The consequences of this story are explored in its sequel: Only the Results.

Helluva Job contains examples of:

  • Acceptable Breaks from Canon: Since this fic was written before episode 3, Loona doesn't have a Human Disguise.
  • Achievements in Ignorance:
    • Joseph Joestar is the first person to figure out that Thriller's mirror world is an actual world, rather than just a reflection of the room they're in; meaning he can open a door and leave the room to run away. Thriller justifies how even he was ignorant of this by pointing out no one has tried to simply run away when trapped and he only uses his powers for business, so he never bothered to check.
    • Blitzo's bumbling winds up saving La Squadra from their losing battles against the Stardust Crusaders, as he's able to threaten a member of the Vault's staff into sending them back while looking for a set of pom-poms and a miniskirt.
  • Accidental Hero: Blitzo accidentally saves Loona from being brutalized by St. Anger.
  • Adaptation Expansion: In canon, Sorbet and Gelato were killed under Diavolo's orders before much could be learned about either of them. Their relationship as lovers was only heavily implied, and their Stands, if they even had any, were also unmentioned. Here, both of them are shown to be in a fully committed relationship with each other, and their Stands are completely original in design.
  • A Father to His Men: Like his canon counterpart, St. Anger (Risotto) is very protective of his team mates, and while he trusts and believes in them and their skills, harming them is an excellent way of getting on his bad side, see Tranquil Fury below.
  • Affably Evil: Good Vibration (Pesci) is openly touched by Moxxie and Millie's love, wishes he had something similar, and promises on his life to do everything he can to ensure their survival.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Thriller calls Blitzo 'Blitzo-Krieg' after he proves himself in battle.
  • Animal Motifs: Playback doesn't visually resemble a parasitic wasp much besides having ovipositors, but his behavior and powers mimic one. He implants larvae into victims, who are killed by the larvae growing until they burst out and consume them. The juniors even resemble insects, looking like maggots when born and pupating into wasp-men. Before hand, he shows a disturbingly sociopathic view of Moxxie and Millie, wanting to implant them for their superior personalities, like an insect caring only for its brood.
  • Background Music Override: Blitzo gets invited to a battle and, theatrical as ever, pulls out a boombox and plays "I'm Your Boogie Man" by KC and the Sunshine Band. The more easy-going members of La Squadra join in on the fun.
  • Beast Man: Loona, obviously. Among La Squadra, there's Willin', a mouse, Good Vibrations, an anglerfish, Thriller, a raven, and Blackbird, a white cat (since Blackbird is, well... Ghiaccio, he isn't exactly happy about this).
  • Bloody Hilarious: while the overall tone of the fic is comedic, the action scenes and violence is gruesome and horrific.
  • Body Horror:
    • St. Anger threatens to make razor blades come out of every orifice of Loona's body if she doesn't let him talk to Blitzo.
    • The process Playlist uses to create Juniors is even grosser than in canon.
  • Bullying a Dragon:
    • Defied. St. Anger explains to his gang that they didn't kill Blitzo for the grimoire because Prince Stolas lets Blitzo have the book. So stealing it from Blitzo is the same as stealing it from a prince of hell.
    • Playlist almost makes this mistake when Good Vibrations steps in to prevent Moxxie and Millie from getting implanted with larvae. He wisely backs off when he sees that (the very dangerous) Good Vibrations isn't playing around.
  • Came Back Strong: Like in A Peaceful Afterlife, Stand Users-cum-demons can develop their powers further thanks to their immortal demonic bodies. This makes the already formidable La Squadra, skilled Stand Users in their own right, even more powerful.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Blitzo correctly states that St. Anger can't kill I.M.P. for the grimoire, so they have to pay to use their portals. Downplayed later, St. Anger reveals that the reason is not Blitzo is irreplaceable, but he holds Stolas's favor. Stealing the book from Blitzo is stealing from a Prince of Hell.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Willin repeatedly flirts with Loona and is rejected each time.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The Vault is set up with several anti-demon measures, like pure iron doors and a sprinkler system connected to a reservoir full of Holy water. They also have members of various religions bless the place to protect against the various types of demons.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass:
    • Like his canon counterpart, Good Vibrations (Pesci) is a passive man who just so happens to be incredibly dangerous when he gets serious. The fact that he, like all demons, has a more powerful, monstrous form only adds to his already formidable abilities.
    • Blitzo may be a buffoon, but he's an excellent shot and positively giddy at the the prospect of killing.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • The guards of the Vault are slaughtered en masse by La Squadra and I.M.P. Justified somewhat in that they're powerful demons with bizarre powers and the element of surprise.
    • Predictably, Blitzo's foolish decision to attack Jotaro Kujo ends in this.
    • The Juniors, who had been walking all over the guards, are dispatched with little effort by the Crusaders.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: The members of La Squadra have only become more dangerous after arriving in Hell and improving the abilities of their Stands. Even still, once they find themselves facing off against the Stardust Crusaders they quickly find themselves on the back foot for most of their fights. While the members of La Squadra do manage to pull off some seriously impressive displays during their battles, once the Crusaders start getting serious each of them has their Squadra opponent dead to rights, and they would have certainly killed them had Blitzo not saved them at the last minute.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Millie's reaction to the Juniors. She even names them.
  • Daddy Issues: Loona admits to having these when talking to Truly.
  • Deader than Dead: Subverted. Thriller literally melts into a puddle from Joseph's hamon, but it turns out it only has the ability to disrupt his physical form. He ends up right back in hell in time to meet with everyone else.
  • Deadpan Snarker:
    • Loona, of course, has little in the way of tact or respect.
    • The less serious members of La Squadra have their moments as well.
  • Declaration of Protection: Good Vibrations is so moved by Moxxie and Millie's love that he vows on his life and honor as a member of La Squadra to protect them and ensure their survival.
  • The Dreaded:
    • La Squandra are among the most feared assassins in all of Hell. Moxxie is understandably afraid of St. Anger.
    • The Stardust Crusaders are renowned in Hell, Jotaro especially. Even St. Anger is intimidated by him.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Blitzo doesn't even flinch at St. Anger's death threat, citing that the fact I.M.P. is still alive means St. Anger never considered killing them and stealing the grimoire an option at any point. St. Anger notes that Blitzo isn't as stupid as he lets on.
  • Every Man Has His Price: Blitzo tries to bring up professional integrity while denying St. Anger's use of the grimoire to get to Earth, but is shut up when Anger shows him a check worth a lot of money.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Moxxie is openly horrified by the process of creating Playlist's juniors. His wording implies it is both a disgusting visual and painful enough for Moxxie to feel bad for the guards and puke in disgust.
  • Extreme Mêlée Revenge: Blitzo is handed a particularly spectacular one at the fists of an enraged Jotaro Kujo.
  • Fantastic Naming Convention: Apparently, names in Hell are picked out of a hat, much to Blackbird's (Ghiaccio) chagrin. Meta-wise, characters are named after songs and albums related to their Stand names on earth.
    • Risotto Nero is now St. Anger, a song by Metallica (because "Death Magnetic" was too on-the-nose)
    • Formaggio is now Willin', a song by Little Feat.
    • Ghiaccio is now Blackbird (despite his demonic form being a white cat-like being), which is, of course, a song from The Beatles' White Album.
    • Pesci is now Good Vibrations, which is not only a song by The Beach Boys, but is also appropriate for how his powers work (sensing the presence of others via vibrations).
    • Prosciutto is now Aoxomoxoa, for the Grateful Dead album.
    • Illuso is now Thriller, an album by Michael Jackson.
    • Melone is now Playlist, an album by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.
    • Gelato and Sorbet are now Truly and Deeply, named after the song "Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden. Their fused form shares its full name with the aforementioned song.
    • Funny Valentine is now Danger, a song by AC/DC.
  • Fearless Fool:
    • Low intelligence is the main reason Blitzo bothers La Squadra so much. He does have moments of insight though, such as fearlessly calling St. Angers bluff by pointing out I.M.P. would already be dead if St. Anger thought killing them was an option, and claims (correctly) that he has the upper hand in negotiations.
    • Loona has shades of this, just replace stupidity for apathy.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Millie and Thriller both mentioned they forget about how demons can transform to increase their power.
  • Genius Bruiser: Jotaro, natch. In general, he's pretty sharp and tactical, but he not only figures out Aoxomoxoa's (Prosciutto) aging power based on observation, but also deduces and executes a counter to it, all while rapidly aging to death.
    • Joseph Joestar is in peak form when facing off against La Squadra, both figuratively and literally. While his stand has little combat potential, he's still a former World's Best Warrior and a tactical genius, allowing him to outfight and out think demons.
  • Gun Nut: Millie admitted to being turned on when Moxxie was a gun.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Willin's ability to shrink people and objects allows him to carry around a veritable arsenal in a cigarette case. His unleashed form physically only gives him claws on each finger, but his ability to shrink himself can now instantly shrink him to the size of an atom and back, allowing for what is essentially Intangibility.
  • Hero Antagonist: The vault guards and the Stardust Crusaders.
  • Lecherous Licking:
    • Playlist does this to Loona when considering making her a mother for one of his Juniors, before being disgusted by the fact she has Syphilis.
    • Playlist later does this to Millie and is punched by Gabriel.
  • Logical Weakness:
    • Aoxomoxoa's gas can cause people to age into dust, but it must be breathed in, so guards with gas masks are immune to his powers. While he can get around this by breaking down the components of the masks, it would take too much time to be practical in a gunfight. Also, as it relies on higher temperatures to work, being in a very cold room nullifies Aoxomoxoa's gas to the point he needs to rely on a gun.
    • Demons, being otherworldly creatures sustained by demonic energy, are vulnerable to having their physical forms disrupted by Hamon.
  • Loony Fan: Blitzo is enamored by La Squadra. The only thing saving his life is that Stolas's favor makes an attack on Blitzo an attack on Stolas. Blitzo admitted he would literally burn I.M.P to the ground for the chance to join la Squandra.
  • Made of Iron: All the hellions are this to come extent, being able to survive injuries that would kill a human, but Willin' is explicitly shown to be exceptionally tough, as he withstands a hand grenade exploding point-blank with little to show for it besides some singeing.
  • Magnetism Manipulation: St. Anger's power to manipulate metal has grown more powerful since coming to Hell.
  • Monster Clown: Loona has referred to St. Anger as Pennywise's and Ronald McDonald's goth baby.
  • Mook Horror Show:
    • The scenes of the attack from the guard's POV reads more like horror than action/comedy.
    • The Juniors fights against the Stardust Crusaders are similarly brief, violent, and horrific.
  • Mythology Gag: When Playlist licks Loona's hand, he starts harshly spitting as he learns she has Syphilis.
  • Noble Demon:
    • St. Anger, literally. Like in-canon, he's reluctant to involve bystanders, deeply concerned over the wellbeing of his team, and is intensely dedicated to fulfilling his obligations. At the end of the story, despite spending much of the adventure tolerating/outright despising Blitzo, once it becomes clear that the imp is responsible for their success, he not only gives Blitzo the agreed-upon payment, but directly addresses Blitzo as their savior and brother. Blitzo openly weeps upon hearing this from his hero.
    • Danger is genuinely grateful to Blitzo for rescuing him from the Vault, and unlike everyone else, is polite and cordial to the imp, telling Blitzo he'd indebted to him and vows to repay him.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Blitzo points out that Blackbird is a white cat demon, while his raven like companion is dubbed Thriller. Blackbird agrees.
  • Not So Above It All:
    • Willin' and Thriller clearly appreciate and enjoy Blitzo's theatricality.
    • Moxxie, despite his disgust, thinks the baby-Juniors are cute, and gets along well with his "sons".
    • St. Anger cracks a smile when Blitzo is savagely pummeled by Jotaro Kujo's Star Platinum.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jotaro Kujo's arrival outright terrifies the members of La Squada.
  • Only Sane Man: Moxxie constantly declares how weird the whole situation is, but can get into it at times, such as agreeing that Playback's juniors can be cute.
  • Original Flavor: Like its predecessor, the author manages to maintain the comedic tone of Helluva Boss while pulling off several excellent Stand battles very much fitting the tone of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
  • Pest Controller: Blitzo tames some Lice into attack animals, and they drain a guard of blood.
  • Physical God:
  • Powered by a Forsaken Child: The dimension hopping tech of the vault is powered by Danger, aka Funny Valentine, being hooked into a machine. What really makes it count is that the process of powering said technology involves pouring the dust of the demons killed trying to breach the vault, including his slain allies, onto the Saint's Corpse and forcing the energy into Danger, which is extremely painful for him.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: St. Anger has naturally red eyes and is a very dangerous and deadly assassin.
  • Running Gag: Blackbird's (Ghiaccio) issues with language come up.
  • Sex for Services St. Anger theorizes that Blitzo showed Stolas an amazing time to get the grimoire from him.
  • Sex God: Implied and Discussed. St. Anger theorizes Blitzo showed Stolas an amazing time in bed if Stolas let Blitzo get away with the Grimoire.
  • Shout-Out: When St. Anger questions how Thriller is alive after being destroyed by Hamon, Thriller asks if he was supposed to go to Detroit.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Blitzo seems to be under the impression that I.M.P. is a match for La Squandra. While they are more dangerous than their bickering would imply, La Squandra is more dangerous by a large margin.
  • Stealth Pun: Truly Madly Deeply is a hellhound made of vines. Making him, indeed, a Savage Garden.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Upon seeing the check St. Anger wrote them, Blitzo and Millie broke out into song. Later when Moxxie and Loona finally see the check at the end, they join in.
  • Squishy Wizard: Playlist can create very powerful minions, but he is terrified at the idea of having to fight Good Vibrations himself.
  • "Super Sentai" Stance: Blitzo, Willin' and Thriller strike one after successfully clearing out a room full of armed guards. Backdropped by explosions, no less.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: In-Universe, St. Anger lets Blitzo try to take on Jotaro Kujo because he hates Blitzo and his antics. He clearly finds the aftermath cathartic.
  • To the Pain: Danger, upon learning of his army's fate, teleports a scientist's skin right off his body. If that wasn't enough, he then teleports said scientist into the Dead Sea for good measure.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Like canon, Iggy is easily bribed with coffee-flavored gum.
  • Tranquil Fury:
    • When Playlist attempts to implant Moxxie and Millie with his larvae, Good Vibrations breaks in with a very flat, very cold mien, simple telling him "No."
    • St. Anger asks Joseph Joestar if he killed Thriller. When Joseph confirms this, crassly, St. Anger merely says "I see..." and then unleashes his true form and attempts to kill all the Crusaders. Bear in mind, he didn't even use this power against Jotaro.
    • Danger enacts a particularly brutal punishment upon a nearby human for no reason other than him being there. Danger is noted as having a cold, hateful satisfaction from the act.
  • Troll:
    • Joseph Joestar, naturally, takes great pains to annoy and infuriate his opponents, either to amuse himself or get them angry enough to make a mistake. Or both.
    • Muhammad Avdol takes no small pleasure from messing with Blackbird, constantly lording the nonsensical nature of his fire powers over the volatile ice-demon.
  • Undisclosed Funds: St. Anger writes a check for an unknown amount that stuns Blitzo and Millie and later Moxxie and Loona. Considering he negotiated a reward of 45 billion from his own employer, it could have been in the hundreds of millions.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Truly and Deeply are genuinely in love with one another, to the point that Truly does not hesitate to enter the fray to save his lover.
  • Villains Out Shopping: While waiting for I.M.P and La Squandra to finish their job, Truly somehow talks Loona into letting him do her nails.
  • Wham Line: When Blitzo accidently releases a rabbit-eared demon in the facilities responsible for the dimensional travel technology, he asks what he's called.
Demon: Danger note
