Also when she was a cop, she was bitter towards the NYPD justice system for how her partner was killed, that the police force was not going to do anything to track down the drug dealers who done it and that she had to clean up after their mess by hunting down the drug dealers herself, [[UngratefulBastard only to get suspended as a result]] for [[ObstructiveBureaucrat going against usual police protocol]].

* DragonInChief: [[spoiler: He's this Himiko, since she cant do anything sealed away, thus needs to rely on Mathias to resurrect her.]]

* NonIdleRich: After her parents are presumed dead and she inherits their vast fortune, she decides she doesn't even want to touch it and takes several jobs to pay her way through the University College of London (instead of utilizing the money to get easy instant enrollment in Cambridge). WordOfGod states that some part of her feels that if she were to use the inheritance for herself, it would be like admitting her parents are really gone, so she leaves it tied up in trust funds and investments that prevent any kind of temptation on her part. The one time she attempts to access her inheritance, in the comics, it is to [[spoiler:fund a rescue attempt for Grimm, who then turns out to be Grimm's twin brother]]. Her uncle refuses to give her access, however, on the grounds that she is unstable from her time on the island. So it seems that even if she wanted the money it would be difficult to get to.

* NiceHat: His bunnet could count.

* OneWomanArmy: Lara [[TookALevelInBadass evolves into one]] as she makes her way across the island, and she takes the trope UpToEleven in ''VideoGame/RiseOfTheTombRaider'' ([[StuffBlowingUp cluster grenade arrows]], anyone?). The Solarii even lampshade this;

* PseudoRomanticFriendship: The comics take Lara and Sam's relationship UpToEleven. Lara states that she loves Sam more than anyone else in her life, Sam using even more pet names for Lara, the two are almost always gravitating towards one another and often hold hands or touching one another in an affectionate matter. They also do little things like buy cupcakes for one another, go to clubs and travel together. Sam also tends to enter Lara's thoughts when she is left with no distractions and Sam is the last person Lara thinks of when she is on death's doorstep. It was also revealed that, despite the two parting on poor terms, Sam still spoke very highly of Lara, despite the fact that she was still fighting against Himiko for control of her mind and body. And as mentioned in the Heroic Sacrifice above Sam was willing to kill herself if it meant protecting Lara from Himiko. Lara was also willing to put her quest to avenge her father on hold when she learned that Sam was in danger and is stated in Survivor's Crusade that she is now hunting down Trinity for what they did to Sam.

* HollywoodNerd: A document you discover reveals Sam had to practically drag Lara away from her books in school to get her to go to out, while "adventures" to various hot spots in Europe had her far more interested in the local libraries and other historical sites, rather than bars, clubs and parties. Even though she's only 21 and fresh out of college she shows ''remarkable'' knowledge of the artifacts she discovers throughout the game, and an enthusiasm for archaeology. Nonetheless, even before [[TookALevelInBadass Taking A Level In Badass]] Lara is an athletic and quite beautiful woman who, whenever Sam can actually get her nose out of her books, had no trouble meeting guys. She's also able to analyze the origin and age of any given relic she discovers while exploring the island, and even makes suppositions on the various ruins she traverses across at a mere glance, and none of her theories seem to be based on anything but conjecture. She can also speed-read ancient Japanese.

* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Sam's girly girl. Sam is a bit boy-crazy, loves to go out clubbing, and [[WordOfGod obsesses over designer clothes]], while Lara is a HollywoodNerd who prefers her books and exploring ancient ruins. And of course, Lara completely dominates the scavengers on the island OneWomanArmy style, with Sam acting as the DamselInDistress to motivate her.

* KnifeNut: In "Shadow," she starts being able to use this in her stealth kills.

* ItsUpToYou: Hope you weren't expecting anyone to be actually useful to you for more than five minutes, Lara. She seems to become attuned to this, as, [[spoiler:at the end of the game, Reyes and Jonah offer to come with her to the final showdown with Mathias, but Lara instructs them to stay behind to guard their escape route. [[HoldTheLine They do so]] [[OffScreenMomentOfAwesome spectacularly]]]].

* VillainKiller: In this DarkerAndEdgier trilogy, Lara is an ArmyOfOne that is almost completely unstoppable to anyone and anything that gets in her way. In [[Videogame/TombRaider2013 her very first adventure]], she takes down a Japanese sorceress queen with power over weather, her maniacal lackey, said lackey's army of fanatical murderers and an army of undead samurai warriors. In her [[Videogame/RiseOfTheTombRaider second adventure]], she faces off against an entire branch of the AncientConspiracy Trinity, killing all of them except for the leader herself. In [[Videogame/ShadowOfTheTombRaider her final conflict against Trinity]], she eventually [[spoiler: kills their leader while he ''possesses the power of a Mayan god'']]. And all of that was in her first major conflict with a huge group.

* RapunzelHair: At some point in her college years with Lara, she grew out her hair even longer than her friend's.

* StaticCharacter: A common criticism toward Reboot #2. Each game Lara learns the same lessons, goes through very similar scenarios, faces same dangers and... comes next adventure, she makes the same mistakes over and over and over again. She never manages to notice she's the main reason of all the troubles around her, while other characters are dismissed if they even try to call her out on this. Not to mention the entire reboot managed to create an OriginsEpisode... ''stretched to'' '''three games''' and Lara's growth as a character is close to zero. If anything was growing, it was her reassurance it's always NeverMyFault.
** She shows ''some'' signs of progression without saying as much in ''Shadow''. Her pleas of desperation to Jonah to track down Trinity immediately after starting the chain of events that put them in their current predicament definitely sound like she's blaming herself even though she never comes out and says it. However, pretty much everything after that point just goes back into "Lara vs. Trinity" mode instead of her pressing on a matter of penance.

* {{Expy}}: A (somewhat) snarky, dark haired, eager filmmaker/reporter who can't stay out of trouble and who has a potentially romantic relationship with the hero of the story. Sam is the Tomb Raider's version of Lois Lane. She does admittedly grow into her own character as the series goes on though.

* HeterosexualLifePartners: While their interactions put the heterosexual part into question, Lara and Sam became an inseparable team soon after their initial encounter at University College London, moving in together, partying together, travelling the world together, etc -- Lara muses that their friendship should never have worked yet at the same cannot imagine her life without Sam.

* OppositesAttract: A [[AmbiguouslyBi (possible)]] not romantic version of this trope as the party girl, social butterfly yank Sam finds herself drawn to the socially awkward, bookworm Lara, a feeling that is very much returned by Lara.

Lara outright states that Sam is the person she loves most in the world and Sam also states that she loves Lara. Sam continues to use affectionate nicknames for Lara and, [[spoiler:despite leaving one another on poor terms Sam apparently still spoke very highly about Lara]]. Of course, Mathias neglects to mention that he himself routinely tortures, kills, and brainwashes people, and that he deliberately sent his fellow survivors out to die because they were "weak" and therefore useless, whereas Lara ''only'' killed in self-defense and to protect her group.

* NotSoDifferent: He claims that Lara is no better than he is, as they both have killed hundreds of people in order to survive. [[SubvertedTrope Of course]], he conveniently leaves out the part where he routinely tortures, brainwashes, and sacrifices people, and that he deliberately sent his fellow survivors out to die because they were "weak" and therefore useless.

* WhatIsEvil: Near the end of the game, he insists that he and Lara are NotSoDifferent since they both have committed morally questionable actions and killed numerous people since being trapped on the island, declaring that there are no heroes on Yamatai, only survivors. Of course, he leaves out the evil things he's done that she hasn't, so it doesn't really hold water.
