Clark and his friends tried to stop them, but they no were match for the Kandorians, and one-by-one all of Lois' friends and family fell to the invaders, so she could return to her own time. She was supposed to return to the present day and warn everyone about Zod's invasion before it could happen, but she developed PTSD from the horrible, traumatic experience she had, and her mind did its best to repress the memories so it could protect itself. Lois' memories are eventually recovered in full in "Pandora", so she still succeeded in her mission.
