Helga made the ultimate sacrifice for her crush Arnold, giving away the gift she wanted to help him help one of the boarders. Helga expects another boring Christmas with her family, but will she get a miracle of her own?
Helga's Christimas contains the following examples:
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Mr. Bailey in Hey Arnold! is a stern man who only goes above and beyond for others when bribed. In this fic, he decides to give the boots back to Helga, thinking she deserves better for wanting to help Arnold.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
- Mr. Bailey is a mostly cold and self-centered man, but in this story, he realizes Helga deserves to have the boots more.
- Big Bob is a gruff and neglectful man, but when he learns Helga gave up her present to help Arnold, he immediately congratulates her. He also gets aggressive with Mr. Bailey when he thinks the man stole the boots from Helga.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Olga calls out for Helga, she is taken aback when she finds her sister genuinely sullen and tired instead of her normally grouchy self.
- So Proud of You: Miriam, Big Bob, and Olga all congratulate Helga for her selfless deed, with Miriam assuring Helga the best present she could ever get from Helga is her being a wonderful person.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Helga not only gets congratulations from her family for doing the right thing, but Big Bob lets her pick what movie to see and where they'll go out to eat for a change.
- Womanchild: Olga's choice for a movie on a family outing is a juvenile film about elves, much to Big Bob's annoyance.
