A stealth game where, instead of crawling about dark sewers or sneaking into high-rank parties, wading through crowds under a mask, how about a stealth game where you are part of the higher society?

Remember when Assassin's Creed preached social stealth? How about a game focused on that? No scumming through oversized air ducts, no picking every single lock, no grapple hook - just you, a mask, maybe a few lockpicks, some bribing money, a well-devised speech check/negotiation system, dynamic dialogue and scenarios, and some high-standing social connections.

For conflict, maybe you're the bumbling security guard and you have to stalk every shadow, searching for the thief.

For a multiplayer component, 4 players as guards hunting down 1 seemingly illusory player.

I dreamt I was playing an RPG of some kind, and there was a secret character I unlocked. He was a skeleton with a helmet, scarf, boots, and boxing gloves. You unlocked him by burying bones in 5 different areas—the head, torso, legs, and arms, and a tail from a dragon for some reason.

His name was an anagram of "name", but you could choose to name him yourself, too.

If I ever make an RPG I am so making that guy a secret character.

The Protomen enhanced my life.

A Roguelike and Real-Time Strategy hybrid where you play as a fledgling Dimension Lord invading and conquering the bloated lands of older, much crueler Dimension Lords. Each "Dungeon" is actually a gateway to your opponents' worlds and crossing over into the real ones, and your minions are both people from your own domain and those you've saved from the opposition's forces.

Also featuring a variation on the Nemesis System from Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor. The other Lords are individual characters in their own right, and they remember your meddling with them.

a semi-open Ghost In the Shell type world. Could be Deus Ex as well. Flying and long distance travel over varying landscapes is in there, like in Just Cause.

main feature is the ability to have multiple bodies and body types, with swappable limbs. You start off human but you can have repeated surgeries until you end up being 100% machine. (that could be the single-player storyline, i dunno.)

probably 5 main "types" of bodies:

1. ultralight (highest mobility and stealth, lowest strength/power output)

2. light

3. medium

4. heavy

5. Superheavy (literally too big for stealth missions, but humongous power output)

swappable body parts include:

  • arms
    • high-powered melee (to punch through walls/vehicles)
    • hidden weapon inside the forearms
    • fold-out/extended reach
    • gecko-skin arms that let you climb up vertical surfaces

  • legs:
    • built in pneumatic jacks for higher speed/jump height
    • heavy load carrier (for heavy and superheavy body types)
    • anchoring feet that let you stand on vertical surfaces and/or stop a moving vehicle

  • back/torso:
    • gliding wings (only available for ultralight to medium) - jump off a building/airplane and glide.
    • Dr. octopus arms (wield extra weapons and such)
    • Rocket pack (allows dash/smash, limited flight depending on body weight)
    • camouflage system

and so forth.

as for gameplay, again, mostly open world like GTA or Just Cause. Main difference is that there should be some indoor options (procedurally generated levels, say, inside each skyscraper you need to infiltrate). And obviously some missions are better suited for stealth, some better for total destruction, etc. Character-building would be similar to Diablo 3, actually: as long as you've unlocked (or purchased) the body parts, you can always swap it around for a different mission (like how Diablo 3 allows you to re-spec your skills at no cost). Collect items/equipment suited to your build to create stronger and stronger characters.

2[up] It sounds like you might have something there, but the details are really unclear. What exactly do you mean by a 'roguelike/RTS hybrid'? And what kind of setting are you envisioning, inside the worlds and gateway zones I mean?

A Beat'Em Up where you've been cursed/infected, and your "total points" are represented as infection. You'll start with 999,999 points, and as you pick up health/red orbs, the number actually decreases. You need to be below a certain amount by the end of the game to get the good ending, but as you lower your infection, your powers weaken, making the game harder and harder.

2[up] Oh, uh...

Actually, I was wavering between you being an Affably Evil Villain Protagonist (more out of being Dangerously Genre-Savvy than anything, though if I wanted to go deeper into the story I'd raise the question of how selfish you actually are to have truly enlightened self-interest) and just someone who happens to own a pocket universe for whatever reason. The main setting would be similar to the Champions Universe, with you skipping between various smaller dimensions where both magic and technology coexist, but not always in equal amounts; part of the challenge is selecting the correct tech tree and gathering intel so you know what you can use in the next level, and optimize that. Magic is based around low-cost minions but expensive buildings, and tech the inverse (you're summoning the magic minions in droves and "killing" them just banishes them back to their homes, while tech minions are normal people in Power Armor and sapient robots, and if they die they're dead, along with all their experience and expertise. Conversely, large magic depends on the proper alignment of geomancy, and that's painstaking to construct, while tech buildings come in easy-to-use kits).

The main gimmick of the game would be the fact that while you can't Construct Additional Pylons, the resources you gather and recruit stay from level to level, and you can transport your base with you if you "lock" it. The idea is that a campaign game is a gradual give-and-take, favoring skirmish and guerilla tactics, as you are relatively small and weak at beginning. Ideally, you want to make sure your rivals don't realize what you're doing, so a plan that crops up early is tricking them into blaming each other for your schemes, with a "notoriety meter" that measures how much your rivals are aware of your existence and what kind of threat you are. It gets too high, they notice how fragile your home universe is and blow it up, spending a lot of their resources but removing you permanently. The ultimate fate of each rival either depends on you liberating their home dimension from them (which cuts the heart out of their war effort and renders them harmless, though perhaps they might recover), or lure them personally into your home and spring a trap (which is hard, but gurantees their death and is utterly cathartic).

Good plan?

A game similar to the X-COM series only set in a real world setting...like the Cold War would be perfect for this in my opinion. Play as a world power within NATO or the communist bloc and get funds to do covert ops. Most of them would prob be fictional, although I'm sure things like the Bay Of Pigs Invasion and Operation Just Cause could be worked in as scenarios.

For upgrades, I'd have a mix of real tech and Stupid Jetpack Hitler type fake technology...

A survival horror RPG, which gets it's horror themes from hiding everything essential to staying alive (can't see HP/MP/SP etc.), and stronger enemies can copy you directly, including being able to use your Infinity +1 Sword.

Now that the Dynasty Warriors series has made a crossover/spin-off with another game series in the form of Hyrule Warriors, the idea of an Assassin's Creed Warriors hasn't left my head.

With the Animus being the always-present Framing Device, the plot could be a hacker attacking Abstergo and really messing with the Animi network; this causes the Animus to bring Assassins from different points in time fighting the masses of guards/Templars that show up, with also major Templars as bosses and playable characters of course.

The crazy technology of the Pieces of Eden mixed with the concept of a hacked Animus could be used to explain and create all the flashy over-the-top moves these "historical" characters would have in a DW setting. Crazy stuff like Connor invoking spirit animals, Edward laying waste with the Jackdaw, or Altair being a powerful over-the-top "vanilla" Assassin.

As for the "present" time, it could involve Abstergo being turned on its head while they try to find out what the hell is going on and fix it, all the while someone on their gaming division starts to see some amazing potential in the whole mess that's taking place in the Animus.

I've had this idea for a game for god knows how long, and I posted a quick and dirty summary on my Tumblr, I'll pull it up.

"The plot revolves around a young girl (14 or 15) named Marley, who has psychic, or at least, prophetic, abilities. It starts with her having random dreams that turn out to be linked to major disasters later on, but it slowly gets closer to home, starting with a neighbor’s pet going missing and eventually becoming a prediction of her mother’s murder. Marley then decides to keep the dreams to herself from then on, hoping they would stop (they don’t.) and she eventually closes herself off to the outside world, playing lots of MMPOR Gs and such. She then learns that there are other people around the world having the same dreams as her, and she finds out that they’re caused by a singular being attached to the individual having the dreams (called a “Dream Beast”)."

Not sure if something like this has been done already, but it's kinda inspired by Mortis Ghost's OFF and Life is Strange.

A weird premise for a game:

There's a Metal Slime type of monster and it drops untold amounts of EXP, gold, and epic level legendary weapons if killed.

The catch: YOU play as the Metal Slime, and you can't attack, only run and use skills.

Game is basically a top-down "action" game. Enemies are basically various fantasy character classes trying to kill you for EXP/money/epic rare loot. You can however draw the heroes near various monsters to get the monsters to fight and stall and possibly kill them, and you gain skill points over time as well as whenever a monster successfully kills a hero.

Of course, one thing about Metal Slimes is that they're a b**** to kill, and your character has stats and skills that can be used to increase survivability.

Stats are permanent:

  • Increase HP and Regeneration outside combat
  • Increase Physical Defense and also add Physical Damage Reduction.
  • Increase Magical Defense and also add Magical Damage Reduction.
  • Increase speed and dodge rate

Skills are temporary and have a cooldown though.

  • Multiply Physical/Magical Defenses and Damage Reduction by a great amount
  • Gain a speed boost for a good few seconds.
  • Gain a great amount of dodge chance against all attacks.
  • Instantly break free from a You Will Not Evade Me type ability and gives short immunity duration to them.
  • Attract Monsters to your aid (normally you need to kite the heroes to get near them).
  • Teleport to another location far from the heroes.

There would probably be different modes such as survival (endless) or one where the player can successfully escape to another level (Story mode?)

When I was in High School I wanted to make a fighting game with musicians from my favorite bands. I wanted to use Super Smash Bros. Melee as the base for the game. Though I decided that it wouldn't seem feasible because you would need permission not only from Nintendo but also from every single musician that I wanted to include a long with licensing the music that would play during the game.

A remake or sequel of Zelda 2 The Adventure Of Link. Obviously it still has to be side-scrolling levels with an overhead world map.
