- Aliens. While they're already confirmed to exist and reference was made to the Roswell Incident, they have yet to be shown in detail like the various non-human terrestrial species have been.
- Various cryptids and mythical creatures. Bonus points if something relatively more obscure (like drop bears for example) ever appear.
- Some more supernatural legends, like ghostly hauntings or mummy curses.
- Anything about The Bermuda Triangle and what exactly goes on there.
- The 9/11 Attacks. The joke about how they're "not allowed to talk about it" seems like a setup for a delayed punchline about who was really responsible for the attacks.
- The so-called Mayan Doomsday of 2012; with an explanation for how it's either another fake conspiracy (like Flat Earth), or the reason why it never happened (yet) as predicted.
- A reveal for how and why Jeffrey Epstein died (assuming that he's not actually alive and is just secretly hiding out somewhere).
- At least some references to various COVID conspiracy theories, though the writers may want to avoid accidentally validating anything believed by the anti-vaccine movement.
- A satirical parody of QAnon and other popular right-wing conspiracy theories; with the caveat that Donald Trump and other prominent conservative figures are actually fully complicit in them.
- Various racist conspiracy theories (i.e. Jews secretly control the world, Muslims are trying to take over the world, or that non-white immigration is a nefarious plot to destroy/enslave/replace white people); only to subvert them all for satirical purposes, very similarly to how belief in the Flat Earth theory was portrayed.
- On the contrary, it seems that they've specifically taken to avoiding these types of conspiracy theories and stereotypes to avoid accidentally enforcing any blatantly harmful stereotypes. Despite the over-the-top satirical takes on absurdist theories and the overall content of the show, the creators appear to be very aware of where to draw the line.
- Jack the Ripper was a member of the British Royal Family or an associate.
- Hitler faked his death and escaped to Argentina.
- Walt Disney is kept in cryostasis by Disney.
- The series will end with the Shadow Board being brought down, finally giving the world true free will or making Cognito Inc the new top shadow government ruling the planet.
- At the very least, she'll be trying to get him re-fired, on the grounds that a) she already wants him out of her life, and being her boss puts a crimp on that, and b) there's a possibly he might turn out to be an even worse boss than J.R., or at the very least screw over Reagan out of spite.
- This might happen earlier than season two in Part II, which is the second half of the first season ordered by Netflix.
- Or, as another "fuck you" at flat-earthers, he is deported from the Hollow Earth interior to the surface for being an insanely annoying dumbass.
- Last-minute saving Reagan from another robotic threat, such as ROBOTUS?
- On Rand’s side, as the perfect/controllable version of his daughter? (If he managed to regain control while she was out.)
- A cameo in Part II, in the background on a casual date with Real Bryan after his memory was wiped by the extraction team?
- Rand could have also erased and wiped out Orrin’s entire memories about his real identity and implant False Memories to make him think he’s someone else. Brett also show signs of being Smarter Than You Look. It just that his jumbled-up memories messed his IQ and caused him to be less intelligent than he was.
- However perhaps Rand isn't the focus. After all if the Shadow Board wanted Rand gone all they'd need would be to get him in the building and Shadow Prison him. Rather their goal is to force Reagan to go over the Moral Event Horizon and abandon her ethical code to get rid of him. That way she can be the capable not Rand CEO they want without the moral hangups they feel are holding her back.
- Confirmed, it's Ron.
- Confirmed, the Illuminati appears.
The thing Rand doesn't get is that his father didn't suck because he was "mediocre" but because he was an abusive asshole, and as a result, even though Rand is super intelligent and runs Cognito by the end of season 1, he's lost his past friendship with J.R., his wife, and his daughter because of his toxicity.
- Confirmed, but it's Brett running for Senator.
- Half-confirmed, Rand has a Heel Realization after his disastrous simulated date with Tamiko and desperately attempts to find a timeline to before he ruined his marriage and his relationship with Reagan. However, the date was his own idea, not Reagan's.
- Confirmed. At the end of "Project Reboot", Reagan convinces Rand to shut down the titular project with her. On a lesser note earlier in the season, he also sent her to brainwash the Pope and he agrees to help her fund a Halloween party.
- This one seems so obvious it shouldn't have to be theorized about.
- Since we don't know how much of the circumstances surrounding the surgery, or at what age Glenn was experimented on, and we all know how Cognito Inc. is, how can we be sure that a younger, more bright-eyed Glenn, who was likely eager to serve his country wasn't taken advantage of, or even outright lied to as to what the consequences would be of his transformation? And that his jingoistic obsession isn't a coping mechanism?
- In Episode 3, Glenn even mentions how difficult life has become since he got the surgery, and Brett (in Glenn's body) experiences all of the awful stuff Glenn apparently deals with on a regular basis. If the surgery wasn't as voluntary as he's making it seem, its no wonder he's such an asshole.
- His face is "so generic that it can't be tracked by satellites," He can infiltrate the White House just by bullshitting the guards, and he managed to convince Jeff Bezos that he was a rich dude buying a yacht. Strangely, when Brett follows Rafe Masters around to learn how to be a spy, Brett does a far better job of keeping the secret that Reagan was still alive under wraps and Rafe never suspected that he was in on it (despite being suspicious of everyone else.)
- In Ep. 1, Reagan is immediately suspicious of him, and everyone else brushes off her concerns. The audience might have even been wary of Brett at first, too, at least before he turned out to be genuinely nice, and her "evidence" was shown to be quite flimsy. In Ep. 9, Reagan throws the accusation that Brett is a "sleeper agent planted by Abercrombie and Fitch," and the gang only backs off when he mentions his therapy appointments. Reagan makes accusations of dishonesty towards Brett's identity in both the beginning and end of a season.
- Jimmy Fallon is a sleeper agent, and Gigi mentions that Cognito "broke his damn brain," and that's why he laughs so much. In Ep. 10, when the Reagan from the prom memory asks Brett if he has brain damage, he says that the doctors "aren't sure."
- Magic Myc isn't feeding his spores to ancient apes, but to contemporary apes just for shits and giggles (it won't uplift them as in the scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey the intro scene is based on, it'll just make them high as kites).
- Pretty much confirmed in "Project Reboot". J.R. described Rand as the idea guy and himself as the "keep the idea guy out of jail guy".
- If you notice in the family photo bit of Brett’s memories in a 'Blink and You'll Miss It' moment his mom looked momentarily sad just before the close out Brett from the photo.
- His dad said “My kids” not our kids when addressing them. We also don’t see who said “Which one’s Brett?” So that leaves the debate over who said it.
- We never see who said his parents extended their trip just his butler telling Brett the news. For all we know his mom could have had protests knowing they’d miss their kid’s birthday.
- The joke is how often rich kids end up in trouble or on drugs but their is a third dark idea if you consider how often rich families keep their kids in line with threats of being sent away. Maybe their dad sent them away because they talked back to him against his treatment of Brett?
- Bottom line for all we know his dad could be the one who hated Brett and his dad let’s them know to either play along or there will be trouble. As for why, that’s a different theory.
- Going on the theory above fans have noticed some similarities between Brett and his second oldest brother as well as a lack of similarities between his dad and his various other siblings.
- Maybe it was Brett that made him catch on his wife was cheating on him so he instills that resentment on Brett for breaking his delusions.
- In a weird way it explains why he boosts his other siblings up despite possibly being not his as well as one going to military school and another going to rehab because they represent the time he felt like he had it all so he pretends to care about them.
- at the very least it could be something as simple as he didn’t plan for Brett so he didn’t bother caring about him. The series has called out control freak parents or just crappy parents in general so there’s that.
- The Shadow Board did say "The turning has started early." And when they showed the planets aligning, the moon was moving with its engines, despite them being shut off last we saw them. And the man with the control device for the moon's engines is Rand.
- When Reagan states to Rafe that "The only people who think you're cool are dads, or people that didn't have dads!" alongside Brett's statement we see Gigi nodding. Gigi makes several advances towards Rafe and at first congratulates Reagan for sleeping with him, implying she also has a crush on him.
- We see Reagan lean on Rand for advice several times throughout the series and she sides with him over her own team in episode 9, so it's far from implausible that Rand could do it. It got foiled when Reagan found out about Orrin, leading Rand to launch a plan B and use his shares to take over directly.
- Additionally, we see that in episode 9 and in the first half of episode 10 Rand is doing everything he can to drive a wedge between Reagan and her coworkers - and he largely succeeds. He forces her to decide between letting him be killed or escaping with him to a surveillance room he secretly built, and later encourages her to use animatronic cryptids to kill them. We see him quietly smirking when Reagan's group (except Brett) quit on her in the beginning of Episode 10. Then, when Brett continues to stay with her, he tries to minimize his presence. It's clear that Rand is trying to remove every influence in Reagan's life except him, allowing her to be manipulated by him and effectively transformed into a puppet of his.
- It's entirely plausible, perhaps even likely, still that Rand deliberately set up the Bear-O mole crisis, but it was primarily to cause a crisis which would drive that wedge between Reagan and her co-workers, not initially to cause a crisis which would give him cover to take over directly.
- The Shadow Board uses owl imagery extensively and we see an owl statue on a shelf near Reagan's couch, which is where we usually see Rand. Additionally, one of the Shadow Board members implies he has back problems in Episode 1 ("That will do wonders for my back") when Reagan gives her ROBOTUS presentation; and it's discovered in Episode 8 that Rand takes painkillers and in Episode 10 he stretches his back before climbing a rope while inside Reagan's mind.
- Reagan and Brett have become very close to each other as the show progresses. Brett is more of emotional support for Reagan, and Reagan is like a friend who treats him better than other members of the Shadow Government. Maybe in later episodes or seasons, Reagan and Brett will fall in love and become a couple.
- Why else would they bring back a CEO who they've fired before, and by the time Reagan returns to work, goes as far to announce that he plans to ignore their orders and instead make Congnito do what he thinks will reclaim their glory days? Maybe they they could be using Murphy's Law to their advantage.
- Given the show was renewed for a second season, and that Part 2 will likely focus on and could wrap up the conflict between Reagan and Rand (especially if she manages to kill or neuter him); it seems possible that Rand is only the antagonist of Season 1, and the Robes are the show's true antagonists.
- Confirmed, Rand gets Put on a Prison Bus at the end of part 2 and the final scene hints at the Robes' sinister plans for humanity.
- Reagan hasn't seen Orrin in years since she was a kid. And Orrin was the only person who seemed to give her affection until she met Brett. It could be possible throughout the years, Orrin grew up to be Brett and that he legally changed his name or maybe something else happened to made him have a different name. It is possible Orrin doesn't remember meeting Reagan, so if it is ever revealed that Orrin and Brett are the same person, it would make Reagan's affection for Brett even stronger.
- Throughout the series, Reagan's social awkwardness and eccentricity are said to be from having Asperger's. In which Reagan adamantly denies she has it. Looking back to her childhood, she was not allowed to have any kind of fun that other children had. She couldn't play with other kids, she was denied friendships, and was manipulated by her father to skip grades and go to college early. It could turn out the experience stunted her social skills and got her misdiagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.
- Given that Part 2 starts with Reagan in the same position Rand was in during the start of Part 1 (drunkenly ranting to a class of kids outside the White House, after reaching their lowest point yet) - perhaps it will end with her in the same position Rand was in at the end of Part 1: She becomes CEO, but after doing so she realizes she has pushed away everyone close to her. That, or the Robes immediately drastically limit her reform plans.
- Half-confirmed for both theories; Reagan is leading Cognito Inc. now with her loyal team, but had to sacrifice a life with her beloved Ron. The robes are also more nefarious than they appear.
- The Part 2 previews introduce a character named Ron Staedtler, the chief Memory Eraser working with the Illuminati. The way he acts sets him up as a Mirror Character to Reagan, sharing many of the same mannerisms, the same Deadpan Snarker tendencies, and even having a similar physical appearance. As a result, it may be a possibility that he's related to Reagan in some way.
- He could be an Unknown Relative that got abandoned by Rand for being deemed a failure in some way - this would explain why he lacks the Ridley surname, as well as his seeming contempt for Reagan.
- Some have noticed that he looks oddly like Rand if he was the same age as Reagan, and given what Rand is capable of, it's also possible that Ron is in fact a younger clone of Rand, although with his DNA modified due to Rand's ego.
- He shares the same skin tone, hair color, nose and eyebrows as Reagan, which is strange given that Inside Job is typically full of a Cast of Snowflakes, making the similarities between them even stranger. He could be a twin brother to Reagan that was separated somehow, likely due to Rand's tampering.
- Similar appearance and personality aside, Ron appears to be of a similar age to Reagan and has been working for the Illuminati for a decade, much like how she's worked at Cognito Inc for a decade. for such a long time. The fact that he's clearly deeply bothered by remembering memories that other people no longer do could be foreshadowing of how he feels forgotten/abandoned, possibly by his own family. Not to mention that, In "The Brettfast Club," Brett may have foreshadowed this by insisting he play the role of Reagan's twin brother.
Brett: "We'll be fraternal twins. I'll be the boy!"- Ron not only shares the naming convention of having a "R" name like Rand and Reagan, but his name placed in front of hers' creates the name "Ron Reagan." As in, Ronald Reagan, the president Rand is obsessed with and used as a misnomer for his project that erased Reagan's memories. Ron, coincidentally, as the chief Memory Eraser for the Illuminati, is also connected to a program that deals with memory loss. Hmm...
- Ron is also introduced in a similar manner to how Rand is in the first episode and how Reagan is at the Part 2 promo. In the beginning of the show, the tourists in front of the Capitol building are talking calmly until Rand introduces himself to the audience in front of the Capitol Building by loudly interrupting the tourists telling them how the world "really" works, only to be proven completely correct. In the Season 2 promo, Reagan replicates this scene to demonstrate her frustration with her father, but also to show how they have some similarities in their bad habits, and is also proven right a scene later (though, mostly because the audience already understands how this world works). Ron introduces himself similarly in Reagan's therapy group; he interrupts everyone and loudly insults Reagan in a "The Reason You Suck" Speech, and, after a beat, Reagan agrees with him and takes him up on the challenge, proving that his analysis of her wasn't incorrect.
- Ron also exclaims, "Oh, cry me a river," which happens to be the name of a song by Justin Timberlake, who Reagan loved as a kid.
- Jossed.
- Confirmed somewhat. The crew encounters living non-avian dinosaurs in an Alternate Timeline where their extinction was prevented, as a result of Rand switching realities with Project Reboot.
- The Reagan lookalike and the other original Robes somehow found a way to make themselves immortal, losing their humanity in the process.
- In the Rontagion episode, Ron casually mentions that October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month while he was laying in bed with Reagan. It could hint that he might've impregnated Reagan during one of their sexual encounters and it could be a major plot point in the second season.
- When Reagan and Ron left for Wisconsin to start a new life, Ron brought with them new items of identification such as passports and deepfake images of themselves having fun. It hasn't been shown if Reagan destroyed the deepfake images and if she left them in the house, when Ron wakes up, he could be confused about who is this woman who left him and who is the one is going to marry. The girl who is Reagan in the deepfake photos could make it seem it could be her for him to marry. This could lead to Ron somehow remembering his old life and then trying to look for Reagan and wondering why she left him. Thus creating a problem Reagan tried to avoid.
- There's a not-quite-Stable Time Loop involved, more of a spiral than a circle, but eventually, a Generation Xerox version of the team forms, and their "Reagan" is recruited to the Robes – but of course, because it's a spiral, the wait between Reagan and Reagan only increases as time goes on.
Reagan has now gained the office she so desired, has turned away any chance at a meaningful romantic relationship, and is now endowed with the belief that she is better than other people and this makes her actions good:
You know, like Rand.
Reagan will go down the same rabbit hole, pursuing one egotistical decision after another, pushing the people close to her away, and hitting the bottle. Eventually, she even repeats one of Rand's own self-serving lines...and then she realizes she's becoming Rand.
- Myc's psychic powers are described as being "extra sensitive" by his teacher, which is part of why Myc has always felt excluded. Depending on who he's around, he changes his behavior to match whatever energy the other person is giving him, and in the Crapsack World that is Inside Job, this causes him to be an asshole.
- The other mushrooms Myc went to Hive School with, despite being a Hive Mind, still secretly retain individual thoughts and opinions that Myc was able to pick up on, which is why he always felt left out, as he already understood how others felt about him and all of the negative opinions that they do not share with others. Myc, as an extra sensitive psychic, not only internalized what others thought of him, but absorbed the negative energy they sent his way. When Myc took over the Hive Mind at the end of the episode, he wasn't just imposing his own personality over theirs, but allowing their negative thoughts and opinions to be broadcasted to each other in the same way he felt they were doing to him.
- This is also why Myc is still an asshole as an adult; he works for Cognito of all places, which is filled with corrupt business executives, monsters, and amoral lunatics. Myc absorbs their negative energy and reflects it back at them by being a Deadpan Snarker.
- When he and Glenn team up with the Juggalos, Myc is immediately entranced by the powerful mind of their leader, and is the first to follow their advice followed by Glenn. Later, when he and Glenn show off their new style to the Gang, Myc almost immediately changes his mind at being confronted by his coworkers and realizing how stupid he looks, as he was probably picking up on their ridicule of it mentally. Glenn, on the other hand, still agrees with the style even as they all leave.
- She can't run up more than a few flights of stairs in the pilot and 11 episodes later, she can go toe-to-toe with Keanu Reeves? More like, he's holding back against his possible future daughter-in-law - while also fighting just hard enough to not offend her. This is why his only real offensive move is back-kicking an air-dryer into her, after which he continues to only dodge or block. (And he only does the air-dryer move after blocking a couple of hits, when he has a better idea of if she can both survive getting hit by it and going out a second-story window.) The kicker is that, at the end, he demonstrates that he's actually fast enough to disarm her of the white oak stake she planned to use on him - and he even gives it back to her as soon as he understands Reagan attacked him out of love for her mom.
- Whether it's indicative of Vampire Strength(tm) or not, note how the other vampires are holding everyone in the denouement. Bradley Cooper only needs one arm to hold Reagan, but it takes both Johnny Depp and Larry David to keep a clearly resisting Keanu neutralized.
- This is why she's somewhat more active in the second half. She goes from, at best, barely surviving a round with Robo-Reagan in a couple of rooms - to fighting post-Wick Keanu Reeves across several buildings.
- Reagan eventually becomes suspicious of the Shadow Board and tries to learn/foil their plans, but someone will try to convince her to give up because its a quest that never ends. She will just find another group of shadowy puppet masters behind the Robes, and another one behind them, and so on.
