Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

openEmotionless Girl
Why is Emotionless Girl separate from The Stoic? There's no explanation in the description.
openTroper with indentation problem, refuse to improve
From April, I sent them three PMs for indentation issue (plus few other, including one for Sinkhole) on Funny.Death Battle Season Eight. Since the link in our notifier is messed up, the third one is manually writen (and I make sure that the link work properly). They did reply, but only say they're sorry to keep doing it without promise to learn.
And today, they added this.
- This becomes even funnier when you remember the last time Boomstick sprayed Wiz by wrecking a watermelon.
Still use wrong indentation (adding two bullets entry to existing one bullet to expand, and is more or less natter too), still use chained sinkholed, and still in the same article.
Edited by KuruniopenIntended Audience Reactions
If a YMMV item or Audience Reaction was clearly intended or invoked by the author, can it be listed on a work’s main page?
openSpelling Standardization of Trope Titles
Now that we have the capitalization tool for trope titles, this kind of questions may arise...
The majority of tropes using the word "Asskicking" favors this spelling: Pre-Asskicking One-Liner, Asskicking Equals Authority, Authority Equals Asskicking, Harbinger of Asskicking, Fedora of Asskicking, Scarf of Asskicking...
So shall we standardize it by modifying the few exceptions — Radial Ass Kicking, Minored In Ass Kicking, An Ass-Kicking Christmas, Ass Kicking Pose...?
Please not that, even if this change is made, I am of the opinion of leaving Literal Ass-Kicking as an exception, since here it isn't used in the metaphorical sense.
openOff-topic page?
Wrestling.Plane Ride From Hell
This seems... weird to have. I mean, there's plenty of tropes that can apply (going by the Related pages alone), but it still seems off-topic to me (admittedly I don't follow wrestling).
resolved Typo in article name Videogame
I took notice of how many entries there were in Ensemble Dark Horse for Dragalia Lost, so I decided to move them all to their own page. However, upon launching it, I noticed that I accidentally made a typo. Oops. Any way to fix this mistake I made?
openFound multiple examples of plagiarism by the same troper
I first flagged ~Foxley in the Copy-Paste clean up thread last month, because they had plagiarised a couple of things from the fan made wiki for The Bill and placed them on the characters page for that series. At the time I sent them a notifier via private message and tagged them in the post, to which I received no response. I also cleared up the plagiarised examples.
Not one month later, I was going through the recap pages for Tales from the Crypt only to find that they have at least one plagiarised example on there as well, which they have added after I sent them the notifier. The summary on this page here: Tales From The Crypt S 2 E 4 Til Death was entirely copied and pasted from the summary in this wiki here:
https://tftc.fandom.com/wiki/%27Til_Death
Because of this, I had a look at their edit history and found other passages which look to have been lifted from other wikis. Some have been used to fill examples for tropes and others have been used as summaries for different pages.
For example, this passage, which they posted on the Justice League of America: Antagonist page:
Agamemnois an energy being whose essence can inhabit any matter or object, and recreate his body, becoming a living facsimile made of that material. Due this ability, Agamemno is immortal.
Was plagiarised from the Powers section of this wiki page here:
https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Agamemno_(New_Earth)?direction=prev&oldid=2643238
And this summary for FBI Most Wanted S 01 E 04:
Barnes goes on a dangerous undercover mission involving an ambitious gang leader who is plotting turf wars and massacres across the Bronx in a bid for more power.
Looks to have been copied and pasted from the Episode Info on it's Rotten Tomatoes page here:
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/fbi_most_wanted/s01/e04
There is also a page called Operation Ouch! that has had its whole summary lifted from its official wiki article here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ouch!
I was wondering what exactly to do here as I'm pretty new to this? I would have just put this in the Copy and Paste clean up thread but I've notified ~Foxley of the plagiarism already when I cleaned up The Bill, and they've continued to do it. It also looks like a clean up may be required. To be fair, some of their tropes and entries at least look legitimate, but there's far to many lifted entries here for my liking.
Edited by Atlantis1930openCan I use TLP for making a Fan Works page?
I was thinking about making a FanWorks.Shin Megami Tensei page, and I was wondering if I can use TLP to help gather more fics for it and sort of advertise the project.
openDragonheart Shared Sub-Pages
Dragonheart seems to share it's subpages with a band called the same and there's no page split or folders.
Just everything scrambled together so you're reading about the band one line and the movie the next
Edited by CryptidProductionsopenObscure shows Western Animation
I've created the following articles:
WesternAnimation.Buck And Buddy
WesternAnimation.Space Chickens In Space.
I'm looking for help from anyone who knows a bit more about these shows to make them a bit more presentable.
I've tried doing some basic research on the shows for verifiability, but would welcome any help from fellow tropers!
openContent that never made it in the final product
On TNO Misc, there's an entire 'removed nations' section whose entire content only pertains to pre-release or placeholder information that was disclosed by the developers but never made it into the work proper (basically, the whole section is an example of What Could Have Been). As I understand from Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work, this information does not count as tropable content; should it be cut from the page?
openCharacter page etiquette
Does a work have to have a set amount of characters before making a character page is considered proper? For that matter, how many tropes should be applicable to each character before said character could be added?
openWhich subpage to make?
A work has no YMMV or Funny subpage, and we want to add a Funny Moment. Do we create the YMMV subpage or the Funny subpage?
A work has no Trivia or Referenced by... subpage, and we want to add a Referenced by... example. Do we create the Trivia subpage or the Referenced by... subpage?
These feel like they should be approximately the same question, yet we feel like they don't have the same answer...
openIndex forum thread?
Is there a pre-existing forum thread for questions about removing a trope from an index?
openIs there a way to recover a cut page?
So, hi. I was working on the Sonic Prime page and it was cut. The reasons were completely understandable, and in hindsight, I should have just started with a sandbox from the beginning. Thing is, is there a way to recover the cut page so I can add it to the sandbox?
And for the record, I was going to add a third trope, but I was struggling finding a trope to talk about the logo (it was shattered, and according to the synopsis, it had to do with the concept of the shatterverse) and so on.
openSomething feels off. Videogame
The page for Warhammer Vermintide 2 looks like it was either written by an executive at Fatshark or Games Workshop, or copy-pasted from a website for Vermintide 2. Could someone check it, just to be safe?
openRandom YMMV subpages?
I could swear there used to be a button somewhere that let you visit random YMMV subpages (e.g. YMMV.Pokemon Gold And Silver), similar to the Random Trope and Random Media buttons up top. What happened to it, if it even existed?
Edited by GosicrystalopenMultiple tropes to video?
VideoExamples. The Boondocks has the video for Groin Attack also lists Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique as a Media Source.
It appears in both video sources for Groin Attack also lists Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique, something I wanted to do for a video I uploaded.
How is it additional tropes can be linked to the video like that (the link didn't come up when I put the trope in). Do you have to add the Main/ which it says not to? So is policy against linking like that and you should just upload a copy of the video to the new trope?
An edit reason on Bile Fascination states that:
But I’ve never actually seen this rule on any Admin page. Is it really true?
