- Energy Ball: Her charge attack.
- Flying Broomstick: Uses one when she's not Sprites.
- Genki Girl: She's very energetic.
- Jack of All Stats: Fitting for a protagonist. Her stats are an even spread, making her easy to pick up and play.
- Kid Hero: She's 10 years old.
- Magical Girl: Sprites.
- Mini-Boss: A giant Rabbicat.
- Plot-Relevant Age-Up: When she becomes Sprites, she is five years older.
- Power Gives You Wings: Gains wings as part of her transformation.

Yan Yangyang
A wild and immature girl of the forest. She controls giant pigbirds.
- The Beastmaster: Controls pigbirds.
- Blow You Away: Some of her attacks.
- Difficult, but Awesome: She has terrible stats, with very slow shot and movement speeds, though she can be really effective because of her fast charge speed, decent boss fight, and great EX attack.
- Insistent Terminology: It's NOT a pig!
- Snot Bubble: One of the attacks of her miniboss.
- Tomboyish Ponytail: A very tall one.
- Wild Child: Raised in nature and controls pigbirds.
Really Till
- The Beastmaster: Controls dragons.
- Dreadful Musician: Her singing is so bad, not even the Twinkle Star can fix it.
- Leitmotif: Holidays.
- Mini-Boss: A giant Drappy.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Drappy is an absolutely adorable fat dragon.
- The Rival: Claims to be one to Load Ran. Apparently, it's because of a tradition of wars between the Dragon and Fairy kingdoms.
- Playing with Fire: She is a dragon tamer after all.
- Strong, but Unskilled: Unlike Yan, she has good stats, but mediocre EX and boss attacks.
Nanja Monja
A race of some sort of...things. Not much is known about them.
- Cartoon Creature: Some sort of insectoid...fuzzball...thing.
- Leitmotif: Disagreeable.
- Meaningful Name: "Nanja Monja" is a pun on the Japanese phrase for "What the hell is that"?
- Mini-Boss: A giant King Nanja Monja.
- Mighty Glacier: They are quite slow, but have a very fast shot speed and great EX attacks.
- Painfully Slow Projectile: The EX attack is a big, blue Nanja Monja that bounces downward slowly. On paper, it sounds easy to avoid, but in practice, you're essentially dealing with a wall that blocks your shots and will hurt you if you run into them.
- Pokémon Speak: All they say is their name.
- Shock and Awe: They can apparently manipulate electricity.
Kim

- The Mentor: Rabbicat looks up to him as one.
- Mini-Boss: A giant mecha cat.

- Really 700 Years Old: He's 65,536 years old. He wishes to look 300 years younger. The Twinkle Star grants his wish, and he looks exactly the same.
Arthur Schmitt
- Badass Normal: He's the only character with no magical powers. He built his own rockets, and is still able to fight along with the rest of the cast.
- Casanova Wannabe: Tries to woo Ran over and over, but she's clearly not interested.
- Chick Magnet: He's a ladies' man, but is only interested in Load Ran.
- Energy Weapon: His charge shot, and one of his mini-boss' attacks.
- Fragile Speedster: He's the fastest character in the game, which makes it quite easy to crash into the enemies. His slow shot speed doesn't help either.
- Gadgeteer Genius: He built all of his rockets by himself.
- Mini-Boss: A large ship.
- Leitmotif: Love Me.
Tinker and Linker
- Combination Attack: Linker comes in when Tinker uses their bomb.
- Expy: A painfully obvious one of Tinker Bell, right down to the dress design.
- Identical Twin ID Tag: Their ponytails are on opposite sides. When looking from the back, Tinker's is to the right, and Linker's is to the left.
- Jack of All Stats: They have solid stats and attacks all around.
- Mini-Boss: The Magical Fairy, a giant fairy with a sword.
- Leitmotif: Love So 'Radio Active Mix'.

- Leitmotif: Both You and Me.
- Mighty Glacier: They have great EX attacks and a fast shot, but the move rather slow.
- Mini-Boss: A giant teddy bear.
- Meido: Dressed up like this in the mobile game spinoff.
- Punny Name: Pentell sounds like pencil. Pentel also happens to be a manufacturer of pens.
- Shrinking Violet: Pentell. She lets Macky do all the talking.
- Stuff Blowing Up: They use exploding dolls in battle.
- Unusual Ears: Macky has cat ears, Pentell has rabbit ears.
Mevious Bodyguards
- Assist Character: Burn and Evin show up in Griffon's bomb..
- Blow You Away: All of their attacks are wind-based.
- Leitmotif: Like Sisters Like.
- Master of None: They have an OK boss attack, but also have very weak shot, mediocre EX attacks and speed, and a charge shot that leaves them exposed to enemies and attacks.
- Mini-Boss: A giant griffon that can summon swords.
- Tagalong Kid: Evin.
Meirin
A teacher who loves her students, and her pet panda Principal who tricks her for his own wants. She only appears in the Saturn port.

- Nice Girl: Meirin is a pure and kind girl, unlike Principal.
- Version-Exclusive Content: Only appears in the Sega Saturn version. She doesn't even appear in the ports released afterwards.
Dark Ran
An evil clone of Ran created by Mevious to steal the Twinkle Star. She's the third-to-last boss in the game.
- The Dragon: To Mevious. She even stays with him when he has to serve his 100 years of community service.
- Evil Counterpart: Obviously.
- Evil Sounds Deep: She has a deeper voice than Load Ran.
- It's All About Me: Very selfish and egotistic, unlike Load Ran. Her ending wish is to name the game after herself.
- Jerkass: The complete opposite of Load Ran.
- Leitmotif: Rosselian.
- Mini-Boss: A giant Dark Rabbicat.
- Moveset Clone: Besides the aesthetics, she plays exactly the same as Load Ran.
Mevious
- Animal Motifs: Bats.
- Badass Cape: He wears one.
- Big Bad: The main antagonist.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Comments on how many continues the player used.
- Butt-Monkey: He's always complaining about his back pain, is easily defeated by Sprites, is sentenced to 100 hours of community service, and is even struck by lightning in Meirin's ending.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: Wears a dress and has long flowing hair, but he's a male.
- Evil Sounds Deep: Has a very deep and masculine voice, despite his appearances.
- Laughably Evil: When you decide you would rather wish to remove your back pain than Take Over the World like you originally planned, you know you are this.

- Pimped-Out Dress: He wears one.
- Take Over the World: His plan is to take over the world by stealing the Twinkle Star and brainwashing Queen Memory.
Queen Memory
- Beat the Curse Out of Him: The final battle with Sprites involves this.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: She's brainwashed by Mevious so he can execute his Evil Plan.
- Big Eater: One of her defining characteristics. Just for reference, in a single meal, she eats: ice cream, chocolate, tiramisu, a hamburger, sushi, tacos, pizza, cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, pudding a la mode, butter cookies, melons, caramel, hot dogs, potato chips, fried chicken, spaghetti, omelettes, a 22 ounce steak, salad, a parfait, fried rice, sandwiches, french fries, noodles, escargot, and sherbet.
- Her ending in the Saturn is slightly changed so that her voice-acted recitation of The Long List of foods she wants to wish for engages in a Fast-Forward Gag for further exaggeration, and even then it lasts 33 seconds.
- Big Good: The benevolent queen of the fairy kingdom.
- Edible Ammunition: Her EX attacks are various food items.
- Final Boss: Of the first game.
- Good Parents: She's a loving mother to Ran.
- Hat of Power: A fancy helmet, that is actually a mind-control device.
- Lightning Bruiser: Just like Mevious, though she exchanges some power for more speed.
- Leitmotif: Love Will Never Die.
- Mini-Boss: A giant cake with the ADK logo. An AD-Cake!
- SNK Boss: This is an SNK game, after all. She's a prime example of The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard. She is able to dodge everything you throw at her, can easily make chains to cancel out your boss attacks, and constantly spams her annoying EX attacks.
The Twinkle Star
A magical star creature that has the power to grant any wish.
- American Accents: He inexplicably speaks with a southern accent for some reason.
- Exact Words: In Sprites' ending, she wishes to see herself as Sprites forever. Instead of permanently transforming her, he just draws a picture for her instead.

- Make a Wish: He can grant a wish to anyone.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: He is pretty adorable.
