Continuity Nod / Fan Works

Go To

The following have their own pages:

Crossovers
  • Child of the Storm is a Massive Multiplayer Crossover, so nods to Marvel continuity (both the MCU and comics), DC comics, Harry Potter, Merlin (2008), and Dresden Files are very common. They also double as Foreshadowing in that they hint at a wider universe. One example in chapter 77 has Loki dazedly remark that he's glad that the Hulk's Metronomic Man Mashing trick is being directed at someone else for once (which doubled as Hilarious in Hindsight once Thor: Ragnarok came out). There are also Mythology Gags and Shout Outs aplenty, and given the nature of the universe, it's sometimes hard to tell which is which.
  • Code Prime: The fanfic is a crossover with the Transformers Aligned Continuity, and it certainly lives up to it:
    • The opening is clearly based on the final (and by extension, first) mission of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
    • Fixit is a member of the Ark Crew.
    • Megatron has already been fused with Dark Energon in this timeline, which was the case in Fall of Cybertron, as opposed to only just having discovered it at the start of Transformers Prime. The first chapter also directly has him reference being crushed by Metroplex.
    • In addition to Laserbeak, Soundwave also has Rumble and Frenzy, who were in War for Cybertron, and Ravage, from Transformers: Exodus. These are notably the only members of his mini-cassettes that Soundwave has in the Aligned Universe, with others, like Ratbat and Buzzsaw, being unheard of.
    • In R2, Thundercracker thinks about Starscream's failed stint as Decepticon leader back on Cybertron, from Fall of Cybertron.
    • Code Geass has several nods as well. From the R2 chapter The Fires of Rage, Lelouch recalls Marrybell being among those who were present to see off Lelouch and Nunnally when they were exiled to Japan, a moment from the recap movies.
  • The KanColle / Halo crossover For Earth And Her Colonies has several continuity nods on both sides of the crossover:
    • On the Kantai Collection side, Nagato references the Kantai Collection Anime in terms of the attack on Midway Island (here justified as a diversion for the Americans to retake the Hawaiian Islands) and the sinking of Kisaragi. She also notes that those series of offensives have left Japan’s shipgirls exhausted and in need of rest, which is one of the reasons why she is initially suspicious of Harvest’s arrival.
    • On the Halo side, Halo Wars is referenced frequently, including the history of Harvest’s captain (evacuated off of Arcadia, the fourth mission of that game’s campaign), and that the father of Harvest’s executive officer was a crew member aboard the Spirit of Fire.
    • UNSC Repensum Est Canicula collected “recruits” for both the Spartan II and III programs.
  • The Institute Saga: In a game of chess against Xavier, Superman is playing black and moves his knight.
  • It's Always Spooky Month: In chapter 2, Skid and Pump talk about riding in a white van, "dying", and delivering a package of sugar, referencing the events of "Unwanted Guest".
  • Khaos Omega invokes a lot of this.
    • References specifically regarding Anise and her many multiversal adventures:
      • Numerous comments about a trap she was tricked into in 2811. The trap was orchestrated by Fontina Evans and Michaela Martin, stated as the last two of GD Antheum's seven surviving natives she wanted to see, with Fontina even enlisting Mycella to help her and a bound Burrini Myers (Anise has no problems with Burrini) replicate a triple-anal the trio had given Anise (unwillingly in Burrini's case).
      • Anise's XF Series model of Power Suit, which she acquired before the 2012 ZK3 op to Aether. A returning Cloud Strife (who Anise first met in her first World of Light op) not only recognized it was Anise because of both the Suit itself and her use of an Angel Missile, but specifically made sure his own XF Series model had a different elemental affinity noting Anise had Ice covered.
      • Multiple decisions made during the Midgar op (one of them presumably the above elemental affinity choice by Cloud) are attributed to having partially scrambled Meme Storm plans Anise had for Lucina when she forcibly blew the blunette's cover during the assassination attempt (which Anise had brought along a platoon of Amethysts to deal with). Her plan with Lucina was to reveal Robin as Lucina's mother so as to keep Robin out of the Amethysts entirely citing multiple shenanigans from Amethyst agent Robin Karasuma she ran into on prior missions, and the Rule 34 image she went for was inspired by Istara Drake (another GD Antheum survivor) subjecting her to the torture depicted in said image. Her spell ended up working as intended, but Robin still made it in as a pseudo because the list of Midgar decisions gave Lissa a true Amethyst energy. The affinity choice of Cloud's is believed to be one of the decisions in question because he chose the electric-based Wave affinity, and Lissa's Amethyst energy ended up resulting in her canon kid Owain being replaced by Cloud's rose-pink-haired female Expy Claire "Lightning" Farron - which is why the convenient naming chain in play here involves Fire Emblem Fates due to Owain's alias sharing its name with Claire's Eidolon.
      • Anise often mentions May 2, 2693, after the events of her 3877 run of the Mario Party 2 events. May 2, 2693, was when she was originally hit with the Inextinguibili Raptus curse, and Horror Land in 3877 saw the original caster (who was also responsible for tagging her with the Mark II variant on a 2971 rescue mission) nail her with a Mark III variant.
      • The Absalon Howitzer Eclipse functions as this when she gained a Metroid variant of the move on planet ZDR. A test shot of this move reveals that the Galeem and Dharkon AI units she had just gotten from an X Parasite barrage are the ones from her first World of Light op, as they quipped their relief that they were NOT on the receiving end of the move for once - said move had destroyed their original forms as well as one of their reincarnations when Anise happened to get a mission leading to the dimension they happened to reincarnate into.
    • Continuity Nods not relating to Anise:
      • The big one is the summer of 2007 - specifically when Jet first acquired Ice Star. Anise (Jet's Alpha) had copied the affinity choice for her own XF Series model, as listed above.
      • Kind of a mix between whether or not it relates to Anise is a pair of Mario Kart Double Dash tournaments Jet and Anise participated in during 2021. While Jet spent his 2027 op in the Pokemon dimension alongside Leaf Jordan (one-half of the duo who beat Jet and Anise in the sixteen-round first tournament), Anise used her share of the winnings to create her superstore Sky Relic Central (which usually ends up appearing whenever a new Rainbow Angel's revelation is either coming or had just recently happened).
      • Jet's 2027 op later returns to the mix twelve years after said op, as his initial solo foray into Remnant of the RTQ multiverse reunites him with the Malachite twins from 2027. Miltia turns out to be a Rainbow Angel, as designation Delta 5 under her new name Marissa.
  • Kyon: Big Damn Hero is littered with them, from mentioning who received their tanabata wishes first to Koizumi giving an explanation to Haruhi over a cup of coffee, to a reference to the source material's Drama CD, where Haruhi wrote a literal Ear Worm and Hare Hare Yukai. And now, ACHAKURA!!!.
  • The Many Dates of Danny Fenton: During a battle in Chapter 12 of "Danny and Kitty", Manny's head gets hurt so much he wonders if he ended "up in the afterlife again". That's a nod to El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera episode "The Grave Escape".
  • The final sequence in the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic/The LEGO Movie crossover fanfic My Little LEGO Movie is a reference to the very same sequence from the season 4 episode "Pinkie Pride", this one involving Emmet.
  • Superwomen of Eva 2: Lone Heir of Krypton: An interesting one: When Asuka is testing her powers, she comes across the scrapped wreck of the rail-mounted mortar that Ramiel destroyed during his rampage. Her surprise when she's able to lift it up is palpable.
  • The Massive Multiplayer Crossover fic, The World of the Creatures features a fair few
    • Buffy and Rory have a short moment of bonding over their shared habit of coming back from the dead. Buffy died twice, once in "Prophecy Girl" and again in "The Gift". However, even she is impressed when Rory mentions "dying" five times. The instances he mentions are from "Amy's Choice", "Cold Blood", "The Curse of the Black Spot", and "The Pandorica Opens".
    • When talking with the Eleventh Doctor, one of the Silurians mentions an ark built before they went into hibernation, to which the Eleventh Doctor responds, "Oh you mean the one with all the dinosaurs?" This is a reference to the Silurian Ark seen in "Dinosaurs on a Spacehship".
    • While venting to her Diplodocus, Buffy makes reference to "that whole musical fiasco." This is a reference to the Buffy Musical Episode "Once More With Feeling".
    • Amy, as a throwaway mention during a conversation, mentions that she and Rory, to their irritation, still sleep in bunk beds. The idea that the Ponds sleep in bunk beds aboard the TARDIS is first mentioned in "The Doctor's Wife". Also from that episode, the Doctor refers to the TARDIS as "Sexy".

Animorphs

  • Eleutherophobia:
    • In Back to the Future, Tom mentions that the scent of "Muffins Episode I" is all over Mrs. Gruen's yard, as in the cat that Jake acquired and burped out a clone of in Akira.
    • In A Straight Line Down Through the Heart, Cassie notices the slash marks on the sofa that Jake created as a tiger back in War Games.

Bolt

  • The Bolt Chronicles:
    • Rhino's canon assertion that he "isn't all hamster. I'm one-sixteenth wolf with, you know, a little wolverine in there somewhere" is echoed and added onto in the post-canon story "The Funkmeister." Here, Rhino claims an even more exotic background than he did in the movie, one that references his enjoyment of Funk music.
Rhino: [harrumphing] Au contraire, mein Herr! I'm an enthusiastic devotee of Afro-American pop from way back. Not only am I part wolf and part wolverine — there’s a healthy dollop of panther in my family tree. You knew that, didn't you?
    • In "The Supermarket," Bolt says it's a good idea to stay in the car trunk they're trapped in, that it's unwise to jump out of a moving vehicle — something he has learned from experience. In canon, Bolt (who thought he had superpowers at the time) jumped out of or off of a moving van, a freight train, and an animal control vehicle moving at significant speed, and in every case he got injured doing so.
Mittens: But you're right about one thing — we gotta stay put till the car stops. It's not safe to jump out of a moving vehicle onto a highway. You know I speak from experience here, don'tcha Wags?
Bolt: [sighing] Yeah. I went flying out of a moving truck, downhill off a train, and away from an animal control van during our cross-country trip. You don’t have to tell me four times…
    • Two snippets from Bolt's angry outbursts in canon are mashed up together in "The Cameo" when the dog angrily denounces a fanfic depicting him and Penny having a sexual encounter. One canon quote occurs when he's yelling at the two cats teasing him in his trailer ("Get back here, you sick, revolting, loathsome little..."), while the other happens shortly after meeting Mittens ("You just can't stop lying, can you, cat? It's in the genes. It's just gross!").
Bolt: [sticking out his tongue in distaste] Yuck! Me? Having sex with my human? That's just gross! What kind of sick, disgusting, loathsome little degenerate do they think I am? Who comes up with this stuff, anyway? I've got a good mind to… to…
    • Part of Bolt's rant in canon after he thinks Mittens has poisoned him ("You have two seconds to tell me what you've implanted in me, cat! Poison? A parasite? Poison? Oh, no, I just said that, didn't I? See, I'm all discombobulated. I can't think straight.") is used in "The Coyote" when the dog yells at the title character after he tries to distract Bolt by changing the subject.
Bolt: That's enough! You’re getting me all discombobulated — I can't even think straight! Look, none of this matters, okay? You just get your shabby carcass outta here and leave my cat alone!
    • After Rhino watches the newest episode of Bolt's old TV show in canon, one that uses aliens and a Flying Saucer as a major plot element, he expresses disapproval by saying, "That is totally unrealistic!" When he first sees the titular object in "The Spaceship," he says the same thing.
    • In canon, Mittens wryly calls Bolt "Cujo" while trying to calm him down from an angry jag. She does the same thing in stories such as "The Autobiography" and "The Spaceship," and for the same reason.
    • In canon, Mittens snidely says "My hero... " when Bolt knocks himself senseless trying to unsuccessfully smash open a pet container door by ramming it with his head. In "The Paris Trip," Mittens utters the same phrase when she sees Bolt walking gingerly past as he complains about getting shots and a flea/tick dip at the veterinarians office.
    • In canon, a huge billboard with Bolt's picture on it (advertising his TV show) is seen in New York — though the dog doesn't actually notice it himself. "The Imaginary Letters" has Bolt correctly guess that there likely was a large billboard in Times Square with his likeness on it.
Bolt: We even got a chance to go to the Statue of Liberty (fascinating, especially coupled with Ellis Island) and Times Square (talk about tacky! I'll bet they even had a big lighted billboard with my picture on it way back when to advertise the show).

Calvin and Hobbes

  • Whenever a new invention is introduced in Calvin & Hobbes: The Series, Hobbes will usually reference Calvin's previous inventions and the hijinks that ensued.
    • Also, Rosalyn refuses to babysit Calvin in "A Day at the Office" because of the antics she endured in "Attack of the Vampire Babysitter".
    • In "Thunderstorm", Calvin mentions Brainstorm's earlier plot to steal the world's electricity.
      • Thunderstorm himself references Jack's left arm being loose, which infuriates Brainstorm:
"I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW IT DOESN'T! JACK IS EQUIPPED WITH AUTO-REPAIR NANOTECHNOLOGY, NOW! THAT ARM IS ON THERE FOR GOOD! WE HAVEN'T EVEN USED THAT GAG SINCE OUR FIRST APPEARANCE ON THE SHOW!"
    • Calvin references Brainstorm's earlier reluctance to use the Enemy Mine trope, and Socrates is surprised that he hadn't heard it (he wasn't present in that episode).

The DCU

  • In Batman Revisited, the bomb that almost kills Batman and the Question in One Big Joke is from Kahndaq.
  • Cadet Scrap features the full sparring scene from Batwoman: Rebirth #1 that the story expands on, and also mentions the problematic plebes from Company E-2 that Kate mentioned in Batwoman: Elegy. It also thoroughly references its prequel, Well-Matched.

Doctor Who

Dragon Ball

  • Dragon Ball Z Elsewhere: Plenty. From explaining why Yamcha knew about Roshi and Son Gohan; to reply to the question "why they don't ask Shenron to become stronger?" (they actually do, since they ask to gain the Saiyan zenkai ability —which they call simply "recovering power"— which is the most they can do while remaining human); to "why Cell, Frieza and Cold had their bodies in the afterlife?" and more.

Dungeons & Dragons

  • Vow of Nudity: During their crossover, Kay'la accuses Haara of stealing her "running around naked kicking butt" bit, then learns Haara's been doing it longer and exclaims, "Shit, I stole your bit!" Indeed, Kay'la's author cites Haara's as inspiration for Kay'la's series.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2

  • The Tainted Grimoire has one where the Camoan native who cheered Luso and Cheney up in Chapter 63 turned out to be the father of the girl whom Luso, Cheney and Hurdy helped all the way back in Chapter 8.

Forever Knight

  • The virtual continuation FK4 has a bunch of references to small details in the show which came up once and were never mentioned again. For example, Natalie's cat and Tracy's knowledge of tattoos.

Frozen (2013)

  • What About Witch Queen? does it three times:
    • When Hans is escaping Koenigsberg castle, he muses that he used to climb around it as a child and that the skill helped him when wooing Anna during Love is an Open Door.
    • Kai and king Charles remark on different occasions that Elsa organizes weekly ice rinks in the castle courtyard, like she did in the end of the film.
    • When Anna and Hans meet again, Hans admits that the past events might affect Anna's opinion about him.

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed

  • An Acceptable Arrangement:
    • During one early scene with Wen Ruohan in which he suggests marrying his children into the Nie Sect, Hou Yue hopes that any children Sun Qiu may have will meet any Wen children on the battlefield instead. Since Sun Qiu becomes Nie Mingjue's mother, she gets her wish.
    • The first time baby Nie Mingjue meets Wen Ruohan, he bursts out crying and doesn’t let him get near. This sums up what their relationship would become in-canon.
    • The first time Mingjue speaks to Huaisang (who isn’t born yet), he introduces himself as “your da-ge”. Huaisang almost exclusively refers to Mingjue as “da-ge” within canon.
    • Hou Yue states that the child she is carrying would only become Nie Sect Leader in the face of a great tragedy. Nie Huaisang does become Sect Leader Nie after his older brother is murdered.

Halo

  • Company0051 includes several:
    • When finding the crashed Covenant ship, John-117 identifies it as a Seraph-class starfighter.
    • John directly cites The Captain as having directly violated Article II, subsection 7 of the Cole Protocol, which directly forbids the retrieval of Covenant artifacts and technology until the available party is certain that the item is cannot be tracked.
    • The armor the kids get at the end looks very similar to the Marine uniforms from Combat Evolved.

Inheritance Cycle

Kingdom Hearts

  • Kingdom Hearts 3: Final Stand:
    • Sora's taking Ven's heart into his body, as well as Aqua's crafting Castle Oblivion, during the events of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep are referenced in the first and second chapters.
    • In chapter 14, Aqua recalls having first met Sora, Riku, and Kairi when they were little kids, also in Birth by Sleep. During the conversation, Sora also recalls having seen her back then, as well as in the Realm of Sleep.

The Loud House

  • Anger Management:
    • Lana once does a version of "Lincoln's victory dance". Lincoln did a victory dance in "Come Sale Away".
    • Lynn tells Ronnie Anne that Lincoln reads Princess Pony and tried to flush a comic down the toilet, while Lincoln reveals to Ronnie Anne that it was actually Lucy who did it. This happened in "Sleuth or Consequences".
    • Lynn mentions that Luan made embarrassing videos of Lincoln, which happened in "Making the Case".
    • Lynn brings up a time Lincoln wore makeup as a baby. This happened in a flashback in "The Whole Picture".
    • Ronnie Anne saw The Harvester, which was a movie Lincoln watched in "The Price of Admission".
  • The Boy Who Cried Idiot: Lincoln remembers "that stupid sister protocol" from "Brawl in the Family" and the time his sisters kicked him out for being bad luck in "No Such Luck".
  • Lincoln is Done references several events from The Loud House, including the fight for the last slice of pizza ("Slice of Life"), Luna taking Lincoln to a concert ("For Bros About to Rock"), and Lola blackmailing her siblings to get into a club ("A Tattler's Tale").

Mario & Luigi

Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • In Sixes and Sevens, one of the papers Michael has access to during his sequester is The Daily Bugle.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

  • Wings to Fly frequently points out bits of Lucrezia Noin's backstory from the canon; in the first chapter it puts the Frozen Teardrop prequel/sequel story to Wing in continuity by mentioning Treize Kushrenada having taken a bullet for Noin once, while placing Frozen Teardrop out of continuity in the same chapter by introducing Noin's parents as in line with her pre-Frozen Teardrop backstory. In the second chapter, many, many references are made to the episode "The Victoria Nightmare" and Noin recognizes the characteristics of Aries mobile suit's radar from memory (before her Taurus' computer can!), having been an Aries pilot for a long time.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • A Diplomatic Visit: In chapter 25, Discord's letter makes reference to his also being fond of "a certain chaotic little trio", referencing the time he spent with the Cutie Mark Crusaders in My Little Pony: Friends Forever issue #2.
  • Escape from the Moon: In chapter 8 of the sequel The Mare From the Moon, Discord mentions "this realm's Door to the Realms in Between". This was previously mentioned in chapter 12 of another of Evilhumour's stories, A Chance Meeting of Two Moons.

Naruto

Pokémon

  • Penny Saves Paldea: Penny's book about dealing with social anxiety references people from two previous Pokemon games. The author of the book is G.L. Allister (the G.L likely meaning "Gym Leader"), who's terrified of showing his face in public without a mask covering most of it. One of the book's chapters is about people being unable to recognize that Professor Kukui and the Masked Royal are the same person.
  • We Are All Pokémon Trainers:
    • The events of the games are often referenced, especially by characters who were there to witness the events.
    • The in-universe J-Team vs Capcom game Boss Rushes are big ones to characters that have long since departed.
    • When explaining to Dune, Deziree, Lyuri, and Duke about Mew, Tagg references the time during the Hoenn arc when Gamer ended up striking Mew.
    • After the strangeness of the last couple April Fools, people start treating them with wariness.
    • Tagg tends to like to visit the spots of previous events for old times sakes.

Protectors of the Plot Continuum

  • Things I Am Not Allowed to Do at the PPC: Rule 99 and its addendums discuss making Daleks out of art supplies and hyping them up as an invasion force. Two months prior, an article published in the Multiverse Monitor described someone doing exactly that, sending HQ into a panic until people realized the Dalek was tiny and made of pipe cleaners.

Real-Person Fic

  • Several of these in The Keys Stand Alone: The Soft World, occasionally used to further the plot. For example, when trying to figure out a way to help Ringo see through magical masks, Paul recalls the day in With Strings Attached when Ringo cropped up psychic and Grunnel talked about breaking through masks, leading the four to look for a skahs wizard to teach Paul how to cast that spell. Sadly, none of them can.

Robotech

  • The fanfics Scoop and Valkyrie Nights contain scenes from the canon material, and the dialogue from those scenes were transcribed word-for-word.

RWBY

  • During chapter 2 of The Rise of Arc, Jaune is distracted from his loneliness by a sudden feeling of chills down his spine..."almost as if he were being hunted." Fans of canon will know that this is because Pyrrha- his future Love Interest- was watching him at this exact moment.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Soul Eater

  • Soul Eater: Troubled Souls: There are plenty of references to the canon series and the fanfic’s prequel sprinkled throughout the story, mostly dropped in the narration or in conversations. Most notably, in Chapter 1, there is a mention that evil activity was low a little more than two decades ago. Soul Eater Zeta is set 23 years ago, and it’s been said there activity of Kishin Eggs is low. Chapter 2’s classroom lecture is just a giant one that establishes continuity with respect to the Baba Yaga Castle invasion and its aftermath.

South Park

  • A lot of The Mysterion Mythos is tied to continuing the superhero arc episodes from the source material, and a few other episodes as well (the fanfic also uses Butters' female ego Marjorine from the season nine episode of the same name).

Spec Ops: The Line

  • Afterglow (Unfaithful): The fic states that Walker was an Army Ranger before being selected for Delta Force. This is Truth in Television for the majority of Delta operators but it doubles as a nod to the earlier Spec Ops games, which featured Army Rangers as protagonists.

Star Trek

  • In Frostbite Dalsh Ruul refers to the Breen having acquired the design for painsticks from the Klingons back in the time of Chancellor Mow'ga. Mow'ga was said in DS9: "'Til Death Do Us Part" to have sent a military expedition into Breen space that was never heard from again.
  • Remembrance of the Fallen:
    • To the first chapter of Bait and Switch when Eleya introduces herself to Tia and Sobaru as follows:
    • And to Eleya mentioning in "From Bajor to the Black, Part II" about how her Extreme Omnisexual Starfleet Academy roommate Jasmine Velasquez frequently kicks her out of the dorm on Friday nights because she brought back a hookup.
Thrass: Anyway, think of it as something to do when Jazz Velasquez kicks you out on Friday nights.
      Eleya: How do you—
Thrass: I’m your professor. I know everything.
  • The Wrong Reflection:
    • The Gorn flagship GHS S'slee is named after the Gorn that Kirk fought in Star Trek: The Original Series: "Arena". (That was one of the names he was given in the Expanded Universe.)
    • One of the ships assigned to guard the Bajor in the attack on the Terran Empire's base in the prime universe is the USS Laporin, after a classmate of Ben Sisko's who was said to have been killed by the Klingons in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: "Apocalypse Rising".
    • Gul Ekoor, commanding the Cardassian Second Order forces taking part in the battle, was one of the Cardassian soldiers who joined Damar, Garak, and Kira for the attack on the Dominion military headquarters in DS9: "What You Leave Behind".
    • Chapter five has Eleya explaining to Dal Kanril, her mirror universe counterpart, how she got into Starfleet from the Bajoran Militia, from From Bajor to the Black, and then she and two of her security personnel give an overview of the Dominion War arc from DS9.

Tolkien's Legendarium

  • Fan stories set in the world of the source material can make nods to Tolkien's own works. Some readers may miss these references:
    • The title of A Far Green Country is a nod. The phrase "a far green country" appears twice in The Lord of the Rings. Frodo dreams of it in book I, chapter 8. Then Frodo sees Valinor in book VI, chapter 9: "he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise."
    • In The Games of the Gods, Book One, Chapter 71 explains why Dior, Steward of Gondor, never married. This is a nod to The Peoples Of Middle Earth, which established that Dior had no son.
    • In Time Will Tell, chapter 27/28 "The Council of Elrond", Gandalf describes how Jorryn "talked in her sleep". This is not a new trick. Back in The Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter 1, Gandalf told Frodo that he "talked long in your sleep". Both cases show how Gandalf can read sleeping minds.
    • The second-last chapter of Time Will Tell is "A Long Expected Wedding". The first chapter of The Lord of The Rings is "A Long-Expected Party".

Total Drama

  • Total Drama World Tour Deluxe: Lindsay ends up having to dye her hair and disguise herself while in Paris due to being banned from the city as a result of the incident that got her and Beth arrested as mentioned in the Celebrity Manhunt special post-Action.

Transformers

  • Bad Press: When Starscream complains about the various fanfics Soundwave found that depict the Decepticons as humans, Megatron says that it isn't any worse than being turned into a tree. In "Sea Change", Rumble was tricked into using the episode's Phlebotinum to turn into a tree.
