    Main Characters

Seiji Takasugi

Voiced by: Rica Matsumoto

The protagonist and a boy in his fifth (later sixth) year of elementary school. He is chosen by the Earth to command the Brave Fighters and protect the planet from Ohboss's invasion.

  • Chivalrous Pervert: In the sense that he is very susceptible to feminine charm, and will act up to impress/protect them whenever possible. The only girls he doesn't do this with are Hikaru (whom he's known for too long and finds unfeminine) and Hotaru (as his opinion of her goes from "strange" to "the one who might be more aware of the situation than me").
  • The Chosen One: As mentioned above, he was chosen by the Earth to awaken and command its champions, the Braves.
  • Heavy Sleeper: Seiji's got no less than five alarm clocks in his room, and the kid still has trouble getting up in the morning.
  • Heroic BSoD: He frequently goes through these, such as when when Sky Saber is almost killed by Seven Changer, or when Pink/Pinky are revealed to be working for Ohboss.
  • Kid Hero: Despite being a child, he is technically Da Garn's boss. He also gets a suit that protects him.

Hikaru Tosaka

Voiced by: Sayuri Yamauchi

The heroine and Seiji's neighbor. She lives next door to him and looks after him due to his family situation.

  • Accidental Kiss: Yanchar ends up falling on top of her, causing them to lock lips, much to Seiji's amusement.
  • Childhood Friends: She's lived next door to Seiji as they were growing up, and they frequently hang out.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She generally gets pretty upset whenever Seiji acts up around other girls (which is often, as he is one grade schooler who really likes the ladies).
    • In episode 39, she seems almost insulted that he seems to be more unhappy about not being able to be able to see Hotaru than her (unaware that it's more of Hotaru being a very dependable ally).
  • Tsundere: Best shown in episode 39, where she is blushing happily when it seems that Seiji is upset that he probably won't get to see her for a while, only to get angry when he rather rudely corrects her that he's mad about being powerless in regards to the invasion getting this far out of hand.

Hotaru Sakurakoji

Voiced by: Yuri Shiratori

The other heroine and Seiji's classmate. She seems to be able to sense when the Earth is being disturbed.

  • Mysterious Waif: Hotaru, a frail girl who seems to have the power to sense disturbances to Earth. While Seiji first regards her as just being strange, he comes to see her as something of comrade due to her powers, making her the closest thing he has to confident.
  • The Reliable One: Seiji comes to see her as this, as her warnings and advise, no matter how cryptic, always either makes him understand his job better, or makes him release a mistake he made.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: She knew the whole time that Seiji was the Brave Fighter's commander, but he doesn't find that out until Episode 36.

Yanchar

Voiced by: Urara Takano

A wild-looking boy who is introduced trying to take Hotaru with him. He appears to be an orphan of some kind.

  • Accidental Kiss: With Hikaru, which marks the beginning of a few events that can be mistaken as him trying to court her.
  • Overly Long Name: His full name? "Yancharan Starlett Pannar Kuricius Jakkingar Wilder XIV." Yeah.
  • Sole Survivor: He and Seven Changer are the only survivors of their home planet, which was destroyed by Ohboss.

    Other Humans

Tadashi Nemoto

Voiced by: Bin Shimada

The local policeman who frequents the cafe run by the Tosaka family. His patrol car serves as Da Garn's vassal.

  • Butt-Monkey: Poor guy can never stop getting his patrol car "stolen."
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: You'd never expect him to go head-to-head with a large group of Butcho's bio-mechanical rabbit monsters assaulting Hikaru and Hotaru, but he does and lasts a considerable while.

Haruo and Tsukushi Tosaka

Voiced by: Yoshio Kawai and Yuuko Sasaki

Hikaru's parents who run an organic-food cafe. They tend to look after Seiji while his parents aren't around.

Misuzu Takasugi

Voiced by: Rei Igarashi

Seiji's mother who works as a news anchor.

  • Parental Substitute: She acts as one towards Yanchar. He definitely appreciates the sentiment, while Seiji most certainly does not.

Koichiro Takasugi

Voiced by: Kazuhiko Kishino

Seiji's father and Misuzu's husband. He is a colonel in the military and is stationed in Australia.

  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He seems to be the only guy in the military who wants to cooperate with the Brave Fighters' Commander without trying anything underhanded.

    Brave Fighters

Guardian spirits tasked with protecting the Earth. Most of their spirits lie in the "Brave Stones," although a couple have been around for even longer, unknown to the others.

Da Garn/Darn Garn X/Great Da Garn GX

Voiced by: Show Hayami

The main robot. His spirit is housed inside Nemoto's patrol car. Refers to Seiji as team captain.

  • Arm Cannon: Da Garn X can swap his hands out with guns called the Earth Vulcans (which, thanks to the way it forms Da Garn X's arms, are technically just the Earth Fighter's guns).
  • Attack Drone: Ga Ohn's drone forms the back armor and can combines to form the Combo Rifle of Great Da Garn GX.
  • Chest Blaster: Da Garn X's Breast Earth Buster, a Wave-Motion Gun fired from his chest as well as his other attacks and Da Garn's chest missile launchers. Can invert the energy to act as a widespread Freeze Ray.
  • Combining Mecha: Da Garn combines with his support vehicles, the Earth Fighter and Earth Liner, to become Da Garn X as well as form a larger jet. Later, he can combine with Ga Ohn to become Great Da Garn GX.
  • Combo Rifle: One for Da Garn X and one for Great Da Garn GX.
  • Fire-Breathing Weapon: Great Da Garn GX's lion head.
  • Gatling Good: From Ga Ohn's pair of guns.
  • Panthera Awesome: Great Da Garn GX wears Ga Ohn's lion head on his chest.
  • Ray Gun: Also from Ga Ohn.
  • Super Prototype: Earth Fighter surviving enemy attacks without exploding before integrated by Seiji and Da Garn. It seems to be based on the unbuilt FS-X Japan jet fighter.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: From his Combo Rifle.

Sabers

Voiced by: Shunsuke Takamiya (Jet Saber/Sky Saber), Mitsuaki Hoshino (Jumbo Saber), Ikuya Sawaki (Shuttle Saber), Nobutoshi Hayashi (Hawk Saber/Pegasus Saber)

The air-focused Brave Fighters. Refers to Seiji as captain.

Landers

Voiced by: Bin Shimada (Big Lander/Land Bison), Naoki Makishima (Drill Lander), Kiyoyuki Yanada (Turbo Lander), Yoshio Kawai (Mach Lander)

The ground-based Brave Fighters. Refers to Seiji as boss.

Ga Ohn

Voiced by: Show Hayami

An ancient Brave Fighter awakened at Kilimanjaro. Refers to Seiji as chief.

    Antagonists

Redlone

Voiced by: Ikuya Sawaki

A blond, humanoid man dressed in red who serves as the first of the alien commanders.

  • Blood Knight: His response to finding Earth can actually pose a threat to him is to smile and be happy there's something there worth fighting. Though he quickly becomes annoyed that he's losing to "unrefined, ugly robots."
  • Char Clone: He's blonde, dresses in red, is a military officer, and has an air of nobility. He leaves the scene for a while after the early parts of the show, but comes back later with some new tricks.
  • Cyborg: His punishment for repeated failures.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: He is actually portrayed as the main villain for the first ten episodes, only for Ohboss to show himself to establish to the audience who the real mastermind is.
  • Oh, Crap!: He has this reaction early in the show, when his attempt to flee runs right into Violecche.
  • Palette Swap: Red Geist is a retool of Deathsaurus from Transformers Victory.
  • Transforming Mecha: Redlone's battleship, the Red Lone, is revealed to be this in episode 10. His final mech, Red Geist, also switches between a humanoid form, and dragon form.

De Butcho/Ringmaster

Voiced by: Kōzō Shioya

A large, green alien who serves as the second enemy commander. Synthesises kaiju for battle.

  • Affectionate Nickname: He gives these to his Armored Beasts, and they're all English names for women. He also calls Hotaru "Geraldine," though this comes across more as mockery at first.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He pretends to be the friendly leader of a traveling circus, when in reality he's a mean and green brute trying to steal the Planet Energy. However...
  • The Brute: Among Ohboss's subordinates, as the portly guy who resorts to brute force the most.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: In episode 20, Butcho reacts this way to Hotaru when she feels sorry for him. It doesn't last, as the same episode also hinted at her becoming his Morality Pet.
  • Fat Bastard: He is noticeably portly and is a very nasty piece of work, hence the Punny Name. At first.
  • Gonk: He's morbidly obese, bald, and has a huge nose.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Thanks to Hotaru, he is able to accept the kindness in his heart, and joins Seiji's group]].
  • Hidden Depths: His fondness for animals hints that, deep down, he may not be that bad of a person.
  • Hive Mind
  • Totem Pole Trench: Butcho after his punishment and was turned into 8 smaller Butchos.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Forms a relationship to this effect with Big Lander in the last quarter of the series.

Lady Pinky/Magical Pinky/Pink Yamamoto

Voiced by: Yumi Touma

A woman with pink hair and attire. Butcho appears to answer directly to her. Employs doll looking robots for battle.

  • Bad Boss: Prone to verbally and physically abusing her underlings when things go wrong.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She pretends to be both "Magical Pinky," the star of the traveling circus, and her own "little sister" Pink Yamamoto, who cozies up to Seiji (especially as Pink), when in reality, she's arguably an even nastier piece of work than Butcho.
  • Briar Patching: Violecche asks her what the worst thing that could happen to her could be before punishing her accordingly. She lies about how she would hate to be forced into her child form.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: When Violecche punishes her for repeated failures, she traps her in Pink Yamamoto's body. She's perfectly fine with this.

Seven Changer

Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu

A giant robot who assists the enemy commanders from time to time. He seems oddly similar to the Brave Fighters.

  • Cool Boat: His submarine mode.
  • Cool Car: His truck mode.
  • Cool Starship: His jet mode.
  • Fire-Breathing Weapon: His panther mode's attack.
  • Hero Killer: He's the one who (temporarily) killed Sky Saber, and is generally the one guy the Brave Fighters can barely hope to beat in a straight-up fight.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: His griffin mode's attack.
  • Meaningful Name: Has as many modes as his name suggests - a robot, a tank, a truck, a jet, a submarine, a panther, and a griffin.
  • The Mole: He's really a Brave Fighter from another planet commanded by Yancha, spying on Ohboss's plans in order to stop them. Sadly, because of his past actions to hide his motives, it takes a while for Earth's Brave Fighters to really trust him.
  • Panthera Awesome: Has a panther mode.
  • Tank Goodness: One of his mode.

Violecche

Voiced by: Kiyoyuki Yanada (humanoid voice), Yumi Touma (cat voice)

A male alien commander with feminine speech patterns who can turn into felines. He frequently cooperates with Lady Pinky and uses crystalline machines to attack.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Aside from the aforementioned feminine speech patterns, he makes an offhand comment about Colonel Takasugi being handsome.
  • Co-Dragons: Both he and Cyan seem to be portrayed as Ohboss's top ranked subordinates, though Cyan eventually outdoes him.
  • Female Feline, Male Mutt: While he is male, he has some feminine patterns of speech and assumes feline forms.
  • Informed Species: His more monstrous form has a wolf-like appearance and more canine growls, though Violecche is only ever compared to a cat.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Largely derived from the word 'violence', and he's frighteningly competent compared to most of Ohboss's other officers.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: He sees nothing weird in talking to Pinky when she's taking a bath.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: He switches from the form of a regular cat, to a more humanoid form in a purple suit, to a more feral feline form.

Cyan

Voiced by: Shigezou Sasaoka

The final and most fearsome of the alien commanders. He is a giant blue dragon that turns into a UFO.

  • The Dragon: He is the only subordinate Ohboss really trusts, meaning he outdoes even his fellow Co-Dragon Violecche. Bonus points for looking like a real dragon.
  • Meaningful Name: While he's more of a deeper, darker blue than the lighter blue-green suggested by his name, that color is very similar to colors found on Drill Lander and Seven Changer. The toys for those two actually use cyan plastic in those places.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Has two wings and no legs, and a rather strangely shaped head with horn and tusks.

Ohboss

Voiced by: Koichi Chiba

The entity who rules over the various alien commanders.

  • Big Bad: He is the reason the Earth is being invaded for its Planet Energy.
  • The Dreaded: Towards his minions. Redlone was planning to flee after his defeat in episode 10 when Ohboss caught up to him.
  • Eldritch Abomination: He takes the form of a freaking living storm whose face is formed from the lightning strikes and absolutely dwarfs his minions' entire ships.
  • For the Evulz: His reason for destroying planets in search for the Power of Legend? Boredom.
