Art by Crash X Fusion: Poor guy's just come to a serious decision...

Robbie gets captured by the Society of the Blind Eye, so the kids mount a rescue; a new perspective brings Luz and Amity much closer than they expect.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Amicable Exes: Robbie decides to end his relationship with Wendy knowing she won't come with him when he leaves town. She's taken back at being the dumped one for once, but otherwise holds nothing against him.
  • Bag of Holding: Amity's bag turns out to have a massive amount of room, allowing her to bring an entire cooler full of cola home with her along with the books she got.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: Downplayed at first when Luz gives Amity a peck on the cheek without thinking after bringing her home. Then played straight when she attempts to leave and Amity pulls her into an actual liplock.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Hooty once again intrudes in the opening statement, going as far as to interact with JP.
  • Brick Joke: Last chapter, Stan warned Dipper not to summon the devil with the book of demons Amity gave him or tell him he was there if he did. Dipper ends up summoning a demon that has history with Stan at the end of the chapter.
  • Call-Back:
  • The Cameo:
    • Quentin Trembley makes a brief appearance, unintentionally having a hand in thwarting Rev. Jones and Farmer Sprott's kidnapping.
    • Edric and Emira appear to congratulate Amity for kissing Luz, while the woman drinking tea observes it.
    • Lucifer Morningstar makes a cameo at the end of the chapter when Dipper summons him.
  • Crush Blush: A few between Luz & Amity of course, the most prominent example being after Luz kisses Amity on the cheek.
  • Do You Trust Me?: This is namedropped by Luz when she offers to show Amity more of the Northwest before returning home.
  • Dramatic Irony: Robbie is unable to forget everything that happened to him and was just rescued from the people who could have made him forget.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Farmer Sprott says his and Jones' names out loud while they're holding Robbie hostage. When Jones chastises him for it, Sprott reminds him Robbie's just going to forget anyway, which Jones admits is a good point.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Tats agrees to become the new reverend so his mother will be proud of him.
  • First Kiss: Between Luz and Amity. Emira also reveals it's Amity's literal first kiss.
  • Flight of Romance: The Song Parody features one over most of the Northwestern USA.
  • Forceful Kiss: Downplayed. Luz kisses Amity's cheek on impulse and upon realizing what she did, apologizes and attempts to leave while chewing herself out. Played straight when Amity pulls her into a real kiss.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Tambry acts rather withdrawn when saying goodbye to Robbie and asks that he keep in touch with her.
    • The mystery woman stirring tea in Blight Manor is seen again.
  • Funny Background Event: When Luz claims there's tiny people controlling the ball in the mini-golf obstacles, the pirate Liliputtians aim their cannons at her, only stopping when she says she's joking.
  • The Ghost: Raine Whispers is mentioned by Luz, Eda having told her about them and how they were in the Bard track too.
  • The Glomp: Mabel gives Luz a surprise hug after hearing what she says about discrimination and tells her she is appreciated. Later, Mabel is subjected to this by Pacifica.
  • Hands-On Approach: Amity asks Luz to show her how to putt properly. It doesn't take long for Luz to notice how close they are and Amity only realizes it after she sinks the shot.
  • Held Gaze: Luz and Amity after their kiss.
  • Immediate Sequel: Things pick up just after Robbie's kidnapping, where Amity decides to take action.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Farmer Sprott being removed from the Society of the Blind Eye still happens.
  • Internal Reveal: Dipper, Mabel, Soos, Wendy, Candy and Grenda witness Luz taking on her alternate form. Pacifica does too, along with learning she and Amity are actual witches.
  • Journey to Find Oneself: Robbie decides to leave Gravity Falls after no longer being able to handle the town's strangeness. He doesn't know where he's going to go, but he doesn't care.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: For catching the attention of Luz and the Pines (which was noticed by the Anonymous Benefactor), Rev. Jones and Farmer Sprott are removed from the Blind Eye Society on Blind Ivan's orders to make an example of them. It's then revealed that Jones erased his memory so much, he's got dementia so he's sent to the retirement home.
  • Laugh of Love: Pacifica after Mabel makes a joke.
  • Leaving You to Find Myself: To leave town without causing any distress, Robbie breaks up with Wendy. She accepts it, but not without being a little bummed that she got dumped for once.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Amity is able pull herself together to rally the others into saving Robbie: from that point on, she Luz, the twins and their friends pull out all the stops in stopping Jones and Sprott.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Luz's second form is shown to have thick skin, protecting her from the bullets shot by the benefactor's drone.
  • Out of Focus: Neither Eda nor Hooty (not counting his appearance in the opening statement) appear in the chapter along with King, who wasn't in the previous one.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • The Blind Eye Society is introduced much sooner than in canon Gravity Falls, and Farmer Sprott is kicked out of the organization far earlier.
    • Luz and Amity share their first kiss on the lips before they became an Official Couple, and said kiss happens while the story's still set during the events of Season 1.
  • Police Are Useless: Subverted. For once, Blubs and Durland take the crime seriously, promising to keep an eye out for any of the Blind Eyes kidnapping people and taking Robbie home since he's shaken up from everything.
  • Post-Kiss Catatonia: A double female example. After their kiss, Luz and Amity stare at each other until they realize what they just did and completely freeze up. As a result, Owlbert flies under Luz and takes her home while Edric and Emira bring Amity inside once they congratulate her for taking the initiative and realize she's in shock.
  • Put on a Bus: Robbie when he decides to leave.
  • The Reveal: Someone is working with the Blind Eye Society with an interest in the portal key, which means they know about the demon realm.
  • Shipper on Deck: Blubs and Durland admit that Luz (despite being a pain to them) and Amity do look cute together.
  • Ship Tease:
    • After dropping Pacifica back home and getting flustered after making her laugh, Mabel gets hugged by her calling her a natural at it.
    • Tambry requests that Robbie keep in touch with her when saying goodbye and acts playfully annoyed when he calls her "Tambers".
  • Shout-Out:
    • The sticker Mabel gives Amity says "Meowo to Hero" and bears the image of a cat dressed as a Greek hero. Sound familiar?
    • After Amity makes a hole in one out of anger, a surprised Luz quips that Happy Gilmore was right for relying on it.
    • The chapter has a Song Parody of "A Whole New World" with Luz as Aladdin, Amity as Jasmine and Owlbert providing the role of the Magic Carpet.
    • The demon summoned at the end of the chapter is Lucifer Morningstar from Hazbin Hotel. The curse used to summon him is based off of "Hey Mickey" by Toni Basil.
  • Sinister Surveillance: The Anonymous Benefactor uses a drone to monitor Luz's assault on Jones and Sprott, which is then used to attack Luz before Amity destroys it.
  • Squee: Amity after sinking a hole in one on the 18th hole. Luz even namedrops it, causing Amity to blush and deny it.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Pacifica implies that Robbie is this when he doesn't immediately thank everyone for saving him, only for Mabel to remind her he's in shock. It's subverted when Robbie does thank Amity.
  • Wham Episode: Robbie decides to leave Gravity Falls for a while, Rev. Jones and Farmer Sprott are removed from the Blind Eye Society who are working with some woman interested in acquiring the portal key, the Pines twins and a few of their friends learn about Luz's Super Mode (which gains wings), and Luz and Amity share their First Kiss.
