Go To

Here are the character sheets for the characters original to Touhou LostWord (or rather, the versions of characters). This list only contains the characters who have been released on the global version of the game, ordered by the time they were released (and their universe classifications). Unless it is explicitly mentioned otherwise, the units on this page are Ultra Festival Units.

While the L1 characters have some differences from their mainline Touhou Project counterparts, they're for the most too similar to warrant their own sections on this page. Go here to look up the tropes for for the canon Touhou characters.

Code B3 - You of the End

     The Lunar War Enchanter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mecharisa_6.png
"This gear was entrusted to me by the magicians of the forest— You won't believe how powerful it is! Now, let's get to it!"

Universe Classification: B3

Another alternative version of Marisa Kirisame. This one is seen in the Hifuu Lost Word story line, You of the End. In this Marisa's world, Magic itself was sealed away due to being that world's Lost Word, and with their powers gone and most youkai dead, the remaining survivors, Marisa included, fight a desperate war against the Lunarians, the only beings to retain their power, using reverse-engineered technology.

This Marisa lacks her signature ability to use magic, but instead she's armed to the teeth with technological weapons that help her replicate, if not surpass, her usual abilities.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Her equipment tends to take parts from characters Marisa is associated with. Most notably, her armor and weapons typically take their designs from the other dwellers of the Forest of Magic, with Alice and Narumi being name-dropped outright- her technology is essentially mechanically replicating both her magic and theirs. It's also noted that she's borrowed designs from her other Subterranean Animism partners, Nitori and Patchouli. This is also likely where her attack drones come from.
  • Attack Drone: She operates these as a part of her Last Word, Remote Master Sparks.
  • BFG: Oh yeah. That big cannon she's carrying? It's essentially a multi-purpose launcher powered by her Mini-Hakkero. Essentially, what it does is activate the Hakkero artificially and uses its power to launch either missiles or lasers.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In the Hifuu Lost Word stages on a first time playthrough of normal difficulty. She appears in acts 2 and 5. In Act 2, she fights alongside the other five Lunar War units, and in Act 5, she fights alongside just the Lunar War Shaman.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She, alongside the Lunar War Shaman (Reimu) are the last of your allies in the Hifuu Lost Word story to sacrifice themselves.
  • Leitmotif: Sparking Slash, another remix of Love-Coloured Master Spark.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Her spell card Love Sign: Machine Gun Spark is this, firing off a barrage of missiles and star bullets.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Love Sign: Wide Master is this Marisa's answer to the Master Spark (based off of a spell card canonically seen in Impossible Spell Card, no less).

     The Lunar War Shaman
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210302_300101____fix_2_1_2.png
"I can fight effectively even within the extreme environment of the moon's surface, thanks to this outfit a certain youkai prepared for me. I told her she shouldn't have bothered, but I changed my mind once I tried it out. I've treasured it ever since."

Universe Classification: B3

Another alternative version of Reimu Hakurei. Hailing from the same world as the other Lunar War characters, she's another of the survivors that fights a desperate war for survival against the Lunarians using reverse-engineered lunar technology to make up for their lost abilities.

This Reimu in particular wields an automatic rifle named "Ran" and a handgun named "Chen", with her outfit being designed for her by a certain youkai (Given the names of her ofuda-shooting guns, it's more likely than not her world's version of Yukari who made this equipment for her).

  • Abnormal Ammo: Most guns fire bullets, missiles or lasers. This Reimu's fires talismans instead.
  • Achilles' Heel: Since she has no innate accuracy buffs, she'll need support, be it via equipping her with Accuracy-boosting Story Cards or pairing her with an Accuracy Up/Evasion Down/Paralyze Barrier granting/inflicting unit to fight more evasive foes.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Many of her outfit's functions are taken from characters that Reimu has been associated with, notably thrusters to grant her bursts of speed and the ability to fly, based on Aya, miniature power packs dispersed throughout the outfit, based on Suika, and a system that replicates a limited form of sage powers based on Kasen, used to bring her physical abilities up to her former standard, as well as self-repairing functions based on her own Yin-Yang Orbs, all regulated by shikigami possessing it, provided by Yukari.
  • Equippable Ally: It's noted that Reimu's outfit and weapons are made from Yukari's shikigami. Various low-level ones manage the functions in her outfit, while her guns, "Ran" and "Chen", are likely possessed by their namesakes, or at least replicas of them.
  • Firing One-Handed: In spite of looking like an assault rifle, this Reimu is fully capable of wielding her Automatic Ofuda Rifle, "Ran" in this manner, as demonstrated in Charm: Fantastic High-Speed Prayer Talismans.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In the Hifuu Lost Word stages on a first time playthrough of normal mode, she appears as a guest party member in Acts 2 and 5. In Act 2, she fights alongside the other five Lunar War units, and in Act 5, she fights alongside just the Lunar War Enchanter.
  • Guns Akimbo: Her Last Word, Hakurei Talisman- Fantasy Nature, is this, wielding both "Ran" and "Chen" to rapidfire talismans, based on her baseline self's Last Word.
  • Handguns: Her Large-Caliber Ofuda Handgun, "Chen". She uses it in Charm: Anti-Youkai Houi-Yoke Prayer.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Just like Enchanter (Marisa), she's one of the last two to sacrifice themselves to buy time for you to find the Lost Word in the Hifuu Lost Word Scenario.
  • Leitmotif: Special Power of Exposing Moonlit Nights? [Karaoke Version] , another remix of Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Her only real issue aside from lack of innate Accuracy Up is that her attacks are rather backloaded, meaning she needs to take a turn or two to set up before unloading. With that being said, her skills and attacks do this wonderfully, especially considering her spell cards all have scaling. Her first spell card, Charm: Fantastic High-Speed Prayer Talismans, has the 'slicing' tag, meaning it scales with her agility, her second spell card, Charm: Anti-Youkai Houi-Yoke Prayer, has the 'hard' tag, meaning it scales with her defense, and her Last Word, Hakurei Talisman: Fantasy Nature, has both Hard and Slicing scaling, meaning it scales to both her Defense and Agility. She definitely leans more towards the "Bruiser" side, though- her defenses are top of the line, even compared to other powerful tanks such as Yukari or the baseline Reimu, helped by regenerating 20% of her maximum HP every turn and having a 50% chance to gain a barrier back every turn. She can also perform a massive burst of healing with her False Barrier/Hope skill, which heals for 70% of her maximum HP, while her False Barrier/Hakurei skill gives her 3 levels in both of her defenses (which helps towards the Hard scaling on Anti-Youkai Houi-Yoke Prayer and her Last Word- the former ALSO gives 3 levels in both defenses). Lastly, like the other Lunar War units, she has no elemental weaknesses, meaning the only way she will ever suffer a full break is if she gets hit with an attack that breaks barrier abnormalities.

     The Lunar War Gardener
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210405_301101____fix_1_1.png
"I can defeat almost anyone as long as I have my Hakurouken and Roukanken with their beams of light!"

Universe Classification: B3

Another alternative version of Youmu Konpaku. Hailing from the same world as the other Lunar War units, she fights alongside them in a desperate struggle for survival against an attacking Lunarian force. Due to magic being sealed away, she fights using reverse-engineered lunar technology.

While she was arguably hit the hardest of the Lunar War units by the incident, essentially requring special equipment to keep her phantom half around and her swords lost their magic, she's no less skilled with the blade- and arguably even more dangerous since her new weapons, the Beam Roukanken and Beam Hakurouken, are essentially lightsabers.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Her equipment takes things from various other characters known to be undead, primarily focusing on the Taoists and Netherworld Dwellers. Amongst other things, her Beam Roukanken and Beam Hakurouken gain their power from the abilities of Futo and Tojiko, and her headset (the design of which is based on Miko's earmuffs) runs interference or support by playing music based on the Prismriver Sisters. This is actually where her Skills come from. play:melancholic is based on Lunasa, play:manic is based on Merlin, and play:illusionary is based on Lyrica. These are all controlled by a network device based on Yuyuko's lingering attachments as a ghost, bound under a sub-network based on the roots of the Saigyou Ayakashi.
  • Blade Spam: Her second spell card, Reincarnation Sword: Slash of Circular Vicissitude, is this.
  • Dual Wielding: Her Last Word, Spirit Power Dual Wave Cut, essentially has her do this with her Laser Blades.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In the Hifuu Lost Word scenario on a first time playthrough of normal difficulty, she appears in Acts 2 and 4. In Act 2, she fights alongside the other five Lunar War units, and in Act 4, she fights alongside just the Lunar War Soldier.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She's part of the second Lunar War group that sacrifices themselves to buy you time, in this case alongside the Lunar War Soldier (Reisen) in the Hifuu Lost Word scenario.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: Her first spell card, Sword Skill: Cherry Blossom Flashing, has her perform a dashing slash while unsheathing her Beam Roukanken.
  • Laser Blade: Oh yeah. In case how she looks didn't give it away This Youmu's Roukanken and Hakurouken are essentially lightsabers.
  • Leitmotif: Twilight Temple Dream, a remix of Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Like the Lunar War Shaman, she has high agility and high defense to go with the fact that her Last Word, Spirit Power Dual Wave Cut, has both Hard and Slicing scaling, though unlike Shaman, she leans more towards the 'Lightning' side than 'Bruiser' side, having extremely high agility and offenses. If that wasn't enough, she also naturally generates additional Spirit Power every turn, meaning she ramps up incredibly quickly. With that being said, while her defenses are her worst stats, they're by no means bad, and her spell cards even buff her defenses to take advantage of their Hard scaling.

     The Lunar War Oracle
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210414_303701____fix_processed.png
"Most of my powers have been sealed away, but now that I have this gear equipped with the ritual framework, I'll lead us all into a bright future!"

Universe Classification: B3

An alternative version of Sanae Kochiya. She hails from the same world as the other Lunar War units, fighting alongside her fellow Gensokyo survivors in a desperate battle for survival against an encroaching Lunarian threat, using advanced technology to make up for their lost powers.

Sanae's new gear is to make up for the fact that when magic was lost to the world, Sanae lost basically all of her power and returned to being an ordinary human, but she's arguably stronger for it, considering the ritual framework built into her gear provides her with the faith she needs to perform rituals, and to such an extent that even miracles that would ordinarily take a prolonged ritual can be performed quickly.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Sanae was always a practitioner of this, and her gear as the Lunar War Oracle is no exception. Her equipment, save for one of her cannons which is based on her own purification rod, is entirely based on the abilities of Kanako and Suwako.
  • Critical Hit Class: She's an absolute master at firing off CRIT Evasion and CRIT DEF Down debuffs. Literally all of her spell cards do it to varying degrees: Esoterica: Forgotten Ritual hits all foes with two levels of CRIT DEF down for 3 turns, with the main target taking an additional level of CRIT DEF Down. Miracle: Night with Overly Bright Stars is the same, except for CRIT Evasion down. Finally, her Last Word, Divine Full Armor Purge, inflicts 3 levels of CRIT DEF down and CRIT Evasion down. Her passive also increases the party's CRIT Evasion when she uses Spirit Power to boost, and CRIT Accuracy when she uses Barriers to graze, her first Skill, Ritual Framework, drops another two levels of CRIT DEF down and CRIT Evasion down on the entire enemy party, and lastly, even her Shots play into this: Iron Ring Laser, her Spread Shot, can drop the target's CRIT Evasion, and Divine Pillar Cannon, her Focus Shot, can drop the target's CRIT Def.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: On a first time playthrough of the Hifuu Lost Word scenario's Normal difficulty, she's a guest character, fighting alongside the other Lunar War units in Act 2 and with only the Lunar War Servant in Act 3.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She and the Lunar War Servant (Sakuya) are the first of the characters to sacrifice themselves to buy the player time to decipher the Lost Word.
  • Healing Hands: Even more than buffing crits, THIS is her specialty for sure. Two of her skills heal the entire party for substantial amounts of HP. Her second skill, Frog Supply Unit, heals the entire party for 40% of their maximum HP, and Snake Switch Unit heals them for 70% of their maximum HP.
  • Leitmotif: Judgement Star, a remix of Faith is for the Transient People.
  • Shed Armor, Gain Speed: This is essentially the logic behind this Sanae's Last Word, Divine Full Armor Purge.

     The Lunar War Servant
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210305_300501____fix_1.png
"I do not need any reason to fight. Even now, I'm still a maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion."

Universe Classification: B3

Another alternative version of Sakuya Izayoi. Hailing from the same universe as the other Lunar War units, she fights a desperate battle for survival against an incoming Lunarian threat.

Having lost her ability to manipulate time, Sakuya was left as just an ordinary human, but has acquired new equipment to make up for this, meaning she's no less deadly a foe in battle.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Like the other Lunar War Units, her equipment grants her abilities based on other residents of Gensokyo- in this case, her equipment's abilities are almost exclusively taken from the other residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. More specifically, her knives (dubbed 'Cold Knives') are kept at a low temperature through the principles used in ice magic (from Patchouli), an artificial Qigong system based on Meiling's ability to bring her physical abilities on par with what they used to be, various support modules based on the SDM's lesser residents, most notably the hobgoblins, fairy maids, and Tupai (Remilia's pet chupacabra), and lastly, a pair of support units that orbit near Sakuya's head- one has a limited form of precognition, based on Remilia's ability to manipulate fate, and one works to identify a target's weaknesses, based on Flandre's ability to destroy everything.
  • An Ice Person: Her knives are imbued with the principles behind ice magic, and this affords her the ability to inflict Delay with her Spread Shot, Stun with her Focus Shot, or Freeze the enemy's barriers with her Spell Cards (This makes her an excellent partner for Cirno, who can break Frozen barriers).
  • Blade Spam: Her Last Word, Cosmopolitan Museum, combines a short barrage of throwing knives with this. There's also Scarred Soul: Soul Sculpture, which performs a barrage of slashes with such ferocity it creates long-range shockwaves.
  • Flechette Storm: Once again, this is Sakuya Izayoi we're talking about, so it's a given. The big one here though is Lightspeed: C. Ricochet, where she throws waves of knives that bounce around at extreme speed.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: On a first time playthrough of the normal difficulty of the Hifuu Lost Word Scenario, You of the End, she appears as a guest character alongside the other Lunar War units in Chapter 2, and alongside only the Lunar War Oracle in Chapter 3.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She and the Lunar War Oracle (Sanae) are the first of the characters to sacrifice themselves for the sake of buying the player time to decipher the Lost Word.
  • Leitmotif: Blue Knife, a remix of Flowering Night.

Guardian of the Peace Temple of Modesty and Devotion (Code: Kannagi)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/201701.png
"I have come to answer the call of the divine spirits... Wait, is this Gensokyo?!"

Universe Classification: B3

An alternative version of Watatsuki no Yorihime. Hailing from the EX Scenario of Code B3, she hails from a Lunar Capital that is hounded by effigies of the residents of Gensokyo called Kaiju, and in desperation, she and her comrades summoned a divine spirit through whom the player observes the events of the storyline. She's also known as Kannagi.

  • Code Name: In the same vein as the Lunar War cyborgs, the four warriors of the Lunar Capital has codenames. Hers is "Kannagi".
  • Dual Wielding and Guns Akimbo: In her Last Word, Kannagi - Warrior Shrine Maiden, she dual wields her gunblades.
  • Leitmotif: Filling Lack of the Moon, a remix of Watatsuki's Spell Card ~ Lunatic Blue, which she shares with her sister.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: This Yorihime's swords are gunblades.
  • Playing with Fire: Her first spell card, Divine Spirit: Hono-Ikazuchi, has primarily Fire breaks, and after the lightning from the sky hits the ground, it erupts into flames- much like how it was in canon when Yorihime used it against Sakuya.
  • Shock and Awe: Her first spell card, Divine Spirit: Hono-Ikazuchi, summons lightning from the sky.

     The Lunar War Soldier
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/301501.png
"It seems you're the one who called for me... that makes you my superior officer until until I return home. I'm looking forward to working with you. ...Huh? That's way too formal?"

Universe Classification: B3

An alternative version of Reisen Udongein Inaba. The Lunar War combatant with the most military experience owing to her training on the Lunar Capital, she and the other combatants fight a desperate battle for survival against an encroaching Lunarian threat, using technology to make up for their lost powers.

Reisen was arguably the least affected of the combantants, since her abilities that she lost were made up for by her equipment, designed for her by the other residents of Eientei.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Her equipment is largely derived from the abilities of Kaguya and Eirin, as well as their heritage from the moon- and is highly experimental, using biotechnology instead of cybernetics. Her gun is noted to be able to switch between different Lunatic Gun models, she has prosthetic eyes use sensors based on the rovers on the moon, and a neural network that temporarily bestows her with intellect on par with Eirin's.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In a first-time run through of Code B3: You of the End, she appears in Chapters 1 and 4. In Chapter 1, she fights alongside all the other Lunar War units, and in Chapter 4, she fights only alongside the Lunar War Gardener.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She, along with Gardener (Youmu) are the second pair of characters to sacrifice themselves to buy time for the player to decipher the Lost Word.
  • Leitmotif: Stop at the Affected Part and Melt Quickly ~ Madness Udongein [Karaoke Ver.] (Otherwise known as Overdrive), a remix of Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon.
  • More Dakka: Soldier's Last Word, Moon Salvo (Lunatic Full Burst Mode), has her perform this, changing her Lunatic Gun and follow-up unit into twin gatling guns and shoulder-mountained rocket launchers, respectively. Her description and pre-spell card dialogue show she fires every last bullet she has:
Reisen (Soldier): All weapons are go! Fire all bullets! Save no ammo for later!

Guardian of the Plentiful Temple of Wealth and Equality (Code: Otohime)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210630_201601.png
"Is this the Earth?! Did my ability...? No, that can't be right."

Universe Classification: B3

An alternative version of Watatsuki no Toyohime. Hailing from the EX Scenario of Code B3, she fights alongside her sister and a couple of other Lunarian survivors in a desperate battle against Kaiju, effigies of residents of Gensokyo. She's also known as Otohime.

  • Big Eater: Oh yeah. It's even her manner of attack in her first spell card, Dragon Palace: Otohime Banquet.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Her staff is a gumball machine.
  • Leitmotif: Filling Lack of the Moon, a remix of Watatsuki's Spell Card ~ Lunatic Blue, which is shared with her sister.
  • Mythology Gag: Her second spell card, Dragon Palace: Tamate Box, is a reference to Mizue no Uranoshimako, otherwise known as Urashima Tarou, an earthling who was spirited away to the Dragon Palace (actually the Lunar Capital), and is more specifically based on the bento box given to him by Otohime (Remember that this Toyohime's codename is Otohime) which, when opened, aged him to his death instantly. In Touhou lore, the Watatsukis were the ones who looked after Urashima, and Toyohime in particular gave him the cursed bento box.

     The Nameless Space Terror
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smoljunko.png
"...No, hold on. I might be a liiiiittle bit smaller than the Junko you're familiar with, but I'm exactly the same on the inside. So don't call me cute!"

Universe Classification: B2

An alternative version of Junko. The mastermind behind the Kaiju incident that plagues the Lunar Capital in the EX Scenario of Code B3, who terrorized the Lunar Capital for an as of yet unknown goal.

In spite of her reduced height compared to the original, her grudge and hatred burn as bright as ever. She works together with an alternate version of Reisen with blonde hair, and eventually recruits the divine spirit the player possesses to her side.

  • Berserk Button: She takes offense to being called cute due to her smaller size.
  • Fun Size: Like the Tiny Ghost Mistress, the Nameless Space Terror is positively tiny compared to her mainline self.
  • Height Angst: Her small height is a sore spot for her. Not only does she dislike being called cute, but according to a couple home screen quotes, she also has a hard time helping Reisen (B5) remove her helmet or giving her an Affectionate Gesture to the Head because of her short height.
  • Leitmotif: Pure Furies [ALR ReMIX], a remix of Pure Furies ~ Whereabouts of the Heart.
  • Literal-Minded: One home screen quote has her interpret Eirin's epithet "Brain of the Moon" as being a literal Brain in a Jar.
  • The Napoleon: Takes offense to being called small.
  • Non-Elemental: Her spell cards are devoid of any elemental breaks, instead focusing on anomaly breaks. This isn't the case for her spread and focus shots, which have Star breaks.
  • No-Sell: She's immune to status ailments. Her temperament also has no elemental weaknesses, meaning it is impossible for enemies to break this Junko's barriers.
  • Spanner in the Works: Turns out, the Code Bm3 Scenario is some form of battle simulation, but this Junko became a bug in the system and took over.
  • Status Effects: She loves inflicting barrier anomalies and breaking enemy barriers afflicted with them.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: It's heavily implied that Junko is speaking to the player at the end of Code Bm3 (Which makes more sense when you consider that her Ultra Festival came out at around the same time).
  • The Unintelligible: She lapses into a massive rant involving this at one point after getting angry, including speaking in binary of all things (which translated says "Purify").

Guardian of the Truth Temple of Legitimacy and Integrity (Code: Azusa)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sagumeb3_5.png
"You there. You thought I was just spacing out, didn't you?"
Universe Classification: B3

An alternative version of Sagume Kishin that hails from the Bm3 Scenario, same as her compatriots Kannagi and Otohime. Like them, they face a threat to the lunar capital in the form of kaiju, effigies of Gensokyo residents.

She wears a mask to seal away her ability, allowing her to communicate with others without having to worry about having her power kick in and reverse the situation.

  • Cursed with Awesome: Obviously it has its limits, but there's a good reason she keeps that mask on, and that's due to her ability to reverse a situation with her words. Even as a divine spirit without her ability she's plenty strong, but her ability is naturally terrifying if used correctly. Azusa's Last Word, Curiosity Probing Eye, even involves her taking off her mask and saying... something (what she says is never heard), which summons forth a giant Yin-Yang Orb drone... that has a big eye in the middle of it.
  • Leitmotif: And She Is All Alone, a remix of Frozen Capital of Eternity.

The Lunatic Space Youkai (Rabbit 1)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b5udongein.png
"...Oh? Is this Gensokyo? I thought it was lost..."
Universe Classification: B5

An alternative version of Reisen Udongein Inaba who appears in the Code Bm3 Scenario. A Reisen with blonde hair who is allied with the Tiny Space Horror, in spite of coming from a different universe than her. It's hinted in her descriptions that this Reisen never managed to escape from the moon, and thus, when Junko invaded, she was made to fight, and was eventually captured by Junko. Her descriptions even list her as "The Reisen who was taken captive".
  • Leitmotif: Reisen-Round Gothic StdN W8, a remix of Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon.
  • Powered Armor: Shown in her character image, it's used in her Last Word, Light Wind Lunatic Moon (Lunatic Rays), where she dons it to shoot a very powerful laser from her eyes.
  • Shout-Out: Just like the fighting game skin she's based on, her color scheme is themed after Rin Kagamine

The Peacekeeper of the Lunar Capital (Rabbit 2)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hifuureisenii.png
"Don't worry, captives! I'm here to rescue you!"
Universe Classification: B3

An alternative version of Reisen (The Watatsukis' pet, not Reisen Udongein Inaba) who appears in the Code Bm3 Scenario. An assistant to the Lunar Generals including her own masters in Otohime and Kannagi. She's often referred to as "Rabbit 2", not having a particular codename like the lunar leaders.

Guardian of the Love Temple of Benevolence and Conscience (Code: Nayotake)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/powerrangerkaguya.png
"Oh my, this is Gensokyo! The chances of this happening were practically zero... but now I understand. You must be the one who summoned me here."
Universe Classification: B3

An alternative version of Kaguya Houraisan who appears in the Code Bm3 Scenario. As one of the guardians of the moon alongside Azusa, Kannagi and Otohime, she works to protect the Capital from the Kaiju threat. Strangely, this Kaguya appears to never have been exiled from the moon.

Code E9 - Pseudo Paradise

     The Tiny Devil Mistress
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/remie9.png
"You are a fool not to fear a devil, so I shall welcome you with cruelty and punish thee accordingly."
Universe Classification: E9

An alternative version of Remilia Scarlet. She hails from the universe seen in the second Hifuu Lost Word Scenario, centered around Universe E9.
  • Doppelgänger Gets Same Sentiment: On the receiving end of this in Chapter 4 Part 3. When a truce with Satori was called, everyone left along with their companions, though the two Sakuyas summoned during the battle prior followed Remilia instinctively, as her Sakuya mused.
  • Fun Size: This version of Remilia is a lot smaller than her standard version, even smaller than Flandre.
  • I Am the Noun: When using her Last Word, "Scarlet Devil Mansion", she announcee that once the mist covers all, she won't need a building. She ends the declaration with "I am the Scarlet Devil Mansion".
  • Leitmotif: Charisma Recovery, a remix of Septette for the Dead Princess.
  • Mythology Gag: When activating her spell card "Scarlet Gensokyo", she notes that Gensokyo will be hers when the scarlet mist covers all. This is how Embodiment of Scarlet Devil begins with the standard Remilia.

     The Vampire Pursuing the Hunter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hifuuflan.png
"I am a vampire that specialises in hunting vampire hunters, Flandre Scarlet. If you're not a hunter, you have nothing to fear."
Universe Classification: E1

An alternative version of Flandre Scarlet. A Flandre from a slightly different universe than the Remilia of Universe E9, but nonetheless, she fights to protect her sister from the Hunter that seeks to destroy both of them.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: This Flandre is more intellectual than her standard counterpart. She has a grasp of Planck's constant (mention of a Planck Box when activating her Last Word), uses taxonomy names for animals, and gets philosophical about finger display combinations.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Played straight on the surface, as she is protecting her Fun Size sister from vampire hunters; however, she is still Remilia's little sister, making this an inversion.
  • Leitmotif: Forbidden Scarlet Curiosity, a remix of U.N. Owen Was Her? that, as the name may suggest, is taken straight from another Touhou fangame, Scarlet Curiosity.
  • Praetorian Guard: Leads the universe's Scarlet Devil Mansion's defense against the Vampire Hunter, in stead of the universe's Remilia who, while foreign to their universe and is weakened, is still recognized as The Leader of their Keystone Army. This is where her Fan Nickname "Prae" also comes from.

     The Legendary Vampire Hunter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sakuyabelmont_5.png
"My head hurts... Where am I? Who am I?"
Universe Classification: E1

An alternative version of Sakuya Izayoi. Unlike the versions of Sakuya who serve as a maid, this is a potential past Sakuya, shall we say, as she's a Vampire Hunter who's sworn to destroy vampires, such as the E9 Remilia and Flandre. In a case of amnesia, it's one of the only things she can feasibly remember.
  • Amnesiac Villain Joins the Heroes: Sakuya was inflicted with amnesia after the climactic battle against Remilia, who she was hunting down. Once Chapter 4 starts, she appears alongside Remilia, implying this has occured between Hifuu E9 and Chapter 4.
  • Critical Status Buff: Sakuya's second passive skill, Stubborn Survivor, gives her a 60% chance to reduce all damage from a lethal attack to 0.
  • Expy: It's made most blatant in her Last Word, Imperfect Outsider, but she certainly takes on a vibe similar to the Belmonts. In said Last Word, she uses knives, axes and poison (The latter of which takes on an effect similar to the Belmonts' Holy Water) and even seals the target in a coffin before the final blow, much like how Simon and Richter do so in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for their Final Smash.
  • Leitmotif: PARLOR TRICK, a remix of Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial.
  • Religious Bruiser: Besides being a powerful fighter, one of her home screen quotes has her say that while she might lack the skill to help with tasks, she can quote theology.

     The Immovable Demon's Gate
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gatekeepermeiling.png
"If you want to meet the mistress, then you've got to show me proof that you've got an appointment.
Universe Classification: E1

An alternative version of Hong Meiling. She guards the gate of the Scarlet Devil Mansion in her home universe, and the primary difference between her and the mainline Meiling is that she takes her job very seriously. She does, after all, have to keep the Hunter out.

     The Compendium of Advanced Magic
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hifuukoa.png
"I am Koakuma. I have come in response to thy summons."
Universe Classification: E1

An alternative version of Koakuma. A demon summoned from Makai, she serves as the familiar and assistant librarian of her world's Patchouli, similarly to how the mainline Koakuma does it.

     The Loyal Elemental Magician
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hifuupatchy_9.png
"I am an elemental mage who serves the great Lady Remilia. My name is Patchouli Knowledge. You could also call me the Spirit Mage or Magic Sage — I care not."
Universe Classification: E1

An alternative version of Patchouli Knowledge. A magician who came into the service of her world's Remilia long ago, and has faithfully served her ever since, much like the mainline Patchouli.

Relic Units

     The Heat of My Fingertips
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mvremi.png
"I am Remilia Scarlet. The vampire who lost everything. I am the sole resident of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and I am on a journey to regain my fate."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Remilia Scarlet. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word Incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to regain that which she's lost. Her abilities, her home, her life... and her loved ones.

This Remilia is the game's first Relic Unit, a special type of unit based on various Music Videos that have been posted throughout the game's lifespan. Relic units are stronger than Ultra Festival Units but weaker than Epic units. They can be sparked after 350 pulls, but require a new Relic Paper Disk in order to Limit Break without duplicates.
  • Leitmotif: The Heat of My Fingertips, a remix of Septette for the Dead Princess. This is a unique instance so far, as the song actually came before the unit, and was made specifically for Touhou LostWord. Unlike the other Leitmotifs on this page, it links to a non-looping version of the song, as it links to the music video the unit is based on.
  • Meaningful Name: Her Spell Cards draw records of the lost residents of the SDM, which is indicated in their name. Her first Spell Card, Scarlet Devil Mansion: Rainbow Gatekeeper & Elegant Maid, is named for Sakuya and Meiling, and summons two bats. One fires yellow bullets based on Meiling's rainbow bullets while the other fires kunai bullets based on Sakuya's knives. Her second spell card, Scarlet Devil Mansion: Spirit Magician and Little Familiar, is named for Patchouli and Koakuma, and summons two bats. One of them shoots fireballs like Patchouli's Agni Shine while the other fires large bullets based on Koakuma's bullet patterns. Her Last Word, Scarlet Sisters, channels the power of Flandre, temporarily transforming her Gungnir Muspelheim into a form resembling Flandre, before she spawns two large energy blades on both ends and spins the spear around to deliver a repeated attack similar to Flandre's Laevateinn before finally throwing the spear akin to her own Spear the Gungnir.
  • One-Steve Limit: Severely averted as her Title, The Music Video she's based on, Her Leitmotif, and a Story Card acquired at her story event in the Ruins of Memory and the L1 Remilia EX stage (Which happens to be the best card for her Last Word) all share the name "The Heat of My Fingertips".

     Sporadically Margaret
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mvalice.png
"I've been watching a very long play. That's what it feels like. My name is Alice Margatroid. I have been looking for you, so I can reclaim my dolls and my Gensokyo."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Alice Margatroid. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost: the dolls she can manipulate, and her home in Gensokyo.

She's the game's second Relic Unit, featuring many of the same strengths as L80 Remilia before her, and, like L80 Remilia, being based on a music video.
  • Leitmotif: Sporadically Margaret, a remix of Doll Judgement ~ The Girl who Played with Peoples' Shapes. Like with L80 Remilia, the song came before the unit, being the second Touhou LostWord music video to be made, the first being The Heat of My Fingertips. As such, the link leads to the original music video rather than a looping version of the song.
  • One-Steve Limit: Severely averted. Like with L80 Remilia before her, her title, her Leitmotif, the Music Video she's based on, and a story card acquired at her story event in the Ruins of Memory (which serves as the best card for her Last Word) all share the name "Sporadically Margaret".
  • Recycled Animation: Done in a clever way with her two spell cards. Her first spell card, Black Sign: Marisa Doll of Memories, has Alice send out a doll dressed up in Marisa's clothes, which outright replicates L1 Marisa's two spell cards: first is Love Sign: Master Spark, and second is Love Sign: Non-Directional Laser. Her second Spell Card, Purple Sign: Patchouli Doll of Knowledge, similarly replicates L1 Patchouli's two spell cards with a doll dressed as her: first is Moon Sign: Silent Selene, and second is Sun Sign: Royal Flare.
  • Replacement Goldfish: This version of Alice has lost her usual set of dolls alongside everything else. In their place are Fun Size doll replicas of her friends...plus one of herself, who's not brought into battle. The dolls of her friends serve as Memory Jars housing essences of the depicted characters. The ones that can be seen in her Last Word are Reimu, Marisa, Yuuka, Patchouli, Mokou, Medicine, Hina and Narumi, with the Marisa and Patchouli dolls also appearing in her regular spell cards.

     The Moon and Izayoi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/relicsakuya.png
"I am Sakuya Izayoi. I lost my mistress, my fellows, my memories, my ability, and even my home... I was but a pitiful conjurer who had lost everything."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternate version of Sakuya Izayoi. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost, including her mistress.

She's the game's third Relic unit. Like Remilia and Alice before her, she's based on a music video.
  • Leitmotif: "The Moon and Izayoi", a remix of The Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood. Like with the prior Relic units, the song came before the unit, so the link leads to the original video.
  • Lunacy: Sakuya's Relic story has a scene featuring the Lunarians, and in the POV of one whose name was blanked out, but was said to be "What was once Sakuya". This serves to add fuel to a theory of Sakuya being a Lunarian herself.
  • Magical Weapon: The Silver Blade and Vampire Fang were given sentience by satellites placed by Gengetsu and Mugetsu. Sakuya can sense their thoughts, and compares them to tsukimogami in one of her home screen quotes. The Vampire Fang can even replicate a vampire's bite.
  • One-Steve Limit: Severely averted. Her title, her Leitmotif, the music video she's based on and a story card acquired at her story event in the Ruins of Memory (which serves as the best card for her Last Word) all share the name "The Moon and Izayoi", similarly to the other Relic units.
  • The Power of Blood: The red knife carried by this Sakuya replicates a vampire's fang and is made with blood.
  • Sistine Steal: Her Last Word, Royal Deflation World, features her with a hand out reaching towards Remilia's hand in a manner reminiscent of the classic painting.
  • Weapon Twirling: Twirls both her Silver Blade and Vampire Fang in her Idle Animation.

     Silver Gale
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/relicmokou.png
"I'm Fujiwara no Mokou. A phoenix of ash whose flames were extinguished. Death had already been taken from me, but then I lost my immortality... I thought that I had finally gotten the death I had dearly sought, but I was mistaken."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Fujiwara no Mokou. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost, including her immortality.

She is the fourth Relic unit in the game, and like the other three before her, she is based on a music video.
  • Badass Cape: A tattered cloak she names the "Legendary Mantle". On the chapter selection screen, she says that children love it because it makes her looks like a ninja.
  • Leitmotif: "Silver Gale", a remix of Reach For The Moon, Immortal Smoke. Like with the prior Relic units, the song came before the unit, so the link leads to the original video.
  • Locked into Strangeness: In the Ruins of Memory, Mokou stated that her hair used to be black before her newfound powers changed it to white.
  • Meaningful Name: Like with L80 Remilia, this Mokou's Spell Cards have names indicating who they are based on. Her first spell card, Bamboo Forest: Lucky Rabbit and Gentle Wolf, summons a rabbit and wolf familiar whose Danmaku patterns mirror those of Tewi Inaba and Kagerou Imaizumi. Her second spell card, Bamboo Forest: Disguised Medicine Seller, also summons a single rabbit familiar who fires out bullets whose danmaku patterns mirror those Reisen Udongein Inaba, with its name referencing Reisen's tendency to enter the Human Village in disguise to sell medicine. Her Last Word, Figure of Hourai's Long Test of Courage, is a reference to the "test of courage" that Kaguya imposed upon the heroines in Imperishable Night's extra stage, and as such, spawns a rabbit familiar whose patterns evoke Kaguya, and a Hakutaku familiar whose patterns evoke Keine, who fought to protect her from the heroines during the aforementioned "test of courage".
  • One-Steve Limit: Severely averted. Like the other Relic units, her title, Leitmotif, original music video and a story card acquired at her story event in the Ruins of Memory all share the same title, in this case, "Silver Gale".
  • Pure Magic Being: The animals joining Mokou are made of fire. The rabbits represent Tewi and Reisen, the fire rat represents Kaguya, the wolf represents Kagerou, and the hakutaku represents Keine.

     NAЯAKA
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mvsatori.png
"I wish to find someone to tell them my thoughts and feelings that I couldn't convey before. I'm Satori Komeiji. I lost everything and couldn't read minds, even if I wanted to. Now, I'm on a journey to pick up the pieces."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Satori Komeiji. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost, including her pets, her sister, and her mind-reading ability.

Like the rest of the Relic units before her, this unit is based on a music video.
  • The Backwards Я: The epithet—as well as the title of the song associated with this unit—is styled with a cyrillic R.
  • Despair Event Horizon: The Ruins of Memory has a Satori that wants the best for everyone in her domain, and has been past her limit. The voices that enter her mind fearing the end times do not help matters.
  • Leitmotif: "NAЯAKA", a remix of Satori Maiden ~ 3rd Eye. Like with the other relic units, the attached link leads to the original music video, created before the unit.
  • A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read: The Satori found in her Ruins of Memory story wanted to block herself from reading minds when it goes into overflow after hearing countless screams of the end times approaching.
  • Mythology Gag: Koishi is represented by a cat riding a closed satori eye. In the official fighting games, this is the same form Koishi takes while under Mamizou's Forced Transformation spell card.
  • One-Steve Limit: Severely averted. Like the other relic units, her title, Leitmotif, original music video and a story card acquired at her story event in the Ruins of Memory all share the same title, in this case, "NAЯAKA".

     Disillusion
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mvyoumu.png
"I'm Youmu Konpaku. I've travelled for a long time in search of those dear to me. This is my Matsuyoi Spirit Lantern. Lady Yuyuko left it for me, and if I follow its guiding light, I will surely find her again."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Youmu Konpaku. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word Incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost, including her master, Yuyuko.

Like the rest of the Relic units before her, this unit is based on a unit video.
  • Leitmotif: Disillusion, a remix of Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple. Like with the other relic units, the attached link leads to the original music video, created before the unit.
  • One-Steve Limit: Severely averted. Like the other relic units, her title, Leitmotif, original music video and a story card acquired at her story event in the Ruins of Memory all share the same title, in this case, "Disillusion".
  • Power Copying: This is essentially the logic behind her Last Word, Enlightenment - Saigyouji Parnirvana Slash, which is essentially Youmu copying the bullet patterns of Yuyuko's original Last Word, Saigyouji Parnirvana, as best she can.

     Blue Goodbyes
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mvkanako.png
"So it was you. This must mean my long journey is almost over. I'm Kanako Yasaka. I lost my faith and couldn't protect what was most dear to me... I'm a failure as a divine spirit."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Kanako Yasaka. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word Incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost, including her faith, as well as the other inhabitants of her shrine, Sanae and Suwako.

Like the rest of the Relic units before her, this unit is based on a unit video.
  • Leitmotif: Blue Goodbyes, a remix of Suwa Foughten Field ~ Ancient Battlefield. Like with the other relic units, the link leads to the original music video the unti is based off of.
  • Tank Goodness: She's riding a replica of Moriya Shrine that doubles as a tank. It also stashes away extra armaments that can be used at will during her Last Word.

     I'm Alright!
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mvflan.png
"Phew. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but that was even harder than I thought. Well, it doesn't really matter how distorted a fate gets. Because as long as I can give it a form, I can destroy it, just like that."
Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Flandre Scarlet. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word Incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost, including her sister, her room, and the other mansion inhabitants.

Like the rest of the Relic units before her, this unit is based on a music video.
  • BFS: The Magical Megaton Mace has a head representing Flandre's room, and the head is bigger than she is.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: To show her youthfulness, she has accessory-wearing teddy bears representing her friends.
  • Leitmotif: I'm Alright!, a remix of U.N. Owen was Her?. Like the other relic units, the link leads to the original music video the unit is based off of.
  • Star Power: The majority of her elemental breaks are Star element.

     Night-Splitting Light
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/l80_marisa.png
"'Sup, it's been a while, huh? I doubt it's necessary, but allow me to introduce myself. I'm Marisa Kirisame. A pitifully weak magician, stuck in that shrine maiden's shadow."

Universe Classification: L80

An alternative version of Marisa Kirisame. Hailing from a universe consumed by the Lost Word Incident, she originally lost her existence, but was somehow restored, and is now on a journey to reclaim everything she's lost, including her magic and her relationship with Reimu.

Like the rest of the Relic units before her, this unit is based on a music video.

  • Composite Character: She incorporates Reimu's incident-resolving tools into her attacks. A yin-yang orb accompanies her in the Last Word. This is even made abundantly clear in her regular spell cards, which combine one of her spell cards with one of Reimu's: Her first, Spirit-Magic Sign: Sealed Reverie, combines Spirit Sign: Fantasy Seal and Magic Sign: Stardust Reverie, while her second, Love-Dream Sign: Square Spark, combines Dream Sign: Evil-Sealing Circle and Love Sign: Master Spark.
  • Leitmotif: Night-Splitting Light, a remix of Magus Night. Like the other relic units, the link leads to the original music video the unit is based off of.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Her Spread shot utilizes paper planes made from ofuda papers.
  • Stargazing Scene: She hoped to watch the stars with Reimu in her story, but the weather was bad.
