Write A Plot From The Title (Writing Game)

Go To

If you're familiar with Contextualize/Whamise This Line, then you may know how this will work. However, instead of a line, you must write a plot/synopsis based off a title from a work in a "Poster above you" format. For example...

Troper A: Soul Surfer

Troper B: Soul Surfer is a cyberpunk action film about a man who has the unique ability to go into the bodies of other people, and must do this to clear his name for a crime he hasn't committed.

Something like that. I'm just hoping I'm being concise enough. Alright, let's begin.

A fan-made mod which amps up the difficulty of many popular DOS games like Duke Nukem II. The package also makes many of the games, even the softer ones, needlessly violent and gory. It's still a load of fun.

After winning Le Mans and fuliffling his late father's wish in the previous movie, Eric Storm must now fix his shattered family and recover the prestige of his father's racing team, taking the new-coming and mysterious rivals in the Dakar Rally. This movie improves on the previous just a bit due to the increased visuals, but it gets too sappy.

"Showy Hack On!" is the name of a pop tune by world-class Virtual Celebrity band Sky.HAK vs Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (more commonly known as SVKSG). The song is unique in that it features live (human) rapper Gavan, who is notoriously known for his songs about sex, drugs, and dalmatians. Although the song was popular in the band's (and band's creators') home country of Canada, it was not considered very good elsewhere.

A sci-fi action/horror about a group of humans who travel to a distant planet to hunt a notoriously dangerous alien life form: the monaters. Samuel B. Kinston is known throughout the galaxy for his hunting prowess, and wishes to test his skills against the fierce beasts. He, a handful of other hunters, and a bitter ranger who sees the hunters as barbarians out for blood, land on the planet only to slowly realize that the monaters aren't just mindless killers, they're sentient, and they're tired of being hunted.

A story written during the Cold War. After some disturbing developments show that the Soviets are sending diplomats over to Canada, America starts to get antsy as they worry about an invasion from the north. So to remove this threat, America decides to invade Canada to keep the Soviets out. The story itself is a pseudo-propaganda piece about how Canada would integrate with America. At one point, government officials insist that people don't refer to themselves as "Canadians" — hence the title.

A story told entirely in flashback where a woman reminisces about her love who was sent off to war and the promise he made that he and she would meet at the place where they had their first date once he gets back. We also see intervals of his own story while at war, and the trials and travails he experiences trying to make it home to her. The story ends just before we learn whether he actually makes it home.

A terrible film that is based on the nonfiction book of the same name. While the book is mainly about the effects of pollution on the health of inner-city residents, the film portrays most of the residents as needlessly crude, violent, and raunchy, which unintentionally promotes the idea that all city dwellers are jerks and that they deserve to die. The author/researcher of the book quickly apologized for writing it because it produced such an awful piece of work that had nothing to do with what the book was originally about.

What happens when you merge a heartwarming tale about a group of misfits a la Stand By Me with The Godfather? You get The Apple Dumpling Gang. The titular gang, a group of boys all around the age of 12, become embroiled in the affairs of the local mob and find themselves the target of a ruthless hitman. Not everyone's getting out alive in this one, and those that survive will never forget the horrors they witnessed, and perpetrated.

It didn't do well due to some confusing advertising which made it out to be more of a lighthearted adventure like The Goonies.

The Slice of Life tales of a wise babysitter caring for two children in a victorian setting (spoiler alert: only the house is victorian, it actually happens in the modern world, the house's owner is simply a snob). The older sister is in her "edgy" teenage years and wants isolation, the younger sister is full of naivety and moe, and is closer to the babysitter. The older eventually becomes more open.

This controversial film takes place in an alternate universe where jazz developed a century early as silent protest to slavery in the American South. It is most known for its brutal depiction of actual slavery and its Downer Ending. However, it has gained a cult following, with fans saying that it is a beautiful film about a man's fight against an unfair system.
