Ask the Tropers:
resolved NRLEP with page.
The Real Life page for Mercy Kill exists, although last I checked, it was listed as NRLEP. It just isn't linked to on the main page itself anymore. Was this an oversight?
openLaunching Nonstandard Tropes
Is it possible to launch YMMV/Trivia tropes? All of the tropes I see being launched are standard objective ones. If so, how would I go about it?
openEdit war (?) on YMMV.Hilda Western Animation
I think there is a possible edit war on YMMV.Hilda.
Back in December 11, 2023, Nic Master Trope added a Base-Breaking Character entry covering Anders from S3, which I then deleted since it violates No Recent Examples, Please! (as it had only been a couple of days after the season aired (december 7) and examples require a six month waiting period after the work/season's release). However, on April 29, 2024, Nic Master Troper re-added and expanded the example, once again violating No Recent Examples, Please! (waiting period for S3 examples is not over til June 7) and ignoring the commented out saying not to put such examples until the waiting period is up.
I am taking it here, because I want to avoid an edit war and the user has now violated No Recent Examples, Please! twice.
Edited by Tylerbear12resolved Possible ban evader?
I may well be wrong on this, but there’s a troper named jhonsogflint who has only been active here since March 2024 and might be a ban evader, specifically of Planet Of The Primates and/or Amour Le Fou. They just resurrected a two-year old TLP proposal first created by Amour Le Fou, and the latest edit on the proposal is credited to that bounced troper (might be a glitch, though).
The TLP proposal is for Human Noises. Link here.
Could an IP check be done to find out one way or the other? Thanks.

openWhere part of TvTropes do I go to for suggesting examples for subpages Web Original
I want to add another example to Nightmare Fuel, on Serina.
Edited by robo22openVA citation Videogame
A few hours ago, Datriel 917 removed Copy the Code's English voice actress (Rebecca Wang) from her folder on Neptunia - Antagonists, citing that there must be an official confirmation from the VA. I don't buy it, since Excessive-Menace (the OP who added the ENG VA) put out an external link from Wang's Twitter post confirming such. This feels like an unnecessary edit if you ask me.
Edit: spelling fix
Edited by ToonAbbyopenShould we have a trope for this? Web Original
A lot of new Web Animations added here are one-shot manga anthologies featuring the same main characters in different situations. I'm talking AoHaru Manga Library, Manga Soprano, ATTAC Kon MIKA, things like that. If Object Shows already has its own page with a list of examples, why shouldn't these manga anthologies get one?
Edited by Eris250openTrying to fact-check an entry that might need to be removed
So, the page for South Park Imaginationland has a list of characters from other works who appear in Imaginationland. On this list is an entry for Pat the Hammer from Handy Manny.
The thing is, while there is an Animate Inanimate Object hammer seen in Imaginationland, it doesn't look like Pat (who has a fairly distinctive blue color scheme), and its voice doesn't sound like Pat's either. Is there any official source that says this random hammer is actually supposed to be Pat, or is that entry on the list just some troper's random theory that they proclaimed as gospel?
openHindsight misuse or not, needs prediction?
YMMV.My Little Pony Nakama Is Magic
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Tama in the English dub of One Piece calls Luffy "Big Bro Luffy", just like Spike.
I PM'd the troper who added it that Hindsight only applies to/goes under the earlier work made this, not causing it. They replied that this fic came out before that point in the dub so not misuse, the replied separately that they realized it's misuse as Hindsight requires it be a prediction.
This is the first I've heard of the prediction criteria, does it require that? And is this a valid Hindsight example or not?
resolved Possible edit war
On YMMV.Touken Ranbu Warriors (and it's previous name Touken Ranbu Musuo):
- Troper biggestSoap added an Esoteric Happy Ending entry on its previous name before I moved it.
- I removed it, citing this comment on the "Is this an Example" thread".
- Soap added it again (albeit rewritten) on the new named page.
I'm not sure if edit warring counts when a page is moved from its original language title to one that is officially localized so I wish to know.
Edited by Ayumi-chanopenUse of gendered character trope names
I might need a refresher on the rules about the gendered versions of character tropes and a link towards any official place on which they are spelled out.
My current understanding is that we always use the official title in example lists and only adapt to the character's gender if the trope name is used within example text. If that understanding is correct, someone editing the same pages as me might need a PM linking to a on official-ish place where the rules is spelled out. If I'm wrong, I need to change my own behavior.
Edited by NazetrimeopenWanting to avoid an edit war Videogame
On Unicorn Overlord:
- Lord Twibill made an edit to the beginning to the page that contained a Sinkhole.
- I removed citing it to be a sinkhole.
- Smeagol 17 partly restored it citing "it is not wrong. the game is both".
I understand that the game is an RTS game but I do think the linking is a bit reductive. However, in the interest of avoiding an edit war, I want to ask here what to do before I make any edits.
openAbout uploading reprise videos...
If you upload the full video for one song, is it okay to include the same video (or part of it) if you upload an example for Triumphant Reprise?
Example: "When Love is Gone" for Break Up Song and "When Love is Gone & Found" for Triumphant Reprise.

openConcerning Fridge Horror Removals on BJF
I noticed that in the Fridge page for Become Jehovah's Friend, tarponpet removed an entry on Fridge Brilliance and the entirety of the Fridge Horror section.
While their reasoning makes sense for the Fridge Brilliance entry, it doesn't really explain the removal of the entire Fridge Horror section, which from what I've heard about the show (and to an extent JW as a whole) has valid concerns.
Would it be alright for me to restore?
Edit: fixed typing errors and specified which page.
Edited by RedBerryBlueCherryopenSEED Freedom edit war
drillizer added several Ass Pull entries to YMMV.Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom that Omega Nemesis 13 removed. This one in particular:
- The existence of Spec II versions of the Strike Freedom, Destiny, Infinite Justice, and Impulse. That 3 out of 4 just so happen to have been made in secret for testing purposes and without the knowledge of anyone else, revealed just in time for their counterattack against Foundation is a bit of a stretch. The IJ makes a little sense at least considering that machine wasn't destroyed at the end of Destiny or before this movie, but it's still too convenient that the rest just exist.
It was removed citing that repairing/upgraded machines to keep in cause of major conflict was what they did the prior series, so it has enough precedent to not come out of nowhere. But drillizer added this back without edit reason.
- The Spec II machines in general. Minus the Infinite Justice, the Impulse, Destiny, and Strike Freedom were all damaged beyond repair; it's incredibly convenient that the latter three machines were rebuilt from the ground up in complete secrecy and were ready for a large-scale conflict, complete with a full-on Silhouette for the Destiny in particular, in time for a major conflict. The IJ in particular makes sense because it could easily be an upgraded version of the original and was already hiding inside the Z'gok (Both of which share the backpack), but having war machines that single-handedly determined wars being rebuilt solely for "testing" when nuclear powered suits were supposed to have been banned, yet still just as strong, if not moreso, than they were first fielded, is a stretch even for Rule of Cool to waive away easily.
Besides failing to address the reasons for removal, the added point of violating the ban on nuclear power also applies to the last series repaired/upgraded machines so not unpredicted.
drillizer's other edits to the page are complainy enough, including adding "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot I removed as not YMMV and objectively misuse (lacking in-work acknowledgment), that I intend to take them to dedicated cleanup. But combine with the edit warring it's enough of a concern I'm taking it here.

Discovered this for Ymmv from the film Pig (2021), as seen here (click here):
- Award Snub: Academy Award buzz was high for Cage's performance, and the film in general. Suffice to say many were surprised and quite annoyed when the film received zero nominations.
I just simply want to know exactly what is so "annoying" (let alone "surprising") about Cage not receiving any (as mentioned above) nominations? Though I'm aware this is an opinioned-based trope, but I still don't understand why? My own opinion and perspective is different from the rest the audiences, therefore I'm not the least bit annoyed about it. An explanation would perhaps be helpful for why is it so "irritating" regarding Cage not receiving any aforementioned nominations? Edited by YatasumujiSenpai
