Good Parents in Anime & Manga.

  • The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You: The parents of the girlfriends run the full spectrum of Abusive Parents, Parents as People, and Good Parents. Among the Good Parents:
    • For all that Karane regards her family as Amazingly Embarrassing, being that it consists of four generations of Tsundere under one roof, she readily agrees with Rentarou that they are a wonderful, loving family.
    • Meme's parents are completely accepting of their daughter's intense shyness and preference to not have her full face seen, even though this means they haven't seen her face since she was an infant. This is at least partly influenced by Meme doing her Ninja Log trick as a baby and scaring the hell out of them.
    • The first time we see Gentle Giant Yamame's father is a flashback during a moment of Height Angst on her part, turning off a show with a guy saying he would never date a girl taller than him, calling the show trash. A flashback story also shows the steps he takes to help Yamame when her accidental squishing of a bug leaves her traumatized. Along with helping her hold a funeral for the bug he takes the rather extreme step of hypnotizing Yamame into believing the bug had forgiven her, and training her to use stilts to help prevent a reoccurrence.
    • Suu loves numbers more than she does most people, viewing them as Companion Cubes; her first crush was a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place podium her kindergarten used for sports days. Suu became distraught on realizing graduating kindergarten meant leaving the podium, which prompted her mother to arrange to take it off the kindergarten's hands, and Suu has kept it to the present day. Suu's mother took these steps in part because she was surprised the otherwise apathetic Suu was actually crying.
  • Ai no Wakakusa Monogatari has Fredrich and Mary "Marmee". They clearly love their girls and the feeling is mutual. Aunt March most likely was, too, since her nephew does remember her quite fondly.
  • Attack on Titan:
    • Grisha and Carla Yeager. They are shown to have been very loving parents and their son and daughter both adored them. It was the death of Carla that kick-started Eren's desire to join the Survey Corps and kill every Titan that he can. Grisha is a bit more of a complex case and was shown to be resented by his older son Zeke due to being an Abusive Parent alongside his first wife and the real identity of the Smiling Titan, Dina. He eventually learned from his mistakes and took this current trope to his youngest son, Eren.
    • Mikasa's biological parents as well.
    • Sasha's parents are shown to be this, as they run an orphanage and don't entirely resent the person that killed their daughter.
  • Berserk: Guts and Casca to the Moonlight Boy who is later revealed to be their son. While Guts was sickened by him at first and tried to kill him due to him looking a Fetus Terrible. When he returns later looking like a normal toddler both Guts and Casca coddle him, play with him and of course protect him from all harm and given how many vile, abusive and just plain bad parents exist in this series, it makes their efforts stand out very brightly. Although unfortunately their son shares his body with Big Bad Griffith.
  • Bokura no Hentai:
    • Marika has no father in her life. Her mother is portrayed as nothing but sweet and supportive. She is never shown being negative or harsh towards Marika for her feminine nature and even let her wear skirts until kindergarten. When Marika came out as transgender in middle school she accepted it easily and begins to see her as her daughter instead of her son.
    • Satoshi's family apparently consists of him, his mother, and his several older sisters. His mother is nice and is fine with his crossdressing.
  • Cardcaptor Sakura: Fujitaka is a mix of this and Parents as People. We get to see him around and be a good dad, but we also see him working so hard that he can't spend as much time with them as the three need. He also knows it and sometimes kicks himself for this, apologizing to Touya for giving him a partial Promotion to Parent and pretty much having to run from work in the Sick Episode when Sakura is bedridden.
  • Sanae and Akio of CLANNAD. Just about the best parents ever, if a little eccentric sometimes. In their backstory, though, they were neglectful of Delicate and Sickly Nagisa when she was little... until she almost fell victim to her condition. Later, they're the best grandparents to Ushio when Tomoya goes Disappeared Dad after Nagisa's Death by Childbirth, but it's strongly implied that they're also Stepford Smilers that love Ushio genuinely, but don't allow themselves to grieve for Nagisa in order to raise her child well and lovingly. At some point Sanae is even seen tearing up while talking to Tomoya, due to this.
  • Daimos is full of these.
    • Isamu Ryuuzaki was a caring father to Kazuya, and even though he's deceased, Kazuya pilots Daimos by thinking about him. It's implied Isamu raised him as a single dad since Kazuya's mother is never mentioned. Isamu was also a pacificist and welcomed several of Baam-seijin refugees to Earth after their previous planet was destroyed, being moved by their plight.
    • Dr. Izumi is this to Kazuya as well. He is a good caretaker to his granddaughter Nana, and also raised Kazuya after Isamu's death. He was also the one who taught him karate.
    • On the alien's side, we have King Leon. He asked that Wallin raise Erika to be a doctor as he opposed war and supported peace. He was nothing short of doting to both his kids, but his death sent his son Richter over the edge and caused him to become a broken, revenge-seeking man.
  • Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Despite raising six kids alone, Kie Kamado clearly loves all of them and Tanjiro does not take it well when he sees her corpse alongside his siblings.
  • Digimon:
    • The Digimon Tamers have some pretty good parents, all things considered. Special mention goes to Jenrya's dad, Ruki's grandma and Takato's parents.
    • Pretty much goes for the parents in Digimon Adventure 01-03, all shown to be caring parents for their children, very unusual in a children's show.
  • Dragon Ball:
    • Krillin and Android 18 are loving, caring parents to Marron.
    • Mr. Satan (Hercule in the edited for TV versions) is this towards Videl, despite being a tad bit overprotective sometimes.
    • Gohan and Videl are extremely loving to Pan.
    • Bulma herself to her children Trunks and Bra.
  • The Shimogamo mother of the The Eccentric Family genuinely believes, in stark contrast with the common consensus, that all of her four sons are excellent raccoon-dogs each and every one of them fit to succeed their deceased father—a great community leader.
  • Fruits Basket: A rare commodity, especially among the Sohmas.
    • Hiro's mom is one of the very few good parents for a Zodiac member (that we see), although she still inevitably embarrasses her twelve-year-old son every so often. Kagura's parents also get an award for being pretty decent.
    • Saki Hanajima has loving parents who are about as understanding as can be expected, considering her inexplicable Psychic Powers.
    • In flashbacks, Tohru's mom is shown to have been pretty wonderful — working hard to support her as a single mom but still spending time with her, telling her to always be herself and to go at her own pace — even providing parental words of wisdom to other people's kids when they really needed it. And middle school graduation parties.
    • Kyo's foster father, though he initially took him in to atone for his treatment of the previous Cat, did a remarkable job raising him — probably the best thing he did was treat him with respect. (For instance, when Kyo was young, and they encountered some Sohma women gossiping about how Kyo as good as killed his mother, he picked Kyo up and said "It's time you breathed the air of higher places", shaming the women into silence.) Though a teacher once questioned his parenting because of Kyo's problem behavior, Kyo probably turned out as well as he could have, given the circumstances. Having a parent he could trust and turn to was likely what kept him from giving over to despair entirely.
    • Kisa's mom seemed like she was another rejective Zodiac parent when we first meet her, but in reality she was just stressed over not knowing her daughter was being bullied. To Momiji's relief, she later called Tohru to tell her what Kisa liked to eat.
    • For her own overapologizing faults, Ritsu's mother genuinely loves her son and hoped Tohru could be friends with him.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist:
    • Edward and Alphonse's parents totally qualify.
      • Trisha Elric was a kind and loving mother who praised her two children for their alchemy—in fact they became alchemists purely because their mother was so proud of them.
      • Their father, Van Hohenheim, is a more complex case; he seems to have failed them by abandoning them, but then we learn he left to help save the country, and when he's back in their lives he's a good, loving father who's also proud of his kids. He even glared at an Eldritch Abomination to warn him to never mock his sons.
    • Maes Hughes also qualifies. While he may be a little overprotective, you really can't claim that he wasn't a damn good father to Elicia. Gracia, his wife, also counts as his Closer to Earth counterpart.
    • There's also a good case to be made for Pinako Rockwell, Winry's grandmother who takes the girl in after her parents die in Ishval. It's very clear that Pinako loves Winry with all her heart and tries to do as best as she can for not only Winry, but also Ed and Al, who she insists will always have a home with her and Winry.
  • Every parent in Happy Happy Clover are very nice. One of the nicest would have to be Mallow's mother,Clover mother and father, an Kale's mother. Despite Clover's mother being stern with her daughter, she is a very sweet mother and is even seen comforting Clover when she runs back crying. While looking for Rambler and runs back home due to being terrified of getting lost since she was in the middle of nowhere.
  • Hello! Sandybell:
    • After Sandybell Christie's father dies, his best friend Kern Longwood takes her in and makes sure she's safe. He encourages her to become a journalist.
    • Even though Papa Shearer spoiled his daughter, Kitty, he tries to be this and encourages Marc to follow his dreams, even if it means breaking Kitty's heart.
    • The Countess of Wellington was a good mother to Marc and her death changed him completely. With his Abusive Dad trying to force him to marry Kitty, Marc runs away and seeks a new life elsewhere.
  • Namie Yaguchi, mother of High Score Girl lead Haruo is an eccentric but loving mother to her son. She will punish Haruo harshly for slacking off on his studies and gets a little too interested when girls visit him. However, she also stands up for Haruo when other adults, like Akira Ono's tutor, bad-mouth him, never denies him his freedom or the video games he's so passionate about (outside of the above mentioned discipline) and even maintains a passing interest in her son's hobbies that frequently surprises Haruo himself. She shows nothing less than genuine pride whenever Haruo displays maturity or puts genuine effort into something, such as taking on a part time job to both help at home and fund his hobbies himself.
  • Idol Densetsu Eriko: Kosuke and Minako Tamura. Both of them cared for Eriko with all their hearts and their reasoning for opposing her being a singer for her own safety - given the drama Eriko endures because of it (fans so obsessed they threaten to harm themselves if she doesn't talk to them, a tabloid slandering her and eroding her mental health, her idol career getting in the way of her schooling), it's not hard to see where they're coming from.
  • I Think Our Son Is Gay: Both Tomoko and Akiyoshi genuinely care about their sons. Tomoko is an Open-Minded Parent who doesn't mind that Hiroki is in the Transparent Closet and supports him until he's ready to come out. Akiyoshi, while often away from home because of his job and unaware Hiroki is gay, tries to be as much of a supporting father to his sons as he can when he is present.
  • Inuyasha:
    • Kagome Higurashi's widowed mother didn't berate or question her daughter when she got involved in quite the plot in the Sengoku Jidai. In fact, thinking that You Can't Fight Fate, she decides to support Kagome in her quests, and so she buys her a bike and contantly gives her treats for her friends. At the end of the series when the well opens one last time after a three year dormancy, she supports Kagome in her decision to return to the Sengoku Jidai, even though she knows she will never see Kagome again.
    • Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's father. He posthumously manages to provide protection for Inuyasha and guidance for Sesshomaru through their swords, Tessaiga and Tenseiga.
    • Inuyasha's mother as well. Given his Dark and Troubled Past is it not far off thinking that the memory of her kept him going and not made him the monster the villagers thought he had to be.
    • Both of Shiori's parents.
  • I Want Your Mother To Be With Me!: Yuzuki is an utterly devoted single mother, becoming a Triple Shifter to care for her young son Asahi, despite it exhausting her. Ryo also counts as he slowly becomes a Parental Substitute to his niece Haruka and to Asahi as he grows closer to him and Yuzuki, and towards the end Asahi even tells Ryo that he'd be okay with him becoming his new dad. Yuzuki's and Ryo's own parents also count, offering their adult children unconditional support and helping them get on their feet.
Mr. Ishizuka: It's because you're an adult that you should rely on us. A person faces more hardships the moment they become one. They'll need someone they can depend on.
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure:
    • Phantom Blood:
      • While he's stricter tow his biological son Jonathan Joestar than towards his adoptive son Dio Brando due to having higher standards for the former, George Joestar nevertheless loved them both dearly and sacrificed himself to save Jonathan from Dio. While dying, all he did was to forgive Dio for killing him and expressing remorse for being overly strict towards Jonathan.
      • While very little was shown of Dio's mother, she's implied to be a very good mother and even after her death, Dio still cared about her.
    • Battle Tendency: Erina Pendleton, Jonathan's wife, raised their grandson Joseph Joestar and is very close to him, only becoming severe when Joseph expresses undisciplined behavior.
    • Joseph Joestar is arguably one of the best examples of the series. He's very close to his daughter Holly and in Stardust Crusaders, he leads the main characters to travel to Egypt and save Holly from DIO's curse. In Diamond is Unbreakable, upon learning about his illegitimate son Josuke Higashikata, he adds him to his inheritance and upon visiting the town of Morioh where Josuke lives, he tries his best to bond with Josuke and respect his wishes. Upon rescuing an invisible baby and unable to find her mother, he adopts her, with the implication he's going to be every bit as good of a father to her as he was to Holly.
    • Stardust Crusaders: Holly Kujo, while a pushover mother easily sees through her son Jotaro's Jerkass behavior, aware of his hidden kindness, of which she's proud. They're close enough for Jotaro to immediately take part in Joseph's trip to Egypt to save her from DIO.
    • Diamond is Unbreakable: Tomoko Higashikata is a good mother to Josuke despite being a single parent, and tries to make sure that Josuke acts responsibly.
    • Golden Wind:
      • While not much was seen of Donatella Una due to her status as a Posthumous Character, her daughter Trish thinks fondly of her, with the implications Donatella raised her well.
      • Bruno Bucciarati's parents, even after their divorce, loved their son dearly. When Bruno chose to stay with his father, aware that he'd be the most affected by the situation, his mother, while saddened by his choice, was proud of his compassion. In order to make sure Bruno would be able to go to a nice school in the city, his father zealously fished and allowed other fishermen to ride his boat on his off days to afford the required tuition.
      • Narancia's mother Mela Ghirga only appeared on her deathbed, but her last words being her son's name as well as the latter's sadness upon seeing her die implies she was close to her son.
    • Stone Ocean: While Jotaro was an absentee father to his daughter Jolyne, the latter was very close with her mother, who raised her alone and frequently worried about her.
    • Steel Ball Run: Diego's mother raised him with utmost care during their life of poverty at a farm. When a crude farmhand destroyed their cups for hot stew, Diego's mother willingly held out her hands to carry the boiling stew and feed it to him.
    • JoJolion: Norisuke has a deep love for his family and can be quite insular. He looks over all of them and loves them, working with Josuke in order to retrieve the cure he thinks Kira had for the Higashikata family Rock Disease and being sorry for Holly's state as she is a relative. Norisuke is particularly close to his eldest son Jobin and his daughter Daiya, while considering Joshu a problem child without scolding him too severely.
    • The JoJoLands: Although she and her husband separated for yet-unknown reasons, Barbara Ann Joestar loves and takes care of her children, and part of the reason why Jodio and Dragona are living a life of crime is to support their mother from the shadows.
  • Just as loving and at least as eccentric: Meimi's parents in Kaitou Saint Tail.
  • Mako Mankanshoku's parents in Kill la Kill are genuinely good and caring people (Though, her father is a bit of a Peeping Tom when it comes to Ryuko.) who immediately accept Ryuko as part of their family and, along with her younger brother, all pitch in to help fight against the Big Bad when the times comes for it.
  • Kyo Kara Maoh!:
    • Shibuya 'Uma-chan' Shouma and his wife Shibuya 'Hamano Jennifer' Miko are pretty awesome parents. Miko-san is a bit of a Cloud Cuckoo Lander and dressed her younger son as a girl until he got old enough to object (he was cute as hell, too), and Shouma is busy, but they're extremely devoted and have a home that radiates security.
    • One of the more fun subtle angles of the show is that as it progresses you see more and more what the lead gets from each of his parents — it's not ham-handed replication or anything either; it's as psychologically sound as you can get in a series where the hero develops a form of Incorruptible Pure Pureness. Bonus points for the fact that Miko and Shouma annoy Yuuri considerably most of the time. Without doing anything in the realm of Amazingly Embarrassing Parents. Except that one time with the photo album, I guess...and that other time with the statue...when they followed him halfway around the world....
  • In The Legend of Snow White, King Conrad and Queen Isabelle are genuinely loving and supportive to their daughter Snow White.
  • From Love Live! School Idol Project, there's Kotori Minami's mother. Mrs. Minami is fine with her daughter's and said daughter's friends' school idol careers so long as they study and pass their exams, which is a reasonable enough condition. In the last few episodes of season 1, Kotori gets an offer to study abroad at a prestigious fashion school; rather than force a decision, Mrs. Minami allows Kotori time to think about whether to pursue the opportunity and the very promising future that's implied with it, or stay in Japan to build a career as an idol instead. Ultimately, Kotori decides at the last minute to ditch her flight to the school in question and rejoin μ's, right in time for a concert no less; her mother can be seen in the crowd, simply smiling as she watches and glad that Kotori is happy with her choice.
  • The need for children to have these is a common Central Theme throughout the Lyrical Nanoha franchise.
    • Precia was one before the events of the first season. The movie remake which delves into her past shows how she would frequently do her best to make time for her daughter as a single mom, despite her demanding job as chief engineer for a corporation with unreasonable executives. Unfortunately, Love Makes You Evil, and the reason why she turned into an insane Evil Matriarch was due to her original daughter dying in a power plant meltdown incident caused by her bosses refusing to heed her warnings, causing her to become obssessed with bringing back her first child.
    • Admiral Lindy Harlaown is another case of a good single parent, but in her case, the TSAB is more accomodating of single parent employees. Raising a son like Chrono who had become withdrawn due to the death of his father is no easy task, and she later she adopts Fate, a little girl who had been raised in an abusive household. Thanks to her efforts, both have gone out from their own shells, growing up to become successful adults and parents themselves. Even then, the sound stages reveal that she's still there to help while she's semi-retired, either in taking care of their kids while they're away or in giving them parental advice for the problems they encounter.
    • Speaking of which, Fate Testarossa Harlaown becomes this by Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, adopting children like her who were raised in an abusive environment, such as Erio, Caro, and Vivio. In fact, the second StrikerS Sound Stage revealed that Fate put a lot of effort into invoking this to avoid ending up like Precia. Before she came, Erio was shown in the supplementary manga to have been reduced to a Wild Child that lashed out at anyone with his powers while Caro was exiled by her tribe for being too powerful and had lived on her own for a long time. Thanks to her, they were given a normal childhood, and when the Big Bad tried to break Fate by pointing out that her adopted children being Child Soldiers made her no different from himself, her adopted children counters the breaking by pointing out that Fate didn't choose this path for them, they chose it themselves and all Fate did was raise them to be strong-willed enough for them to make their decision.
    • Genya and Quint Nakajima are shown to be this towards their daughters Ginga and Subaru, with Genya raising his daughters on his own after Quint died in a mission when they were still young. When Genya feared for the life of his daughter Subaru after Ginga had just been kidnapped by the Big Bad, and was ready to use his military clout to remove Subaru from Riot Force 6 after she was injured, he nonetheless respected the wishes of Subaru when she decided that she wanted to stay to help finish the incident. It's later revealed that Ginga and Subaru were children that were illegally cloned from Quint without her knowledge, which she had decided to adopt regardless because they needed someone to take care of them. Genya would later go on to adopt Cinque, Nove, Dieci, and Wendi for the same reason.
    • Nanoha Takamachi eventually became this with Vivio. Vivio is a Mysterious Waif Clone Jesus with powers and a history that cause several people to seek her out either to obtain or kill her. When Nanoha learned what she is, she and Fate adopted Vivio and raised her as a normal child, giving Vivio enough support and leeway so she could pursue her own goals but doing it with enough strictness so Vivio doesn't abuse her powers for mischief. And may heaven help anyone who decides that it would be a good idea to kidnap Vivio. The last time that happened with Nanoha's knowledge, she literally blasted through an entire Anti-Magic starship to take out one of the perpetrators with a Wave-Motion Gun.
    • From what little is seen of them, Rinne's adoptive parents appear to be this. Most tellingly, the only time she smiles is when she's spending time with them.
  • In the Manga backstory Samus's birthparents and the Chozos Old Bird and Gray Voice are this to Samus. They go to great, great lenghts to protect and help Samus.
  • Lady!!:
    • In the first episode, we're introduced to Misuzu, who willingly uses herself as shield when the truck collides into the car to protect Lynn.
    • George, ultimately. He despises Baroness Madeleine, but when he is told that the only way his father, the Duke, will accept Lynn is if he accepts her marriage proposal, he relents. Lynn is horrified by this and decides to reside in Japan permanently with her grandparents, hoping that her father won't marry the baroness and make Sarah sad. Edward finds out, and begs Lynn to stay, and even Arthur and Sarah rush to the airport to stop her. Once George hears of this, he breaks down and decides not to marry her, because he loves Lynn and can't bear the thought of living without her.
    • Mr and Mrs. Midorikawa. While they're nothing short of sweet to their granddaughter Lynn, it's more ambiguous with their daughter Misuzu. They didn't approve of her marriage with George, causing her to cut ties with them, and it's implied their devotion to Lynn is done out of regret with how they treated her.
  • My Hero Academia:
    • Midoriya's mother is very supportive of her son's desire to be a hero, especially since she feels that she didn't give him the moral support he needed as a child. It crosses over into Parents as People territory when her desire to support his dream of being a superhero conflicts with her concern for his safety; repeated injuries and several highly publicized villain attacks leads her to consider removing him from the hero academy for his own safety, though a Thank You letter from a boy he had saved combined with a Ain't Too Proud to Beg moment from All Might gets her to reconsider.
    • Uraraka's parents are also very supportive of her, as seen when they pay her a surprise visit after the Sports Festival. She wanted to become a hero to support their construction business, but they tell her to do what she wanted in life.
    • Similarly, Kyouka Jirou's parents, who pursued careers in music and passed their love for it to their daughter, are shown to be nothing but supporting and encouraging when Kyouka tells them she wants to become a Pro Heroine. Their response to her apologizing for not following in their footsteps is to tell her to do what she likes, no matter what.
  • Fairly common in Hayao Miyazaki films.
    • My Neighbor Totoro:
      • Professor Kusakabe has got to be the nicest Dad in anime, hands down.
      • Their mother spends most of the movie stuck in the hospital, but she too is a very sweet person, when her daughters visit.
    • Sosuke's mother Lisa in Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea — the Useless Parents would be all over the wall if you brought home a fish girl who turns into a human, but not her.
    • Pod and Homily in Arrietty, even though Homily has a tendency to get a bit hysterical at times.
    • Kiki's parents in Kiki's Delivery Service also qualify, although they don't get much screen time.
  • My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!:
    • Katarina was pretty spoiled growing up and was well on her way to becoming a Spoiled Brat otome game villain. Literally. However, waking up to memories of her past life let her chill out and preemptively nipped some family issues in the bud, leaving her parents a loving couple who doted on her and her new step brother without letting them become obnoxious brats.
    • Sophia and Nicol's parents are also depicted in an incredibly positive manner. In fact, the thing that causes Nicol to become yet another member of Katarina's harem was when she commented how lucky he was to have such a loving family (as people had previously only pitied him for having to look after his sister).
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Relena and Zechs's father, Marticus Rex aka King Peacecraft, was this as well. He actually died to protect baby!Relena and let Mr. Darlian (his Number Two back then) escape with her to safety as the Cinq Kingdom was burned down.
  • Naruto:
    • There are some mums and dads who do get it right. Of the living parents, Choza Akimichi and Shikaku Nara are probably the two who have the best relationships with their kids — although they've both had moments of being angry with their sons, they're still shown to be very close to them. Ino and Inoichi Yamanaka also appear to be close, although their relationship is not given as much screentime.
    • Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki manage to be a loving father and mother towards Naruto from beyond the grave, and Naruto is greatly comforted when he finds out just how far his parents were willing to go for him.
    • Might Duy is perhaps the best example in the whole series. He's loving, supportive, and outright awesome to Guy, instilling in him his never-give-up attitude and philosophy of youth. And when Guy and his genin team were cornered by the Seven Swordsman of the Mist, Duy rushed onto the battlefield, threw open the Eight Gates of Death, and died protecting them.
    • Sasuke more or less had reasonably good parents. His mother Mikoto seemed to be very loving, and while Sasuke did tend to feel that he was The Unfavorite in his father's eyes, not long before his death Fugaku more or less tells him he's proud of him. They were pretty good to Itachi as well. Fugaku and Mikoto respected Itachi's decision to side with Konoha over the Uchiha clan and didn't resent him for their imminent deaths at his blade. They pitied Itachi because he was the one who had to live with this terrible but necessary act and their last request was that he look after Sasuke. Fugaku, like any real father would, states that he was proud of Itachi, no matter what. Itachi subsequently broke down as he killed them, knowing that in spite of them being traitors to the village, they were his parents, and good ones at that.
  • In No. 6, Shion's mom, Karan is a very loving and understanding mother. She takes it all in stride when her son gets in trouble for harboring a criminal and he is kicked out of his elite school, forcing them to give up their house. When her son is on the run, accused of murder, she keeps faith in him returning and sends him messages to try to help. And when her son does finally return with company, she welcomes his boyfriend with open arms as well.
  • Ririka's parents and Seiya's parents are all portrayed positively in Nurse Angel Ririka SOS, but special mention goes to Ririka's father. He has an entire episode dedicated to him. After Ririka misinterprets some gestures he thought were nice, he ends up befriending Ririka's snobbish classmate Miyuki, whose own father is distant due to work. Ririka is jealous when she finds out about it, but Miyuki tells Ririka that she is lucky to have a kind father who wants to spend time with her rather than constantly being at work.
  • One Piece:
    • Queen Otohime. Even when she is exhausted or depressed from her efforts to get the Fish-Man Island residents to sign a peace treaty to cohabit with humans, she never lets her exhaustion or depression appear in front of her children and is shown caring for them very much and spending lots of time with them.
    • King Cobra balances ruling Alabasta and caring for his daughter Vivi. He is occasionally shown to be quite overprotective, following Vivi when she was outside the palace despite encouraging such interaction and becomes a Papa Wolf when bandits tried to kidnap her.
    • Trafalgar Law's parents were shown to be very loving and encouraging towards their children, mentoring their Comically Serious son in his academic pursuits while also making sure that he took time off to relax at festivals and enjoy comic books.
    • Vinsmoke Sora is one of the best examples from the show. When her husband, Judge performed experiments on their unborn quadruplet sons to turn them into emotionless super-soldiers, Sora took a drug to reverse the effects, though it only worked on Sanji. Though it destroyed her health and eventually killed her, she did her very best to support Sanji, giving him the love no one else in the family would and supporting his dreams of cooking. It was ultimately her love and support that made Sanji the person he became.
    • Although technically not their mother by blood Bellemere was deeply loving and supportive mother to Nami and Nojiko. She even gave up own her life to the invading Arlong as she decided she would rather die than pretend she had no daughters which would’ve spared her own life.
  • Ouran High School Host Club:
    • Fujioka "Ranka" Ryouji, Haruhi's father. Although he's a Wholesome Crossdresser, he cares very much for his only child. After the death of his wife Kotoko, he made sure he did everything he could for Haruhi, often working long hours to support them. He's always there to give advice if she needs it, and goes to every school function he can (even if Haruhi tries to keep him from doing so in order for him to rest after long days at work).
    • Tamaki's Missing Mom Anne fits this. In flashbacks she's always shown as a kind, loving woman who cares very much for her son, despite being ill often. Around Chapter 56 or 57 Kyouya finds Anne in France on a class field trip. We see that Anne is very much the loving person she is portrayed as in flashbacks, and has some of the same naivete as Tamaki. Also in flashbacks we see that she feels regret every day for giving Tamaki up to his paternal grandmother in exchange for the Suou family to help her family's business get back on its feet. Tamaki, however, harbors no resentful feelings toward her decision, understanding that it was for the best, and only wants to see her stay healthy in hopes of them reuniting.
