  • Author's Saving Throw:
    • Mike Wazowski absolutely dominated early Speedstorm online due to both an abundance of materials to level him up quickly paired with his powerful "Hold the Doors" skill. A week later, a new event was released that would guarantee players who bought the Founders Packs that their chosen free character could be leveled up to thirty along with three stars and in turn the pool of Ranked players became far more diverse because of it. Furthermore, a hotfix was released on May 16, 2023, to Nerf his unique skill while buffing Sulley. Players still found Mike too powerful though, especially if a door spawns directly in front of opposing players before they have a chance to dodge, so he was nerfed again on June 8, 2023, to make his doors take longer to materialize (making it harder for Mike players to use the doors to teleport players back while giving others a better chance to avoid them) and destructible via shields and invulnerability (giving opposing players a chance to deny Mike players their doors without being teleported backward). Then he was nerfed one more time in the Season 6 update to reduce the teleport distance of his doors by another 10%.
    • Upon the game's early access release, players found the point distribution for ranked multiplayer to be rather haphazard and unbalanced, with some players gaining very few or even losing points for winning races at higher multiplayer Leagues. In response to the first question the development team answered for the first Discord Q&A, "Will there be adjustments to how points are rewarded in Ranked Multiplayer?", they announced that players in Gold League and below will now always earn points regardless of finishing position, while Platinum and above Leagues had the number of positions guaranteed to earn points increased but still gradually reduced the higher the League.
    • After complaints of season pass missions forcing players to play Ranked Multiplayer especially with how unbalanced the matchmaking was, making completing the missions very difficult, Gameloft changed the season missions in Season 5: Let It Go where they no longer required players to play Ranked MP. However, this stopped in Season 6: Under the Sea, as there are once again season missions that require playing Ranked MP, although Gameloft might have become more confident in its game balancing by then to justify its return.
    • After the hugely controversial decision to restrict Golden Passes to only direct purchases with real money (or Golden Pass Credits), Gameloft announced that players would be allowed to buy Golden Pass Credits with Tokens until May 16, 2024 so future Golden Passes can be bought using those Credits.
  • Content Leak:
    • Daisy Duck was accidentally confirmed to be added in season 3 before her official reveal in an earlier version of GameSpot's exclusive article revealing Minnie Mouse as a racer. They weren't permitted to reveal Daisy because ComicBook.com was given exclusivity to her reveal. While the article was edited to remove Daisy's mention, GameSpot's sister site GameFAQs saved a copy of the earlier version's text over to the news section of their site.
    • Data miners have taken game files relating to characters and content not in the game yet and shared them online, including the game's official Discord server despite being against the rules for obvious reasons. This was even how fans learned that Frozen was coming to the game soon before the official announcement of it being the focus of Season 5 in the game's free-to-play launch video; one user shared an image showing Frozen-related assets (as well as non-Frozen assets) on there, and it stayed on just long enough before it was deleted to spoil things for the userbase.
    • Gameloft themselves accidentally leaked characters ahead of schedule when an Aladdin event featured characters from upcoming seasons in the AI roster. The event featured all five Frozen characters (plus Oswald and Ortensia) a couple weeks before their season's official release, all four The Little Mermaid characters, and four characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
  • Defictionalization: The Wreck-It Ralph season quite expectedly includes Vanellope as a playable character and a Sugar Rush racetrack, thus making Speedstorm the closest thing we'll probably ever get to playing her In-Universe game in real life.
  • Exiled from Continuity: Due to licensing reasons, the Wreck-It Ralph representation consists entirely of the film's original characters, with the licensed game characters (such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Q*bert, or Zangief) being omitted altogether.
  • Fan Community Nicknames: Gameloft refers to Speedstorm players as "SpeedStars".
  • Milestone Celebration:
    • The official YouTube channel released a special character feature video to celebrate Hercules's 25th anniversary, which explains why Herc and Meg are in the base roster.
    • While not explicitly mentioned, Angel's addition alongside the four Racers from the original Lilo & Stitch film (along with Reuben being added as her Epic crew member) coincided with the 20th anniversary of Stitch! The Movie and the premiere of Lilo & Stitch: The Series later in season four, ʻOhana.
    • The Frozen-focused season five, Let It Go, began the same month as the tenth anniversary of the original film and franchise, with the community license plate for the season (FRZN10) acknowledging it.
    • Similarly, the The Little Mermaid-focused season six, Under the Sea, began in 2024, the thirty-fifth anniversary of the original film and franchise.
  • No Budget: The Wreck It-Ralph season was produced on a noticeably lower budget than the previous seasons, which is made apparent in how three of the five characters (Felix, Calhoun, and King Candy) lack voice acting altogether.
  • The Original Darrin:
  • The Other Darrin:
  • Pre-Order Bonus: Players who pre-ordered the game for their preferred platform or bought the game on Steam during its first week got additional Donald Duck cosmetic items.
  • Release Date Change: The game has been delayed twice: first from Summer 2022 to Winter 2022, then again to April 2023 (early access)/September 2023 (full release).
  • Role Reprise: Like with Disney Dreamlight Valley, Gameloft is making sure they get as many of the original voices as possible.
  • Schedule Slip: Oswald and Ortensia were both originally supposed to be the other two bonus Racers of Season 4 (after Gaston and Hades) but due to a production snag, they were delayed to Season 5.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers:
    • The "You've Got a Friend in Me" remixes that included Randy Newman's vocals were removed during season three, with one of Gameloft's developers confirming in the official Discord in October 2023 that the removals were not due to a bug or a glitch, leaving only the instrumental remixes and the streaming-friendly replacement compositions as the only music available for Andy's Room. Eventually, new mixes of the vocal-using tracks that don't use Newman's vocals (save for a brief repeating clip of "friend" mixed-in that's almost indiscernible) were made and added to Season 5. Either way, this was all likely due to Gameloft either not having a separate license to use his vocal tracks and getting into legal trouble with him for that or only having a limited license, though considering that the vocal remix tracks were updated shortly before their initial versions' removal, it's likely the former.
    • This is also why Kauaʻi has only one instrumental remix of "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" with the other music tracks being original compositions, as otherwise Mark Kealʻi Hoʻomalu and the Kamehameha Schools Children's Chorus would have to be paid royalties. Averted as Season 4 would add a second version of the song with Hoʻomalu's vocals, along with "He Mele No Lilo", although all the lyrics performed by the Chorus are cut out.
    • It's also probably why Season 7 only has an instrumental remix of "When Can I See You Again?".
  • Unspecified Role Credit:
    • Continuing a long-standing tradition within Disney media, this game only uses a "Featuring the Voice Talents Of" list with only the names of the voice actors shown, though this wasn't much of a problem at first with several characters' original voice actors reprising their roles while the various Other Darrins have been reasonably identified based on past Disney appearances of certain voice actors. This started to become an issue with season three, however, when seven racers were added but only six new names were added to the list. All the six new names were easily identified with their characters, one of them (Lilo's new voice Micah Aliling) through the process of elimination, but Jumba's couldn't be ID'd as easily since the only living person (as of 2023) to have voiced him in English prior to this game, Jess Winfield, wasn't added to the list and Jumba clearly didn't sound like Winfield's vocal portrayal anyway. It would be later found out that Jumba was voiced by Piotr Michael (also Randall Boggs' voice here) after he confirmed it on Instagram (days after it was falsely assumed that Joel McCrary, the current voice of Baloo, voiced him).
    • This was also a problem during Season 6 when Gameloft forgot to add the voice actors of The Little Mermaid Racers to the cast list. While it was clear that Ariel and Prince Eric maintain their original voices (especially since Gameloft already used them for Disney Dreamlight Valley) while Jim Cummings reprised the role of King Triton, the same could not be said for Ursula, as she no longer has Pat Carroll around to voice her again. Players had to wait for Season 7 to find out that Debra Wilson is the character's new voice.
  • What Could Have Been: Goofy was originally intended to be a limited-time event character alongside Figment, but he got promoted to a starter character unlocked through the tutorial once the game went into early access. This gives Season 1 the unique distinction of only having one limited event character (Figment) rather than two or more like every season afterward.
