Cartas de Amor is a Columbian miniseries released in 1997 and directed by Sergio Osorio.

The series is protagonized by Cupido López a love expert who is invited to San Marcos by a spinster called Soledad. Upon arriving to the town Cupido meets Manuel Tirado, a womanizer that doesn't believe in love. Cupido's mission is to make love bloom among the town's inhabitants. This combined with developing feelings towards Manuel makes it so Cupido makes it his personal goal to make Manuel fall in love with him there for convincing him that love does exist.

This series provides examples of:

  • The Casanova: Manuel has been able to bed almost all the women in town.
  • The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: Despite Cupido's love letters working amazingly for other he is unable to deal with his own love life problems.
  • Hereditary Curse: Subverted. Cupido's mother is convinced that all the women of the family are cursed to be abandoned by the men in their lives, but it is latter revealed that this isn't the case.
  • Meaningful Name: The show is a great fan of these. A spinster called Soledad (loneliness), a love expert called Cupido, and a man with a secret soft side called Amador (loving man) are just some examples.
  • Playing Cyrano: Cupido works as a professional love letter writer.
  • Sweet on Polly Oliver: Manuel starts developing feelings towards Cupido.
  • Sweet Polly Oliver: Cupido.
  • Raised as the Opposite Gender: Cupido was raised as a boy by his mom in order to avoid what was believed to be a curse on the women of the family.
