They're both 2007-era tropes, from the earliest lawless days of the wiki. It's possible we never actually figured out the difference — they're not even listed on Trope Distinctions.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

I assume it has to do with gender dynamics / audience appeal but it could stand to be fleshed out.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

I suppose the actual difference between the two is that The Stoic is about rarely expressing emotion, while Emotionless Girl is about a girl with literally no emotions at all.

That said, Emotionless Girl has become such an omnipresent trope in Japanese media that it's gonna be difficult to change the meaning of it, let alone cut it outright.

Yeah, The Stoic feels emotion, thry just don't show it.

The articles are divided on the assumption that there must be a difference because they're different genders. I recommend a comparative Wick Check of both tropes before bringing either to the Trope Repair Shop.
