Have any stories you aren't sure deserve to be written but think you'll try anyways? Or have in progress? Just can't stop thinking about and leave be?

Share away, please.

Cogito ergo cogito
For me, every single story I write is this to an extent.

I need to get my confidence in check, I think =/

I have an old story that served as my bridge between bad stories and stories I think are not bad.

I don't think it's good, but I do think it has a certain charm to it, and maybe one day I'll test it out and see if I could actually pull it off.

Stuck at the Galleria was this, but I think that as of Stuck at School I've gotten to a point where I can say it's actually not just some crappy Home Alone ripoff. (It did start out as such. Then Nora and the others came in, which did wonders for it.)

Granted, I did come up with it in the third grade so that's probably why I felt bad of it at first.

I don't understand what you mean by "deserve to be written", as I think any story can deserve to be written. Publishing the story is a different thing, though.

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.
I'm writing a crappy story in The Slender Man Mythos that I intend to hand out to a couple of my friends and not be any sort of major project. If that's what is meant by Guilty Pleasure Writing.

While I'm working on a novel that I think is worthy overall, there are a few parts in it that probably don't deserve to exist outside of, well, Author Appeal. So, maybe that counts.
no one will notice that I changed this
I have a story that I started planning when I was eleven. It's got basically the exact same plot as Cameron's Avatar (the plot's been set in stone since the beginning; my story's nine years old, so I have to chalk this up to a tragic coincidence) but the entire cast list is composed of gay elven bishounen. With tails.

Yeah, it's never going to see the light of day. It is fun to play around with it sometimes and try to come up with ideas as to how it could be salvaged or re-made into something decent. (Spoiler!: It can't)
Respect the Red Right Hand
Woody's Finest Hour: Exactly What It Says on the Tin, a proper finale to Woody's Roundup. May or may not be seperate from my plotbunny to write an in-universe crossover with Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, depending on how I decide to go about this. XD

Wow! I wasn't expecting such an avid response to this. Guess a lot of us write what we want to write but aren't always so confident about writing it.

Would reply more but am in a hurry, so! Another time—

I can't write something if I can't at least delude myself into thinking it might be publishable in some sense, so...

Probably the closest would be my fanfic/crossover (the only fanfic I've ever tried to write) which I keep dropping because it seems silly to write someone else's characters, then resuming work because I want to write at least one fanfic.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Hmm...well, there's those God-awful Sonic the Hedgehog fanfics I wrote in middle school, complete with Mary Sue fan characters and plots contingent on Ass Pull coincidences. In my defense, I was only about 12-13 when I wrote them.

Then there's my first novel. It was fun to write, but it's chock full of self-inserts, more ass pulls, and a serious case of Artistic License - History. I tried to write a Medieval England story with only a very cursory knowledge of said time period. That didn't work well.

Currently, I write Crack Pairings of my own characters when I get bored and my muse won't cooperate with the plot. It's highly enjoyable, but I'd never want anyone to see them.
I once wrote a Real-Person Fic on the encouragement of another dude For the Lulz. With egregious OOC behaviour and general ridiculousness.

I guess it's kinda funny and it did serve as a good practice for my humour, but I still wouldn't really show it to people. Partially because, well, it's an RPF, and because it'll make the person who doesn't know anything about said people go "huh?".
Probably should get working on that essay now...

I've always wanted to make one of those teenage dramedies that are silly and funny, but in the end make you feel kind of warm and happy.

I often write over the top psychological horror and fetish filled stories that will never see the light of day, because of the sublime and questionable context of them. wink
You are a Innocent Uke! Cute and sweet of all ukes!
MY own profile is actually HERE!
I have an idea I came up with last winter that’s basically about a Conan the Barbarian/high/epic fantasy version of Santa Claus who’s a badass battlemage/spy for a magical order. Featured would be such things as;

  • A war in the East
  • The imminent birth of the incarnation of the Light
  • A loose justification for gift-giving (He believes that humanity needs some small proof of magic every so often, as well as of generosity. Most of the other mages write this off as an eccentricity, but some worry it could foster a civilian dependence on magic, as well as have other potentially harmful repercussions.)
  • A magical spyglass St. Nick uses to watch over The Empire
  • A solitary tower/“workshop” he lives out of in the North that’s Bigger on the Inside
  • Similarly, the obligatory sack St. Nick hauls his gifts in that also happens to be a Bag of Holding
  • Old Man Winter and his son, Jack Frost.
  • Tolkienesque elves who provide St. Nick with spells and speshul elven artifacts
  • Slightly not-as-Tolkienesque and also quasi-Scandinavian-based dwarves who provide St. Nick with reindeer and wind magic spells in return for protection from ice giants/yeti/etc.
  • Some form of expies for the Three Wise Men (either the first Magi or perhaps rulers of kingdoms that border the Empire)
  • Steam/clock/claypunk toy-people/golems St. Nick fashions as help, as well as a demon familiar named Black Peter
  • And all that schmaltzy holiday feely-goodness we (or at least I) grew up with and love about Christmas.

I’d love to write it, but I can't shake off the inherent silliness/cheesiness of it. Then again, just writing this post up has begun to renew my interest… <_<

Some nights I rule the world...
Funny Animal slapstick with copious paw focus that averts Positive Discrimination. Mainly, because I find it strangely funnier that way. In my mind, it just seems like it would either hurt more or be more embarrassing if the subject is barefoot (I know, most of the classics didn't wear shoes in the first place, but rarely was any attention drawn to this fact).

There's also the fact that I'd like to combine said scenario with a Kill 'em All ending.

I realize I've described something like this before, come to think of it.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"

Write that. Seriously. Its sounds like the best Christmas epic ever.

Thanks, heartlessmushroom. I’ve more or less resolved to do just that. ;)

I came up with an idea for a follow up for Stuck a few days ago. I think the thread I made for it is more or less dead, but here's the description I made.

Okay, so as I was thinking of my constant accusations of being, ahem, attracted to guys at school, I came up with a new storyline to write. I think it might be about a guy who, after a string of detrimental incidents, loses his decidedly average reputation, and goes on a wild journey up the social ladder in a large-scale plan to get it back and/or make it even better, much to the chagrin of the "Royals", the popular group at his school. Think 100 Deeds For Eddie Mc Dowd, but without the turning into a dog thing, and with the added turmoil of being understood by humans (and hence being a bit of a Chew Toy, pun intended) as a result.

In retrospect, it seems like people would write it off as a weird Ned's Declassified ripoff in book form.

The Puzzler
I'm feeling a bit obsessed with Dwarves right now. I blame Tvtropes. tongue

I haven't made any stories yet, but whenever I get some crazy idea for them I jot it down.
Has ADD, plays World of Tanks, thinks up crazy ideas like children making spaceships for Hitler. Occasionally writes them down.
They see me troll'n
Someday I hope to write a series of novels based on the events of this.

Also, I want to write a book with an Incestous romance. It's a big Author Appeal and I'm not ashamed, I also want to put a more positive image out there about it so that people won't persecute people in these relationships.

^^ Planning to write Dwarven bara?

Damn, probably nobody remembers that thread.

^ Considering that 90% of site traffic on Literotica is to the "Incest" section, I'd say a fair number of people have a positive opinion of it already . . .
