- Follow the Leader:
- To a certain extent, the entire 'verse is several tropers independently following in the footsteps of the first game, A Game of Mafia.
- While Word of God denies that it was intended to be a fangame, Murder U is still very blatantly built on the same structure as Danganronpa, to the point where it's even admitted in-universe by the host character.
- Release Date Change: Murder in the Mountains 2 was intended to start in early February 2022, but was postponed for a few months due to the GM realizing she didn't have enough free time to run a murdergame while preparing to move to another state. It ended up starting in August, a full six months later.
- Serendipity Writes the Plot:
- The randomized nature of roles in the Werewolf (1997)-like games can result in some very interesting plot developments indeed:
- Yui Hahaoya rolling Progenitor in .EXE 2 informed not just that character's entire backstory, but a substantial portion of the first Myth Arc.
- Amy rolling Unjester in Murder in the Mountains resulted in her character developing from the existential dread of knowing her days were numbered.
- The retcon of Vivi being the Warrior of Light and not just a well-known adventurer happened because her roleplayer literally just forgot she had stated otherwise. By the time she noticed her error, enough plot had happened based on this change that it was easier to retcon it than correct it.
- The randomized nature of roles in the Werewolf (1997)-like games can result in some very interesting plot developments indeed:
- Throw It In!: The political cartoonist from The Onion is named Stan Kelly. His player mistook his name as Scott Kelly during the signup for Toontown Showdown. Eventually it was decided that the latter name would stick.
- What Could Have Been:
- Monster Smash originally had the bloodthirsty Mummy and Vengeful Ghost roles, before they were replaced with the innocent Slime Monster and Blood Beast for balancing purposes.
- The Murder-Free and Murder U host was originally intended to be Timeline Master Sylvi, as opposed to a reincarnation of Vivi Elakha. The only remaining evidence of this plan is the filename of the avatar of her◊ used during Murder U.
- Word of God:
- wingedcatgirl states that the appearance of the second Murder U host is essentially Gene from The Jackbox Party Pack (who is a gray, polygonal sphere with hair and wears glasses), but whose color is glowing white instead of grey, and has a smug instead of a dejected expression.
- The player of V, the host of Murder U and The Murder-Free Hotel has stated that this character was Killed Off for Real in The Turned Tables. While she's open to the character coming back if an interesting reason arises, there are no current plans for such a thing and no intentions of coming up with one.
