    V

V

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/v_96.png
The main character of the comic. She's a vampire and a self-styled vigilante who wants to guard the city, but tends to fall short in that regard sometimes.
  • Action Girl: Despite not seeming like it, she is a good fighter.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Shows up just in time to stop Golden Samurai from killing Strange Girl.
  • Bound and Gagged: Happens to all the characters at least once, but V stands out as the most frequent victim.
  • Bring It: Golden Samurai warns her to back off or she'll hurt her. V responds by gesturing this.
  • Broken Pedestal: V gets this for Coolgirl when she frees the Golden Samurai and allows her to kill Strange Girl, and even moreso when V discovers that Coolgirl is actually the Vampire of Fetishville and she framed Strange Girl.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: V can be a clumsy klutz, but she is surprisingly good at fighting.
  • Butt-Monkey: She's always getting tied up and gagged.
  • Cassandra Truth: Athena doesn't buy it when V tells her that she's a good vampire.
  • Catchphrase: "Can you (please) untie me now?" Usually said to Strange Girl.
  • Damsel in Distress: V ends up bound and gagged often.
  • Dumb, but Diligent: While she can be ditzy a lot of the time, she remains adamant about fighting crime.
  • Dumbass Has a Point:
    • She points out to Ivy Quinn that finishing her Enemies List would leave her with no one to exact revenge on, which would bring her research to a halt. Even Strange Girl praises V for this.
    • V also calls out Athena for thinking she's a monster when Athena has been committing robberies just to lure her out.
  • Fiery Redhead: Has pink "vampiric" hair and she's shown to be energetic and eager when fighting crime.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: She is a vampire and she does feed on blood, but only drains those who are criminals, and even then, she doesn't kill them.
  • Go Through Me: She challenges the Golden Samurai by coming between her and Strange Girl, stating that she'll only get to her if she gets through her first.
  • Hero with an F in Good: She's good at fighting and has good intentions, but she's not taken seriously by villains and can sometimes bumble and do something idiotic.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Once she's suspected as the Vampire Serial Killer.
  • Heroic Wannabe: She has the potential to be a genuine crime fighter but falls short when it comes to thinking things through and realizing that comic book rules don't apply to her world.
  • Homeless Hero: It's implied that she didn't have a home before Strange Girl let her live in her house rent-free.
  • Idiot Hero: Mainly due to her Wrong Genre Savvy tendencies and knack of impulsively jumping into action.
  • Ignored Enemy: The very first time we see her try to stop a crime, the Kinky Kunoichi Klan members ignore her upon arrival.
  • I Work Alone: Tries to convince Strange Girl that she works solo and doesn't need a sidekick at first.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: V can be a little insensitive sometimes but her heart is definitely in the right place.
  • Literal-Minded: When she sees blood pudding, she assumes it's Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
  • One-Letter Name: Only known as V.
  • Pink Heroine: She is a superheroine who has pink hair.
  • Protagonist Title: The titular heroine.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: She holds this principle thanks to her idolization of Batman, and is appalled when other vigilantes don't do the same as her.
  • Vigilante Man: She lives to thwart criminals despite not being a part of law enforcement.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Her idolization of Batman bites her in the butt many times, simply because these two worlds are different.

    Strange Girl

Strange Girl

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/strange_girl.png
"Hey! Are you in distress?"
A girl that V encounters by chance while trying to stop the Kinky Kunoichi Klan. She convinces V that she needs a sidekick and so the two work together to fight crime.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's sweet most of the time, but if you try to kill her or hurt V, she'll never forgive you.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: She might be as strange as her name suggests, but she's quite knowledgeable about gadgets and her help improves V's crime fighting endeavors by lots.
  • Catchphrase: "People in this town sure have strange fetishes." Or something along those lines.
  • Clear My Name: She's accused of being the Vampire of Fetishville by Golden Samurai in the final two arcs and V works to prove her innocence.
  • Damsel in Distress: Ends up like this in the final arc after being kidnapped by Golden Samurai.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She likes to comment on V's shenanigans with snark.
  • Deuteragonist: The second main character next to V.
  • Dumb Blonde: Mostly averted. She's talented at making gadgets, but she can be a little odd sometimes.
  • Fetish: According to her, making non-lethal restraint technology.
  • The Gadfly: She occasionally teases V by tying her up and leaving her like that for a while.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She helps V by providing her with a lot of gadgets to fight crime.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's a helpful girl with blonde hair.
  • Her Name Really Is "Barkeep": Her full name is Mysterious Strange Girl.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: She has more awareness and knowledge on how to deal with crime than V does.
  • Limited Wardrobe: She's always seen in her Japanese schoolgirl uniform.
  • Muggle Best Friend: She's an ordinary human who serves as V's sidekick.
  • Nice Girl: Despite her occasional frustration with V, she really cares about her and helps her always to fight crime.
  • Non-Action Guy: She doesn't get involved in fighting with V.
  • Phrase Catcher: V ends up asking her to untie her many times.
  • Reverse Arm-Fold: Strange Girl is seen doing this pose a lot.
  • Sailor Fuku: She always wears the traditional Japanese schoolgirl uniform, despite not being in school anymore.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: The first time she met V, she takes it at face value when the vigilante sarcastically says she likes to be tied up. Which is odd, since she's shown to be capable of being snarky herself later.
  • Sarcastic Devotee: Strange Girl sticks by V no matter what, even if she does get exasperated with her from time to time.
  • The Smart Girl: She's the inventor, Mission Control and advisor for V.

K

  • Only in It for the Money: Her only desire is to rob banks to become rich.
  • One-Letter Name: Only known as K.
  • Starter Villain: She's the first criminal V is shown fighting.

  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: She's not pleased to see V again, to say the least.

    L

L

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/l_96.png
The CEO of MalCo and creator of the Generic Thug brand.
  • Any Last Words?: Pulls this on V as she's about to let her fall through the window. V responds by questioning the method and convincing her not to waste the chair, so L has her workers untie V then push only her out.
  • Arc Villainess: Of the second chapter.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To K. Both of them are leaders with One Letter Names of a group seeking to gain riches through illegal means. While K leads a gang and directly rob banks, L is the head of a company that gets payment from providing goons to help criminals. Also, K joins the fight along with her minions, while L is non-action and relies on her employees to do the fighting.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: She runs a company that supplies thugs to help with criminal activities.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She puts on a polite front during her company presentation to V, but it's clear she only does it for marketing purposes.

  • Greed: As expected from a corrupt CEO.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Some of her hair covers her left eye, befitting her nononsense attitude.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: L does not engage V in a head-on fight. Instead, she relies on her goons in fights.
  • One-Letter Name: Only known as L.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Due to insurance policy limitations, L doesn't directly V, instead opting for defenstration because then technically, they didn't kill her, the fall did.
  • Prim and Proper Bun: Has a bun held up with hair sticks to go with her strict and straightforward attitude.
  • Slave to PR: She really wants to get the name of the company out so that it's guaranteed that they come out on top.

    Laura Strad

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laura_strad.png
A high ranking detective working for the police department. She was tasked with hunting down the serial killer plaguing the city.
  • Big Good: She's the most influential of the heroes and the most reasonable and well-meaning.
  • By-the-Book Cop: Laura always follows the regulations of proper police procedure in her investigation.
  • The Commissioner Gordon: She offers to be this to V, though the latter refuses. Even then, her believing that V is not the serial killer ultimately helps the latter in uncovering the identity of the true culprit.
  • Fair Cop: Laura is a cute woman working as a detective for the police.
  • Fetish: Her coworkers in the police department think she has a thing for vampires, which Laura denies at every turn. She privately admits to V that it's true later.
  • Hero Antagonist: A detective investigating the Vampire of Fetishville, which causes her to oppose V.
  • Humble Heroine: She genuinely thanks V for her help in putting an end to the serial killings.
  • Nice Girl: She's pleasant and genuinely values the lives of other people.
  • Non-Action Guy: She's one of the few non-action girls in the comic.
  • Only Sane Woman: She's quite literally the only character who actually believes V when she tells her she's not a criminal.
  • Phrase Catcher: Whenever she mentions vampires, people question if that's a weird fetish of hers.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: In a Hero Antagonist sense. Laura is shown working on her assigned investigation, but none of her actions affect the plot long-term. By the time she finally comes face-to-face with V, she's convinced she's not the killer and lets her go.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Once she realizes that V is not the Vampire Killer, she frees her and offer to help her capture the true culprit.
  • Signature Headgear: Her detective hat.
  • Sympathetic Inspector Antagonist: Laura is an honest woman working to achieve justice.

    Ivy Quinn

Ivy Quinn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iq.png
A scientist who was denied a big "revenge budget" by the city's university so she plotted to destroy it as payback.
  • Arc Villainess: Of the third chapter.
  • Brainy Brunette: She has brown hair and is an intelligent inventor.
  • Enemies List: Apparently has a long list that she intends to get revenge on.
  • Evil Genius: Probably the smartest character in the setting, and she's hellbent on revenge.
  • Eyes Out of Sight: She's the only main character whose eyes were never seen due to her glasses.
  • Didn't Think This Through: V points out to her that her goal of destroying all her enemies would leave her without vengeance, which fuels her research. IQ admits she didn't consider that.
  • Ditzy Genius: For all her capabilities, she somehow didn't think to store her mechanical spider's schematics privately instead of putting it on the internet.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Putting her own schematics on the internet leads to her downfall.
  • It's All About Me: She only cares that her budget was reduced and is willing to destroy the university just for that.
  • Mad Scientist: Revenge driven and talented at building robots.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Because she's good at building robots, she relies on them instead to fight.
  • Opaque Lenses: Her eyes are not visible through her glasses.
  • Revenge: Her primary motivation after getting her funding cut.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: The only character who has spectacles, and she's a scientist.

    Athena

Athena

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/athena_8.png
A self proclaimed vampire hunter. When she caught wind of V and the murders, she came to Fetishville to eliminate her.
  • Action Girl: Being a Vampire Hunter makes this a requirement for her.
  • Anti-Hero: Her end goal is well-intentioned, but her refusal to hear V's defense against her accusations leads her to commit some misdeeds.
  • Arc Villainess: Of the fourth chapter.
  • Arrested for Heroism: Or at least what she perceives as heroism. Athena did commit attempted murder of someone innocent, robberies and kidnapping, all due to her desire to kill what she thought was a threat to humans.
  • Fantastic Racist: She seems to be bigoted towards vampires from the way she describes them.
  • Hero Antagonist: Her motivation is admirable, but it makes her go up against the protagonist V.
  • Heroic Lineage: According to her, she comes from a long line of vampire hunters.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: When Coolgirl comes to V's rescue the second time, she uses Athena's own handcuffs on her.
  • Inspector Javert: Athena is wrongly convinced that V is the Vampire of Fetishville, and pursues her relentlessly despite the lack of evidence.
  • Ironic Name: She shares her name with the Greek goddess of wisdom, who's generally depicted as being benevolent and friendly.
  • Knight Templar: She's wrongfully convinced that V is a menace that needs to be removed, despite there being no evidence of that. She's also willing to commit some robberies in order to lure V out to capture her.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: She gets imprisoned for her actions towards V.
  • Noble Bigot: She has an intense dislike for vampires, but her actions are a result of a genuine desire to protect people from vampires.
  • Not So Above It All: When Coolgirl makes fun of her in front of two criminals in a "cool" manner, Athena tries to retort in the same way then ask the criminals for validation, then brushes them aside when they say that she doesn't measure up.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: She has red and black clothing, and while she's not outright evil, she still exhibits Knight Templar behavior.
  • Red Is Heroic: She has a red headband and clothing, and while her goal puts her at odds with V, she's doing it for the greater good.
  • Red Is Violent: Athena doesn't mess around and has an aggressive demeanor along with her red clothes.
  • Pet the Dog: There is exactly one moment where she was remotely friendly towards V, and that is when she captures her and apologizes about the clutter in the car because she doesn't have many guests.
  • Vampire Hunter: Her whole shtick.
  • Worthy Opponent: Some of her comments indicate that she considers V to be this.

    Coolgirl (Unmarked Spoilers!)

Coolgirl

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/coolgirl.png
Another vigilante of the city. She's considered very cool by most due to the way she portrays herself.
  • Arc Villainess: Of the sixth and final chapter.
  • At Least I Admit It: When she reveals her prejudice towards Irish people and V calls her out on it, Coolgirl retorts that everyone is a little racist, she's just willing to admit it.
  • Big Bad: The true Vampire Killer, and she's an actual vampire too!
  • Cool Shades: Fitting her cool image.
  • Dark Action Girl: Once she's revealed as the villain.
  • Death by Irony: Her Cool Shades prevent her from seeing the sunrise during her confrontation with V, thus weakening her and allowing Golden Samurai to defeat her.
  • Evil All Along: Coolgirl was using her superheroine persona to hide her identity as the serial killer.
  • Evil Brit: invoked Word of God is that she speaks in a faux British accent because it's cool. She also wears clothes with the British flag on them.
  • Face Death with Despair: She undergoes a Villainous Breakdown right when she trips off the roof after Golden Samurai gets her tied up.
  • Final Boss: The last villain faced by V.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The Vampire of Fetishville is mostly kept in the background for the first few chapters, before becoming the defacto Big Bad of the story.
  • Hungry Menace: Unlike V, Coolgirl is not selective about who to drain blood from, making her a danger to all the citizens.
  • Kick the Dog: Responds to V's disappointment that they couldn't be vampire friends by cruelly denying she would ever be friends with her.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The last chapter is the most serious by far thanks to her presence.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Coolgirl puts on the act of calm, awe-aspiring heroine to trick people and hide her true nature.
  • Mask of Sanity: Her cool attitude was really just hiding a sadistic girl who is willing to do anything to feed on people's blood.
  • Not Quite Dead: The webcomic ends with her waking up in the morgue, revealing she didn't truly die.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Towards the Irish, apparently.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Her hair is purple and she's one of the bigger badasses in the comic.
  • Really 700 Years Old: She reveals in the final chapter that she lived for a long time killing people.
  • Serial Killer: She kills numerous people throughout the story, and apparently killed many more across many years.
  • Sinister Shades: Once her true nature is revealed, the glasses serve to make her frightening.
  • The Stoic: Her demeanor is very cool headed in comparison to other characters.
  • Verbal Tic: She likes to call other people "love".
  • Viler New Villain: She's far worse than any of the other villains because she took advantage of her heroic reputation to hide her true nature, and she's a killer, something no one else actually achieves in the story.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When the Golden Samurai manages to get her tied up using Strange Girl's invention, she starts freaking out about it and falls off the building to her apparent death.
    Coolgirl: No! I... I can't be tied up! I'm too... too..coooooool!
  • Villainous Rescue: Twice with V: Coolgirl first intervenes when Athena is about to take away V, then again after Athena's second attempt succeeded.
  • Walking Spoiler: She's a vampire and the true main antagonist of the story.

    Golden Samurai

Golden Samurai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/golden_samurai.png
A mysterious individual who wants to hunt down the Serial Killer to avenge his innocent victims.
  • Action Girl: One of the more capable fighters out of all the characters.
  • Anti-Villain: Golden Samurai is strict, but truly well-meaning vigilante. She stands on the other side of the fight opposing V and Strange Girl out of a genuine desire to do good, but she's willing to kill Strange Girl herself after she suspected her to be the serial killer to end the reign of terror once and for all.
  • Arc Villainess: Of the fifth chapter.
  • Being Good Sucks: She recognizes that being a hero isn't easy because it requires you to do the right thing, even if it is the hard thing to do.
  • The Comically Serious: Her no-nonsense attitude repeatedly clashes with the silliness of the other characters.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To Athena. Both of them aim to hunt down the Vampire of Fetishville and bring an end to his terror, and both of them go about it using some morally questionable methods. However, while Athena simply grabbed V and tried to kill her just for being a vampire without bothering to investigate the murders in depth, Golden Samurai actually looked at the evidence, conducted some investigating and came to a seemingly logical conclusion. The only reason why Golden Samurai was going to kill the wrong person is because Strange Girl was framed by the real perpetrator, Coolgirl.
  • Cool Mask: As part of her samurai outfit that keeps her identity a secret.
  • Don't Make Me Destroy You: She warns V not to stand between her and Strange Girl or else she'll kill her too. V responds by gesturing to Bring It.
    Golden Samurai: Very well.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: As the name suggests, her entire outfit is colored gold, and she's one of the tougher adversaries V faced.
  • Good Is Not Nice: She's truly a heroine, but that doesn't mean she's all that approachable.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Played with. She's not as nice as Strange Girl, but she's definitely loads kinder than L.
  • Heartfelt Apology: She delivers this to V and Strange Girl after taking care of the real Vampire Killer. She wasn't Easily Forgiven, though.
  • Hero Antagonist: Goes up against V and Strange Girl because she genuinely believed the latter was the serial killer.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Justifies attempting to kill Strange Girl with this.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Most of the time she's serious minded and completely focused on her goal, which can make her come off as cold, but the ending has her wholeheartedly apologize to V and Strange Girl for the trouble she caused for them.
  • Karma Houdini: Unlike most antagonists, Golden Samurai gets away with almost wrongfully killing Strange Girl. She's not forgiven by the protagonists for her actions, but aside from that, not a whole lot of repercussions.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: She believes life is a harsh place that is grossly misrepresented in comics, but also thinks people should still do the right thing even if it is hard.
  • Knight of Cerebus: She's the most serious and professional of all the adversaries V faced, barring the Vampire of Fetishville himself.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She's really really pissed at Coolgirl's Frame-Up of Strange Girl cause it made her almost kill the latter.
  • No Name Given: Her real name was never stated.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Golden Samurai is the first truly serious antagonist in the story. She doesn't gloat, make jokes and gets straight to the point.
  • Non-Protagonist Resolver: She's the one who ultimately faces off with Coolgirl and seemingly kill her instead of V.
  • Not So Above It All: Even she thinks Coolgirl is very cool. In fact, that was the one time we saw Golden Samurai smile.
  • Not So Stoic: After being accidentally unmasked by V, she displays a more emotional frame of mind.
  • Perpetual Frowner: She's mostly seen frowning in her appearances.
  • Pet the Dog: While she keeps trying to kill Strange Girl, she also does sympathize with V and tries to comfort her about it.
  • Pragmatic Hero: She's willing to go the extra mile to maintain justice, like kidnapping the serial killer suspect's friend to confirm her doubts then leaves said friend to the cops while she kills the suspect herself.
  • Pre-Final Boss: She's the last antagonist faced by V before taking on the Vampire of Fetishville.
  • Rejected Apology: She's on the receiving end of this by V and Strange Girl for wrongfully accusing them and almost killing the latter, much to her sadness.
  • Secret Identity: She's the only known vigilante who actually bothers to keep her face hidden with a mask.
  • Shoot the Dog: She's ready to commit murder to ensure that the Vampire of Fetishville is no longer a threat to the citizens of the city.
  • The Stoic: Pretty expressionless as the masked samurai.
  • Sympathy for the Hero: Part of her does feel bad about V's despair at Strange Girl being the Vampire of Fetishville.
  • Tears of Remorse: She sheds them after using Strange Girl's invention to stop Coolgirl, making her realize that not only is Strange Girl innocent, but also she's passive even when making weapons.

    Name Princess

Name Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/name_princess.png
One of Fetishville's many super heroines. She has yet to come up with a singular superhero name; so she's opted instead for all of them.
  • Action Girl: She's as good a fighter as her peers.
  • Ambiguously Brown: She has a light dark skin shade, unlike everyone else.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With Golden Samurai in Arc 4, though she's dispatched early on by the latter.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: She's set up as sharing the antagonist role with Golden Samurai, but the latter easily removes her from the equation.
  • Hero Antagonist: Like some other characters, she aims to turn V in because she's a superheroine.
  • I Have Many Names: Has a habit of listing off her many monikers.
  • No Name Given: Like the other superheroines, her proper name is not stated.
  • Nominal Hero: Downplayed. She does have heroic motivations, but she also mentions that she wants the accolades for capturing the Vampire Killer.
  • Only Known By Her Nickname: She's either known as Name Princess or one of her many nicknames.
  • Out of Focus: Compared to everyone else, Name Princess doesn't even get past her introduction arc, and she's promptly usurped by Golden Samurai as the chapter's antagonist.
  • Red Baron: As her name suggests, they're too many to count.
  • Try to Fit That on a Business Card: She has many long titles.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: She's not seen again after Golden Samurai beat and subdue her.
  • Whip of Dominance: She uses a whip to tie up V.
  • The Worf Effect: She defeats V easily, but then the Golden Samurai comes along and overpowers her, displaying the toughness of the new unknown character.
