In General
  • The Ace: Heck, just count the entire team as one, aside of the individual members themself excelling at racing.

     El Condor Pasa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elcondorpasa_animefull.png
Soaring, signal victory, and the wrestler's spirit! The best in the world is El!
Birthday: March 17th.
Height: 163cm (5' 4")
Voiced by: Minami Takahashi

  • The Ace: The most promising up-and-comer from Team Rigil.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Referred to as "El".
  • Animal Motifs: Condor, of course. She calls Mambo a condor for this.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: After suffering her first defeat, she promises to get revenge on Suzuka next time. She does win in their next race....but only because Suzuka breaks her leg mid-race. El is devastated that she won at the cost of her friend being injured.
  • Beneath the Mask: El Condor Pasa without her mask is timid. Yes. The confident, passionate, and energetic girl you usually see is the gimmick of a wrestler.
  • Coat Cape: She wears a long-sleeved, red coat with fringe over her shoulders like a cape.
  • Cool Mask: She wears one even when in uniform, resembling the Blinker Hoods worn by horses.
  • Commuting on a Bus: To France (it was probably an Airbus), because that is where the real horse went. She makes occasional appearances, with the others watching her televised race or taking phone calls from her.
  • Foreign Exchange Student: She originally hails from America, and transferred to Japan in order to further her racing career.
  • Friendly Rivalry: She considers Silence Suzuka and Special Week her greatest rivals, and is a good friend to them both.
  • Gratuitous English: She uses it all the time, but then, she is American.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: In the game, she uses more Spanish words than English since her real-life counterpart was named after a Peruvian folk song.
  • Hidden Depths: Lampshaded in the game - she often seems impulsive and not very thoughtful, but you don't get to learn three-and-a-half languages without having at least something between (or, in this case, below) your ears.
El Condor Pasa: Japanese, English, and Spanish...You have to speak foreign languages to run abroad. I'm learning French now!
  • Image Song: "L's Surprise!"
  • Mask of Confidence: The game reveals that she was originally a timid Shrinking Violet until her father gifted her the mask. The resulting confidence is evident in pretty much all of her appearances.
  • No Animals Allowed: El has a hawk named Mambo, whom she has been with since childhood. When she entered Tracen, she came with him. Since no animals are allowed in the dormitory, it is a secret between El and her roommate Grass Wonder.
  • Poirot Speak: See Gratuitous English.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The hot-blooded, enthusiastic, impulsive Red Oni to her roommate Grass Wonder's Blue. Their friendship comes into focus in the game's training mode.
  • The Main Characters Do Everything: El Condor participates in events that her real counterpart did not, for the sake of drama.
  • Masked Luchador: Has a bit of this as a motif. Not only does she wear a mask, her summoning animation in the game has her leaping off a wrestling ring.
  • My Hovercraft Is Full of Eels: She trolls Spe-chan in this fashion when the latter asks her for a greeting phrase during the Japan Cup.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: She beats Silence Suzuka in the Tenno Sho...but only because the other girl broke her leg mid-race. El Condor looks utterly devastated holding her trophy.
  • Red Baron: "Monstrous Bird"
  • The Rival: To Special Week, who she declares her rival after seeing the other girl's race.
  • Second Place Is for Losers: She takes it very hard when she doesn't win a race, crying in frustration. That she lost to the likes of Silence Suzuka and Broye doesn't ease her mind.
  • Spirited Competitor: While she takes losing hard, she's happiest when facing a truly challenging opponent.
  • To Be a Master: Her goal is to be the best in the world.note
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hot sauce. Really hot sauce.
  • Unconventional Smoothie: Sometimes she mentions it in the in-game lobby. This one contains raw eggs, protein powder, chicken breasts, and habaneros. El has to hold her nose while drinking it.
  • #1 Dime: Her mask is from her father.

     Symboli Rudolf
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/symbolirudolf_animefull.png
Birthday: March 13th.
Height: 165cm (5' 4")
Voiced by: Azusa Tadokoro
The current president of Tracen Academy. As an idealist, she wants to make a world where every horsegirl is happy.

  • The Ace: A Triple Crown winner, making her the best of the best.
  • Badass Cape: She wears a red cape with her formal racing outfit, as befits such a prominent champion.
  • Bling of War: Her formal racing outfit is styled like a military uniform, and a fancy one at that.
  • Chest of Medals: Her formal racing outfit includes numerous medals, as befits the champion.
  • Dancing Is Serious Business: She's very displeased with Team Spica's poor performances in the Winning Concerts, seeing it as an embarrassment to Tracen Academy. As such, she has Teio teach the girls to sing and dance properly.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Her participation in a Butler cafe had numerous girls swooning.
  • Fastest Thing Alive: She is an undefeated Champion, holding the greatest honor as a Triple Crown Winner. As such, there are few racers capable of challenging her.
  • Image Song: "SEVEN"
  • Our Founder: She has a statue outside the stadium, as seen by Special Week when she first arrives in Tokyo.
  • Pungeon Master: In the game, she loves puns and would make one given the chance. Her fondness even extends towards pun-related goods, from books to T-shirts!
  • Red Baron: "Emperor".
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: The head of the student council and is as responsible as it goes.
  • Student Council President: She is the current President of Tracen's student council.
  • Team Dad: Her overall demeanor and personality basically makes her this towards Team Rigil, and to an extent, the whole academy (as she is the student council president).
  • Terrible Artist: She might be a racing champion, but an artist she's definitely not, as proven with a poster she drew to promote a race for the Harvest festival.

     Air Groove
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/airgroove_animefull.png
Birthday: April 6th.
Height: 165cm (5' 4")
Voiced by: Ruriko Aoki

  • Does Not Like Men: In her original bio, she was stated to dislike men as a result of something that happened at a past racenote . However, this was removed some time before she was implemented in-game.
  • Facial Markings: She wears red liner around her eyes, in the classical Japanese style associated with Geisha and courtesans.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her formal racing outfit is styled this way, with mismatching colors and stockings.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: It's her goal, to be like her mother who won the Triple Tiara. Later in her training story, she becomes a role model for Mejiro Dober, like her mother is a role model for her.
  • Image Song: "EMPRESS GAME"
  • Iron Lady: Strict, dignified, and no-nonsense, she fits this trope to a T.
  • Number Two: To Rudolf.
  • Red Baron: "Empress".
  • Those Two Guys: Usually seen with TM Opera O.
  • Team Mom: In contrast with Rudolf being the Team Dad, she's the strict but actually caring mother figure of the academy.
  • Tsundere: She's even called one by Taiki Shuttle when she tries to deny she came to train with Suzuka.

     Grass Wonder
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grasswonder_animefull.png
Birthday: February 18th.
Height: 152cm (4' 11")
Voiced by: Rena Maeda
A gentle, calm, and virtuous horse girl from America. As her parents love Japanese traditional culture, she has grown up as a Yamato Nadeshiko who is good at Chado, flower arrangement, calligraphy, Japanese traditional dance, and Naginatajustsu. You might think she is meek. But there are competitive spirit and willpower beneath her smile. She is often categorized as the Golden Generation with her peers.

  • Back in the Saddle: Midway through the series, she's fully recovered and eager to reclaim her former glory. She quickly establishes herself as one of Special Week's biggest rivals.
  • Battle Aura: When she gets truly serious, she shows a blue-colored one.
  • Berserk Button: Do not insult history or tradition in front of her. The range of the insult is wide. You may agree that rating historical horse girls' faces loudly in a museum is insulting history. But she can't overlook even El adding hot sauce to natto.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Remember. She is a typical Silk Hiding Steel.
Seiun Sky: You should not make Grass-chan mad. May I repeat? You. Should not. Make Grass-chan mad.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She also races with different colored shoes, black and white.
  • Foreign Exchange Student: Technically, she is a kikokushijo.
    • In Taiki Shuttle's in-game personal story, Taiki throws a party to ease Grass and El's homesickness.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Special Week is one of her dearest friends, and also one of her rivals.
  • Image Song: "Secret Graduation"
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: When truly serious, her demeanor changes completely.
  • Naginatas Are Feminine: In her unique skill cutscene, she swings a naginata.
  • Red Baron: In her in-game training story, people refer to her as "The Second Monster." The first means Maruzensky. Grass isn't pleased with that nickname because it implies she is second to her senpai.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The cool, cultured, calm Blue Oni to her roommate El Condor Pasa's Red. Their friendship comes into focus in the game's training mode.
  • Spirited Competitor: She's quite competitive once she starts racing again, and particularly wants to race Special Week at her very best. When Special Week loses to her, Grass Wonder calls her out for being too distracted to give it her all.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Grass Wonder is soft-spoken and endlessly polite, but also strong-willed and a fierce competitor.

     Taiki Shuttle
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taikishuttle_animefull.png
Birthday: March 23th.
Height: 172cm (5' 7")
Voiced by: Yuka Ootsubo
A cheerful, friendly, energetic, and caring horse girl from America.

     TM Opera O
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmoperao_animefull.png
Hahahaha! Show the world a grand opera starring me!
Birthday: March 13th.
Height: 156cm (5' 1")
Voiced by: Sora Tokui

  • Actor Allusion: the same voice actress voices Applejack in the Japanese dub of the other horse girl show.
  • Attention Whore: Downplayed Trope. Her bio describes her as eager to be the center of attention, though she (jokingly) complains when her teammates are the focus.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: In the show, TM Opera O's personality would mark her as a minor Heel character or a member of the Goldfish Poop Gang. What they don't tell you is that historically TM Opera O went undefeated for his entire senior year including five major G1 races, a feat virtually unmatched in Japanese racing history.
  • Cool Crown: Always wears a small one.
  • Graceful Loser: In the Road to the Top web anime, she applauds the winner of the race whenever she loses.
  • Image Song: "TM Opera O~Tataeyo towa ni~"
  • Large Ham: Virtually every line she delivers comes with an extra side of ham and cheese. Partially averted in the Road to the Top web anime, where it's strongly implied that this is a facade.
  • Requisite Royal Regalia: Her formal racing outfit is styled like royal regalia, including a crown and a scepter.
  • Those Two Guys: Usually seen with Air Groove.

     Narita Brian
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naritabrian_animefull.png
All I do are run and slash. Until this "thirst" is slaked.
Birthday: May 3rd.
Height: 160cm (5' 3")
Voiced by: Yuuka Aisaka (until November 2020), Rika Kinugawa (December 2020 onwards)

  • The Ace: She is mentioned to have recently earned the Triple Crown, putting her on a level close to that of Symboli.
  • Adaptational Modesty: Her racing outfit in the anime is toned down, with less cleavage and a longer skirt.
  • Coat Cape: She wears one in the classic Banchou style.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She is a carnivore who hates vegetables.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Footage of her racing can be glimpsed at the stadium when Special Week first arrives in Tokyo.
  • Friend to All Children: During the festival, she happily hosts a children's event and loves every minute of it.
  • The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: Downplayed Trope. Brian is far more withdrawn in comparison to her sister, and while the two are close, they have a fierce rivalry on the track. She considers her elder sister her greatest rival and wants to defeat her in a race.
  • Image Song: "Shadow Roll no Chikai"
  • Japanese Delinquents: Her design is inspired by the banchou. Ironically, she is one of the current vice presidents of Tracen.
  • Oral Fixation: Always with a twig on her mouth. It is from a tree that she raised by herself.
  • Pointless Band-Aid: To go with her Banchou style. The one on her nose is meant to invoke the shadow roll her real-life counterpart wore during races.
  • The Quiet One: Compared to the talkative Hishi, she's mostly calm and pleasant.
  • Red Baron: "Shadow Roll Monster"
  • The Rival: To Hishi Amazon, Mayano Top Gun, and Sakura Laurel.
  • Stripperiffic: Her formal racing outfit includes a midriff-baring top and micro-miniskirt. In the anime, her outfit covers a little extra skin.

     Hishi Amazon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hishiamazon_animefull.png
Birthday: March 26th.
Height: 160cm (5' 3")
Voiced by: Yuiko Tatsumi

  • Adaptational Modesty: Her original design heavily implies she's not wearing anything underneath, but her anime design shows she's wearing underwear.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Is the only horse girl so far with a tan.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Which fit her Tsundere personality.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Footage of her racing and plush dolls are seen at the beginning of the series, prior to Hishi's actual introduction.
  • Friend to All Children: She gets roped into helping Narita with the children's event, but has a great time and is glimpsed carrying kids on her back and petting them like you'd pet a horse.
  • Image Song: "Torikago No Lonely Bird"
  • Impossibly-Low Neckline: Her dress hangs off her shoulders, and looks as though it could slip off at any moment.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Subverted. She may have red eyes, but she's far from a bad person. Or dangerous for that matter.
  • Running Gag: She's always made to stand as an informal goal line at the training track. By Season 2 people are even using a wooden board with her appearance painted on it for the same job, and even a flag pole for beach training has her face on it.
  • Team Mom: As the leader of the Miho Dormitory, she takes good care of her girls.
  • Tsundere: She has a tendency to get embarrassed, and insist that she isn't enjoying things.

     Fuji Kiseki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fujikiseki_animefull.png
Don't cry, pony-chan. If you're worried about something, please tell me.
Birthday: April 15th.
Height: 168cm (5' 6")
Voiced by: Eriko Matsui

  • Boyish Short Hair: Sports some of the shortest hair in the series, and wears masculine clothing.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: One of the in-game loading screens implies it.
  • Image Song: "DREAM JACK"
  • Lady in a Power Suit: Her formal racing outfit is modeled after one, making her stand out among the frilly dresses most girls wear.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Her dress shirt is open, and only held together by a belt around her ribcage.
  • Red Baron: "Two-Stage Rocket".
  • Stage Magician: As an entertainer, she can perform magic tricks.
  • Team Mom: She is in charge of Ritto Dormitory, and makes a point to take care of the other girls. Prior to Special Week's debut, she goes to Suzuka and asks that she take care of her roommate.
  • Video Game Historical Revisionism: This one is out of necessity, as the real Fuji Kiseki had his career cut short before getting to challenge the Triple Crown races. Nevertheless, the devs left the gate open to what-could-have-beenists - you can either have her challenge the Triple Crown (her prototype was often called "the phantom triple crowner" for a reason!) or have her switch to mile distances after Satsuki Sho (which is something actually more befitting of her stats)

     Maruzensky
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maruzensky_animefull.png
Birthday: May 19th.
Height: 164cm (5' 4")
Voiced by: Lynn

  • Cool Big Sis: She acts like an older sister to the other girls, and comes across as more mature.
  • Cool Car: IRL, only adults can drive a car in Japan. But she drives her supercar, probably Lamborghini Countach.
  • Disco Dan: Played for Laughs. She has a taste for the '90s and believes it is the latest.
    • In the game, she sometimes dances with a feather fan. It reminds the Japanese of Juliana's Tokyo, the famous nightclub that operated in the early 1990s.
    • She thinks nata de coco is in vogue now. It was popular in 1994.
    • She also mentions Italian cuisine, shoulder pads, and more. All of them were popular in Japan in the '90s.
  • The Dreaded: In her in-game training story, only five including her participate in the Spring Stakes. Because others don't dare compete with her. She is shocked by the event.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Especially, in the Umayon.
    • An in-game loading screen implies it too.
Special Week: I'm so glad to ride in Senpai's car!
Maruzensky: Buckle up, or you may be ejected.
    Special Week: What?
    • In Grass Wonder's in-game training story, she can be a victim of Maruzensky's driving.
Grass Wonder: Did you see the red supercar in the parking lot? If Maruzen-san proposes you go for a drive together, and you get in the car with a light heart, you might experience it flying. Fufufu...
  • Foreign Exchange Student: She's British, and came to Tracen from abroad.
  • Image Song: "Burning Heart"
  • Informed Attractiveness: Special Week sees Maruzensky and is dumbstruck: "how beautiful!" (Made somewhat hilarious by the fact that the real Maruzensky was the grandfather of the real Special Week).
  • Lady in Red: She's an extremely beautiful girl, and wears all an all-red formal racing outfit.
  • Ojou: She hails from a famous family, and is very lady-like.
  • Red Baron: "Super Car" and "Moster".
  • Speaking Like Totally Teen: One of the Running Gags in the series is that Maruzensky tries to talk like one of the cool kids... and fails spectacularly because she's using slang that was current in the Nineties... or Eighties... or Seventies.

     Hana Toujou
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tojohana_fixw_640_hq.jpg
Voiced by: Megumi Toyoguchi

  • Cooldown Hug: She gives one to Grass Wonder, when the girl breaks down crying.
  • Foe Romance Subtext: She treats her coworker with annoyance most of the time, but seems to harbor feelings for him.
  • Friendly Enemy: She is the coach of the rival team, but treats Team Spica kindly.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: She hides her true kindness beneath a harsh, professional exterior. But she knows when to push people, and when to ease up on them and offer a shoulder to cry on.
  • Lady in a Power Suit: She wears a sharp, stylish power suit to match her serious personality.
  • Stoic Spectacles: Wears glasses and is generally cool and no-nonsense.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She tends to come across as very strict and cold, but demonstrates moments of warmth and kindness.
  • Technician Versus Performer: She employs a very strict, precise training method for her team in comparison to Team Spica's casual approach.
