro Tatsuya. He's refined his skills to the point that he can make his shots disappear. In realistic terms, Himuro is able to do amazing fakes and feints that fool opponents into blocking a shot that wasn't there, with him shooting at the last minute. This gives them the impression that they're swatting at ghost shots or ghost balls.
  • Murasakibara's Thor's Hammer. It's basically a two-handed dunk combined with a mid-air spin. In the world of Kuroko's Basketball, it's as unstoppable as one of Shaquille O'Neal's offensive dunk sets.
  • Kagami uses a skill that even Murasakibara (in the Zone!) can't stop— METEOR. JAM. The Meteor Jam... based on one of Blake Griffin's flashier signature dunks that's also been done by the likes of Dwight Howard... is accomplished by jumping at a higher trajectory above the rim of the basket and throwing the ball into it like a falling meteor. So it's like a mix between a regular basketball shot and a dunk.
  • Kise's badass upgrade, the Perfect Copy. It operates on a time limit but for those few minutes, Kise is basically the culmination of the skills of the entire Generation of Miracles. Imagine Akashi's Emperor Eye+Midorima's crazy three-pointers+Aomine's insane skill set and agility+Murasakibara's blocks and defense skills+Kuroko's super fast passes and tricks combined into one guy, and you can see why Kise Ryouta is a complete monster.
    • Then he loses the time limit. Yes, it's at the expense of his foot (or is it ankle?) but it's still pretty damn awesome.
  • Kasamatsu figuring out the trick behind Kuroko's Phantom Shot: "You're completely visible."
  • Kuroko scoring the buzzer beater in the Kaijou rematch. Props to Kagami for the amazing pass too!
  • Chapter 245, Akashi does an Alley-Oop! Despite being only 173 cm./5'6", Akashi is capable of catching a ball tossed to him by Mayuzumi in order to do an Alley-Oop Dunk on Kagami and Kiyoshi.
  • Chapter 248: Kuroko has restored his lack of presence. Bad. Ass.
Kuroko: Sorry, but the title of "Phantom Sixth Man".....I don't feel like giving it up so easily.
  • In chapter 249, Kagami steps up to the challenge and manages to make Akashi freeze in indecision. Kagami has evolved enough in the past few chapters/episodes to have an Aomine-like presence in the court, such that he has made Akashi hesitate on whether to challenge him one-on-one every time or pass the ball to the other Uncrowned Kings.
  • Izuki literally taking a level in badass in the Rakuzan match allowing him to stop one of the Uncrowned Generals.
    • While he's no superstar player himself and he mostly functions as a role player in his team, Izuki was able to stop Hayama's four-finger dribbling, which even Kagami or Miyaji (against three fingers) couldn't have done.
    • Though failing to stop the five-finger dribbling all by himself, he successfully lured Hayama into Kagami's large sphere of defense with Kuroko's help because he knew that he wouldn't be able to match his speed.
    • His intelligence also led Hayama to label him as a top-tier player.
    • His ability to think ahead was also a key factor in Seirin managing to cut the deficit against Rakuzan to 1 because of his correct prediction that led him to steal the ball.
  • In the match against Rakuzan, Kuroko defeats Akashi's Emperor Eye. While the latter is IN THE ZONE. During Rakuzan's counterattack, Kuroko and Kagami double team Akashi who is headed for the basket. Akashi passes Kagami easily using his Emperor Eye, however, he notices that Kuroko is moving faster than himself. It was revealed that Kuroko had awakened his own Emperor Eye which can only predict the movements of his teammates. This allows him to steal the ball from an overpowered "In the Zone" Akashi.
  • The entire final attack sequence in the last seconds of the game for Seirin.
    • With barely any time left, Rakuzan has the ball. As the rest of the team fires up, Izuki cools down and then Eagle Spears a pass, surprising even Akashi.
    • Rakuzan covers Kagami, so Izuki passes to Hyuuga, and their bond lets him catch the pass perfectly enough that Mibuchi instinctively reacts. Hyuuga then uses Earth Shot against Mibuchi himself, cutting the deficit down to 1 with a free throw left.
    • Seirin can't last in overtime, so Hyuuga intentionally flubs a free throw and Kiyoshi gives everything to get it, despite the fact that his knee's about to give.
    • Rakuzan's covering everybody, and there's no time left. Kuroko uses misdirection to slip his mark and get the ball, preparing to shoot for the first time in the entire match.
    • Akashi reads the play and jumps to block the shot. Kuroko shoots anyway, bypassing Akashi in time for Kagami to come soaring through the air and slams in a buzzer beater.
    • Made more awesome in the anime when they play the first opening. May arouse tears of joy.
    • Their first and last win against the Generation of Miracles ended with a buzzer beater slam dunk.
