Fanfic / Total Drama All-Stars: Remake

Go To

Total Drama All-Stars: Remake is a completed Total Drama fanfic written by xebla, fixing the mistakes of the show's fifth season: Total Drama All-Stars. It can be found here.

This work contains examples of:

  • 20 Minutes into the Past: Following the tradition of the canon show, seasons take place in a shorter span of time than the real life production, to the point the fanfic started in 2013 and ended in 2020, while in the story they are still living on 2009.
Sierra: "Total Drama Island started in early June 2007, and ended in late July. The special episode happened four days after the finale, which led to Total Drama Action. The cast arrived two days later and spent the next six weeks competing in season two, which ended in the first week of September. The special episode for season two takes place in late February 2008. A week later, Total Drama World Tour begun. It kept going until the second week in April. Revenge of the Island started in June 2008 and ended in the same month. And finally for All-Stars; it'd been a year since season four has ended, making today's date Monday 15th June 2009. If you're watching this in like, 2013, then the production went very slow to show it on TV."
  • Abhorrent Admirer:
    • While it was really toned down, compared to World Tour, being a crazy fan still is Sierra's main trait, she knows everything about her teammates and opponents, accidentally creeping them out. Not to mention her hallucinations with Camody, becoming her former self again.
    • In "Suckers Punched" a 100 of the most devoted Total Drama fans get invited to the show in order to celebrate its 100th episode. They are literally like Sierra, but much worse, stalking and harassing every contestant and acting in violent, disturbing and creepy ways towards them.
  • Abnormal Ammo:
    • Like in canon, they had a challenge of shooting each other with the leech-dartgun. The weapon makes its return in "The Final Wreck-ening" as Scott's weapon of choice.
    • Chef's Pasta Blaster appears in "Seek And Ye Shall Find" and later in "The Final Wreck-ening as Sierra's weapon of choice.
  • Absurd Phobia: Courtney's fear of green jelly plays and important role in several challenges, and comedic moments.
  • Accidental Kiss: Happens to Courtney and Scott in "Seek And Ye Shall Find" the former seemed disgusted while the latter enjoyed it.
  • Action Girl: Courtney, Eva, Sierra and (comando) Zoey. They might be teenage girls, but the could kick any guy/mutant/animal's ass with ease.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Mal. In canon, despite being evil, all he really did was laugh and destroy stuff. Here, he's more of a psychotic monster. He starts a fire that burns 3 of the contestants belongings, brutally attacks Alejandro to the point that he's disqualified from the contest because of the beatdown, harming a family of animals by throwing them into a campfire, and many more.
  • Adapted Out: Sam doesn't compete in the season and is replaced. Justified, as he's been criticized by the fanbase for being in the season since he isn't an all star.
  • The Alleged Car: Most of the boats in "You Regatta Be Kidding Me" were in awful conditions, or sabotaged by Mal, however the luckiest and faster players managed to have at leat a decent vehicle (or share it).
  • Amicable Exes: Gwen and Trent, who like in canon are close friends, despite their breakup.
  • Amusing Injuries: Like in the original show, characters get constantly hurt for comedy sake
  • Animals Hate Him:
    • Scott, like in canon, gets constantly stalked, threatened and beaten up twice by Fang, who wouldn't be happy until the farmer is in his stomach, also he's brutally attacked by crabs, leeches, electric eels, mutant animals, angry raccoons, turtles, and probably many more.
    • Sierra has to be the biggest target of animal attacks this season, she's also stalked by Fang, even though to a slightly minor extent than Scott, gets her blood sucked by leeches on several occasions, electrocuted by eels, is not specially welcome by the mutants underground who threatened her, almost gets eaten by the same bear who mauled Cody, has a camera thrown into her head by a mutant fly, gets headbutted by a mechanical condor, thrown in the air by Larry 3 times, biten by a turtle, viciously attacked by an angry mob of mutants, hit by a kraken, bruised by Douglas and pecked in the head by a chicken.
    • Brick doesn't get attacked by animals that much, but then he has to suffer the warth of a mama mutant bird, who thinks he killed her children, not just for his time in Boney Island, but for a whole tortuous challenge.
  • Art Shift: Used twice, during the hallucination segments in "Sundae Muddy Sundae" and during Noirwor's landscape transformation in "The Final Wreck-ening".
  • Ascended Extra:
    • The Non-Stars Twist basically consist of this trope, adding the not so iconic, yet fan favorites, Brick and Dawn to the Heroic Hamsters, and the characters with wasted potential, Eva and Ezekiel to the Villainous Vultures.
    • Unlike canon, Sierra makes it farther to the merge to the point where she wins the season.
    • Trent, who didn't participate in canon and hasn't been relevant since Action, plays an important role in the season.
  • Back for the Finale: As usual everyone is there for the finale, but now with the added twist of playing an important part in saving the universe.
  • Bandage Mummy: Gwen is forced to leave the island in a full body cast after being crushed by rocks. Surprisingly enough for Total Drama, in this case it's played for drama as it was a near death experience.
  • Big Bad: Noirwor, who is even more scary and dangerous than the psychopath Mal.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy:
    • Dawn, the shortest female this season, and one of the shortest overall, develops a nice friendship and teams up with Sierra, the tallest all-star, only being surpassed by Geoff, DJ and Dakotazoid.
    • Same goes for Cameron, the shortest character of the show, who also is Sierra's friend.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: Blood is spilled in several violent moments during the fic, and, while not common, there are some extremely horrifying injuries.
  • Big Ol' Unibrow:
    • Type I for Duncan and Eva, who are on the villains team.
    • Type II for Brick who is a Heroic Hamster.
Chef: "Anger Girl with a monobrow wins immunity!"
      Eva: "Don't say monobrow!"
      Brick: "Monobrow isn't an insult."
Eva: "I prefer unibrown, monobrow sounds like a moron with a unibrow."
  • Body Horror:
    • After needing critical surgeries and spending months in intense pain and malnutrished inside the trauma chair, Scott's body became quite different from how he was in ROTI, now looking extremely pale, with bags under his eyes, and skinnier due starving and muscle weakness.
    • Alejandro being trapped in the Drama Machine for more than a year after having his bones crushed and being severely burned by lava.
    • Ezekiel's feral state in World Tour and Revenge of the Island.
    • Alejandro's horrific beat up by Mal and disqualification in "Moon Madness"
    • Malcolm's fight with Mal in "Suckers Punched" ends in a very gruesome way.
    • Zoey having several teeth broken by Mal in "You Regatta Be Kidding Me".
    • Basically what Blaineley plans to do to Chris in "Seek And Ye Shall Find"
    • Brick's hallucination about Jo transforming into a mutant gopher, but with her regular head.
    • Gwen's severely bruised, bleeding and pale body after being crushed by rocks.
    • Fang being impregnated by Noirwor and giving birth to Makuta
    • Noirwor transforming into a 10-feet-tall mutant to win the competition
  • Brick Joke: In "Nobody Eggspects the Spanish Opposition" Sierra asks Douglas if the big bad is a guy, but he doesn't respond, several chapter later Sierra continues the same conversation the had, asking again if it was a guy.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Used during the story mostly for comedic purposes.
    • As usual it happens to Brick several times when he's scared.
    • Also it happens to Duncan in Moon Madness when he's being his opposite and gets scared by Chef.
  • Bullet Dancing: A variation of the trope appears in "The Bold and the Booty-Ful" when Sierra tries distract Fang and Douglas by doing the chicken dance... and ends up doing it on the top of a fragile mast while dodging the later fire lasers.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Brick as he's the oficial pain magnet of the season, along with Scott.
    • Scott, like in canon. Even though sometimes he deserves what is happening to him.
  • The Cameo: Every contestant who didn't participate this season makes a cameo during one episode, in fact, they even contributed to the challenges in "Suckers Punched", "Seek And Ye Shall Find" and "Pain Has Three Faces".
  • Caught with Your Pants Down: Implied when Scott explains he once found Sierra doing inappropriate things with her phone
Scott: "Cody, I don't know why the hell you asked her out. You of all people should know she's nuts! I once saw her sucking her phone like it was- Nope. I can't say it!"
  • Celibate Hero:
    • Lightning, Eva and Ezekiel are the only contestants this season to not be in a relationship, try to be in one or have feelings for others. Lightning seems to be in love with himself, though.
    • Gwen becomes this after the love triangle fiasco ends in almost the worst way possible.
    • Same goes for Courtney, but then it gets subverted when she falls in love with Scott, only to get double subverted when all happens to be a manipulation tactic on Courtney's partto get Scott to help her win.
  • Character Development: The point of the season, and Dawn's objective was making the characters grown and redeem themselves, and this aspect clearly shows with the ones who stay long enough in the competition.
    • While Heather didn't have almost any character development this season (mostly due her character arc already being completed in World Tour), she appeared to get closer to Alejandro, played her role in the finale, and showed her grateful and modest side to Sierra, when she gave her the 1.000.000 dollars she couldn't keep after winning World Tour.
    • Duncan, while still having his jerkass moments, matures during the competition, becoming a Jerk with a Heart of Gold once more. Other characters even get surprised by how much he's changed when he confronts Scott for abusing an innocent person, something he constantly did back in the first two seasons.
    • Lightning didn't change much, but he still managed to overcome his desire for revenge and become much nicer and helpful towards the contestants, special mention to "The Final Wreck-ening", in which he saves Scott (after almost killing him) and Sierra from drowning.
    • Courtney has one of the best character arcs, starting the season as a hated slightly authoritarian control-freak, with a strong dislike for Duncan and Gwen, to slowly become friends with several characters, get over being cheated, forgiving Duncan and Gwen, and even managing to become one of Gwen's closest friends. After Duncan's elimination she stops being obsessed with her past and future relationships and focus all her energies on winning All-Stars.
    • Jo starts to open up about her true feelings and grow surprisingly close to Brick, she also has an important role in the final chapter monitoring the circle.
    • Scott has changed considerably after being mauled by Fang back in Revenge of the Island, after his traumatic near death experience, he became more empathetic and understood the value of life. He might still be devious and did really nasty thing during the season, however it's easy to see how he has left his sociopathic past self to become more of an anti-villain, or an anti-Hero when he and Sierra work together to defeat Noirwor and save the universe. From trying to trade Sierra's life so he could get himself saved, to literally saving the Uber Fan from falling into a toxic waste moat, there's a long road of character development.
    • Gwen succeeded in completing her rough redemption arc after a whole season of trying to make amends with Courtney, she got her feelings hurt and had a hard break-up with Duncan but on the other hand she managed to make new friends, being not just forgiven by Courtney, but also her friends and even partially getting over her claustrophobia.
    • This was the best season for Ezekiel as instead of being the first one out, he stopped being a feral mutant, he was no longer an innocent bigot, he proved to be a worthy player and person, and got to know and befriend the other contestants. Something season 1 Ezekiel would never accomplished.
    • Mike had it hard this season controlling Mal, he was trapped inside of his own head for 11 chapters, forced to face his past that caused his MPD, accept his personalities and finally had to fight Mal while experiencing his severe trauma caused by his unhinged twin brother, Malcolm. All of this while he was worried about Zoey leaving him after everything Mal did to her. At the end he managed to regaing control and accept Mal as an important part of who he is, finalizing his character arc.
    • Poor Zoey had to put up with a lot from Mal as her hope of seeing her boyfriend again began to vanish, she needed to become more independent and strong to survive his harassment, she had to become more open and accept her flaws to make worthy friendships and even show her inner Warrior, Zoey deserved and earned her happy ending.
    • Cameron had a short yet meaningful arc in which he finally confronted Lightning about how pointless revenge was while entering a relationship with Dawn.
    • Trent gets over his number 9 obsession, and has an interesting arc dealing with his grief and anger and following Eva's advice, in which he becomes violent and wild, to the point of scaring his own alliance members and getting voted off by them. After that he learns from his mistakes and repairs his former relationships.
    • Sierra, along with Scott and Courtney, had the longest character arc (if not longer than theirs), not only she was already maturing before All-Stars even started, but she also had a whole 32-chapter-long season of making awful mistakes and dealing with it's consequences. By the end of the season she was almost unrecognizable from her former self, she was still a big Total Drama fan and had a blog dedicated to it, but it was really toned down, she was still in love with Cody, but she didn't seem so stalkerish, she did awful things like treating Cameron like a possession, after having a sanity slippage and exploiting Scott's fear to win a challenge but she felt a lot of remorse and made her best to solve the situations, and she tried really hard to work with Scott and be able to save the universe from Noirwor. Her change from a borderline nominal hero to an anti-heroine is really worth mentioning.
    • Brick's development is also quite noticeable, he started as insecure and fearful, but was forced to overcome his biggest fears on order to protect his friends and loved ones, he became a team dad with most of the cast, being always there to help them with their problems, offering a shoulder to cry on (sometimes literally) and even scolding them when thing got out of control.
    • While Dawn was already quite mature when the season started, it didn't prevent her for making mistakes and having regrets, she apologized to Scott for not sympathizing with him back in season 4, when he was in the trauma chair, and had a small arc of her dealing with severe guilt and the destruction of the forest caused by her opposite.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Used during Noirwor's hallucination segments when every character is represented by one color and covered with it. Also in the finale, when both finalist have to grab a colored flag.
  • Comically Missing the Point
    • Sierra is very prone to this due her poor social skills, in fact most of the time she doesn't get why people gets scared when she says she knows their bank account number. Also this:
Sierra: "She told me to go to my happy place. My daddy was handing me over to Cody to tie the knot at our wedding, surrounded by our loved ones. The penguins from Madagascar placed Chris McLean in the cannon and when he blasted off, he exploded into pieces and turned into beautiful bloody fireworks. What? I like those penguins!"
    • Brick and Courtney's conversation in "Seek And Ye Shall Find"
      Brick: "Hold on… where's Sierra?"
      Courtney: "She's sleeping inside."
      Brick: "IN DEATH?"
Courtney: "No, she was sleeping long before the bed crashed into our roof."
Brick: "SHE WAS DEAD FOR HOURS?"
Courtney: "NO! Apparently, we've learned she's a heavy sleeper."
      Brick: "Oh, alright then."
  • Creepy Cave: Noirwor's cave/underground base is a recurrent creepy location, which becomes even worse once you who lives there and what it does.
  • Daddy's Girl:
    • Gwen used to be very close to her father and remembering his death is very painful for her.
    • Sierra even more so, to the point that she develops a crush on a guy that is similar to her deceased father.
  • Dance-Off: Mike has to battle Vito in his mind by beating him at DanceDanceRevolution.
  • Dark and Troubled Past:
    • Heather's backstory isn't revealed, but we know that at some point she had suicidal thoughs
    • Courtney's parents were harsh and strict, also she had mysterious a traumatic experience with a boy sneezing on her as a child.
    • When Scott was a child, he had neglectful and uncaring parents, her little sister Albertha left them and nobody knew where she was. Things changed after he was mauled by Fang, as his parents tried their best to keep him alive, but being finally loves by his parent wouldn't make the trauma less painful.
    • Gwen's caring father died in a mine when she was a kid, causing her fear of being buried alive and becoming a goth afterwards. Her mother tries her best to take care of her and her younger brother, but the pain doesn't go away.
    • Mike had several bad experiences that caused his MPD, like having his uncle's dead body fall onto him, a nasty fall while doing gymnastics, getting wasted in a party and being attacked in Australia, but the most traumatic moment in his life was when his unhinged and psychotic twin brother, Malcolm, maintained him as a prisoner in a junkyard for days, while he was hunting and living like a wild dog.
    • Sierra didn't have friends and lost her father, who she was extremely close to, when she was in elementary school, after that her relationship with her mother deteriorated to the point they can't stop arguing unless they empty-minded watched TV.
    • Brick's grandfather was a war veteran with PTSD who wanted his grandson to become a man, and caused his fear of the dark with his inappropriate methods to make him stronger and braver.
    • Dawn used to be bullied at school as a result of her abilities.
    • Like in canon, Alejandro has to live with Jose, a big brother bully who mistreated and humiliated him since they were kids. Also he developed PTSD after what happened to him in Hawaii.
    • Ezekiel also has PTSD related to his feral transformation.
  • Darker and Edgier: While it maintains the comedic and absurd aspect of the original show, at the same time the story takes it's time to explore the characters motivations and past experiences, not to mention a lot of things that in canon would be played for laughs, here are played for drama, like life threatening injuries, Mike's MPD, and the effects a show like Total Drama would have on the contestants.
  • Death as Comedy: Cameraman Alex's death is played by laughs, mostly by how Sierra reacts to it.
Sierra: "Why is that fly holding a video camera?"
Mutant Bear: "We ate the cameraman"
    Sierra: "Which cameraman?"
Mutant Bear: "Blonde guy with freckles on his face"
Sierra: "NO! Not Alex! He was the only cameraman who filmed us for five seasons! He was part of the Total Drama family! He was kind and supportive!"
Mutant Bear: "Oh, that was where I remembered the guy from. My bad."
Sierra: "YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!"
    • However it gets subverted when Gwen says this line:
Gwen: "Once again, Chris's fucking show had claimed yet another innocent person who had a hopeful life ahead of them."
  • Demoted to Extra: Some iconic characters left the island before it was expected from them, the reason for this was that they already had 3 seasons of character development, while others only had 1 and needed more screentime.
  • The Dreaded:
    • Mal takes pleasure in making everyone fear and obey him, in fact he sometimes even ignores strategy just to continue harassing the people he dislikes.
    • The Big Bad Noirwor takes it up to eleven, making the teens completely paranoid and psychotic, haunting and stalking them just for fun, enjoying like a child every scream and whimper it heard from the contestants, making them fight their biggest fears and past traumas, and specially whatever it did to Sierra on Boeny Island, something horrifying enough to leave her shell-shocked.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • In this fic's universe, Fang made his first appearance in World Tour when, as a normal shark, he tried to eat Cody in Hawaii, and got beaten up by Sierra. Seeking revenge was the reason he went to Wawanawka and became mutant in first place.
    • Jasmine makes a brief cameo in one of Mike's memories, when Pahkitew Island hasn't occurred yet in this fic.
    • Scott's missing younger sister, Albertha, became a goth, changed her name to Crimson, and would participate in the Ridonculous Race in the future.
  • Easily-Overheard Conversation: Several times in the fic characters are talking (most of the time about strategies) and other characters hear everything because they are either being spied, or talking too loud.
    Sierra: "Where's Scott?"
    Eva: "You know?"
Sierra: "Duh! I'm Total Drama's number one fan! I can recognise all the contestants' walking patterns. That, and you guys were pretty loud."
  • Eat That:
    • The entire challenge in "Food Fright" consisted in eating disgusting pancakes stuffed with random (and often disgusting) items, then doing an obstacle course without throwing up.
    • In "Sundae Muddy Sundae" the players need to finish their own sundaes, which aren't specially well prepared...
    • Chef's food hasn't got any better this season, in fact gruel looks even worse than what they ate in past seasons.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Scott was the Big Bad of the Revenge of the Island season and is an all-around devious guy but even he was disgusted by Sierra's Abhorrent Admirer and Stalker with a Crush tendencies towards Cody.
  • Face Your Fears:
    • Played Straight, literally, in "Suckers Punched", when they have to fight their own fears in a boxing match without many rules.
    • In order to get out of his mind, Mike needs to face the traumatic events that caused his multiple personalities.
    • In "Sundae Muddy Sundae", the five lasting players need to complete a challenge while facing their biggest fears and dark past experiences, just to be able to escape Noirwor's hallucinations.
    • The same happens in "The Final Wreck-ening" with the characters who try to get rid of Noirwor's immortality.
  • Fix Fic: The story fixes many of the problems All-Stars had. Those who went through flanderization have their personalities back.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • When Lightning and Sierra jump of the Cliff in "Heroes Vs Villains", Fang is waiting down there with his mouth open. little did she know that Fang was actually trying to kill her as a revenge of what she did to him in World Tour.
    • Dawn explains to Cameron that Mal's name is short for Malevolent, and for another name she's incapable to decipher yet. Chapters later a character named Malcolm appears.
    • Several characters suffer from hallucinations during their exiles in Boney Island, which at first glance can be assumed to be from their lack of sleep and hunger. When the real reason is revealed in the last arc, everything makes much more sense.
    • Courtney's eyes become green when she's fighting Gwen in "Suckers Punched" but no one except Harold notices it. If they only knew what was going to happen during the last chapter, things would have gone in a very different way.
    • In "Pain Has Three Faces" Sierra gets teamed with Beth, the only winner who doesn't participate in All-Stars, then the purple haired girl became the the winner of the season herself.
  • Good Is Boring: The reason why Chris decided to sawp some members of each team was because the Vultures' fights and inappropriate behavior bringed much more viewers than the Hamsters friendship and teamwork.
  • Graceful Loser: Despite being dumped by Gwen and eliminated soon after, Duncan takes pride in being the only contestant to reach the merge four times on the show.
  • Gross-Out Show: Not as much as canon All-Stars, but still has a lot of jokes about characters barfing, or worse.
  • Harmless Electrocution:
    • Mostly played straight as characters get constantly electrocuted this season and, even they seem to be in pain, none of them has any lasting damage.
    • However, this is completely averted with Sierra's father, who died being electrocuted by a robot he was working on.
  • Hated by All: Most members of the Villainous Vultures aren't specially loved by the Heroic Hamsters or even their own team members.
    • Heather is hated by everyone on her team and is almost the first one voted off it because of that. However, She's seen as a valuable alliance member, or at least until Alejandro backstabs her and is forced to take the Flush of Shame as the fourth eliminated.
    • Jo is pretty much a similar case to Heather, as she was also hated by everyone except Brick, but managed to stay longer due her alliances and her luck in "Pinball-Stein."
    • Scott became the most loathed contestant when he punched Sierra in the face and made her cry for almost a whole challenge. As a result, he's forced to spend the night outside the Spa Hotel and only have an apple as food by his team. After that his hate doesn't affect that much of the plot, until it bites him in the ass when he's a finalist and all 3 of his helpers refuse to help him win. Surprisingly enough, he gets paid 100.000 dollars, by Sierra of all people, as she couldn't have defeated Noirwor without his help.
    • During the first chapters no one respects or even tries to befriend Courtney, as she has a pretty bad reputation after the events of Action and specially World Tour, to the point she almost gets voted off in "Moon Madness" and has to change teams. Luckily for her, she manages to make friends and restore her reputation later in the story.
    • As soon as Alejandro enters the game the Villainous Vultures instantly plan to vote him off, so it's quite clear that he's no longer the popular Latin Lover he was back in World Tour. He managed to avoid his team's votes, but left the island in a one of the most horrifying and cruel ways.
    • An Heroic example would be Mal, who becomes even more hated than Scott when all the atrocities he committed are finally exposed by Sierra. After that he becomes much more direct, agressive, cruel and of course as a result, more hated.
    • Surprisingly enough, this time around Sierra isn't hated by most people, as her stalkerish nature was toned down, she has big problems with the mutants though, who literally tried to kill her for being the one who caused the mayor's house burning.
  • I Want My Mommy!:
    • Played for laughs whenever a character gets hurt and cries for its mother in pain.
    • Payed for drama in "The Bold and the Booty-Ful" when Sierra, traumatized after what happened on Boney Island and during the last challenge has a breakdown and ends up crying on the floor.
Sierra: " "We could spend years studying Noirwor and we'd only scratch the surface! We're not heroes, Courtney. We're just a bunch of reality show teenagers who wanted fame and money. All I want is to go home to be with my Mommy!"
  • Jabba Table Manners: The villainous vultures play this straight in their first night at the Spa Hotel, when they throw themselves to the delicious food like it was their last opportunity to eat.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While Blaineley did kidnap Chris in order to mutate him as revenge for abandoning her and Bruno after the season 3, she isn't wrong on how the cast has suffered greatly under his sadistic treatment and how the only thing keeping them from leaving the show was the million dollar prize. The imprisoned cast are eventually persuaded to allow Blaineley to have her way with Chris as revenge for everything they had to endure.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: As one final act of karma to Chris, Sierra hits him with a briefcase full of bricks and does the final sign off.
  • Like Parent, Like Spouse: The reason why Sierra developed such strong feelings for Cody is because he reminds her of her dead father, who she was really close to, and projects their relationship on him (and later on Cameron). Not to mention the fact that Brick sometimes seems to act like an older brother or a father with her, and how she also mentions to have mommy issues.
  • LOL, 69: While Cameron explains that the air is 69% cleaner than in the past season, Mike and Brick laugh at the number.
  • Mercy Kill: Trent gets eliminated by his two remaining friends, as a way to protect him from Mal and from himself.
Sierra: "I get it. Trent's desire to get his revenge on Mal is over the top negative. It could corrupt him to the point of no return. In episode ten, Brick pulled me out of the pit before I got consumed by darkness. So for the sake of his fans, and his dignity, Trent needs to leave".
Brick: "Just so we're clear, I never wanted to vote for you. But you've tied my hands. Seeing you bite Mal's ankle and threatening to harm him more has made me concerned for you. Alejandro and Malcolm's fate would be nothing compared to yours if he gets his hands on you! I'm doing it for your well-being. I'm Sorry."
  • Named by the Adaptation: Several character's surnames are revealed, which double as Actor Allusion as they share it.
  • Nasal Trauma:
    • Mal gets his nose broken by Duncan in "Total Quizzical Action" after the former throws the delinquent under the bus and made him lose his friends and his girlfriend.
    • Courtney's nose gets broken in "Suckers Punched", when she fights Gwen and it turns way more violent than what anyone could expect.
  • Nausea Dissonance:
    • Everyone is disgusted when they finally see the flush of shame. Except Sierra, she just takes a photo of it.
    • Scott doesn't mind climbing a snot cliff, while the other are extremely disgusted.
  • Near-Death Experience:
    • As usual the challenges get more dangerous and crazy every season, All-Stars was not going to be an exception. It gets as dangerous to the point Chris is forced to change the final challenge, which he doesn't.
    • Scott, Ezekiel and Alejandro developed PTSD after their near-death experiences in Revenge of the Island and World Tour respectively.
    • Gwen almost died when crushed by rocks, but she manages to survive and has to abandon the competition in 8th place.
    • The longer lasting characters have to deal with Noirwor who tortured them in different twisted ways.
    • During the final challenge Scott and Sierra almost drown, after violently falling into the water. Sierra even passes out and needs to be saved by Lightning, when the iconic cliff gets destroyed and almost crushes her.
    • After killing Noirwor the finalist almost died as they couldn't escape the sinking Moat of Doom, covered in lava and toxic waste. However they got saved by the Twitter Army.
  • The Nose Knows:
    • One of Ezekiel's feral abilities is his super smell, which he uses to find the pieces and help his team win in "Evil Dread".
    • To a lesser extent, as her senses aren't nearly as powerful, Sierra is also able to track down objects, people and teletransportation with her sense of smell.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • Delinquent jerk with the heart of gold, Duncan with nice but insecure indie chick, Zoey.
    • Mature and good-hearted Aura Whisperer, Dawn with sugar-adicted and emotional hyper fangirl, Sierra.
  • Oh, Crap!: When the teens notice Eva's MP3 was being burned.
  • Pelvic Thrust: Vito's way of dancing, along with twerking.
  • Potty Emergency: After the big drama that was the trivia challenge, almost everyone is angry at each other and leaves the campsite in different directions, except for Sierra, who stays alone for a few seconds, until she has an urgent need to relieve herself, and runs as fast as she can to find a bathroom.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Scott angrily gives this to Sierra in "Food Fright."
Scott: "A member of the Heroic Hamsters?. I've never understood why you're on the heroes anyway! You stalked Cody for a whole season with a creepy fetish for everything he has! You blew up a plane! You stalked on everything everyone's owned! You stalked Cameron and ruined me… you should be a villain!"
  • Running Gag:
    • Courtney mentioning she's a CIT almost once per chapter, and getting called names like Crazy in Training or Crazy CIT.
    • Gwen trying very hard to make amends with Courtney in early chapters, and failing miserably.
    • Sierra creeping out and annoying everyone with her obscure knowledge about the other players and overly insistent nature. And then missing the point of akward moments or lines due her lack of social skills.
    • Brick wetting his pants after being scared or screaming like a little girl.
    • Jo's killer zingers.
Chris: "Question twenty one – in order, which contestant was exiled to Boney Island?"
Jo: "Biceps Lover, Music Nine, Shark Bait, Bubble Boy, Volcanic Gorilla, Multiple Weirdo and your truly!"
Chris: "I need actual names, Jo."
Jo: "Lightning, Trent, Scott, Cameron, Eva, Mike and me!"
    • Dawn being creepy with her aura reading powers and scaring character by teleporting behind them.
    • Lightning's muscle fetish and Sha-words!
    • Lindsay being a cute ditz and forgetting names.
    • Grubs being a stalkerish pervert and annoying all the girls, specially Courtney.
    • Fang trying his best to control his anger and hate towards Scott and Sierra, and telling to himself that he only has to wait untill the finale.
    • Larry's disturbing baby, who literally even horrifies the mutants.
    • Trent and Noah's being anoyed by Bieber in "Pain Has Three Faces", also Eva and Anne Maria's interactions in said episode.
  • Sadist Show: The show within a show, Total Drama is basically this: a bunch of fame hungry teenagers putting themselves in insanely painful and humiliating situations, with the hope of getting paid a million dollars if they are the last standing, all this while having to deal with a childish and sociopath host who prepares cruel challenges for his own enjoyment and gets worse and worse overtime.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Brick does it sometimes
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After everything they had to put with during the season, especially the the traumatic experiences caused by Noirwor's magic and hallucinations, the final four decide to quit the competition and return home to die with their families. However, they decide to continue the game when they're informed about the other contestants discovering Noirwor's weakness and when Chris raises the price to 5 million dollars.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Sierra, as in canon, ships contestants and documents them in her Total Drama blogs.
    • Upon finding out Dawn likes Cameron, all the female heroes encourage her to explore her feelings. Likewise, Mike supports Cam and occasionally teases him about it.
    • Eva, of all people, supports Brick and Jo.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: Comic relief characters like Owen and Lindsay are eliminated pretty early on in the competition, so the story could focus on it's more dark and dramatic aspects.
  • Signature Scent: Aparently teletransportation smells like pine cone
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Sierra being Codysexual like in canon. Tough when her backstory and reasons for her obsession are revealed, the relationship becomes something quite different.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: This fic contains a lot of swearing to the point that it's casual for people to speak this way.
  • Team Member in the Adaptation: This time, Courtney is on the Villainous Vultures from the start, allowing all three members of the love triangle to be on the same team, which never happened in canon.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork:
    • Basically the Villainous Vultures in "Evil Dread"
    • What happens when you force two opposite and stubborn teenagers, who have been in conflict for almost the whole season, to join forces and save the universe.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Gwen saying that Duncan and her would be on different teams, unless Chris consideres him a hero and laughing at the last thought. Both end up in the villains team.
    • Dawn explaining to Sierra that they need to stay calm in order to avoid the mutants warth. Then Sierra acts like a hammy goofball and puts herself in danger.
    • Scott tries to impress Courtney by saying that the obstacle course is a piece of cake. Then everyone is forced to do it with a heavy backpack on their backs.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone:
    • Ezekiel not longer being feral and, for once not being the first one out of the game.
    • They aren't allowed to cheat in the elimination ceremonies, so no unfair eliminations, unless someone gets medivacked.
    • This time around characters who get severely injured are forced to leave the competition for their safety, and are spared to use the flush of shame.
    • In "Sundae Muddy Sundae" Chris allows the players to eat their own sundaes, to compensate everything they had gone through. It gets subverted when the sundaes happen to be disgusting given the way they had prepared them, but the teenagers seemed quite happy to eat them.
    • After what happened in said episode, Boney Island is closed to protect the remaining players.
  • Toilet Humour: The method of elimination is literally a gigantic toilet, so it was quite obvious than the trope would be used. Fart jokes are used far less than in the original show, as Owen gets eliminated pretty early on and Sam doesn't compete, but jokes about character barfing, getting splashed with the flush of shame or similar disgusting things are used.
  • Token Good Teammate: Brick and Zoey to the Villainous Vultures after switching teams.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Used for both, comedic and dramatic purposes.
  • Ungrateful Bastard:
    • Sierra tries to protect Scott from Fang before the shark's intentions are revealed, sincerely feel remorseful and apologizes him for exploiting his phobia to win a challenge, warns him and the others about Noirwor's plan, saves his life twice during the sundae challenge, is the responsible for both of them escaping Fang and Douglas, brings him to the finale, instead of Courtney, tries her best to bond and make amends with him and helps him and saves his through the final challenge. How does Scott respond to all this? Simply by being extremely resentful towards her, for "ruining his life": he refuses to apologize for abusing her, and insist that she should be the one apologizing instead for bringing Fang to Wawanakwa, constantly calls her Uber-bitch, says that she should be better off dead and plans trading her life to save himself, insults her relationship with Cody by calling him "Sierra's Boy Toy", denies her apologies, acuses her of teaming with Noirwor or being it herself, is perfectly fine with her becoming shell-shocked after her traumatic experience in Boney Island, shoots leeches at her for no reason and constantly refuses to bond and team up with her, or even listening to anything she has to say. However, at the end Scott saves Sierra's life and both work together to defeat Noirwor and save the universe, and finally apologizes for treating her badly (even though it was a fake apology, and only did it to get 100.000 dollars from her. Also he appears to be grateful towards Cameron and Dawn.
    • Eva in "You Regatta Be Kidding Me", as she decides to vote off Zoey for trying to be friendly and inviting her to a sleepover. And due the brute having Chef's idol, the former redhead ends up in the flush of shame in one of the most unfair eliminations of the fic. Also in the same episode when Sierra fixes Eva's boat motor, in order to get in an alliance with her, she pushes the fangirl off the boat, continues racing and doesn't even thank her.
    • Jo constantly acts like this towards Brick, in fact she tries to get him out of the game in "Total Quizzical Action" even though they had feelings for each other.
    • When standing up to Lightning, Cameron mentioned that he gave the Revenge of the Island cast a share of his money, including Lightning, yet the latter wants to get revenge on him.
    • In "Evil Dread" Heather attempted throwing Ezekiel under the bus, even though he made the best challenge performance of his team, just to save her ass.
    • Chris' career gets literally saved by the contestants, but then he just acts like always does and continues to torture them with dangerous challenges
    • Fang still wanting to eat Scott, even if he helped him give birth to Makuta
  • Victory Pose: Scott does one after he thinks he's finally free from Fang's revenge plot.
  • Vomit Chain Reaction:
    • In "Food Fright" Ezekiel provokes one when eats the pancakes with Trent's barf on it, Cameron, Alejandro, Gwen, Trent and Chris vomit after watching that.
    • Several characters start puking in the confesional when they saw Larry's disturbing baby.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Just like in canon, this is used pretty often. Special mention to "Food Fright" as the episode with more barfing in the entire fic.
  • Was It All a Lie?: Scott and Courtney's relationship was just a manipulation tactic on her part, when she thought he was going to be eliminated she decided to tell the truth, even if it was going to be painful and awkward. He didn't react specially well, and with good reason.
  • Wham Episode:
    • In "Food Fright," Fang reveals that he can talk because of the radiation, Scott punches Sierra, and the two become enemies with Sierra determined to win the season after motivation from Dawn.
    • In "Total Quizzical Action" Mal's actions are exposed, not to mention the tensions and dramas caused by the challenge.
    • In "The Obsta-kill Kourse" Noirwor starts to appear as a threat and the last story arc starts.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Sierra, being an anti-heroine, commits some villainous acts during the season, which she later regrets and tries to compensate for everything she did wrong.
    • Trent has several moments like this near his elimination specially when he acts as violent as Mal would. Later when he's finally calm, he feels ashamed of his behavior and forgives Brick for eliminating him.
    • Brick thinks he has done this after voting Trent off for his safety, and convincing Sierra to do the same. In that case Brick was doing the right thing, but it felt otherwise for him.
  • Would Hit a Girl:
    • Three words. Scott punching Sierra.
    • Also Mal, who goes to much more dangerous territories while beating up females, strangling them and even attempting murder once.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl:
    • Brick gets uncharacteristically angry when he discovers that Scott punched Sierra and made her cry.
Brick: "You punched a woman to a face! Men should never hit women! You broke the gentlemen code!"
    • Duncan and Ezekiel also are disgusted by Scott's behavior.
