* TheAntiNihilist: He's an easygoing guy who takes life as it comes, but admits to Squall upon meeting him that he appreciates the moment so much because inevitably life separates loved ones and friends, as he himself experienced, and because of that fact one should cherish new friends and loved ones for however long or short it lasts.

Added DiffLines:

* HiddenDepths: His dialogue with Squall shows there's a pensive thinker with his share of tragedy beneath the chipper demeaner and he implies based on his own experiences that all loved ones sooner or later will part in unexpected or tragic ways, and as such he cherishes friendships for however long they last and despises the thought of solitude simply because of fear of separation.

* BeyondTheImpossible: During his EX Burst, Kain uses what is undoubtedly the '''biggest''' Jump attack any Dragoon in ''Final Fantasy'' has achieved -- he jumps so high that he breaks the cloud barrier and the twin moons are visible behind him, which would put him as reaching the stratosphere, at least. He also jumps so ''fast'' when doing this that he forms a mach cone around himself as he rockets into the air.

* JokeCharacter: His antics are much more comical than the rest of the cast, including a RocketPunch that fires giant boxing gloves at the opponent; a diving headbutt Jump where he gets his head stuck in the ground; and his failed EX Burst, where he dynamically attacks with Excalipoor for 1 damage each time, he realizes he picked the wrong sword, and throws it over his shoulder at the enemy while clutching his head and bemoaning his mistake. He's also very impractical for serious play -- while 6/8 of his random weapons are fine, the Battle Axe randomly gets a huge damage penalty or a huge damage boost, and the Excalipoor reduces all damage to 1. There's the chance his EX Mode will randomly stick him with the Excalipoor, meaning any attack he uses might get reduced to 1 damage, and while his EX Burst is the strongest in the game if you pick Excalibur, it's one of the most difficult ones ''to'' get right and is by far the weakest if you fail it. Of course, the very reason Gilgamesh is in this game is because he's a BreakoutCharacter and a major part of why the fanbase loves him is his comical EpicFail antics, so Gilgamesh having some crazy, impractical gimmicks to his fighting style is part of his appeal.

Yet another EnsembleDarkhorse makes it into ''012''. This time, it's the legendary Gilgamesh from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyV'', armed with his wide assortment of weapons and the blazing flame of his winning spirit.
