* DoomedByCanon: Noah is destined to become Firebrand at some point in the future, regardless of how hard he tries to avoid it.
* FriendsRentControl: Noah lives in a large house with a pool in Florida all by himself. The house itself is actually a summer house owned by his parents, and they do give him an allowance to allow him to pay for groceries. At least until he receives Mr. Scars' cash.

* MesACrowd: As of Season 2, there are a whopping ''four'' different versions of Noah that exist in the series. This includes the current Noah that the audience follows, two alternate versions of him who live in the Collective's realm, and [[PhysicalGod Firebrand]].

* SlasherSmile: Pulls off a rather impressive one during in the second part of the Thanksgiving Day footage.]]

Noah's cousin, close friend, and {{Deuteragonist}} of the series. Milo was stalked by the Slender Man from his his early childhood up throughout the time he visited Noah in 2008. He [[DrivenToSuicide committed suicide]] in 2010, and Noah's inspection of the video recordings he made in 2008 reveal that the Slender Man may have had an influence on the event of Milo's death. Starting in 2018, Noah begins posting excerpts of Milo's journal onto the Maxwell Archive, which details Milo's horrific life while dealing with Slender Man.

* DoomedByCanon: No matter how hard Milo tries to fight Slender Man and his mother on his own to keep Noah safe, viewers know from the get go that Milo will end up killing himself, allowing Slendy to set his sights on Noah.
* EasyAmnesia: When Milo discovers his journal in 2003, he notes that he has little to no memory of any of the entries he wrote as a child from 1995-97. As it turns out, the pills that he takes act as some kind of beta blockers that prevent him from remembering things well.

* FromTheMouthsOfBabes: Milo has been using cursewords openly since the age of seven. Although some points are justified (i.e: when he describes how [[KidsAreCruel Jeremy]] calls him a shithead), it becomes extremely jarring when he calls his teacher both an asshole and a bastard, and when he tells Jeremy to go fuck himself.

* MonsterSobStory: There's a good reason why he's known as "The Burdened".[[note]] Milo's mother only gave birth to him ''in the first place'' so she could offer him as a sacrifice to the Administrator. He suffered a lifetime of severe psychological problems due to being constantly followed by the Slender Man and his ilk. Then, after an utterly horrific death and resurrection (both of which were orchestrated by forces outside his control), he was [[BrainwashedAndCrazy forced]] to murder his mother in cold blood.[[/note]]

** Also appeared to be this with [[BlackBestFriend Kevin]] during his early childhood.

* BlackBestFriend: He served as this towards Milo during his early childhood. Milo's journal reveals that the two bonded after Milo's previous friends shunned him. Sadly, the two start becoming more distant during their teen years, partially due to Milo realizing that being around Kevin has [[SplitPersonalityTakeover changed]] him. [[LaserGuidedAmnesia It ultimately escalates to the point where he can't even ''remember'' who Milo is after he called him in 2008]].
** Downplayed with Noah Maxwell. While the two are supposedly buds, Noah mentions on his Ask.fm and Formspring accounts that Kevin was much closer to Milo than him, leaving them more as acquaintances than actual friends.

** Being saved by Firebrand seems to have given him new incentive to live, and he is back to his old determined self--albeit rather shell-shocked.]]

** DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: He also tries to ''shoot'' the Slender Man. ([[BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu It doesn't work]], of course; but he gets points just for ''trying''.)

* SecretKeeper: Hides the journal and knife belonging to Sebastian Kraus.]] [[{{Determinator}} And it doesn't look like he's giving it up any time soon.

* {{Irony}}: Mary was informed of her future death at the hands of Mr. Scars apparently a very long time before it happened, and devoted her life to desperately trying to prevent it. So far, the only being shown to be capable of genuinely derailing the Collectives plans to take a new member is Firebrand. Except one of Mary's attempts to save herself was having Milo, with the intent of him being a sacrifice in her place, and with her being abusive and neglectful to him throughout his life. And since Firebrand was Noah, and clearly still cares very deeply about his cousin... Not only did Mary's attempts to prevent her death result in her giving birth to her killer, her actions also ensured that the only person who could stop it would hate her enough to ''want'' her to die.

* TheAlcoholic: During the events of The Live Stream Incident and Fortunes, Noah takes several swigs from Jack Daniels and Jim Beam bottles. In fact, it's pretty safe to say that Noah drinks more than any character in the Slenderverse.

* TheChosenOne / ItSucksToBeTheChosenOne: Noah was marked at birth (perhaps even ''earlier'') to become an important member of the Collective.

* CosmicPlaything: The Collective just ''loves'' to fuck with him.

* ExtremeOmnivore: It's revealed in Rendezvous and Facade that Noah's stay in the boardwalk has left him so desperate that he's begun to eat leaves, and even a ''live crab'' off the ground to sustain himself, due to a lack of food sources in the Collective's realm.
* GratuitousGerman: By the time Season 2 rolls around, Noah's begun taking German lessons to prepare himself for reading Sebastian's journal.

* FriendsRentControl: Lives in a large house with a pool all by himself. Though it is actually a summer house owned by his parents.

* HorrorDoesntSettleForSimpleTuesday: The Observer plans to turn Noah into a member of the Collective on his birthday, November 11th. Fortunately, Firebrand puts a stop to this.

* SanitySlippage: In the run-up to his 21st birthday, Noah becomes more and more uneasy and emotional.
** In fact, the series ''as a whole'' can be seen as this for Noah.

* TheDragon: Noah encounters him just as much, if not more than the Administrator during the course of the series. He's the third most powerful member of the Collective, rivaled only by [[AGodAmI Firebrand]] and Slendy himself.

* ChekhovsGunman: Sebastian probably fits this trope more than any other character in the series. He's the former owner of the journal that the Collective wants so badly, has witnessed an event that no one else knows about but him, and met Karl Maxwell, who now keeps his journal. And to top it all off, it turns out that he's Swain's host.

* KilledOffForReal: Although Sebastian himself is a mystery, the one thing we know about him is that he's ''definitely'' dead by now.

* ChekovsGunman: Given that his dad was once heavily involved with the Order, Edward's role in the series is likely much larger than initially expected.

* MalevolentMaskedMen: Is always seen wearing a solid white theater mask.

* ScaryShinyGlasses: One of his defining traits. It also clearly differentiates Kevin from the Observer, as the Observer's glasses are always seen with a white layer covering the lenses, whereas Kevin's glasses just look like regular glasses. [[spoiler:As of "Facade", they now belong to Noah, who clobbered the Observer upside the head, knocking them off, and then used Severance to send the Observer away]].

* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Although we have yet to see it, WordOfGod implies that Deadhead is just as, if not more terrifying than the Observer.

* WeirdnessMagnet: Every time he appears in a video, something is bound to go wrong. Justified, as he's the host for the Observer.
** This trope also applies him during Milo's childhood. During a journal entry in 1995, Milo writes that he and Kevin played VideoGame/SpyroTheDragon during a sleepover at the latter's house. This is despite the fact that Spyro was released in ''1998'', three years from that date. Noah is understandably confused by this.

* BerserkButton: If you've ever encounter Slender Man even ''once'', be prepared to get thrown out the door.
** Trying to take Sebastian's journal is another big one, as Milo discovers.

* NoteFromEd: When Milo discovers Sebastian Kraus's journal, he finds that Karl scratched out Sebastian's name and put his own in his place. This indicates that Karl may have written his own thoughts in Sebastian's journal after reading it fully, or that whatever power it has only works for its owner, and by crossing out Sebastian's name and writing his own, he became its new owner.

* ShellShockedVeteran: Not just because he fought in the war, but because he met the Slender Man.

* NoPunctuationPeriod: Taken UpToEleven. Not only does the Observer not use any punctuation in his online messages, but he also never uses the space bar. When a fan asked him why he does this, he claimed it's because it's "easier" for him, and that the realm he's in "has no space".

* ScaryShinyGlasses: One of his defining traits. It also clearly differentiates Kevin from the Observer, as the Observer's glasses are always seen with a white layer covering the lenses, whereas Kevin's glasses just look like regular glasses.

* ManInWhite: Wears very light clothing, and his intentions are far from good.

* BadassGrandpa: Worked for the [=OSS=] in World War II.

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: And within her own family too! To elaborate: Her father, Karl Maxwell disowned her at a young age once she told him she could see Slender Man, her second husband John Fletcher divorces her five years after they are married with very few positive things to say about her, Kevin Haas heavily disliked her due to her dismissive and nasty attitude towards him, Alex Maxwell (Noah's father) apparently had a run-in with Mary after she assumed he was attacking her, her own son Milo ends up and murdering her in cold blood as Mr. Scars after [[CallingTheOldWomanOut calling out every terrible thing she did to him]] (although he does show quite a bit of regret about her murder), and Noah's future self regards Mary as a fucking asshole, and a terrible selfish woman to live under. Not even Mary's sister Sharon cries during her funeral.

** DeathByIrony: Mary only had Milo in the first place so she could sacrifice him to "Mr. Slim", believing she could end the family "curse" and prevent her own death at the hands of the Collective; instead, Milo was resurrected as the Collective Member Mr. Scars -- her prophesied killer.

* TheKillerInMe: She is believed to have murdered her ex-husband, mistakenly believing he was Mr. Scars.

* MeaningfulName: Cursor is Latin for "runner", or "messenger". Considering her host was on the run from Slender Man for a good portion of her life, this may mean more than one thinks.

* JerkassFacade: The journal reveals in Facade that his jackass behavior towards Noah was due to both being in a different form, but also because it's part of Firebrand's plan.

* NoteFromEd: When Milo discovers Sebastian Kraus's journal, he finds that Karl scratched out Sebastian's name and put his own in his place. This indicates that Karl may have written his own thoughts in Sebastian's journal after reading it fully.

* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Mary's treatment of Milo consists of her [[ParentalNeglect refusing to take care of him]], allowing a ReligionOfEvil to use him as a tool for understanding more about their god, forcing him to take pills that wipe his memories, and only leaving behind one stale slice of birthday cake for him to eat on his 18th birthday.

* EvilMatriarch: Sure, she's no EldritchAbomination, but Mary is probably one of the most villainous and characters in the entire series. If the murders of her two husbands don't spell it out for you, then the hellish life she gave her own son definitely will.

* TheDisembodied: After the events of Milo's Tape, Mr. Scars possesses his own journal and speaks to Noah during the events of the Fortunes Arc.

** While answering questions on Formspring, the Observer claims that he has lost the ability to feel human emotions, such as love, pain, fear, or happiness. This is in spite of the fact that he takes obvious glee in terrorizing Noah, and has an epic VillainousBreakdown when Firebrand intercepts his broadcast to Noah.

* ICannotSelfTerminate: He writes Noah a letter begging him to end his life, [[SplitPersonalityTakeover before his handwriting becomes an incomprehensible mess]].

* PosthumousCharacter: Many of Henka’s deeds were done long before Noah would create his YouTube channel, yet that doesn’t make him any less important to the series. Having held a high rank in the Order, and worked with Mary to control Milo during his life is just the tip of the iceberg.

The journal of Milo Asher, which became sentient after Milo uses Severance on it in 2006. During the Fortunes arc, it comes to life once again, where it pesters Noah as his sanity degrades. According to Facade, the journal is now possessed by Milo himself as part of Firebrand's plan.

More or less the main antagonist of the series, this mysterious and shadowy figure delights in manipulating Noah for his own purposes. He is recognizable by his distinctive thick glasses, long hair and [[SlasherSmile malevolent grin]]. Beyond that, what he looks like is unknown, as he has only ever been seen in {{rotoscoping}}. He is later revealed to be possessing Noah's friend Kevin, who helped translate Karl's German after Noah's first visit to his grandfather.]]

After fans learned about his relationship with Firebrand, Scriniarii appears occasionally on the TribeTwelve discord to provide answers for people.

* SurroundedByIdiots: Seems to have this attitude towards the TribeTwelve Discord and Reddit fandoms. In particular, Sciniarii has a disdain for those who ask him terrible questions, or attempt to use Severance poorly.
