General
Kiri as a whole
- Ascended Extra: Similarly to Iwa, it is not as much of a Hufflepuff House as in canon.
- Bubblegloop Swamp: The "Swamp of the Underworld", the location around the Nidaime Mizukage's former manor, where Kiri holds its Chunin Exams (similarly to Konoha's "Forest of Death".)
- Civil War: It starts the story going through one, between the "Blood Mist" under the Yondaime Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi, and the Rebels lead by Mei Terumi.
- Irony: As later mentioned by Anko, the Shodai Mizukage, the man who founded the Shinobi Village in the Land of Water and most associated with Water-Ninjutsu, was himself a fire-user.
- My Master, Right or Wrong: A sentiment echoed by people on both sides of the war. As Yagura's flashbacks show, it was pushed by the Sandaime Mizukage prior to the war.
The Kiri-Rebles
Mei Terumi
Mei Terumi
The leader of the Kiri-Rebels, who seek to topple the Yondaime Mizukage's regime. She becomes Godaime Mizukage after the War.- Adaptational Early Appearance: The Kiri-Civil-War Arc is the last proper Arc of Part I, leading her to be this.
- Adaptation Expansion: The fic focus more on her personal past than the canon ever does, showing her time as a Kiri-Nin alongside Yagura and Kisame.
- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
- While their canon relationship is unknown, in this fic she used to be teammates with Yagura and Kisame, even having been romantically involved with the former.
- Zabuza and Haku are among her forces, the latter extending his Hero Worship of the former towards Mei herself.
- Her fighters also include Suigetsu and Jinin Akebino.
- Always Save the Girl: Genderflipped. Her aim during the Invasion of Kiri is specifically to break Tobi/Madara's hold over Yagura.
- Ascended Extra: Gets much more focus than in canon.
- Big Good: Fittingly, of the Kirigakure Civil-War arc.
- Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: One of the many facetts of her relationship with Yagura after he is freed from Tobi's mind control.
- Childhood Friend Romance: With Yagura prior to the War, and also afterwards.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Her final confrontation against Yagura. It doesn't work on its own, sadly.
- Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: With Yagura, albeit it is never remarked on.
- Universally Beloved Leader: The rebels basically worship the ground she walks on.
- Uptight Loves Wild: Downplayed with Yagura, who is more reserved than she is.
Zabuza Momochi
Zabuza Momochi
The "Demon of the hidden Mist", wielder of the Kubikiribōchō and one of the three Swordsmen loyal to Mei. After the war, he becomes captain of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, and thus Anko‘s superior.- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
- He fights for Mei in the Civil War, later becoming Captain of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.
- He fights alongside Anko during the invasion, and possibly sleeps with her after the victory celebrations. He also becomes her captain due to her receveing the Shibuki.
- Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: To Anko, who is distraught after the death of Tsunemasa during the Kumo-Invasion.
Zabuza: I needed you to shut up so you can actually think about the situation before you get lost in your delusional self-pity! You are not responsible for what happened.
- Ship Tease: With Anko. Besides their Did They or Didn't They? after the Kiri Civil War, she also gives him a You Are Better Than You Think You Are-talk during their hunt for Raiga.
- Spared By Adaptation: Alongside Haku. Their fight against Team Seven still happens, but they manage to reatreat instead of being killed and later join the Kiri-Rebels.
- Throwing Your Sword Always Works: Played With. While he misses Jinpachi with his throw, Anko uses her snakes to snatch it back, thus killing Jinpachi.
Haku Yuki
Haku Yuki

He later leads the desasterous mission to save captured bloodline-users from execution, before fighting in the invasion.- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
- Himself a victim of violence against bloodline-users, he supports Mei's fight against the Mizukage with as much zeal as he fought for Zabuza.
- He becomes Fire-Forged Friends with Shikamaru.
- He also has a crush on Kiri, whom he never meets in canon.
- Adaptational Sexuality: While never specified in canon, Haku is gay in this fic, leading to some Gayngst over his crush on "Kiri-kun" and it possible falling to him to continue his bloodline.
- Combination Attack: He combines his Ice-Release with Honoka's Adamantine Sealing Chains to get Karitoriki off of his vulture-summon.
- Heroic BSoD: After the failed mission to save the captured bloodline-users, among them a fellow Yuki, he has a breakdown.
Haku: I've led group missions before! I've done tracking jobs, I've gone undercover, have done assassinations, and I've done some incredibly dirty things whenever Zabuza-sama and I would receive a client when we were missing ninja. I've done so many things that I should have been prepared for anything. So how did I mess that mission up that badly?
- Related in the Adaptation: Kayhō, Hakuhyō, and Rahyō are fellow members of the Yuki clan, and later join him Kiri.
- Spared By Adaptation: He and Zabuza do fight Team 7 during their mission to Nami no Kuni, but survive after retreating, and later link up with the Kiri-Rebels.

- He befriends Hinata and tutors her in Water-ninjutsu.
- Mentor Occupational Hazard: He dies defending Hinata during her duel with Unmo.

Chōjūrō
Chōjūrō
Wielder of the Hiramekarei, and one of the three Swordsmen of the Mist loyal to Mei.- Demoted to Extra: While a at least somewhat prominent side-character in canon, he is merely a background character during the Kiri-civil-war-arc. For example, he never has an "on-screen" fight.

Doku Sugita

Kiri Sugita
Kiri Sugita
A Kiri Medic-nin and a member of Haku's team, on whom the latter has a crush on.- Adaptational Name Change: He is just "Kiri" in-canon, whereas here he is a member of the non-canon Sugita-clan.
- Love Interest: Possibly to Haku.
The Kiri-Loyalists
Yagura Karatachi
Yagura Karatachi/"Kamui"
The Yondaime Mizukage, leader of Kirigakure, jinchūriki of the Sanbi, Isobu. His brutal reign of his Village became known as the Blood Mist, with increased brutality and a Witch Hunt against bloodline users. As per canon, he does this under the influence of Tobi/Madara. Naruto manages to break the mind-control during the Invasion of Kiri. After the war he serves Mei under the alias of an ANBU named "Kamui".- Adaptation Expansion: The fic shows some of his backstory: How the Sandaime Mizukage only treated him like a weapon, how his parents kicked him out after being made a jinchūriki, how the village shunned him and how Mei was his first real friend.

- Broken Ace: He already was a perfect jinchūriki during the war, but actually couldn't access his powers after the war.Naruto: I mean, aren't you a 'perfect jinchūriki' already?
Yagura: "Yagura" was. "Kamui" isn't. - Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: One of the many facettes of his relationship with Mei.
- Childhood Friend Romance: With Mei prior to the War, and also afterwards.
- Death Faked for You: After his defeat and liberation from Tobi's control, he still is pronunced dead in order to not destabilize Mei's reign as Mizukage. He instead assumes the alias of "Kamui", an Anbu who was The Mole for the resistance.
- Death Seeker: As revealed during the Shimagame-arc, he harbored strong suicidal thoughts after beeing freed of Tobi's mind control.
- Embarrassing Nickname: His bullies used to call him "Little Turtle", something that Mei picked up as a term of endearment.

- Older Than He Looks: He is actually a bit bothered by his boyish looks, which is why he chooses a more mature appearance for his "Kamui"-Persona.
- Precision F-Strike: He dislikes swearing, so him dropping an f-bomb during their fight reinforces Mei's belief that he is not himself. Although he swears again during his one-on-one fight against Kisame in the Kumo-Invasion-Arc.
- Religious Bruiser: Mei describes him as very spiritual, albeit he later tells Pain that the "Gods can go to hell".
- The Reveal: Kisame drops the bomb that he is Yagura on the other jinchūriki (sans Naruto and Killerbee) during their fight in the Kumo-Invasion.

- Half the Man He Used to Be: Anko bisects Jinpachi with the Kubikiribōchō.
- Mad Bomber: Jinpachi seems to be too much into blowing stuff up with the Shibuki.
- Off with His Head!: Zabuza kills Kushimaru by decapitation.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Jinpachi is more aggressive and hot-headed than the more methodical and collected Kushimaru.
Karitoriki

- Bald of Evil: He is utterly despicable, and also hairless.
- Blow You Away: He uses wind-style.

- Only One Name: Misora explicitly states that she has no surname.
- Original Character
Unmo Samidare
Unmo Samidare
A loyalist Kiri-nin with a hatred of Konoha that fights against Hinata during the invasion, whom he loses to.- Dies Differently in Adaptation: In canon, he was Killed Offscreen by Sai. Here he is defeated by Hinata after a long and ardous duel.
- Making a Splash: He uses Water-style ninjutsu.
- Mythology Gag: He seems to know about some of Konoha's darker aspects, foreshadowing the ROOT-arc. Geven that he was assissinated by them in canon, it was probably for finding out about them.
- Wrong Genre Savvy: He just assumes every Konoha-nin to be a Fire-style-user a la Avatar: The Last Airbender, so he creates a lot of water during his duel with Hinata, which backfires onto him when she turns out to also be a water-style-user. It actually could have backfired even harder when you consider that most Hyūga have an Earth-affinity, the element that beats water in Naruto's Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors.
Other Kiri-Nin
Utakata
Utakata
The jinchūriki of the Rokubi, Saiken. Originally from Kirigakure, he left his village, eventually taking on Hotaru as a student. - Mistaken for Betrayal: He left Kiri after his Sensei tried to extract the Rokubi from him, causing him to rampage and losing his faith in Kiri. However, as Saiken later reveals, he actually had good intentions, wanting to give him a better live as a non-jinchūriki.
- Mythology Gag: When Naruto names his Flight-technique after his own, Utakata jokingly asks if he was trained by the Copy Ninja instead of Anko.
- Refusal of the Call: His "inner darkness" represents his fear of taking on responsibility.
- Student/Teacher Romance: Eventually with Hotaru.
- Super Mode: He eventually masters the Chakra-cloak.
