    Kozue Aoba and other personalities

Kozue Aoba

Voiced by: Satomi Arai

  • Apologises a Lot: Polite to a fault, and a little further.
  • Meaningful Appearance: Two pairs of bells, which symbolises that her parents are always with her.
  • Nice Girl: There are few people nicer than her, to the point where she goes out of her way to help strangers.
  • Split Personality: See below for her other personalities. None of them know of each other's existence.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Umeboshi, a kind of pickled plum. It's very salty and sour.

Saki Akasaka

  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Red is her colour, and she's one of two personalities you should be wary of.
  • Tomboy: Of all personalities, the only one even remotely masculine.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: In case her personality wasn't obvious already.
  • Tsundere: She's initially quite mean to Shiratori, but he eventually reaches through to her heart and realises she is just as kind as Kozue.
  • Tsurime Eyes: To highlight her aggressive behaviour.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's terrified of butterflies.

Nanako Kanazawa

  • Blush Sticker: One of the defining features, which also highlights her childish personality.
  • Cheerful Child: The child personality of Kozue.
  • Nice Girl: The same as regular Kozue, but younger.

Chiyuri Midorikawa

  • Catchphrase: CORRECT!
  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: She has a lot of costumes for other people to wear if she decide they haven't dressed correctly. Or if she changes her mind.
  • Does Not Like Men: She has a severe problem with Shiratori.
  • The Fashionista: And quite aggressive about it. If you're not wearing "correct" clothing, you will soon be.

Natsume Konno

  • Innocent Flower Girl: She's extremely shy and reserved, and she has the ability to magically create flowers. If she feels love, she'll create a mass of them.
  • Shrinking Violet: No one has even heard her speak before Shiratori managed to eventually get something out of her.
  • Verbal Tic: She ends her sentences with "...kamo"

    Residents of Narutakisou

Ryuushi Shiratori

Voiced by: Ryōko Shiraishi

  • Attractive Bent-Gender: His male friend obsesses about this mysterious and beautiful "girl" he once met.
  • Butt-Monkey: As usual for protagonists of the genre.
  • Nice Guy: Probably the second nicest character in the series.

Tamami Chanohata

Voiced by: Yui Horie

  • The Ace: She learns things very quickly and possesses almost superhuman strength and athleticism.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She appears to be nice and personable, but if you cross her, or if she thinks it's funny, she's one of the three scariest characters in the series.
  • Camera Fiend: She frequently uses her digital camera for blackmail and Kozue.

Megumi Momono

Voiced by: Masumi Asano

  • Unabashed B-Movie Fan: Loves bad films. During the school festival, they see one particularly bad film, and while the group calls it "extraordinary" she's off buying merchandise.

Sayoko Kurosaki

  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Sayoko at one point practices her significant artistic talents by carving most of the trees in the courtyard into sculptures of her daughter Asami.
  • Driven to Suicide: In the manga, she tries and fails to commit suicide, in the anime this is changed to a habit of hiding under the porch.
  • Perpetual Poverty: Due to her extreme laziness.
  • Sleepy Head: She has a tendency to fall asleep at any moment.
  • Stacy's Mom: At least according to Shiratori's male friend.
  • Suicide as Comedy: Poor Sayo-chan in the manga regularly tries to hang herself, but either the branch or the rope breaks whenever she tries. This is removed altogether in the anime.
  • Sweet Tooth: She really likes youkan, but eats just about anything served or not.

Asami Kurosaki

Voiced by: Umi Tenjin

  • Catchphrase: "That's so adult!" Shows up frequently in the later parts of the manga.
  • Cheerful Child: Despite, or maybe because of her economically poor life, she's one of the most cheerful characters in the series.
  • Happily Adopted: No one can break her bond with Sayoko. Towards the end, she begins to refer to Sayoko's parents as her grandparents.
  • I'm Taking Her Home with Me!: She tends to draw this kind of reaction from a lot of people.
  • Oblivious to Love: Concerning Michiyo's feelings for her.
  • Promotion to Parent: She essentially has to be the mother, father, and daughter in her family.
  • Token Mini-Moe: The only young child in the boarding house. That doens't mean she's not more mature than her mother.

Yukio Haibara

Voiced by: Kenyū Horiuchi

  • Eyes Always Shut: He never opens his eyes, and almost always looks tired because of it.
  • Ventriloquism: He and his puppet Johnny — or Johnny and his pet Haibara, if you ask Johnny.
  • The Voiceless: In a manner of speaking. It's his puppet Johnny who speaks, often ill of him. The man actually never says the word... except for once.

Ryuusei Johnny

    Other

Occult Research Club President, Erika Vermilion

Voiced by: Shizuka Itō

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: She's creepy already, and her way of speaking does nothing to help.
  • Club President: Of the Occult Research Club Tamami is a member of. And Kozue becomes a member as well.
  • Cute Witch: In the OP she flies on a broom, and she's usually wears a cloak that makes her look like a witch.
  • Dark Is Evil: While there is a slight white edge to her eyes, they're otherwise entirely black.
  • Fortune Teller: She's capable of using Tarot cards to tell people's futures. She uses these skills during the School Festival, and for a living in the Distant Finale.
  • Holy Burns Evil: When she goes to the shrine on New Year's Eve, she's first weakened and then temporarily cleansed when she actually enters the shrine grounds. This causes her to speak normally and act somewhat messianic, which naturally freaks Tamami out. Tamami also once uses wards to prevent her from entering Narutakisou.
  • Insult Backfire: As a masochist, she enjoys being insulted, so insulting her just plain doesn't work as intended. Unless you intend to sneak off while she's relishing in the feeling of being insulted...
  • Offscreen Teleportation: During the school festival she manages to be in front of the group before and after they turn around.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: She may be the only one, with the possible exception of Shiratori's art teacher Shirogane, who can defeat Tamami, who's a lower ranked club member.
  • Reflectionless Useless Eyes: Her irises are entirely black.
