Art by Crash X Fusion: Better wish them luck, because in Gravity Falls, things always get messed up.

To get Amity's mind off recent events, Luz takes her on a date to Gravity Falls.

  • Behind a Stick: Soos actually thought he could hide from Luz and Amity behind a lamppost, which he calls himself out on.

  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Luz senses Mabel approaching her and Amity right before Mabel loudly makes her presence known.
  • Genre Savvy: Upon meeting Vanz Ator, Luz questions if he's the devil (with him saying he doesn't bargain with souls) and mentions having seen several movies about making deals with shady pawn shop owners.
  • The Ghost:
    • Lilith is repeatedly mentioned; first by Odalia who remembers her deal to let Amity spend time with Luz, who compares her straightened hair to Lilith's. Amity later brings up her relationship with Luz being complicated.
    • Blind Ivan is mentioned before he formally debut in the next chapter.
  • Girlfriend in Canada: Played with. When Edric teases Emira about her crush again, she fires back by saying [Viney's] more real than his imaginary boyfriend. He claims he is real, just busy most of the time.
  • "I Know What We Can Do" Cut: Luz does this to get Amity's mind off of Rev. Jones and Farmer Sprott.
Luz: I think I know just the thing…
    Amity: Really? What?
    Luz: Big Gunz Laser Tag!
Amity: Did you really have to wait ten minutes to answer my question?
Luz: Yeah, it's called dramatic flair.

  • Locked Out of the Loop: Intentionally invoked. Dipper asks Candy and Grenda to keep Mabel busy so she doesn't interfere with Luz's date. She ends up finding out anyway because Pacifica wasn't aware of their plan and pointed out that she spotted Luz from her family's parade float.
  • Lovable Rogue: Soos describes Luz as such for Gravity Falls.

  • Shout-Out:
    • Odalia sings her own variation of "Mother Knows Best" from Tangled early on.
    • Luz claims that the inhibitor bracelet Vanz Ator gives her is from Hot Topic.
    • Amity's date outfit is inspired by Cindi Lauper, along with 80's punk girl fashion.
    • All the books Amity sees being given away are of stories that were turned into Disney movies: Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.
  • Showdown at High Noon: The laser tag match between Wendy's friends and Luz's team serve as this. At one point, Luz and Wendy face off against each other in a quick draw.
  • Spanner in the Works: Pacifica wasn't told of Luz coming to Gravity Falls with Amity because she was in the parade with her family, thus not hanging out with Mabel. As a result, she ends up informing Mabel about Luz's date after she sees Luz and her friends get her away from her parents.
  • That Came Out Wrong: The small books Rev. Jones sells at his stand are called "Dick Tracks", so when Amity knocks them to the ground, this happens:
Jones: My Dick Tracks! (Some townspeople stare.) I meant my small books!
