The Owl House crew adjusts to their recent discoveries; Hunter faces the consequences of his actions; Boscha realizes a few things about herself after her transfer.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Abusive Parents: Felicity had Felicia transferred from St. Epiderm to Hexside just so she could have an inside source at Hexside to get her stories on Luz and her friends after her promotion, forcing her daughter to find any news she can while ignoring her needs completely.
  • The Ace: Every top student at Glandus High excels in their respective track: along with Nina who's been established as the best Beast Keeper, there's Goregon (abomination), Bangles (formerly healing), Wesselton (plant), Ruth (potions), Kadabe (oracle), Cain Saltstar (construction) and Tito (bard). Emily's the strongest of all the students.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In canon, Ghost debuted in "Eclipse Lake". Here she debuts between the events of "Hunting Palismen" and "Eda's Requiem".
  • Adaptational Explanation: It's unclear where Amity got Ghost in canon. Here, she first meets Ghost while the Palisman is living in the woods of the Bat Queen.
  • Alpha Bitch: Emily Tricks couldn't embody this better if she tried: she's the top student of Glandus High, she has gold sleeves and leggings as part of her uniform and follows the school's "strong rules the weak" rule to the letter. She's even known as the "Queen of Glandus".
  • Alternate Self: Witch Rick mentions all of his, and he uses the "Witch" part of his name to differentiate from them. He also mentions he's nicer than any of them.
  • An Aesop:
    • "To forgive is an act of compassion." To do so takes time, whether it's someone else or yourself.
    • Feeling grief, remorse, or especially guilt is not a bad thing. Feeling any of those is proof you regret any action, including involuntary ones.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: During their therapy session, Abel Reisender asks Hunter which of his two lives matters most to him: the Golden Guard or his normal self. Hunter can't give him an answer.
  • Asshole Victim: Because of Kikimora's loyalty, Belos spares her life but demotes her to coven scout status and already has a replacement aide lined up.
  • Audience Surrogate: Boscha acts as one to introduce the audience to how Glandus High's system works.
  • Bar Brawl: Luz ends up accidentally kickstarting one when she knocks out a drunk guy. It seems to be very one-sided in her favor, but she still ends up looking like she went through a war when she visits the Smiths.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Played both ways for Amity and Emira towards Edric, as they both try to comfort him after he learned the truth about Hunter and broke up with him.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Camila can only say one thing after making pixie pies with Eda, and that's: "Esas pobres cosas estaban mendigando..."note
  • Black Comedy: As mentioned in the above example, Camila agrees to help Eda make pixie pies to cheer up Luz. What Camila didn't realize was that they had to capture and beat the pixies to death with a mallet.
  • Blatant Lies: Kiki tries to tell the Emperor that Hunter's lying about the failed mission to make her look bad. He doesn't buy it.
Kikimora: The Golden Guard is lying to cover up for himself! H-he's trying to make me look bad!
Belos: I doubt you would need his help for that.
  • Brutal Honesty: Boscha bluntly tells McScream she literally has no idea who he is, prompting a Twitchy Eye reaction from him.
  • Call-Back:
    • Luz mentioned in "Heart to Heart" that she made Otabin her imaginary friend after the Slayground incident before meeting Gus and Willow. This chapter starts by revealing that Otabin was a Not-So-Imaginary Friend. The library incident is also mentioned again by Amity and her siblings
    • Edric lists off everything Hunter did on his uncle's orders while chewing him out; bugging Blight Manor and the Owl House, putting Amity in danger, and nearly killing Lilith.
    • While talking with Ms. Traveler, Eda brings up her talk with Amity in "No Dancing Around".
    • After apologizing to Willow, Boscha admits to Skara that what she said to her in "Everything's Gone Wrong" was true. She also asks them to pass along her apology for Luz and Amity over breaking them up in the same chapter.
    • Lilith regales Luz with how she went to the Human Realm to find Eda. As she goes on, Luz recalls what Baron Samedi said about her mother's unfortunate death in "Stranger Danger", right before she realizes what he meant.
      • Lilith also brings up her owing her soul to the Baron, being in his debt for his saving her life in "The Reveal".
    • Professor Blanc now has a job at Glandus High, since his previous attempts to get rehired at Hexside failed.
  • The Cameo:
    • Geist appears after Emira chases Hunter off with a sword.
    • Vina, the witch that Hunter believes is his mother, appears in a flashback briefly interacting with the original Golden Guard after having met with the Emperor.
    • Boscha sees Kitsuni on the phone having an argument with Iago.
    • The Baron is seen watching Luz and Lilith's conversation on top of the tower.
    • Angmar returns for Boscha's "initiation" into Glandus.
    • Shmebulock is one of the characters that Luz questions while trying to find a way to the human realm.
    • Oberon appears when Miss Heinous/Meteora reports to him.
  • Catapult Nightmare: 5-year-old Luz dreams of reliving the slayground incident where Eda doesn't save her but something else does and when it touches her shoulder, she wakes up this way.
  • Character Development: After having a lot of time to reflect and being transferred to Glandus High, Boscha decides to apologize to Willow and Skara for everything she's done to them and asking they pass it along to Luz and Amity, saying goodbye to Simon and accepting Ms. Traveler's card so she can contact her if she needs advice. She also refuses to attack Angmar as if he was Willow while he's hurt, saying it won't prove anything and that Glandus' way of thinking is no different from the Emperor's Coven.
  • Content Warning: "Some scenes in this chapter may be too intense. Some will have possible spoilers from the latest episodes of The Owl House. Also this chapter turned out to be longer than expected, like the longest we've ever written."
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Luz meeting the Bat Queen is shown in a Flashback at the beginning.
    • Another flashback shows the last Golden Guard/William speaking to Belos about Lilith keeping Edgar, mentioning their being part of the Clawthorne family.
    • Ms. Traveler brings up Eda's Obviously Not Fine signs from the previous day.
    • Skara's still receiving tutoring from Viney since "Whatever Happened to Anu Bist?"
    • Amity brings up how Goonla came to the Demon Realm, as seen in Chapter 52. She's also shown working at the library after Luz got her her job back.
    • Shmebulock is still in the Boiling Isles, which was first shown in "Having a Little Hex with my Friends".
    • Felicia outing Amity as nameless is mentioned.
    • A drunkard in the tavern brings up Luz's Badass Boast and declaration to kick the Emperor's ass.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Ukla seems to have challenged Emily Tricks to a fight: from her state when Emily is introduced to Boscha, she lost badly.
    • The top students of Glandus gang up on Boscha after she refuses to attack an injured Angmar.
    • Luz is implied to have beaten up every patron in the bar by herself.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The alternating b-plots respectively focus on Boscha and Hunter.
  • Disappointed in You: Namedropped by Belos towards Kikimora for trying to murder his nephew.
  • Death Glare: Ruth shoots one at Boscha, seeing her as a new potential rival for her position as top Potions student.
  • Double-Meaning Title: More like Quintuple-Meaning Title; it refers to Luz recovering from what happened to Maya and figuring out her next step, Lilith owning up to her greatest mistake, Hunter having to live with having hurt his closest companions, Boscha realizing how much she's changed as she attends her first day at Glandus High, and the characters who debut at the end of the chapter discovering they're gonna be stranded on the Boiling Isles for the time being.
  • Downer Beginning: Amity is shown comforting Luz after what happened in Latissa while Luz remembers how she met Otabin and the Bat Queen, Eda's trying to contact Raine and is unable to, and Hunter goes to see Edric only to get dumped.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Iago sees his job as a receptionist as a thankless one, claiming it's due to redirecting several calls from the Yokai every day and nobody appreciating him for it.
  • Easily Forgiven:
    • After Lilith confesses to being Camila's murderer, Luz decides to forgive her because Lilith, unlike Hunter, knows she made a mistake that hurt her, acknowledges and takes responsibility for it, and is already suffering herself. She also attributes being unable to get angry with her after blowing up at Hunter a factor, but says she might have the energy to be mad at Lilith eventually.
    • Subverted with the Bat Queen. She refuses to go back on her declaration that Luz will never get a palisman, not budging when Amity, Lilith and even Flapjack make a case in her defense.
    • Also subverted with Felicia, as Luz pities her for what her mother using her but won't forgive her for outing Amity before.
  • Establishing Character Moment: All the Glandus students and staff show themselves to be aggressive, arrogant, and power-hungry, the Top Students looking out for themselves and striving to be the best of them all.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Boscha may not be Cat's friend anymore, but that doesn't mean Cat wants Boscha to suffer and she is disturbed by the claw marks left on Boscha.
  • Evil Former Friend: Everyone in Luz's friend group now sees Hunter as this upon learning of his dual identity.
  • Evil Principal: Principal McScream is easily this.
  • Evil Teacher / Sadist Teacher: Glandus is apparently full of these. One example of this is the school's coach Terry Grease, who physically abuses his students.
  • Expy: Mephistopheles McScream is a washed-up actor who has a sadistic personality and revels in watching teenagers get hurt, all while recording their suffering to make into a reality show with his assistant, Mr. Cooker, appearing to share his views. Now why does that sound so familiar?
  • Eye Scream: Hunter gets a black eye after Edric punches him.
  • First Day of School Chapter: Boscha's plot revolves around her officially transferring out of Hexside and starting out at Glandus High. She spends the day learning how the system behind the latter works and has to attack Angmar as her initiation into the school.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Eda keeps a shotgun, a human realm weapon, hidden under her couch.
    • Boscha can sense how off-putting it is when Emily's affectionate with Stella.
    • Amity discovers she can understand Ghost, yet can't figure out why.
    • Odalia remembers a conversation from her past that will be brought up again.
  • Forgiveness: Though neither Luz or Lilith are able to forgive themselves for their respective misdeeds, Luz forgives Lilith for accidentally killing her mother.
  • From Bad to Worse: After losing his First Friend, Hunter loses the rest of them and his relationship with Edric because of all his secrets. Meanwhile, Kikimora loses her job and gets demoted while being immediately replaced.
  • The Ghost:
    • Belos mentions Darius and that he's been talking to him about Hunter's mental state.
    • Bill, Goonla, Tiny Nose and Flora D'Splora are brought up when the Owl family discuss potential leads on dimensional travel.
    • Ukla's friend Yuki is brought up, Emily having done something to her.
    • Hunter remembers Ludo and what he learned from him.
    • Tom doesn't physically appear, but he's mentioned to be passing a note to Boscha at the end of the day.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: Geist decides to give Edric some ice scream after he breaks up with Hunter.
  • Heartfelt Apology: Before leaving Hexside, Boscha apologizes to Willow and Skara for everything she did to them and asks that they pass it on to Luz and Amity since they're absent today.
  • I Didn't Tell You Because You'd Be Unhappy: To alleviate Luz from her guilt, Lilith tells her she accidentally murdered Camila and she didn't speak up both because she was afraid Luz would hate her even more and that she'd become more upset by the news.
  • Immediate Sequel: The beginning continues from at least a few minutes after the end of the last chapter, with Amity comforting Luz as Eda tries to contact Raine and warn them about the Emperor being onto them.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Within the first few seconds of her arrival at Glandus, Boscha witnesses a student stabbing a teacher in a knife fight.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • Flapjack leaves the Bat Queen's care and bonds with Hunter, effectively becoming his palisman.
    • Luz has become aware of Belos needing to consume palismen to curb his condition.
  • Interdimensional Travel Device: Witch Rick supplies Luz with a portal gun that runs on Titan's Blood instead of portal fluid; only thing is the blood is unstable and of low supply due to drying up so she basically has one use. Luz uses it at the end of the chapter, but opens a portal to Amphibia instead of Earth.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Willow, Skara and the twins are now aware of Hunter's deception and what happened to Luz the night before with the rest of their friends knowing the truth as well and Eda later tells Odalia. Emperor Belos is also aware of Kikimora's hand in that debacle.
    • Willow, Skara, Cat and Simon learn about Boscha getting transferred with Ms. Traveler already being aware of it.
    • Lilith finally confesses in killing Camila to Luz and informs her about her indebtedness to the Baron.
    • Felicia is informed about Luz's ability to use spell circles.
    • Luz meets Captain Hook and Smee for the first time and is given a few hints at what happened to Neverland.
  • Introdump: Several students and teachers at Glandus High are introduced in this chapter, namely the top students and the principal.
  • In with the In Crowd: To be accepted at Glandus High, Boscha is ordered to attack a helpless Angmar as an initiation ceremony. She refuses to go through with it, so she's attacked by most of the top students.
  • It's All My Fault: Eda takes full responsibility for Hunter bugging the Owl House and putting Camila & Raine in danger of the Emperor while Luz keeps ignoring Kikimora and Hunter's parts in Maya's death.
  • Kick the Dog: Boscha ends up getting ganged up on by Glandus' top students for refusing to hurt Angmar, all the while Cain doesn't lift a finger to help her.
  • Kid Has a Point: Seeing the Bat Queen won't budge on her decision of Luz never getting a palisman, Amity implores she let Palisman Adoption Day continue, as her spite and keeping the palismen from being adopted won't change Maya's fate, either.
  • Lampshade Hanging: After being so casually greeted by Ms. Traveler, Camila questions if anybody told her about her revival. King and Lilith simply shrug.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Continuing from the previous night, Kikimora is demoted to coven scout for trying to kill Hunter and immediately replaced with Abel.
  • Left the Background Music On: As Boscha and Simon say goodbye (by clasping hands and flexing their muscles), a bard student plays a guitar riff in the background.
  • Locked Out of the Loop:
    • Due to attacking Kikimora before demoting her and sending her off, Belos shakes her up enough to make her forget about telling him of Luz absorbing Maya's essence last night. For once, he's the one in the dark regarding one of her secrets.
    • Eda has never told anyone about her killing a human girl as a teenager while transformed into the Owl Beast, mostly because she doesn't want Lilith to feel any more guilt over cursing her.
  • The Lost Lenore: Belos tells Hunter that he "had his own Edric" once, but lost them.
  • The Mole: Felicia is revealed to be one for her mother in order to get scoops on Luz and anyone acquainted with her; Luz finds out and makes Felicia her Reverse Mole. Ms. Heinous is also implied to be this for Oberon.
  • Moonwalk Dance: Tito does this as the top juniors are introduced.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • In the flashback, Vina refers to William as "Sir William", the same name as the possible basis for Hunter in the Owl House pilot.
    • Prof. Blanc uses his canon name, Hermonculus, as his alias to try and get hired at Hexside again.
  • New Meat: Being a new student puts Boscha in this category.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Prof. Blanc made one more attempt to get his job back, but Principal Bump had him escorted off school grounds.
    • Whatever Emily did to Yuki and led Ukla to fight her.
  • Not-So-Imaginary Friend: The version of Otabin that Luz made her imaginary friend was real.
  • Number Two: Stella Northstar to her girlfriend Emily Tricks, who sports silver sleeves and serves as her aide.
  • Obviously Evil: Principal McScream has red skin, black horns, and he is named after the demon Mephisto. He's not hard to figure out.
  • Once More, with Clarity: Luz having Otabin as a Not-So-Imaginary Friend and meeting the Bat Queen in her childhood are shown in flashbacks.
  • On the Next: The teaser for the next set of chapters has shades of this.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: Amity calls Hunter one for taking advantage of his friends' trust.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: When Edric and Emira show up at the library to see Amity, they've come without their concealment stones, showing their true appearances in public. In addition, Emira calls Amity "Mittens" in a very quiet voice lacking the usual teasing tone and Edric's depression about Hunter shows in that he's been crying a lot.
  • Out of Focus: Willow and Skara are the only main characters who appear without providing anything significant to the plot. Viney is only mentioned and Gus, Jerbo and Barcus don't show up at all.
  • Parental Neglect:
    • Felicity is revealed to have pulled her daughter out of St. Epiderm, taking Felicia away from her friends just so she could have an inside source at Hexside to get her scoops on Luz and her friends after her promotion. She also tells her daughter that she'll have to walk home if she's unable to get any new information on Luz.
    • Nicole also shows signs of this, refusing to take Boscha's injuries seriously and prefering she just learn to adapt to Glandus High's environment.
  • Papa Wolf: Belos threatens to kill Kikimora for her attempt on Hunter's life and will do it if she tries it again.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Prof. Blanc's only method of disguise for reapplying for his job was to use abomination goop as a big mustache. Bump tears it off, not fooled for a second.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Ms. Traveler decides to drop by the Owl House to talk to Luz about the previous night's events after she and Amity don't attend school and helps Eda with her own lingering guilt. She also gives Boscha her card so she can call if she ever needs her advice.
    • Boscha refuses to attack the weakened Angmar as if he's Willow, saying it won't prove anything.
    • Flapjack vouches for Luz to the Bat Queen, taking responsibility for leaving the palisman nest and lowering the shield, thus allowing Hunter to take it.
    • After hearing about Boscha returning home seriously injured, Cat visits the Hieron residence to treat her injuries after Simon informs her what happened. And he only knew what happened because Cain told him, and this was after he had to let the top students wail on her. Plus, Athena allows them into their home before Nicole slams the door on them.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Just like with Luz and Amity, Hunter doesn't explains his visions to Edric only saying what he does for Belos is for everyone's own good. This just earns him Em threatening him after Ed shuts him out for good.
  • Precision F-Strike: "Titan Dammit..."note
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Eda gives one to Odalia when she says she's not mad at her.
Eda: "You want to know what I am mad about though?" (takes a deep breath) "I'm mad at you for forcing your daughter to end her friendship with Willow on her birthday. I'm mad at you for making your daughter feel like she couldn't come to you after she was mugged. I'm mad at you for trying to manipulate my daughter behind your kid's back. I'm mad at you for trying to force your daughter to stay away from Luz. I'm mad at you for trying to control your daughter's life and future, for not letting her be her own witch. I'm mad at you for being a bad mother. And you know why? Because I love this kid. I really do. So does my sister. So does my Luz. And I know so do you. But if your kids decide that they hate you, then you have only yourself to blame."
  • Reread Bonus: Upon discovering Emily has golden sleeves on her uniform and Stella has moving pigtails, you know they were the girls who vandalized the Owl House in "The Book of King".
  • The Reveal:
    • The events of the last chapter weren't the first time that Luz heard the deep voice that told her to devour Maya and her childhood imaginary friend Otabin was a Not-So-Imaginary Friend implied to be connected to the voice.
    • Iago is now an operator for the Order, and he says Genie talked him into taking the job.
    • Eda killed her first human friend, who had saved her from being mugged, while in the Owl Beast form.
    • Ms. Traveler is already somehow aware of Camila having been resurrected.
    • Lilith told Luz about Belos feeding on palisman essence before.
    • Bill suggested Luz build a dimensional portal to travel to Earth, but she decides against it due to its complicated design and their limited resources.
    • Ms. Heinous is the Beastkeeping teacher at Glandus and is working for Oberon. Prof. Blanc has also become the abominations teacher there after his last failed attempt to be rehired at Hexside.
    • Glandus' student hierarchy is based around the strongest students in each year: 5 sophomores (4 currently, the knights), 3 juniors (the generals) and the sole senior.
      • Bangles was one of the top sophomores and the top student of the Healing track.
      • Tito is top student of Glandus' bard track and one of the top three juniors alongside Nina and Simon's brother Cain, the best of the construction track.
      • Tito is also Captain of the school's cheer squad, dance troupe, and a former member of a band called the Jackwitch 6.
    • As hinted by Mattholomule in "No Dancing Around" and officially confirmed in this chapter, Glandus doesn't have an illusion track.
    • Flapjack and Ghost were acquainted with the Clawthorne family, but Ghost ran away when they saw Philip consume a palisman.
    • Belos had a nephew named Caleb and was close to his father. He also had a love interest whom he had lost.
    • Felicia didn't want to transfer from St. Epiderm: Felicity made it happen so her daughter could get info on Luz and her friends.
    • Captain Hook and Smee escaped Neverland while it was being attacked by winged creatures.
    • Witch Rick is revealed to be one of Eda's ex-boyfriends and Summer, Katya's friend, is his granddaughter. He knows about Luz being a cambion and he has a portal gun that runs on Titan blood: problem is he hasn't been able to leave the Isles for some time since it has a limited supply.
  • Reverse Mole: After learning why Felicia was transferred to Hexside, Luz makes her her personal information broker, saying whenever she comes to Felicia asking for something, she expects answers.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Hook and Smee hightail it out of the Bar Brawl, leaving Luz to take on the patrons herself.
  • Second-Act Breakup: Having heard about everything Hunter's done and kept secret, Edric dumps him and tells him to never talk to him again, breaking Hunter's heart.
  • Secret-Keeper: Luz and Lilith agree to keep their talk about Camila's death and Lilith being indebted to the Baron from their family until they're ready to tell them: everyone is more than willing to wait.
  • Sequel Hook: The Owl House residents begin researching Titan's Blood so they can make a portal to the human realm, Belos is left in the dark about Luz absorbing Maya for now, Amity realizes only she is able to understand Ghost and the chapter ends with Sprig and his two companions getting stuck in the Boiling Isles.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Iago's appearance officially cements Aladdin into the series' storyline, with Iago referring to Genie as "the Blue Wonder", which is what he called him in Aladdin: The Series.
    • Boscha and Simon's way of saying goodbye is an arm clasp similar to the arm-wrestling scene from Predator.
    • McScream and Cooker are based off of Chris McLean and Chef Hatchet, the hosts from the Total Drama franchise. McScream's way of kicking weak students out of Glandus is to fire them out of the Cannon of Shame, the elimination method used in Pahkitew Island.
    • Ms. Heinous, another character from Star vs. the Forces of Evil, is introduced.
    • The phrase "It's called a hustle, sweetheart" is used again when a main character extorts someone. In addition, Weaselton is based off of Duke Weaselton and his correcting his name by saying it isn't "Wesselton" is based around the Duke of Weselton. Him specializing in plant magic references Duke smuggling night howlers in Zootopia.
    • Tito was part of a band called the Jackwitch 6. As if he wasn't enough of a Michael Jackson knockoff.
    • Luz asks a winged monkey how he got to the Boiling Isles. He mentions that a twister brought him there, but he doesn't recommend it since in his experience witches and twisters don't mix well.
    • Ghost being one of the Bat Queen's refugee palisman and Lilith's knowledge of Belos relying on palisman essence feel like they've already happened before...
    • Witch Rick Sanchez makes his physical debut with his relation to Summer Smith being noted.
    • The end of the chapter introduces Sprig Plantar of Amphibia, along with Anne Boonchuy and as the next chapter reveals, Marcy Wu.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: When Boscha starts her first day at Hexside, she dons the school's uniform. Per Nicole's request of having her in the potions track, her sleeves and leggings are changed from gray to yellow.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Principal McScream clearly has a high opinion of himself, but Boscha has never even heard of him, much to his irritation.
  • The Stinger: The chapter closes with a teaser into the next set of chapters, detailing Mabel getting captured by the Blind Eye Society, several confrontations, a few looks into the past, Amity acquiring Ghost along with facing off against Emily and Hunter, another fae coming to the Boiling Isles in the form of Sly the Pied Piper and Luz considering making a deal with Bill Cipher!
  • Sucky School: Glandus High. The principal is a sadist who records the suffering of his students, teachers and students getting into knife fights isn't treated as out of the ordinary, expelled students are literally fired out of a cannon, the teachers are allowed to physically abuse their students because they are given "special disciplinary privileges", and the strong are encouraged to bully those weaker than them.
  • Talk to the Fist: More like "Talk to the Fist, then the Sword". Edric slugs Hunter in the face for lying to him, and Emira threatens him at swordpoint to never come near Edric again.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted. In the aftermath of Hunter losing his friendship with Luz and being dumped by Edric, Belos decides to take his nephew out of the field and put him in therapy. Luz also talks about her guilt with Ms. Traveler, who came to the Owl House after learning she and Amity stayed home.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: After hearing Cain's not going to help her, Boscha realizes how much hurt she's in for at the hands of the rest of the top students.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone:
    • Lilith, who has been suffering from guilt and self-loathing while owing her soul to the Baron, gets forgiven by Luz when she admits to her niece that she killed Camila.
    • Boscha, who was ganged up on by the top students of Glandus, gets a visit from a sympathetic Simon and Cat, the latter proceeding to heal her.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The final scene was the last scene in the Book 2 teaser from Book 1 (and by sheer coincidence, it's followed by a new trailer after the author's notes and the previous chapter's reviews).
  • Twitchy Eye: McScream does this when Boscha tells him she doesn't know who she is.
  • The Un-Reveal:
    • Are we gonna question the fact that Eda keeps a shotgun under the couch!?
    • How did Ms. Traveler learn about Camila?
  • The Voice: Iago doesn't physically appear, he's only heard speaking.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Everyone cuts Hunter out of their lives after learning he's the Golden Guard and what happened in Latissa, with Luz and Edric blocking him on Penstagram.
  • Wham Episode: Edric dumps Hunter for lying to him and hurting both his and Luz's families, Kikimora is demoted to coven scout and replaced by Belos' old friend Abel Reisender as his assistant, Boscha officially starts attending Glandus, Lilith confesses to Luz about killing Camila, the Owl House crew starts looking into portal-making techniques and using a portal gun acquired from Witch Rick, they open a portal to Amphibia, which ends up closing and getting Sprig Plantar and his two human associates stuck in the demon realm.
  • Wham Shot:
    • 5-year-old Luz sees a Living Shadow take the form of Otabin.
    • Three figures come crashing out of a portal, two of them being human and the third... being a pink frog.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: While we're shown how Angmar's fared and know Bria's gone missing, no word is given on Gavin's fate following the events of "No Fooling Around".
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Edric breaks up with Hunter because his actions against Lilith led to his little sister risking her life for her girlfriend and he invaded the privacy of both his family and Luz's for his uncle.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Ms. Traveler and Lilith both assure Luz that she's nothing like Belos, with the latter telling her she's more like her.
  • You Are Not Alone: Lilith assures Luz she's not the only person who accidentally took an innocent life, right before she confesses which life she took.
  • You Owe Me: The reason Luz makes Felicia her info broker is mainly because she owes her for outing Amity as a nameless witch (and also because she pities Felicia.)
