    Japanese 
  • In the One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack OVA, Luffy, Zoro, Nami and the narrator were respectively voiced by Urara Takano, Wataru Takagi, Megumi Toyoguchi and Ikuya Sawaki. In the TV series, Luffy was voiced by Mayumi Tanaka, Zoro by Kazuya Nakai, Nami by Akemi Okamura and the narrator by Mahito Oba.
  • When Nami's regular voice actress, Akemi Okamura, went on maternity leave, Wakana Yamazaki, already the voice of Nojiko, took her place for episodes 70 to 78.
  • Kazue Ikura likewise replaced Ikue Otani as the voice of Chopper from episodes 254 to 263. Ironically, Ikura would later go on to voice Marine Captain Sentomaru.
  • When Yuriko Yamaguchi went on maternity leave, Yuko Kobayashi voiced Robin from episodes 299 to 319.
  • Due to Kazuyuki Sogabe's retirement in 2000, Aruno Tahara replaced him as the voice of Ben Beckman, while Keiichi Sonobe replaced him as the voice of Silvers Rayleigh.
  • After Ginzo Matsuo succumbed to cancer in 2001, Mahito Oba replaced him as the voice of Smoker.
  • After Daisuke Gōri's suicide in 2010, Katsuhisa Hoki and Shiro Saito replaced him as the respective voices of Jimbei and Rockstar.
  • After Takeshi Aono's career-ending stroke in 2010, Hirohiko Kakegawa voiced Mihawk for all later appearances. Aono died on April 9, 2012.
  • Norio Imamura originally voiced Emporio Ivankov, the person his character design was based on. After his Role-Ending Misdemeanor, the role was replaced with Mitsuo Iwata.
  • Due to Kazunari Tanaka's fatal intracerebral hemorrhage in 2016, Manboshi is now voiced by Yasuhiro Mamiya and Blackback is voiced by Sota Arai.
  • Brownbeard was initially voiced by Yasuhiko Tokuyama, who was replaced by the aforementioned Kazunari Tanaka in later episodes. However, in a similar way with Tanaka's death, Masashi Sugawara would replace him for later appearances.
  • King Riku Dold III was initially voiced by Masashi Hirose. However, due to Hirose's health issues, Banjo Ginga replaced him.
  • Due to Iemasa Kayumi's health issues, Toshiya Ueda voiced Cobra for his appearances during the Marineford arc. After Kayumi's passing, Hozumi Gouda fully replaced him after the Time Skip.
  • Big Mom was voiced by Toshiko Fujita for her appearance in the Fishman Island arc; Mami Koyama replaced her for the Whole Cake Island arc onwards due to Fujita's declining health.
  • Due to Koji Yada's death in 2014, Zeff is now voiced by Ben Hiura.
  • After Takko Ishimori's 2013 death from heart failure, Tōru Ōkawa took over as Sengoku for his Time Skip appearances.
  • After Gorō Naya died of chronic respiratory failure in 2013, Masuo Amada took over as Crocus for all of his later appearances.
  • Hiromi Tsuru, the voice of Shakky, succumbed to an aortic aneurysm in November 2017, so Masumi Asano replaced her for further appearances
  • Beginning with episode 849, Gold Roger is voiced by Masane Tsukayama, replacing the late Chikao Ohtsuka.
  • Following Unshō Ishizuka's passing in 2018, Kizaru (Borsalino) is now played by Ryōtarō Okiayu.
  • By the time Episode of Skypiea aired on Fuji TV, the Skypiea chieftain's voice actor on all of his previous appearances, Shinji Nakae, had succumbed to hepatocellular carcinoma. As a result, in this special, the chieftain is voiced by Yasunori Masutani.
  • Kinryū Arimoto, the original voice of Whitebeard, died on February 1, 2019. He was recast with Ryūzaburō Ōtomo, the voice of Crocodile.
  • Joji Yanami, who voiced Gan Fall and Boodle, retired due to his declining health. In the Episode of Skypiea special, Gan Fall was voiced by kabuki actor Ichikawa Ennosuke IV and beginning with episode 967, he was voiced by Masaharu Sato. Yanami died on December 3, 2021.
  • Minori Matsushima, the voice of Tsuru, passed away in April 2022. She will be recast when she reappears.
  • Keiji Fujiwara originally voiced Admiral Ryokugyu in his first appearance. However, because he succumbed to cancer on April 12, 2020, Jun'ichi Suwabe took over the role for Ryokugyu's subsequent appearances.
  • A strange case that combines this trope with Time-Shifted Actor: young Buggy and young Shanks were originally portrayed by Shigeru Chiba and Shūichi Ikeda, respectively. 2021 onwards, Chiba and Ikeda were replaced in the roles by Subaru Kimura and Nobunaga Shimazaki, respectively, but they (as of yet) continue to play the adult versions of the characters.
  • Yoshito Yasuhara initially voiced Dr. Vegapunk in his brief cameo during the Punk Hazard Arc. When Vegapunk made his official appearance in the Egghead Arc, he is voiced by Yohei Tadano.

    English 
  • The most obvious is everybody getting recast from 4Kids to Funimation following their purchase of the North American rights in 2007. Though some of the 4Kids-era cast members would return to play different characters (Sean Schemmel played Helmelppo and Hatchan in 4Kids, would later play Dr. Indigo. Michael Sinterniklaas played Mr. 9 in 4Kids, would later play Disco. Mike Pollock who narrated extra scenes added in the dub voices Donquixote Homing. The original Luffy herself, Erica Schroeder, would play Edward Weevil's mother Miss Buckin and Lisa Ortiz who voiced Rika and Chopper does the Thousand Sunny in One Piece Film: Red.)
  • In Koby's first appearances, he was voiced by Leah Clark. By the time of the Water 7 arc, Micah Solusod took over the role. Although any scenes featuring the younger Koby (flashbacks or recaps) are still played by Leah Clark.
  • Helmeppo was voiced by Troy Baker for his initial appearances, but has since been voiced by head voice director, Mike McFarland, who also voices Buggy, due to Baker being involved in union-only projects after moving to Los Angeles. His other role as Ohm in the Skypiea arc was recast by Patrick McAlister.
  • After Jerry Russell's death, Crocus is now voiced by Burl Procter.
  • Cole Brown, Blackbeard's English VA, passed away in November 2016. As of Stampede he's played by Chris Rager, who also voices Arlong.
  • Ed Blaylock, Sengoku's voice actor, passed away in April 2017. As of Stampede he's played by Philip Weber.
  • Due to Funimation severing all ties with Vic Mignogna after allegations came out against him, Johnny Yong Bosch voiced Sabo for all subsequent appearances of the character, starting with Stampede. Mignogna's earlier role as Captain Nezumi was recast by Derick Snow for Episode of East Blue.
  • Following Juli Erickson's retirement, Vice Admiral Tsuru is now played by Pam Dougherty. Her husband, Grant James, likely followed her as Zeff is now voiced by Garrett Schenck. James died in November 2022.
  • After Scott Freeman's 2014 arrest, Hamburg of the Foxy Pirates is now played by Garret Storms. However, this isn't the first time Storms replaced Freeman in the same role. Freeman also played Yasopp and Kamakiri, and Yasopp has been recast by Jeff Johnson.
  • After Illich Guardiola's arrest and removal from Funimation, Gin of the Krieg Pirates is now played by David Matranga.
  • Because of Laura Bailey focusing on union works after moving to Los Angeles, she did not reprise her role as Conis for Episode of Skypiea. Instead, she's played by Jill Harris.
  • Scratchmen Apoo's original voice, Brad Venable, passed away in January 2021. He is now played by Brent Mukai.
  • Midway through the Dressrosa arc, the role of Hajrudin was recast from Randy E. Aguebor to Chris Guerrero.
  • Hack went from Garrett Schenck to Kent Williams, however this was due to Schenck being unable to make it to the studio due to the pandemic.
  • Izo's original voice actor was Colton James, who voiced him during Marineford. By the time he made his return in Wano, the role was recast to Jessie James Grelle.

    Latin American Spanish 
  • Luffy has been voiced by multiple people ever since the 4kids version:
    • The late Diana Pérez voiced Luffy for the first 52 episodes of the 4Kids release. By the time the second season was being recorded, Pérez was visiting Europe, so she was replaced by Karina Altamirano for the remainder of the series.
    • For One Piece Film: Gold, which was the only movie released in Spanish one year before the Netflix re-release, Ayari Rivera replaced Pérez and Altamirano as the third voice for Luffy.note 
    • Starting from the anime’s 2020 Netflix re-release, Luffy was voiced by Mireya Mendoza and would also voice him for all the modern movies (besides Gold). After the release of Dream 9: Super Collaboration Special!! and from the Thriller Bark arc onwards, Luffy has been voiced by Desireé González as Mendoza was unable to voice him anymore due to health reasons.
  • For Zoro, Alfredo Gabriel Basurto also voiced him for the first 52 episodes of the 4kids release, but for Season 2 he had Creative Differences with Candiani, so he was replaced with Dafnis Fernández for the remainder of the series. He would continue to voice Zoro since then, returning for One Piece Film: Gold, then the Netflix re-release and for all other modern One Piece movies, until Dream 9: Super Collaboration Special!! and the Thriller Bark arc, where Basurto came back to voice the character after 17 years. Though Fernández has still voiced Zoro for other content outside of the main anime, like the Spanish dub of the Live Action series and his cameo in the Monsters OVA.
  • Usopp also has had different actors throughout the years. He was originally voiced by Aldo Lugo for the 4kids release. For Gold, Lugo had retired from voice acting by then, so he was replaced by Rolando de la Fuente, and for the Netflix re-release, Usopp has been voiced by Alejandro Orozco.
  • Franky was originally voiced by Galo Balcazar in Gold. When Strong World was released on Netflix in 2022, he was replaced by Alfonso Obregón Inclán. Since the Enies Lobby arc's Netflix premiere, Franky has been voiced by Manuel Campuzano (the voice of Buggy).
  • After Akainu's Gold voice actor Osvaldo Trejo Rodríguez succumbed to COVID-19 complications on May 6, 2021, Mario Castañeda took over the role for all subsequent appearances of the character, beginning with Stampede.
  • Rodrigo Acevedo originally voiced Sabo in Gold. Beginning with the 2022 Netflix release of Stampede, the role was recast with Luis Leonardo Suárez.
  • Brook was originally voiced by Darío Olivares (his only major anime role) in Gold. Since Strong World, the character was voiced by Óscar Flores.
  • In the Skypiea arc, Doflamingo was voiced by Alfredo Gabriel Basurto. For the Enies Lobby arc, he was replaced by Christian Strempler.
  • For the 4Kids version, Vivi was initially voiced by Vivian Magos for the first season and by Irene Jiménez for the second season. Since the Alabasta arc's Netflix premiere, Vivi has been voiced by Lourdes Arruti.
  • Vicky Burgoa, Miss Merry Christmas's voice actress in the 4Kids release, had already succumbed to cancer by the time of the Alabasta arc's release on Netflix, so she was replaced by Gloria Obregón.
  • For One Piece Film: Red:
    • Irwin Daayán doesn't return as Law because he no longer works for Audiomaster Candiani, being replaced by Geno Sánchez.
    • Patricia Acevedo does not return to Kalifa, being replaced by Lidia Mares.

    Italian 
  • For the first 255 episodes, Luffy was originally voiced by Luigi Rosa. In October 2008, Renato Novara took over as the character's official voice.
  • Daniele Demma, Brook's original voice actor, died on November 6, 2017 after a serious illness. Starting with episode 579, the character has been voiced by Alessandro Zurla.

    German 
  • Reinhard Brock, the first voice actor of the narrator, died on December 8, 2013 after a sudden illness. His second voice actor, Andreas Wilde, died on May 31 2017. The narrator's current voice actor is Markus Kästle.
  • Philipp Brammer, Zoro's original voice actor, died on July 28, 2014. He had disappeared during a mountain climbing tour and his body, having fallen to his death in an accident, was discovered days later. Since then he has been replaced by Uwe Thomsen.
