    Murdergame Hosts

The Shag

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cb24be75_fc46_441c_be0f_f7525422db86.png
The host of Brothers In Arms.

  • He Who Must Not Be Seen: Throughout the first Brothers in Arms game, he only shows up in voice. He only shows up to the players in person by the end of it.
  • Nice Guy: Despite being the host of a murdergame, he holds no contempt for anyone in the murderer team, and as revealed in the lore Infodump in Brothers in Arms 2, despite being raised to kill humans, he doesn't care about death so much that he just doesn't want to cause it.
  • Unwitting Pawn: In reality, he's merely a pawn of Audley's scheme to destroy the world by gaining power from the souls of the recently dead through murdergames.

Cain Veil

The host of Wolf at the Door. A reclusive werewolf hunter who, following a lycanthrope attack, becomes the survivor's only hope... but he's not going to let them go until he's ensured the werewolf curse won't spread any further. Played by Dubh Kafkaesque.
  • Hunter of Monsters: He specialises in hunting werewolves specifically.
  • I Work Alone: Most of the setting's monster hunters are affiliated with the Van Helsing Society, a powerful organisation that controls human sanctuary cities dotted across the world. Cain is a rare example of a hunter who isn't affiliated with the VHS in any capacity, for unclear reasons.
  • Silver Bullet: Deconstructed. The difficulties Cain faces in putting together and firing these, coupled with their status as one of a werewolf's few reliable weaknesses, are a big part of the reason the game is so drawn out.
  • The Stoic: Cain takes all the horrific events he witnesses in stride. This is implied to be because, having plied a violent and harrowing line of work for years, he's Seen It All.
  • Token Good Teammate: Of the Murdergame hosts. Cain is the only one who isn't somehow responsible for the killings - in fact, his main goal is to stop them by violently suppressing the cause. At most, you could say his methods are extreme, but given what he's dealing with, he has every right to be paranoid.

Planeswalker Glasya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download20210501200435_3.png
Glasya's The Turned Tables appearance, made with this picrew.
A foot-tall cat who acts as the host of God Complex. Played by unfortunatezorua in God Complex, and Some Libre in The Turned Tables.
  • Cats Are Mean: They're a vicious cat who loves nothing more than the sight of people dying.
    • During Na-Rae and Keyboard Cat's "demonstration" execution in God Complex, after the guillotine used for the execution gets jammed, they execute them for real in a gory manner. When Edgar protests on why they lied to the players, they claimed that they never lied about the demonstration.
    • In The Turned Tables, after they're voted out on Day 3, they reveal that they were the one behind the deaths of Dr. Frankie Frankenstein and Jimmy "Shoehorn" Scott, gleefully stating on how they're basically inferior murdergame hosts simply because their murdergames were done with good intentions, then proceeded to charge upon the cast with their massive rocket-powered chainsaw before getting executed.
  • Chainsaw Good: They've been seen wielding a gigantic, monstrous chainsaw that can also have rocket thrusters on their back, which they use to execute Na-Rae and Keyboard Cat in God Complex, and use to saw off walls in rage and attack the cast in The Turned Tables.
  • Depending on the Writer: Their eyes are described in God Complex as being "nowhere in sight", yet their picture in the signup thread of The Turned Tables shows eyelids, implying that they do have eyes where a cat's eyes are usually at, and at one point in the game their eyes are described to go wide, which implies that they do have them.
  • Killer Rabbit: Despite only being a foot-tall cat, they're viciously murderous and are capable of wielding a gigantic, monstrous chainsaw.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Being the one that tricked the cast of God Complex into thinking that the demonstration phase doesn't involve actual death until Na-Rae and Keyboard Cat get executed for real, it's karmically fitting that they get executed the same way they executed the former two; getting trapped in a guillotine that gets jammed mid-way, then getting messily decapitated with a chainsaw.
  • Slasher Smile: They frequently give off an unnerving grin whenever they feel like it, especially if the subject of the situation involves death.
  • Talking Animal: They're a (mostly) regular cat that can speak English.
  • Verbal Tic: Frequently the words they say will have either "y", "n", or "ny" within them; e.g "you" becomes "nyou", "I" becomes "Nyi", "So" becomes "Syo", etc.

Mr. Zecro

The host of Murder RPG. A video game developer who resides within the Ideaverse, he sought to publish his own VRMMORPG — except it was a Murdergame in reality. Played by Smily Trope 112.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mrzecro.png
Get this guy some coffee pls. Click here to see him in-game.
  • Affably Evil: Seems less evil than the other hosts, as he actually tried to be a good game host. On the other hand, after two players quit the game, he got sick enough of it to threaten to make the deepest secrets of further quitters public knowledge.
  • A God Am I: He declares himself a “MOTHERFUCKING GOD” after Chai becomes the third player to quit the game.
  • And Then What?: After the Murderer of the game quits, he had no idea what to do at that point, so decided to offer the remaining participants a way out through the Final Boss.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He has programmed in ways of making this happen, Such as memory erasure and increased damage intake in the real world via the headsets.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Has these outside of the game. May also be a result of his sleepless shift working on the game or not.
  • Precision F-Strike: He becomes so pissed off after Chai quits that he drops two “fuck”s out of nowhere.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: He may be a video game developer, but he's still an evil individual. He just wants to put his skills in making video games to good use.
  • Sleep Deprivation: Outright states that he spent 96 hours making the game itself.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: In The Turned Tables, it was revealed that he's hooked on coffee. That was what that particular murdergame's host(s) took away from him as a motive to kill.

The Counselor

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_counselor_4.png
"Good night, campers... we will be watching you." (Art by Custard And Pie)
The host of Last Summer. A sadistic Eldritch Abomination in a meat-suit who runs a summer camp alongside their right-hand man Jamie in an attempt to create their own slasher films. Played by Custard And Pie
  • Ambiguous Gender: Despite using a somewhat feminine-looking vessel, they use exclusively they/them pronouns and are only referred to with gender-neutral terms, such as "Mx. Counselor".
  • Bright Is Not Good: Keeping with the time period their game is set in, the Counselor dresses almost exclusively in bright shades of teal and orange. Despite this, the Counselor is a cruel, psychopathic person(ish) who takes pleasure in watching innocent mortals getting brutally killed, purely for their own sick amusement.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Their real name is completely incomprehensible to humans, so they are only known to the players as "the Counselor".
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: They wear a pair of thick-framed glasses with permanently glowing lenses in order to hide the fact that their eyes are just black voids. They also take joy in both watching people get brutally murdered and committing brutal murders themselves.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The campers only ever see the Counselor as a slightly-off human-like being. It's unknown what their true form looks like, but what is known is that they lack eyes and possess powers that allow them to warp time, not unlike TM Awe.
  • It Amused Me: The entire purpose for their killing game was to get the murders on film in an attempt to recreate their favorite slasher films. They even actively encourage the killers to make their murders as gruesome as possible in a bizarre attempt to "out-do" the simulated gore present in real slasher films.
  • Jerkass: Not only do they kill the players (and enjoy it), they also go out of their way to be a flat-out dick to the cast. They regularly taunt the campers, especially if they object to the Counselor's practices) and often rub deaths into camper's faces. At one point they even gave the campers funeral kazoos after the murder of Skip the dog to screw with the mourning campers.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: Has a pair of permanently-glowing glasses that, interestingly enough, actually serve a purpose: It's to hide the fact that their eyes are just endless black holes.

Family Burger Barn Guy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2021_01_06_at_100917_am.png
Yes, this is official art of him. This is actually what he looks like. (art by madface7)

Family Burger Barn Guy, usually referred to as the Burger Barn Guy or FBBG, is the main host of Burger, She Wrote. He is a demigod under his bosses, the "burger deities". He works at the Family Burger Barn, an Eldritch Location in the middle of a void that can be entered by various wormholes (which are shut off at the beginning of the game, as per usual). He is in desperate search of someone known as the "Great One", and accidentally summons 14 people into his workplace, 3 of whom are killers who aspire to sabotage his business. He appears calm and stoic at first, loyal to his job and the burger deities, but grows increasingly more annoyed and terrified of the deaths taking place in the restaurant.

  • Divine Parentage: FBBG's parents are the burger deities, who take care of him and treat him like a child, as they put him in "time out" whenever he gets emotional.
  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep": "Family Burger Barn Guy" would seem to be a job title for a burger restaurant's mascot, but that's his actual name.
  • Semi-Divine: Is a demigod under the burger deities. Which deity, if any, birthed him is unclear, although it's implied that he was created by the gods instead of birthed.
  • Stress Vomit: Does this on occasion when a corpse is found during the day phase, which usually leads to the deities giving him a time-out.

The Burger Deities

The Burger Deities are Physical Gods who act as Family Burger Barn Guy's bosses. They monitor the progress of the competitors in Burger, She Wrote. It consists of 4 members: Timeline Master Mad, Penguin Joe, Mayor McCheese, and Beard Burger Master.

  • Author Avatar: As the name implies, Timeline Master Mad is a representation of Madface 7.
  • Food God: They're named the Burger Deities, after all. They play a hand running the Family Burger Barn and providing for hungry customers.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: They make no effort to work in the restaurant during the day. They claim to have things to do, and they are on the verge of disappearing from existence, but still barely do anything except talk to the participants and perform executions.

Dr. Francine "Frankie" Frankenstein

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/582810_4j70hxyh_6.png

Dr. Frankie, as she prefers to be called, runs a theme park where visitors can interact with extinct species, from pterodactyls to dodos — the eponymous park of Escape from Zombie Park Island. Unfortunately for her new employees, she does this not only with genetic engineering, but a zombie virus that keeps the creatures alive, but can turn a regular human into a zombie. Played by Point Maid.

  • Black-and-Gray Morality: Both in EFZPI2 and 3. Despite how she recklessly endangers her employees, Frankie is at least passionate about her work in bringing extinct animals back to life and wishes to find a zombie cure. However, she faces off against people far worse than her. Like in EFZPI2, her cousin Victoria, a greedy woman who wants to shut down Frankie and her island out of spite. And of course, Blaine Crockett, an animal poacher who worked with Frankie as a wrangler and was actually in cahoots with Victoria. And of course there's EFZPI3, there's Paul Carter, a government official who acts supportive of Frankie, but in reality he was just using her to get the zombie virus to use as a biological weapon. And when he doesn't get his way, he calls in an airstrike in hopes to nuke the island.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: She is at least accused more than once of being a party girl (to her annoyance), and always seems to have a mimosa in her hand when setting out a morning breakfast buffet.
  • Open Secret: She's herself a zombie. She never explicitly says this, but during the course of the game various people seem to figure it out and say it. She doesn't deny it.
  • Science-Related Memetic Disorder: She's does Mad Science and allows her employees to be bitten and infected with a zombie virus.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Her interest in restoring biodiversity (and Mad Science) cause her to overlook the safety of her employees.

Jimmy "Shoehorn" Scott

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/myavatar_46.png

Jimmy "Shoehorn" Scott is one of the co-hosts of Life's a Beach. He is the leader of an extremist gang called the Sharks, who fight on the island of Sopal Isles, hoping to take control of the island and remove the hotel and restore the wildlife there. Played by Matthew L Mayfield.

  • Affably Evil: Jimmy is mentioned to have been a popular guy around the locals. And he is indeed a genuinely friendly guy to talk too, even going out of his way to give the people who came to the island a tour and dinner he made himself. But he is still a gang leader who wants to kill off the Crow extremists and everyone else who stands in his way.
    • The Affable part is elaborated on further on The Turned Tables, showing himself to be quite a Nice Guy to most of the people here, making a meal for the guests in day one, defending Amanda after Hercules insults hernote  , and forming a friendship with Dr. Frankie.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He does at the very least love his daughter Hyacinth, in spite of their conflicting philosophies on how to handle the conflict between the Sharks and Crows, and also his late wife.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: Both he and Hyacinth share the same goals of saving and protecting the wildlife of the island. The difference here is Jimmy is willing to kill anyone who opposes his goals while Hyacinth is the one who is wanting a more peaceful situation.
  • The Lost Lenore: Jimmmy's late wife, whose name is revealed at the end of the game as Amelia. Someone Jimmy loved deeply and is still heartbroken to this day when she died shortly after giving birth to Hyacinth, leaving Jimmy to raise her all by himself.
  • Robinsonade: 25 years prior to the game's events, Jimmy and his wife ended up stranded on an island after surviving a shipwreck. He would spend the following years living off the island, while dealing with the wife's eventual death and raising Hyacinth by himself and eventually getting into a gang war with Victoria and her Crows.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Wanting to preserve and save any wildlife on the island after the hotel that was built there is a good cause. Jimmy's methods of starting a war over while killing off several people makes him unscrupolous over his well-intented goals.
