     The Eternal Shrine Maiden (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210902_400101.png
"Did someone or other go and teach those guys at the scarlet mansion a lesson? ...Well, whatever. I'm just glad it's finally sunny again!"

Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Reimu Hakurei. While she doesn't appear in the story itself, and is a unit based on Reimu's appearance in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, there are a few hints that this Reimu isn't quite the one from that game. Most notably in her descriptions, it's noted that in the world this Reimu hails from, She and her Marisa actually failed to resolve the Scarlet Mist incident, and thus their Gensokyo is still blanketed in scarlet mist. Thus, she and her Marisa can still be considered in training, as her spell cards are experimental, unfinished versions of the ones that the mainline Reimu herself uses.

She's the first A-Type unit in the game.

  • Alternate Timeline: She's from a timeline where the Scarlet Mist incident was never resolved, based on her dialogue and ability descriptions. She and her Marisa kept challenging the SDM residents, but never actually managed to defeat Remilia.
  • Always Accurate Attack: Her specialty. Amongst her attacks, only two of them DON'T have the Sure-Hit (Always hits regardless of accuracy and evasion) property on any of their bullets: Her Focus Shot, Persuasion Needle (Scarlet), and her Last Word, Experimental Fantasy Nature. Her Spread Shot, Homing Amulet (Scarlet) even has a chance to increase her accuracy, and her second Spell Card, Experimental Sealing Circle reduces the targets' evasion.
  • Critical Hit Class: Not to the extent of the Strange Magician (Scarlet), but she's no stranger to utilizing the Killer tag on her attacks. Notably, every last attack has at least one bullet with the Youkai-killer property, though it's most notable with her second Spell Card, Dream Sign: Experimental Sealing Circle, and her Last Word, Experimental Fantasy Nature. Experimental Sealing Circle also reduces the victims' Crit Evasion, making them more likely to take critical hits.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: Her Last Word and both of her Spell Cards are holy in nature. It comes with the territory of being a Miko.
  • Jack of All Stats: She doesn't have any real weaknesses. Even though her bulk is inferior to her mainline self, she's not fragile by any means, and she hits rather hard too. She's also got some nice team support. In essence, she does a little bit of everything.
  • Leitmotif: Girl's Sleeping Song ~ Dream Battle, a remix of Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle.
  • Mythology Gag: Her entire existence is one, right down to her design. This is essentially Reimu as she appeared in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Even her Spell Cards, Experimental Fantasy Seal and Experimental Sealing Circle, are references to EoSD. Specifically, Experiemental Fantasy Seal is based on Reimu-A's bomb in that game, whereas Experimental Sealing Circle is based on Reimu-B's bomb. Only her Last Word, Experimental Fantasy Nature, can be considered an 'original' spell, being a reimagined version of Fantasy Nature, Reimu's Last Word from Imperishable Night.
  • Super Prototype: In spite of her relative inexperience compared to the mainline Reimu, her experimental spells hit a hell of a lot harder than mainline Reimu's do, though in turn she's not got nearly as much defensive prowess.

     The Strange Magician (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210831_400201.png
"Who am I? You can call me Reimu Hakurei— I'm a shrine maiden... Oh, you've already met Reimu, eh? I guess I'll save that joke for another time then. You wanna know my real name? It's Marisa Kirisame."

Universe Classification: A6

Yet another alternative version of Marisa Kirisame. Just like the Eternal Shrine Maiden (Scarlet), she doesn't appear in the story itself, but lore has it that she and her Reimu failed to resolve the Scarlet Mist incident and are still in training. Just like Eternal Shrine Maiden (Scarlet), She's a unit based on a character's retro appearance. In this case, she's based on Marisa's appearance in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Unlike her Reimu, she does have a finished version of one of her spells, but her other two are still in testing.

  • Alternate Timeline: She hails from a world where the Scarlet Mist incident was never resolved, as mentioned by her dialogue and skill descriptions. She and her Reimu tried to stop Remilia, but never actually managed to make a successful attempt.
  • Critical Hit Class: This Marisa is all about taking advantage of the innate killer (Always crits against a specified type of enemy) class of bullets that some attacks have. Her spell cards and Last Word all have Youkai and Ghost-Killer (Which is very good as most Touhou characters are youkai and ghosts make up a fair number of the ones who aren't), but she can also reduce targets' Critical Defense (Causing them to take more damage from critical hits) on all enemies, making her combo very well with other Crit or Killer-centric characters, such as Toyohime (who possesses the rare and devastating Gensokyo-Killer on her Last Word), which means she brings both utility and damage to teams focusing on that.
  • Leitmotif: Starlight, a remix of Vessel of Stars ~ Casket of Star. Notably, this makes her the first Marisa variant to not have her leitmotif be a remix of Love-Coloured Master Spark.
  • Mythology Gag: Her entire existence is one, right down to her design. This is essentially Marisa as she appeared in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Even her Spell Cards, Stardust Reverie and Proto-Spark, are references to EoSD. Specifically, Stardust Reverie is based on Marisa-A's bomb, and Proto-Spark is based on Marisa B's bomb. Only her last word, Prototype- Blazing Star can be considered an 'original' spell, being a reimagined version of Blazing Star, Marisa's last word from Imperishable Night. In her introduction, she even references introducing herself as Reimu, which she did in the Extra Stage of EoSD.
  • Ramming Always Works: Prototype- Blazing Star, her last word, is this, given that it's well, a prototype of Blazing Star.
  • Star Power: Marisa's first spell card, Magic Sign: Stardust Reverie is this, shooting out an omnidirectional barrage of stars.
  • Super Prototype: More blatant with her than Reimu, as the mainline Marisa was a very unfortunate victim of power creep. She blows her mainline self out of the water in both raw offensive might and team utility. She even lampshades it with her pre-cast dialogue for Proto-Spark.
Marisa (EoSD): Sometimes the prototype is more effective. It's not that unusual, right?
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Love Sign: Proto-Spark is essentially the EoSD version of Master Spark.

The Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210910_400501____fix.png
"Can you hear the sound of your fate ticking? No, you can't, can you? Because it has already stopped."

Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Sakuya Izayoi. Hailing from the same world as The Eternal Shrine Maiden (Scarlet) and The Strange Magician (Scarlet), this Sakuya, unlike the other two (Scarlet) units, is actually on the side of the one who caused the Scarlet Mist Incident to begin with. Just like the other two (Scarlet) units, she's essentially a walking Mythology Gag, essentially being Sakuya as she appeared in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.

  • Alternate Timeline: Her dialogue suggests she's from a world where the Scarlet Mist incident was never resolved. She does mention that Reimu and Marisa tried to stop Remilia repeatedly but failed each time.
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: During autumn, one home screen quote has her use her time manipulation to outprank fairies attempting mischief by slipping snacks into their pockets. That kept them at bay for a time.
  • Flechette Storm: It kind of comes with the territory of being Sakuya Izayoi (Who provides the image for the trope's main page). Literally every single one of her attacks does this to some extent. Be it shooting waves that form lines like in both her shots (Spread Shot: Retrievable Knives and Focus Shot: Illusion Actress), coming from above like in Luna Clock, or from all directions like in Manipulating Doll and Deflation World: Carmine.
  • Leitmotif: Illusion, a remix of Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial.
  • Mythology Gag: As mentioned, she's basically Sakuya as she appeared in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Her two regular spell cards, Illusion Image: Luna Clock and Maid Secret Skill: Manipulating Doll, are ripped straight from her boss fight in EoSD (more specifically, they're based on the Easy/Normal version of the Spell Cards, rather than the Hard/Lunatic versions). It's also mentioned that her Last Word, Deflation World: Carmine, a reimagined version of Sakuya's Last Word from Imperishable Night, Deflation World, should not exist until after the Scarlet Mist incident is resolved.
  • Playing with Fire: Both of her regular spell cards have fire elemental breaks as well, but this is ABSOLUTELY the case with her Last Word, Deflation World: Carmine, which has every single bullet be Fire Elemental, making her the queen of breaking the barriers of Fire-weak foes.
  • Time Master: She stops time to place her knives when using Luna Clock or Manipulating Doll.
  • Super Prototype: Much like The Strange Magician (Scarlet), she greatly outclasses her mainline counterpart in spite of nominally splitting earlier in the timeline.

     The Lunatic Moon Rabbit (Eternal)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210930_401501____fix_updated.png
"I won't hold back if you're here to take the princess away..."

Universe Classification: A8

An alternative version of Reisen Udongein Inaba. Like the (Scarlet) units, she hails from a world trapped in an unresolved incident from canon, but unlike those, the incident her world is trapped in is the Eternal Night Incident and the stolen full moon, which, much like the design of this Reisen, originates in Imperishable Night.

The Lunatic Moon Rabbit (Eternal) is the first A-Type unit not from Universe A6.

  • Achilles' Heel: Just like with the Tiny Ghost Mistress, she gets most of her power from inflicting herself with barrier anomalies (In this case, Blind and Paralyze), so enemies who can break those anomaly types are very bad news for Reisen (Eternal).
  • Alternate Timeline: She hails from a timeline where the Eternal Night and stolen full moon were never resolved. It's unclear as to why the incident was never resolved, though.
  • Leitmotif: The Twisted Hallway and the Moon Madness, a remix of both Cinderella Cage ~ Kagome-Kagome and Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon.
  • Mythology Gag: This is essentially Reisen as she appears in Touhou Eiyashou ~ Imperishable Night. All three of her spell cards, those being Tele-Mesmerism, Invisible Full Moon and Lunatic Red Eyes Remix, all take their origins from IN. Specifically, Tele-Mesmerism is one of her Easy/Normal Spell Cards, Invisible Full Moon is her Last Spell, and Lunatic Red Eyes Remix is a closer interpretation of the original Lunatic Red Eyes, her Last Word.
  • Smoking Barrel Blowout: Her victory animation has her blow on her finger like a gun, and there's a smoke trail after.

The Traditional Reporter of Fantasy (Flower)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20211001_204401____fix_updated.png
"Oh? You've got the stench of a scoop on you!"

Universe Classification: A9

An alternative version of Aya Shameimaru. Like the (Scarlet) units and Lunatic Moon Rabbit (Eternal), she hails from a world trapped in an unresolved incident from canon. Unlike those units, her incident is the off-season blooming incident seen in Phantasmagoria of Flower View, where this Aya's design originates from.

  • Alternate Timeline: She hails from a timeline where the Off-season blooming flowers incident was never resolved.
  • Leitmotif: Whirlwind Saudade, a remix of Wind God Girl.
  • Non-Indicative Name: This Aya's design may come from Touhou Kaeidzuka ~ Phantasmagoria of Flower View, as noted by her title, but only her Focus Shot, Extra Fans (Flower) and Spread Shot, Tengu Gale Bullets (Flower) reference PoFV. Her Last Word, Giant Shellfish of Azaka, is a totally original spell, and her two regular spell cards, Saruta Cross and Terukuni Shining Through Heaven and Earth, are actually from Mountain of Faith (Specifically, the Hard/Lunatic version of Aya's first spell in that game and the Lunatic version of Aya's fourth and final spell), NOT Phantasmagoria of Flower View (In fact, Aya's two spell cards in PoFV, those being Wind Sign: Wind God's Fan and Gust: Wind God Girl, are almost totally absent- Wind God Girl is only mentioned in one of her skills).
  • Support Party Member: While Aya (Flower)'s damage is by no means bad, she's far better when utilized for her support capabilities rather than power. Amongst other things, she can debuff targets' evasion with Saruta Cross, their accuracy and CRIT accuracy with Terukuni Shining Through Heaven and Earth, and Giant Shellfish of Azaka debuffs CRIT evasion. Her Focus Shot, Tengu Gale Bullet (Flower) can debuff opposing accuracy (And Yang DEF if one is willing to spend Spirit Power). She's also got potent elemental breaks and can even inflict 2 layers of Blind on enemies to further debuff their accuracy.

     The Phantom-Human Gardener (Cherry Blossom)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20210917_401101_0.png
"The seasons are back to normal...? Wh-what's going on?"

Universe Classification: A7

Yet another alternative version of Youmu Konpaku. Like Aya (Flower), Reisen (Eternal) and the (Scarlet) units, Youmu (Cherry Blossom) is another unit who hails from a world trapped in a past incident, one that was never resolved. She hails from a world where the Spring Snow Incident, seen in Perfect Cherry Blossom, was never resolved- while she never managed to make the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom, her world's Reimu, Marisa and Sakuya never managed to reclaim the stolen spring.

  • Alternate Timeline: She hails from a timeline where the protagonists never managed to resolve the Spring Snow incident. However, this Youmu also never managed to gather enough spring to make the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom, meaning the incident eventually suspended on a stalemate.
  • Leitmotif: Perfect Cherry Blossom 2014 V2, a remix of Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When? and Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple.
  • Mythology Gag: Like the other retro units. This is essentially Youmu as she appeared in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom. Her regular spell cards, Heaven God Sword: Three Kons, Seven Hakus and Six Realms Sword: A Single Thought and Infinite Kalpas, are ripped straight from PCB. Specifically, the former is her final spell as the Stage 5 Boss (specifically on Lunatic difficulty), and the latter is her only spell as the Stage 6 Midboss (on any difficulty). Her only 'original' spell is Matsuyoi-Reflecting Satellite Slash - Distant Flowers, Which is a reimagined version of Youmu's Last Word from Imperishable Night, Matsuyoi-Reflecting Satellite Slash. This is noted as to not supposed to exist at this Youmu's point in time (Similarly to the Last Words of the (Scarlet) units), as Last Words were not a thing until Imperishable Night.

     The Sealed Great Magician (Fantastic)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/202401.png
"I can finally set up a new haven together with the youkai that look up to me."
Universe Classification: A12

An alternative version of Byakuren Hijiri. Hailing from an alternate universe where she was not defeated by Reimu, Marisa and Sanae, she has not yet set up Myouren Temple in her world, instead looking for a place to create a haven for youkai using the Palanquin Ship.
  • Alternate Timeline: This Byakuren was never defeated by her world's Reimu, Marisa and Sanae, meaning she's still seeking a place to settle down using the Palanquin ship, essentially meaning her world's stuck in the 'Treasure Ship' incident.
  • Leitmotif: Orderly Erosion, a remix of Emotional Skyscraper ~ Cosmic Mind.
  • Mythology Gag: This is essentially Byakuren as she appeared in Touhou Seirensen ~ Undefined Fantastic Object. Her two spell cards, those being Great Magic: Devil's Recitation (which itself is a reprisal of one of Shinki's attacks from Mystic Square) and Superhuman: Byakuren Hijiri, are spell cards she uses in UFO. Her Focus Shot, Spread Shot and Last Word are originals, though her Last Word has flavor text that links it to Angirasa Veda, Byakuren's Last Word from Hopeless Masquerade.

The Ice Fairy of the Lake (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/69_1.png
"You made a fairy lost who's supposed to make humans lost... not bad!"

Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Cirno. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist is the Ice Fairy Cirno. This version of Cirno is actually stronger than the mainline Cirno was at the time, as she actually takes advantage of the incident, utilizing the Scarlet Mist to make her attacks more powerful.

  • Alternate Timeline: Like the other (Scarlet) units, her timeline is one where the Scarlet Mist incident was never resolved.
  • An Ice Person: In spite of the Irony involving her access to Fire, this Cirno, like the original one, does still specialise in Freeze barriers. She's better at inflicting them than the original (L1) Cirno is, but in turn she has a harder time breaking Freeze on more than one opponent as her only move that can break Frozen barriers, that being her first spell card, Hail Sign: Hailstorm, is single-target.
  • Irony: Despite being an ice fairy, her Last Word, Permanent Red Ice Fog, has Fire Breaks on it (And moreover, she doesn't actually specialise in Water breaks).
  • Leitmotif: Icicle Bomb, a remix of Beloved Tomboyish Girl.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • This is essentially Cirno as she appeared in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Her two spell cards, Hail Sign: Hailstorm (The Hard/Lunatic mode version of the infamous Ice Sign: Icicle Fall) and Snow Sign: Diamond Blizzard, are taken straight from EoSD.
    • Upon activating Snow Sign: Diamond Blizzard, her casting line includes a threat to freeze her foes with some English beef, a nod to one of her lines in EoSD

The Mastermind Behind Spiriting Away (Cherry Blossom)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pcbgaphag_0.png
"I have to stop Yuyuko and save Reimu, but... I am so sleepy..."
Universe Classification: A7

An alternative version of Yukari Yakumo. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter, Yukari eventually awoke from her hibernation without the heroines to prod her. Due to the precarious situation, she immediately took action in attempting to figure out what's going on.
  • Leitmotif: The Border of Humans and Youkai, a remix of Necrofantasia.
  • Mythology Gag: As usual. She's essentially Yukari as she appeared in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom. Her Spell Cards, Boundary of Humans and Youkai and Boundary of Life and Death, are ripped straight from her stint as PCB's Phantasm Boss. However, she also has some shout outs to Touhou Eiyashou ~ Imperishable Night in the form of her Last Word, Profound Danmaku Barrier- Phantasm, Foam, Shadow and Life, a reimagined version of her Last Word from IN, Profound Danmaku Barrier- Phantasm, Foam and Shadow (though if we want to be technical, Profound Danmaku Barrier is just an extended version of Danmaku Barrier from PCB), and the outfit she wears is the blue outfit that appears during her Last Word in Imperishable Night.

The Seven-Colored Puppet Master (Cherry Blossom)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pcbalice.png
"Come to me, my dolls. Let's look for spring. To give a fitting fate to the one who stole our spring."
Universe Classification: A7

An alternative version of Alice Margatroid. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter, this Alice, based on some of her flavor text, wants to reclaim the spring that was stolen from Gensokyo, but it's unclear as to her true relation to the incident plaguing the world from whence she came.
  • Leitmotif: Doll Judgment, a remix of Doll Judgment ~ The Girl who Played with Peoples' Shapes.
  • Mythology Gag: As is standard by this point, she's a walking, talking one, essentially being Alice as she appeared during Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom. Her Spell Cards, Puppeteer Sign: Maiden's Bunraku and Malediction: Hanged Hourai Dolls, are both taken from the fight against her as the Stage 3 Boss of PCB. Her Last Word, Spring Act- The Phantom of the Grand Guignol, is a reimagined version of The Phantom of the Grand Guignol, her Last Word from IN.
    • One of A7 Alice's voices is named "Three and a Half Shrine Maidens". This is referencing a particular line from Reimu's scenario in PCB, where Alice states that "In the end, shrine maidens are two colors. Your power is only twenty-eight-point-five-seven-one-four percent as powerful as mine" (To those who don't get it, that's 2/7 as a percentage, referencing Reimu's two primary colours of red and white, and Alice's title of Seven-colored Puppeteer.)
    • Her voice line for her Hanged Hourai Dolls spellcard references Dolls in Pseudo Paradise, ZUN's first album before the Sealing Club story started, and the common theory that Alice was the culprit behind the murders in the story.
"You, me, and that person...all eight of us are honest people. After the hanging—there was no one left."

The Deified Human of the Wind (Faith)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mofbluereimu.png
"Is this the shrine at the foot of the mountain? When did I...? Is this the work of that shrine maiden?"
Universe Classification: A10

Another alternative version of Sanae Kochiya. This Sanae hails from a world where the Moriya Shrine opted to fight against the Youkai of the mountain rather than cooperate with them, presumably due to them not being defeated by Reimu and Marisa.

The Avatar of Mountains and Lakes (Faith)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mofkanako.png
"I thought I would get my hands on the Youkai Mountain and Hakurei Shrine in a matter of seconds...but it's just my luck that I've now been summoned somewhere else...I'm honestly surprised."
Universe Classification: A10

An alternative version of Kanako Yasaka. This Kanako hails from a universe where the Moriya Shrine opted to fight against the Youkai of the mountain rather than cooperate with them, presumably due to them not being defeated by Reimu and Marisa.
  • Leitmotif: IS THERE A GOD, a remix of Suwa Foughten Field~ Ancient Battlefield.
  • Mythology Gag: Just like the other Type-A characters, she's a version of Kanako as she appeared in Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith. Her Spell Cards, God Sign: Beautiful Spring Like Suiga and God Sign: Ancient Fate Linked by Cedars, are the first and second Spell Cards she uses as Midboss of MoF's Extra Stage.

The Brain of the Moon (Eternal)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ineirin.png
"Has my sealed chamber spell been broken? No, this is something else. It's a phenomenon similar to advanced quantum teleportation..."
Universe Classification: A8

An alternative version of Eirin Yagokoro. Hailing from the world where the Eternal Night never ended, and the stolen full moon was never reclaimed, presumably because she never came to the conclusion that the Hakurei Barrier would shut out the Lunarians.
  • Leitmotif: Gensokyo Millennium ~ History of the Moon, a remix of the song of the same name from IN.
  • Mythology Gag: As usual for A-Types. She's Eirin as she appeared in Touhou Eiyashou ~ Imperishable Night. Her Spell Cards, Forbidden Medicine: Hourai Elixir and Medicine Sign: Great Galaxy in a Jar, are taken straight from IN. Specifically, the former is her Last Spell as the boss of Stage 6A, and the latter is her only spell as the Midboss of Stage 6B. Her Last Word, Heaven Spider's Butterfly-Capturing Web - False Moon, is a re-imagining of Heaven Spider's Butterfly-Capturing Web, her Last Word from IN.

The Girl of Knowledge and Shade (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdpatchy.png
"How am I so calm, you ask? It's no big deal, but I will explain it to you. The concept of travelling beyond the limits of space-time is a magical theory that was developed long ago."
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Patchouli Knowledge who hails from the world perpetually shrouded in Scarlet Mist, as with the other (Scarlet) units.
  • Leitmotif: HEPT-GRAM, a remix of Voile, The Magic Library and Locked Girl ~ The Girl's Secret Room.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Patchouli as she appeared in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Her two spell cards, Wood & Fire Sign: Forest Blaze, and Water & Metal Sign: Mercury Poisoning, are both taken from her boss fight as the Stage 4 Boss of EoSD. Specifically, Forest Blaze is used as her third spell against Marisa-A on all difficulties, and her final spell against Reimu-A on Hard and Lunatic, whereas Mercury Poisoning is used as her fourth spell against Reimu-A and Reimu B on Normal and above, and her final spell against Marisa-B on Hard and Lunatic.

The Closed Eyes of Love (Subterranean)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sakoishi.png
"Do you know where my sister, Orin and Okuu went?"
Universe Classification: A11

An alternate version of Koishi Komeiji. She hails from a world where the vengeful spirits spewing out to the surface never stopped, and the Underworld cut off all communication with the surface of Gensokyo. In spite of these differences, Koishi seems basically the same as ever, though it's unclear what actions Koishi has taken in the meantime.
  • Interspecies Friendship: According to a couple home screen lines, she befriended Flandre (a vampire) and Kokoro (a menreiki). Kokoro also gave Koishi a replica of the Mask of Hope, which is also a nod to the events of Hopeless Masquerade.
  • Leitmotif: Hartmann's Youkai Girl, a remix of the song of the same name from SA.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Koishi as she appeared in Touhou Chireiden ~ Subterranean Animism- the first of the A-Type units to feature said game. Her Spell Cards, Instinct: Release of the Id and Suppression: Superego, are taken straight from her stint as the Extra Boss of SA.

The Pinnacle of Native Gods (Faith)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mofsuwako.png
"It's not my turn yet, so I've been sleeping in the shrine... who are you?"
Universe Classification: A10

An alternative version of Suwako Moriya. She is the third and final member of the trio who rests in the Moriya Shrine atop Youkai Mountain, opting to fight against the youkai of the mountain rather than cooperate with them, presumably because they were never defeated by Reimu and Marisa.

    The Shoutoku Taoist (Desires)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tdmiko.png
"I am Toyosatomimi no Miko. I am a saint who was ressurected to save this Buddha-less world. People call me prince Shoutoku."
Universe Classification: A13

An alternative version of Toyosatomimi no Miko. She hails from a world where the overflowing divine spirits never stopped. This is presumably due to this Miko's own actions, and her ability descriptions imply she saw something that made her feel it was necessary to prolong the incident.
  • Leitmotif: We're Still Not [End Point], a remix of Shoutoku Taoist ~ True Administrator.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Miko as she appeared in Touhou Shinreibyou ~ Ten Desires- the first of the A-Type units to feature from said game. Her spell cards, Honor: Ranks of Twelve Levels, and Summon: Powerful Clans' Chaotic Dance are taken straight from her stint as the final boss of TD. Specifically, the Hard/Lunatic version of her first spell card, and the Hard/Lunatic version of her third spell card. Her Last Word, Divine Spirit Universe, also seems to take its animation from one of Miko's spell cards, essentially being a hypercharged version of her fourth spell card from TD, Secret Treasure: Armillary Sphere of Ikaruga-dera.

The Shikigami of the Gap Youkai (Cherry Blossom)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pcbran.png
"Ooh, I see a human. Is this... Hakurei Shrine?"
Universe Classification: A7

An alternative version of Ran Yakumo. Hailing from the world trapped in an eternal winter, she dutifully follows her master's orders. Her role in the incident is basically unchanged, only the circumstances have.

The Girl Even the Evil Spirits Fear (Subterranean)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sasatori.png
"I am... not the same as the version of me in your memories."
Universe Classification: A11

An alternative version of Satori Komeiji. Hailing from the world where the vengeful spirits flowing to the surface never stopped, and the Underworld cut off all communication with Gensokyo's surface. Her role in her world's unending incident is unclear, but she did something to prolong the incident, after having found out about the issues with Rin and Utsuho.
  • Leitmotif: Satori Maiden, a remix of Satori Maiden ~ 3rd eye.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Satori as she appeared in Touhou Chireiden ~ Subterranean Animism. Her normal spell cards are taken straight from her stint as the Stage 4 Boss of SA. Her first, Recollection: Night Parade of a Million Demons, is her third spell card used against Reimu-B (itself a copy of Suika's final spell card in IaMP and the spell used in EX-8 in StB), whereas her second, Recollection: Philosopher's Stone, is her fourth and final spell card used against Marisa-B (itself a copy of Patchouli's third and final spell card as a midboss in EoSD's extra stage, and a usable spell card as a player in IaMP and SWR).

     The Super Youkai Warhead (Faith)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mofnitori.png
"Isn't this Hakurei Shrine, the final defensive stronghold of our sworn friends?"
Universe Classification: A10

An alternative version of Nitori Kawashiro. Hailing from the world where the gods of the Moriya Shrine fought against the youkai of the mountain, locked in a stalemate while requesting assistance from the humans at the foot of the mountain, even temporarily allying with the Hakurei Shrine.
  • Leitmotif: Kappappa Thinking, a remix of Akutagawa Ryuunosuke's Kappa ~ Candid Friend.
  • Mythology Gag: This is essentially Nitori as she appeared in Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith. Her normal spell cards are taken straight from her stint as the Stage 3 Boss of MoF. Her first, Optics: Hydro Camouflage, is her first spell card on Hard/Lunatic, and her second, Kappa: Spin the Cephalic Plate, is her third and final spell card on Lunatic. Her Last Word, Wind and Clouds! The Youkai Mountain 3D, appears to be original at a first glance, but in reality draws heavy inspiration from Nitori's Last Word from Hopeless Masquerade, Super Scope 3D.

     The Shining Sunlight (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdsunny.png
"Eek! Young mistress?! I-I wasn't slacking off, I was just trying to catch an Insect- huh? Why am I at Hakurei Shrine?"

Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Sunny Milk. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist, Sunny Milk finds work as one of the fairy maids of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.

  • Breaking Old Trends: This Sunny Milk is the first A-Type unit to be based on a character that does not appear in the game their universe is meant to represent, mostly due to the fact that Touhou Sangetsusei (and by proxy the Light Fairies, Sunny included) did not come into existence until around two and a half years after the release of Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. note
  • Break the Cutie: When she casts her spell card "Sun Sign: Direct Sunlight", she's despairing that the mist will never lift. Understandable, as she was once a peppy sun-attuned fairy who gets more powerful when the sun's up, and the mist blocks sunlight.
  • Janitor Impersonation Infiltration: In EX 2 part 8, the divergent Sakuya (resembling the one from A6) at the nuclear reactor noted a fairy with power of the sun that disguised herself as a maid at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, implying this to be the case for Sunny Milk.
  • Mythology Gag: Her maid attire is a nod to a manga chapter in which she and her fellow Fairies of Light were working as maids. Aside from that, this is, strangely enough for an A-Type unit, averted.
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: From a prankster Fairy of Light to a fairy maid at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, all because the scarlet mist has settled.

The Ghost Girl in the Netherworld Tower (Cherry Blossom)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pcbyuyuko.png
"Oh my, it seems you have a little bit of spring. Could you please give it to me?"
Universe Classification: A7

An alternative version of Yuyuko Saigyouji. Hailing from the Universe eternally trapped in an unending winter, she was the culprit behind the incident. Curiously, though, she never actually managed to reach her goal of making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom, thus causing a stalemate between her and the heroines.
  • Heel Realization: One of her home screen quotes has her realize the effects of her spring gathering, which caused a prolonged winter outside of Hakugyokuro. She muses that it explains the three human visitors, referring to the incident resolvers Reimu, Marisa, and Sakuya in Perfect Cherry Blossom.
  • Leitmotif: Some Things Never Change (2013 Remix), a remix of Bloom Nobly, Ink-Black Cherry Blossom ~ Border of Life.
  • Mythology Gag: This is essentially Yuyuko as she appeared in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom. Her regular spell cards are taken straight from her stint as PCB's final boss. Specifically, her first, Flowery Soul: Butterfly Delusion, is the Lunatic version of her third spell card, whereas her second spell card, Cherry Blossom Sign: Perfect Ink-Black Cherry Blossom -Bloom- is the Lunatic version of her fifth spell card. Lastly, while technically an "original" spell given how it's not supposed to exist yet, her Last Word, Saigyouji Parnirvana - Eternal Spring, is a reimagined version of Saigyouji Parnirvana, Yuyuko's Last Word from Imperishable Night, which loops back around into being a PCB reference, as Saigyouji Parnirvana itself is based on the Ressurection Butterfly series of spells, Yuyuko's final spell from PCB.

    The Youkai of Dusk (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdrumia.png
"Huh? The sun suddenly rose, and the mist cleared. Aww, it was so lovely and dark..."
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Rumia. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist, she grew far more powerful due to the scarlet mist blocking out the sun, thus reducing the amount of power she needed to spread darkness everywhere.
  • Battle Discretion Shot: As she chows down on her foes during her Last Word, Maroon-Night Devouring, the sphere that cloaks her and eventually the foes obscures the action.
  • Mythology Gag: This is essentially Rumia as she appeared in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Her normal spell cards are taken from her stint as EoSD's Stage 1 Midboss and Boss. Specifically, her first spell card, Moon Sign: Moonlight Ray, is her one and only spell card as the Midboss, and her second spell card, Darkness Sign: Demarcation, is her second and final spell card as the Boss.
  • To Serve Man: Like her original version, Rumia is very fond of consuming human flesh. According to her quote when she uses her Last Word, she even uses the scarlet mist to enhance the flavor of her meals.

The Eternally Young Scarlet Moon (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdremi.png
"I understand what happened. Fate has been distorted. I was summoned to an impossible spacetime by your prayer. My name is Remilia Scarlet, and I am the scarlet devil."
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Remilia Scarlet. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in her Scarlet Mist, she takes advantage of her newly made paradise and will go to great lengths to prolong the incident.
  • Alternate Timeline: She views the ingame world as a distortion of fate, as the mist has cleared here.
  • Leitmotif: Overwhelm, a remix of Septette for the Dead Princess.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Remilia as she appeared in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Her spell cards are taken straight from her stint as the Final Boss of EoSD. Her first, Nether Sign: Scarlet Netherworld, is her second spell card on Normal, and her second, Scarlet Gensokyo, is her final spell card on Hard and Lunatic.
  • Noble Demon: According to one of Sunny Milk (A6)'s home screen quotes, she may be intimidating, but she treats her fairy maids with respect.

The Sister of the Devil (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdflan.png
"I heard it all. I heard them talking with my sister. And everything else... everything! But nothing ever came of it. I was hoping for a change that would finally transform my life!"
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Flandre Scarlet. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in her sister's Scarlet Mist, she views the incident as a chance to finally venture from her basement.
  • Leitmotif: Unfound, a remix of U.N. Owen was Her?
  • Mythology Gag: This is Flandre as she appears in Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Her spell cards are taken straight from her stint as the Extra Boss of EoSD. Her first, Taboo: Four of a Kind, is her third spell card, and her second, QED: Ripples of 495 Years, is her tenth and final spell card.
  • Playing Card Motifs: Her Spread Shot and first Spell Card carry playing card based names on the bullets.
    • The names for her Spread Shot extra bullets are, in order: Joker, Jack of Clubs, Queen of Diamonds, King of Spades, Ace of Hearts.
    • Spell card 1 uses ranks for the names alongside "Four of a Kind", a possible poker hand. The card ranks on the Light Bullets are, in order: Kings, Queens, Jacks, and Aces.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: If summoned, she yells at you for ruining her chance to finally play outside.

     The Nameless Greater Fairy (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosddai.png
"Ahaha! Cirno's ice is amazing! It's always cold because the mist never clears. That must be why she's so much stronger now... huh? Did I fly all the way to the shrine?"
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of the nameless greater fairy from the Misty Lake commonly identified as Daiyousei, who hails from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist. She spends much of her time at the Misty Lake playing with her best friend Cirno, completely oblivious as to the consequences of the endless incident.

     The Nameless Little Devil (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdkoa.png
"Hellooo! It's me, Koakuma, Lady Patchouli! Thank you for requesting my presence once more— Hmm.. I knew something wasn't right."
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of the nameless little devil from Patchouli's library commonly identified as Koakuma, who hails from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist. She has a contract with Patchouli to work as her assistant at the library, but is ultimately minor in the scheme of the incident.
Leitmotif: Journey Medley School ~ Scarlet STAGE 4, a remix of Voile, the Great Magic Library.

The Puppeteer of the Humid Forest (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdalice.png
"Generally speaking, this is an irregular situation. But I know what's going on. In my world, there are lots of humans and youkai with special abilities. That's why being forcibly summoned to "another possibility" isn't strange for me."
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Alice Margratroid. Hailing from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist, she awakened earlier than she initially planned tonote , for the sake of resolving the Scarlet Mist incident, and to bother her world's Reimu and Marisa about not resolving it.
  • Leitmotif: Alice of Alice, a remix of Doll Judgement ~ The Girl Who Played with Peoples' Shapes.
  • Mythology Gag: The only way that this trope isn't wholeheartedly averted for this Alice is her outfit, which appears to be a hybridization of Alice's PC-98 (featuring the blue headband and her dress' design) and Windows (featuring the frilled shoulders and red ribbon around the waist) designs. This even applies to her eye color, as her eyes are green, an in-between to PC-98 Alice (who has yellow eyes) and Canon!Windows Alice (who has blue eyes... sometimesNote).
    • Call-Forward: That being said, her attacks are still references, just not to PC-98 (since many things went unnamed). Her shots are the Rainbow Wire MarisaA uses in SA (which has her partner up with Alice) and Shanghai Doll Alice uses as a familiar in IN. Her Last Word is a reimagined version of the Last Word from IN, Phantom of Grand Guignol (effectively being that spell card, just with the patterns switched around).

     The Sunlight-Seeking Flower Master (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdyuuka.png
"Only a fool would block the sunlight that's meant to fall on the flowers with such an ugly mist. You've had more than enough time to repent, so you won't get any mercy from me. I'm Yuuka Kazami. I was planning to wake up when an incident affected the flowers, much earlier than expected."
Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Yuuka Kazami who hails from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist. After awakening much sooner than she plannednote , she set out to resolve the Scarlet Mist incident, its endangering of her beloved flowers giving her impetus to act.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: She's still, well, Yuuka, but with her flowers threatened by the Scarlet Mist, she's decided to try and resolve the incident, meaning she might well now be on the same side as A6's Reimu and Marisa.
  • Leitmotif: Velvet Night Falls a remix of Gensokyo, Past and Present ~ Flower Land.
  • Mythology Gag: In a first for an A-Type character, this is almost wholeheartedly averted, even more so than A6 Alice. The only reference at all to her past is that this Yuuka has longer hair and green eyes, akin to Yuuka's PC-98 design, and her Last Word having her create a clone to fire two massive beams, similarly to one of her attack patterns in the second fight in Touhou Gensokyo ~ Lotus Land Story.
    • Call-Forward: Like Alice, her attacks are still references to the Windows incarnation present in PoFV. The shot types are her charge and EX attack, Flower Shooting and Fantastic Spring Flowers, while the Spell Cards are reimagined versions of Blossoming of Gensokyo and Beauties of Nature, the ones she uses in that game.

The Boundary of Common Sense and Absurdity (Scarlet)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eosdyukari.png
"I'm Yukari Yakumo. I'm the Youkai Sage of Gensokyo. I don't know how much you're aware of, but I'll assume you're up to speed. Anything you don't understand, you can look up later."

Universe Classification: A6

An alternative version of Yukari Yakumo who hails from the universe eternally trapped in Scarlet Mist. As is customary for Yukari, her relationship to the incident which plagues her universe's Gensokyo is a mystery, though theories have floated about, ranging from it being a part of her Youkai Expansion Project (to preserve the power of youkai) to it being an elaborate scheme for the purpose of serving as a training regimen for her world's Reimu, though none have been confirmed for certain, and only she knows the truth.

  • Call-Forward: Her shots are Apparotation Needle used by her in IN and Purple Needles of Painful Reproach, used by ReimuA in SA (which has her partner up with Yukari).
  • Lost in Translation: The spread shot's Japanese name (妖回針) is a pun; the kanji 怪 in word for youkai was replaced by homophone 回 (spin). As one of the literal translations for youkai is "mystic apparition", preserving the pun would have it be named something like "Apparotation Needle" (as the fan translation of IN does), instead of "Apparition Needle'' this game localized it as.
  • Leitmotif: Dynamite, a remix of Necrofantasia.
  • Parasol of Pain: Her Spell Card, "Bewitched Weapon: Merciful Gap Umbrella", has her attack with her umbrella.

The Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise (Cherry Blossom: Spirit)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a7areimu.png
"Strange... It's the middle of the day, and the way I was going couldn't possibly lead back home. Plus, winter's over! Hey, you. Do you know what's going on here? My name's Reimu Hakurei. I'm the Hakurei Shrine Maiden. Surely you've heard of me."
Universe Classification: A7A

An alternative version of Reimu Hakurei hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter. As with the Eternal Shrine Maiden (Scarlet), she is a version of Reimu Hakurei who failed to resolve the incident plaguing her world, with the incident essentially being a stalemate- Yuyuko has yet to achieve her goal of making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom, and Reimu has yet to defeat her.

Her strange universe classification is caused by her having an alternate counterpart in the Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise (Cherry Blossom: Dream).
  • Breaking Old Trends: She is, shared with her counterpart, The Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise (Cherry Blossom: Dream), the first A-Type unit to come as a pair with another version of herself from the same overall universe. To that end, she pioneers the A7A sub-universe.
  • Leitmotif: Good Night Song, a remix of Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly ~ Red-White.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Reimu as she appears in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom, and more specifically, her loadout is based on her Spirit Sign shot type, often referred to as Reimu-A (hence the universe classification). Her spread shot and focus shot are those seen in PCB, Homing Amulet and Hakurei Amulet, respectively, and so, too are her spell cards, Spirit Sign: Fantasy Seal -Spread- and Spirit Sign: Fantasy Seal -Concentrate-. The only outlier here is her Last Word, Spirit-beckoning Fantasy Nature, which is a reimagined version of Reimu's Last Word from IN, Fantasy Nature.

The Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise (Cherry Blossom: Dream)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a7breimu.png
"Nooo, I was so close to beating her! Tch. Now I gotta start all over! ...Huh? Is it spring in Gensokyo? Did I defeat that Saigyouji lady?! I don't get it, but if the incident has been resolved, that's all that matters! You think so too, right? Another incident resolved by me, Reimu Hakurei! ...What do you mean I didn't resolve anything?!
Universe Classification: A7B

An alternative version of Reimu Hakurei hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter. As with the Eternal Shrine Maiden (Scarlet), she is a version of Reimu Hakurei who failed to resolve the incident plaguing her world, with the incident essentially being a stalemate- Yuyuko has yet to achieve her goal of making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom, and Reimu has yet to defeat her.

Her strange universe classification is caused by her having an alternate counterpart in the Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise (Cherry Blossom: Spirit).
  • Breaking Old Trends: She is, shared with her counterpart, the Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise (Cherry Blossom: Spirit), the first A-Type unit to come as a pair with another version of herself from the same overall universe. To that end, she pioneers the A7B sub-universe.
  • Leitmotif: A Certain Late Night Capriccio, a remix of Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Reimu as she appears in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom, and more specifically, her loadout is based on her Dream Sign shot type, often referred to as Reimu-B (hence the universe classification). Her spread shot and focus shot are those seen in PCB, Persuasion Needles and Extermination, respectively, and so, too are her Spell Cards, Dream Sign: Evil Sealing Circle and Dream Sign: Duplex Barrier. The only outlier here is her Last Word, Winter-dispelling Fantasy Nature, which is a reimagined version of Reimu's Last Word from IN, Fantasy Nature.

The Ordinary Black Magician (Cherry Blossom: Magic)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a7amarisa.png
"Whoa, it's suddenly gotten warmer. It's terrible how all the spring is gathering in the Netherworld... Huh? Did I turn towards the shrine out of habit? All the snow that was piled up has melted away... No, it's like there wasn't any snow here in the first place. Hey, you there. I haven't seen you in the village before. Do you know what's going on? I'm Marisa Kirisame, a magician."
Universe Classification: A7A

An alternative version of Marisa Kirisame hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter. As with the Strange Magician (Scarlet), she is a version of Marisa Kirisame who failed to resolve the incident plaguing her world, with the incident essentially being a stalemate- Marisa has yet to defeat Yuyuko, but Yuyuko has yet to achieve her goal of making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom.

Her strange universe classification is caused by her having an alternate counterpart in the Ordinary Black Magician (Cherry Blossom: Love).
  • Breaking Old Trends: This Marisa and her counterpart are the first units in the game to have a spell card that has an identical name to a spell card from an already-existing character. In this Marisa's case, her first spell card shares the same name as A6 Marisa's first spell card, with both being called "Magic Sign: Stardust Reverie".
  • Leitmotif: Retai Spark Ex, a remix of Love-Coloured Master Spark.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Marisa as she appears in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom, and more specifically, her loadout is based on her Magic Sign shot type, often referred to as Marisa-A (hence the universe classification). Her spread shot and focus shot are those seen in PCB, Magic Missile and Magic Napalm, respectively, and so, too are her Spell Cards, Magic Sign: Stardust Reverie and Magic Sign: Milky Way. The only outlier here is her Last Word, Experimental Blazing Star, which is a reimagined version of Marisa's Last Word from IN, Blazing Star.

The Ordinary Black Magician (Cherry Blossom: Love)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a7bmarisa.png
"Get ready, ghost lady! This is my final Master Spaaaaa- Ahh! Hakkero! Stop firing, NOW! Phew, I was about to blow the whole shrine away. That would be bad luck. Huh? Is winter over? There's no way Reimu beat me! Hey, you there! Have you seen Reimu? If you see her, tell her Marisa Kirisame's looking for her!"
Universe Classification: A7B

An alternative version of Marisa Kirisame hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter. As with the Strange Magician (Scarlet), she is a version of Marisa Kirisame who failed to resolve the incident plaguing her world, with the incident essentially being a stalemate- Marisa has yet to defeat Yuyuko, but Yuyuko has yet to achieve her goal of making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom.

Her strange universe classification is caused by her having an alternate counterpart in the Ordinary Black Magician (Cherry Blossom: Magic).
  • Breaking Old Trends: This Marisa and her counterpart are the first units in the game to have a spell card that has an identical name to a spell card from an already-existing character. In this Marisa's case, she takes it to a bigger extreme than her counterpart, as her first spell card shares its name with L1 Marisa's second spell card, "Love Sign: Non-Directional Laser", and her second spell card shares its name with L1 Marisa's first spell card, "Love Sign: Master Spark".
    • She also breaks another trend: She is the first iteration of a character who appears in a game where Last Words are present to directly base their Last Word on a spell card that is NOT one of their Last Words throughout the series (Her Last Word is not based on Sungrazer or Blazing Star, but instead on Magicannon: Final Spark, her Last Spell from IN).
  • Leitmotif: LaserMari is not difficult! (inst. Guitar ver.), a remix of Love-Coloured Master Spark.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Marisa as she appears in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom, and more specifically, her loadout is based on her Love Sign shot type, often referred to as Marisa-B (hence the universe classification). Her spread shot and focus shot are those seen in PCB, Stream Laser and Illusion Laser, respectively, and so, too are her Spell Cards, Love Sign: Non-Directional Laser and Love Sign: Master Spark. The only outlier here is her Last Word, Unrefined Final Spark, which is based on Marisa's Last Spell from IN, Magicannon: Final Spark.

The Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion (Cherry Blossom: Illusion)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a7asakuya.png
"Is this a parallel world? That's not too surprising, given what I can do with my ability. However, I'm awfully jealous of how there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this Gensokyo's seasons. You there, do you know how the incident got resolved? I'm Sakuya Izayoi, a maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The never-ending winter has depleted our stocks of fuel and food, and I have to do something about it as soon as possible."
Universe Classification: A7A

An alternative version of Sakuya Izayoi hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter. She is a version of Sakuya Izayoi who failed to resolve the incident plaguing her world, with the incident essentially being a stalemate- Sakuya has yet to defeat Yuyuko, but Yuyuko has yet to achieve her goal of making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom.

Her strange universe classification is caused by her having an alternate counterpart in the Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion (Cherry Blossom: Time).
  • Leitmotif: Party Sakuya, a remix of The Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood.
  • Mythology Gag: This is Sakuya as she appears in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom, and more specifically, her loadout is based on the Illusion Sign shot type, often referred to as Sakuya-A (hence the universe classification. Her spread shot and focus shot are those seen in PCB, Jack the Ludo Bile and Jack the Ripper, respectively, and so, too, are her spell cards, Illusion Sign: Indiscriminate and Illusion Sign: Killer Doll. The only outlier here is her Last Word, Concession Murder, which appears to be an original spell.

The Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion (Cherry Blossom: Time)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a7bsakuya.png
"Those were some fine bullets, Lady Saigyouji or whatever your name is, but I'm going to win this time! ...Did I get her?! Huh? Is this the shrine? ...That's strange. If I lost, I should've returned to the Scarlet Devil Mansion. And the seasons are back to normal. Did Reimu or Marisa resolve the incident? Hey, you there, do you know what's going on? I'm Sakuya Izayoi, a maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. It's rare for this shrine to get any visitors."
Universe Classification: A7B

An alternative version of Sakuya Izayoi hailing from the universe eternally trapped in an unending winter. She is a version of Sakuya Izayoi who failed to resolve the incident plaguing her world, with the incident essentially being a stalemate- Sakuya has yet to defeat Yuyuko, but Yuyuko has yet to achieve her goal of making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom.

Her strange universe classification is caused by her having an alternate counterpart in the Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion (Cherry Blossom: Illusion).
