Main Characters

    Ryusho Kuki

Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa

Ryutaro's son, and the new patriarch of the Kuki Family after his father's death. He gave up all of his family's territory to the Nioka Family in exchange for Dragon Heat. He recruited young fighters from Kamurocho's youth in the hopes of restoring the fighting ring to its former glory.

  • A Father to His Men: Ryusho cares a lot about the Dragon Heat kids. Nioka describes him as the type who'd give his life for them. After Makoto dies, he drinks himself into a stupor.
  • The Casanova: So much so he has a good reputation in all the Cabaret clubs of Kamurocho.
  • Encounter Bait: Whenever Tatsuya walks around with Ryusho, enemy encounters are increased.
  • Deuteragonist: He plays the number two role in the story much like his father of the first game, being the boss of Dragon Heat in the sequel.
  • Guile Hero: He shows off his cleverness on multiple occasions throughout the game. The best example is when he confronts Nioka at his own office to blackmail him into turning against Tsurumi. He'd gathered a large crowd of civilians outside the office beforehand, so Nioka wouldn't be able to shoot him and get away with it, as the public would spread the dirt Ryusho had on Nioka.
  • Identical Stranger: Weirdly he resembles Nishitani, when Yakuza 0 would come out 3 years after Kurohyou 2.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: He uses the Self-Taught fighting style. He learned how to fight from his father taking him to see Dragon Heat fights. He teaches the Self-Taught style to Tatsuya after a short fight with him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's a rough yakuza patriarch, but he has his kind side and gives Tatsuya multiple chances to back out of helping him with the mess he's in.
  • Mr. Exposition: He provides a lot of exposition, alright.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Wears the same sharp purple suit as his dad with the same black shirt and silver necktie.
  • Unexplained Recovery: He was shot by the same sniper who killed Akita in the final chapter and was last seen gravely wounded. He shows up in the epilogue cutscene fine and watching Tomotsuā€™s fight.

    Shinji Sakamoto

: Voiced by: Kenichi Suzumura

One of the new fighters in Dragon Heat and one of Tatsuya's friends. Shinji has aspirations of joining the boxing league and fights in the Dragon Heat to earn money and reputation. After being saved from Ashura thugs, Shinji proves himself in a match to Tatsuya. However his dreams were nearly cut short due to Shinobu beating him in a street brawl and leaving him comatose for a good duration of the game. He comes back after receiving rehabilitation.

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: After receiving treatment at a clinic set up by Ashura and being manipulated by their lies, he becomes bloodthirsty and aggressive. Tatsuya takes a near fatal blow from him to get him back to his senses and he spends a good part of the game rehabilitating.
  • Youthful Freckles: Is one of the Dragon Heat boys, and sports freckles.

    Makoto Yashiro

: Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama

One of the new fighters in Dragon Heat and Tatsuya's friend. He joined the Dragon Heat to help support his orphanage until the Ashura arrived to challenge the fight ring's members. A lady's man, he gains the romantic interest of Saeko and comes to her rescue when Ashura kidnaps her from her bar. He would die in the rescue, found barely moments with the bomb wired to Saeko rearming as he takes bullets meant for Saeko as Tatsuya come too late to keep him alive.

    Saito Tamotsu

Voiced by: Kenji Nojima

One of the new fighters in Dragon Heat and one of Tatsuya's friends. Tomotsu is considered the weakest link for the fact that he has one of the worst losing streaks in the Dragon Heat at 9 losses and zero wins. Face with possible expulsion, his tenth match comes up as he is soon caught between love and finding his own inner strength.

  • Break His Heart to Save Him: In love with a hostess who is a part of one of Asura's scams and only saw him as a target. Ryusho finds out and has her lie to Tomotsu about moving away from Kamurocho.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After his 10-loss streak, in the game's epilogue he finally wins a match in Dragon Heat.
  • Tell Me How You Fight: A meek young man who fights using the Jiu-Jitsu style. A very common martial art used for self-defense. Itā€™s also a weak martial art in the professional fighting world if not complimented with another art and has bad punching and kicking power in-game. Shown with how Tomotsu fails to really do any damage to Oba.

     Yuta Mikami

Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki

One of the new fighters in Dragon Heat and one of Tatsuya's friends. Yuta has a lot of issues with his dad, believing that he only cares about money at the expense of his family.

Ashura

Ashura is an Osaka-based criminal organization and underground martial arts circuit led that serves as a rival to Tokyo's Dragon Heat. They serve as the main antagonistic force in Kurohyo 2. The owner of Dragon Heat, Ryusho Kuki, makes a bet with the owner of Ashura, Yasuo Akita. If the fighters of Dragon Heat lose to Ashura's Eight Legions, he would hand over the deed of Dragon Heat.
    In General
  • Always Someone Better: Asura seems to frame themselves as the better fighting organization with their big building, popular selection of fighters and a flashy fighting ring that's built with a cage that can run electricity and fire, held up by gold and silver pillars and big video screens constructed everywhere even on the walkways to the cage; no doubt they can afford all of these thanks to their abundance of money from Ryo Nozaki. Dragon Heat meanwhile is on the decline, and is contained in a humble office building with an equally humble ring that's been used for years. But ultimately it's the fighters of Dragon Heat that win the battle between the two.
  • Bigger Is Better: Not only is Asura's headquarters bigger than Dragon Heat's, but the fighting ring is built deep underground with a long tunnel that trucks can drive through. The fighters on Asura's payroll are also big built men that tower over the average proportioned Tatsuya.
  • Jerkass: Besides Akita and Nozaki not a single one of them have a redeeming quality.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: Despite being based off of The Eight Legions of Buddhism, Asura's Eight Legions more or less fit the 7 deadly sins archetype.
    • Pride: Shinobu Okita, a smug snake proud of his fighting ability, to the point of assaulting multiple people working under Dragon Heat including Shinji.
    • Gluttony: Shosuke Oba, A Fat Bastard who is also a glutton for money as he regularly scams people using his loan shark business, even driving them into the hands of organ traffickers.
    • Lust: Ichiro Tanaka...just look at the guy in his leather get-up.
    • Sloth: Kaz Kakizaki, an MMA fighter who had to retire for a year from a car accident. Despite being an MMA fighter he only throws punches.
    • Greed: Masaru Shinohara, the man only cares about getting paid. Meteor Suzuki also fits the Greed archetype with his arms dealing racket despite being a famed pro-wrestler.
    • Wrath: Futa Kinjo, a remorseless killer and runs a bomb squad for Asura.
    • Envy: Ryo Nozaki, envious of the rich and envious of Tatsuya who defeats every fighter sent his way.
  • Sequel Escalation: Asura's Eight Legions are made up of assassins and combat sports champions famed around Japan or the world. The last game's fighters were normal martial artists who never made it big bar three in the out-of-shape former Karate champion Fujimoto, former French Legion mercenary Aramaki and former world champion boxer Tetsuji Shima. A high school teacher who is an Aikido blackbelt on the side? Cute. Here's a champion Kickboxer, a champion Pro-Wrestler, a Makuuchi (top-rank) Sumo wrestler, 2 assassins, 2 heavyweight MMA fighters one being a champion in America and the boss of the organization himself.
  • Viler New Villain: Unlike the fighters of Dragon Heat who were mostly made up of civilians, Asura's Eight Legions are criminals, with full knowledge they are assisting a criminal organization. Some members are put in charge of running Asura's rackets like illegal arms deals and a loan sharking business. The least criminal member would be Masaru Shinahara, who just seems to be a professional MMA fighter on Asura's payroll and even then he's a massive Jerkass.

    Ryo Nozaki

: Voiced by: Jun Kaname

The true leader of the Ashura Gang in Kurohyou 2. An orphan who grew up with Makoto at an orphanage, he became friends with Akita and his gang who formed the underground fight ring at Ashura. His troubles began when his girlfriend and childhood friend Shizuka died because of Tsurumi Tadashi, who had bribed a doctor to rearrange a liver transplant operation meant for her in favor of his own son, and began plotting revenge.

  • Battle Aura: Besides his heat aura, he has a very unique one that looks like multiple golden tails flaring out of him.
  • Big Bad: As the leader of the invading Ashura Gang, he's this for Kurohyou 2.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: Shizuka's death as a result of Tsurumi's scheming. It taught him that money and power is how you get ahead in life.
  • Driven to Suicide: He shoots himself in the head after Tatsuya makes him realize that his rage towards Tadashi was really his own self-loathing over the things he did to save Shizuka, which she would never have approved of.
  • Heart Broken Badass: Shizuka's death was part of the reason he was willing to go so far to plot his revenge
  • Leitmotif: The ending theme for Kurohyou 2, Born to be Wild.
  • Obfuscating Disability: He fakes being blind, but can actually see perfectly fine.
  • Phony Psychic: Ryo has a reputation for being a fortuneteller with 100% accurate predictions. He really has Ashura arrange things to make his prophecies come true.
  • Shockwave Stomp: What he does in heat mode. He'll get ready, before performing multiple backflip stomps that cause massive shockwaves that will stun Tatsuya, and he'll follow it up with a heat action if he succeeds.
  • Xanatos Gambit: He has several plans in place to ensure Tsurumi's downfall. First, he arranges things so that Tatsuya is in a position to shoot Tsurumi, though this fails because Tatsuya ultimately relents. Then Ryo shows up at the scene himself with Tsurumi's son Daisuke in tow, and pressures Daisuke to shoot his own father. After Tatsuya intervenes, Ryo's final plan is to release the footage of the rooftop confrontation to the public, ensuring that Tsurumi's reputation is ruined.

The Eight Legions

    Yasuto Akita

Voiced by: Noboru Takachi

The founder and leader of the Ashura Gang in Kurohyou 2. Working with the Nioka Family, he makes a bet with Ryusho: if his fighters can't beat Ashura's Eight Legions, then Dragon Heat is theirs. The leader and the last fighter of the Eight Legions.

  • Affably Evil: He never forgets to have an amiable chat with the heroes before the match starts and often congratulates Tatsuya for defeating members of his Eight Legions. Eventually he realizes Ryo's plans must be stopped and begs Tatsuya to stop him.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: The face and founder of Ashura, and he's the final fight Tatsuya needs to win against them.
  • Disco Dan: Fights using the ancient Greek martial art style Pankration.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones:
  • Father to His Men: It's saying something when his men go on a wide manhunt for Tatsuya and friends to avenge Akita, blaming him for their boss' assassination.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Was initially just an aimless ex-con who founded Asura as a martial arts circle with his friends in a manner not too different to Dragon Heat, but after being blamed for a murder of his boss at his auto-shop job he lost all hope in life. Ryo turned his hopelessness into greed and under the two men's command Asura became a criminal organization.
  • Heel Face Doorslam: After his defeat he realizes Ryo must be stopped and was about to tell Tatsuya what Ryo is planning until he was shot by an unseen gunman, but he did give Tatsuya a final hint in stopping Ryo with his parting words.
  • Leitmotif: PANTHER IN THE STORM
  • Noble Top Enforcer: In contrast with most of the Ashura, he's a respectful fighter who never badmouths his competition. He pushes Tatsuya to stop Ryo after he realizes the scope of Ryo's plans.
  • No Shirt, Long Jacket: His default outfit is an open varsity jacket with no shirt underneath.
  • Villainous Respect: Has always given Tatsuya proper respect after winning his Dragon Heat-Asura matches. Hell, even his one of his damage soundbytes is him saying "Yaru janai ka", which is a phrase of praise in Japanese.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: You'd be hard pressed to find a scene he wasn't shirtless in.

    Shinobu Okita

Voiced by: HAN-KUN

Ashura captain and famous kickboxer, and the one responsible for crippling Shinji. The first of the Eight Legions.

  • Bad Ass In A Nice Suit: Be damned if he doesn't look nice in his get up outside of the ring.
  • Creator Cameo: His voice actor, HAN-KUN, is one of the vocalists of the game's main theme BORN TO BE WILD.
  • Extremity Extremist: Downplayed. While he's kick-focused, Okita occasionally throws punches.
  • Flat Character: Besides crippling Shinji he doesn't really do much in the chapter he's featured in unlike the members of the Eight Legions after him. He's just a minion of Akita to fight against.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Crippled Shinji with a heel kick to the head. Tatsuya uses a similar kick to take him out.
  • Lean and Mean: While very athletic he is the skinniest out of the Eight Legions.
  • Leitmotif: Stealth Endurance
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: His in-game character bio describes him as having a small stature, he is around Tatsuya's size.
  • Pride: A kickboxer who is proud of his fighting ability.
Okita: That wasn't good... You're a professional, but you're not very tough.
  • Purple Is Powerful: His shirt outside of fighting is purple as well as his shorts and Pra Jiad.
  • Signature Move: A spinning heel kick, he defeats Shinji with this move and it's his deathblow in battle.

    Meteor Suzuki

Voiced by: Go Yamane

Real name Masakatsu Kijima, Meteor Suzuki is a Luchadore who has won heavyweight championships in Mexico. He comes to Sotenbori to work under Asura, selling smuggled air guns. The second of the Eight Legions
  • Arms Dealer: Works as an arms dealer of modified air guns fitted to shoot ball bearings which does hurt the target but nonlethally, which helps him not attract police attention and he can just claim his buyers modified the air guns themselves to get himself off the hook.
  • But Not Too White: His skin is tanned brown. Must be the mexican sun.
  • Delinquent Hair: A shaved head with a red dyed mohawk and mullet down the middle.
  • Evil Counterpart: He's the second fighter Tatsuya has to fight in a ring and a pro-wrestler at that brings similarities to the 2nd boss of the first game Hyuga Sho, a pro-wrestler. Hyuga was a bit rough but ultimately is a good man who cares about people. Meteor Suzuki however, is devoid of Hyuga's qualities, selling weapons to vulnerable highschoolers and seems to be a total Jerkass outside of the ring.
  • Expy: Of Hyuga Sho from the first game, given they both are the second fighter Tatsuya has to fight in the ring, both are pro-wrestlers and if it wasn't obvious enough Suzuki makes a CallBack by sharing Hyuga's "Can you hold out for 30 seconds?" line before his fight.
  • Gratuitous English:
    • Meteor!
    • Ouch! note
  • Greed: He sells guns to high school students in Sotenbori despite being a famed pro-wrestler.
  • Green and Mean: Wears green pro-wrestling pants as well as his mask before he tossed it. Along with the green shorts-wearing Shinohara they both are associated with money and greed.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He defeated the former Boxer Shima in a fight. Tatsuya, a friend of Shima, saw fit to knock Meteor Suzuki out with a Boxing-style straight.
  • Leitmotif: meteor
  • Manipulative Bastard: He targets vulnerable bullying victims to sell his guns to, which earns him the ire of Tatsuya.
  • Masked Luchador: His ring persona is a masked wrestler, he tosses it before his fight with Tatsuya, revealing himself to be the arms dealer from their previous encounter.
  • Pro Wrestling Is Real: His style of Pro-Wrestling is apparently good enough for live combat seeing as how he defeated the Boxing champion Shima with ease. Ryusho even warns Tatsuya of Suzuki's Lucha Libre locks and throws as if it was an actual martial art and not a form of entertainment.
  • Shadow Archetype: Safe to say Meteor Suzuki is supposed to be Kurohyo 2's equivalent to Hyuga Sho, but Darker and Edgier and devoid of Hyuga's virtues to match the new tone of the game. Their styles couldn't be any more different, Hyuga is an MMA fighter with a veneer of Pro-Wrestling and was fighting in that flashy way when he was under hire for the evil Nioka family; once the Nioka family betrays him by threatening his loved ones, he abandons his Pro-Wrestling in favor of a serious MMA style. Meteor Suzuki on the other hand, is all flash in his fighting style and barely throws anything an MMA fighter would use, he's also a criminal and revels in it.
  • Tattooed Crook: Has the Asura tattoo on his neck and flashy tattooes not too unusual for a pro-wrestler to have around his arms.
  • Truth in Television: Yes, there are Japanese Pro-Wrestlers who perform in Mexico, take for example Shigeo Okumura.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: He's a Luchador fit for real combat, and he uses a Hurricana if you get caught by him in heat mode.

    Shosuke Oba
A former Makuuchi (high-rank) sumo wrestler and CEO of OS Productions, an organ trade, prostitution and loan business disguised as a talent agency. The third of the Eight Legions
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Beats Tamotsu so easily he's ready to fight for a second match immediately after the first no worse for wear.
  • Fat Bastard: He likes to lure in innocent people aiming to be famous with his talent agency, charging them insane start up fees and forces them to take out loans they can't pay back. He sends his male debtors to South America to get their organs removed for the black market and puts his women debtors in the sex industry. His large size only adds to his evil.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Was a bouncer for a nightclub after being shafted from his sumo career. Seeing girls from the nightclub job gave him the idea to run his talent agency scam.
  • Heavy Voice: You can really hear the fat around his vocal cords everytime he talks.
  • Kaleidoscope Hair: In cutscenes his hair is blonde or white. In-Game it's jet black.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: His neck is broken by Tatsuya's chokehold. For extra points it's the same chokehold Tomotsu tried to beat Oba with. It's also implied he'll lose his talent agency since Akita only lets him run it as long as he doesn't lose fights.
  • Large and in Charge: Is the boss of a loan racket outside of fighting.
  • Leitmotif: Large Stage
  • Manipulative Bastard: He runs a so-called talent agency that lures those who wants to make it big into debtors. A common scam he likes to run is to have a girl pretend to be a victim of his scams so the men who tried to play hero for her become his debtors as well.
  • Mighty Glacier: His Sumo fighting style makes him the slowest out of the Eight Legions, but Ryusho notes he is probably the one with the highest raw power.
  • Shout-Out: For Oba's deathblow he borrows an attack from a fellow Capcom Sumo wrestler E.Honda, particularly his Sumo headbutt move.
  • Tattooed Crook: Those in Asura usually have a tattoo of the god around their neck, Oba has tattoos around his back and chest akin to a yakuza's Irezumi. Tattoos in Japan and especially in Sumo are seen as taboo, fitting for a disgraced Rikishi like himself.
  • Use Your Head: His heat action starts off with him replicating a Sumo match by charging into you headfirst, which is accurate when Sumo wrestlers start their match, but it's mainly accidental unlike Oba doing it to cause some damage. His deathblow, Human Torpedo, is also him launching at you headfirst like E.Honda's Sumo headbutt move.
  • Villainous Glutton: Despite his size he's not really seen eating, but he's a glutton for his indulgences in money, woman and liquor. His constant money borrowing and his hedonism got him kicked out of his Sumo stable. Now he's running a business content with ruining the lives of innocent people for money.
  • You Are Fat: Tatsuya is quick to call him names related to his weight. Calling him things like fat, fat bastard, fat money swindling bastard, and fucking pig.
  • Your Size May Vary: He's gargantuan when he fights against Tamotsu but that's just how the boy saw him in his dread. He towers over Tatsuya but in-game he's only about a head taller.

    Ichiro Tanaka

Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu

An infamous assassin and former member of the Kuki clan. Now he is under the employ of the Nioka clan and Asura, out to get revenge on his former family for excommunicating him. The fourth of the Eight Legions.
  • Ambiguously Trained: His style is Military Martial arts which might explain his Combat Pragmatism, however nothing is said in the story about if he was in the military as his past in unknown and his take on the style resembles nothing like the Military Martial arts style the player uses besides the heat move.
  • Ass Shove: One of his grabs is an Atomic Drop, a wrestling move where the victim gets a knee up their ass.
  • Asshole Victim: Chapter 5 is a Wham Episode caused solely by his hand with his murder of Kubo and assault on Yuta's father. Safe to say he won't be missed when Ryo kills him.
  • Beard of Evil: With hair and his bushy beard he looks like a villainous Jim Henson.
  • Bondage Is Bad: It was already bad enough for him to be an infamous hitman responsible the many events of Chapter 5, seeing him dressed in leather bondage clothes in his Asura fight only compounds his evil factor.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: His BDSM fetish aside, he's an efficient killer, so much so the Kuki family disowned him out of fear. Under Asura's employ he does everything he was assigned to do perfectly except for defeating Tatsuya.
  • Campy Combat: Tanaka Ichiro is probably bar none, the oddest character you'd ever have to fight in a Like A Dragon game. The gimp from Yakuza 6 has the same BDSM aesthetic but at least he fights you with a serious style; Tanaka Ichiro is just a fighting oddball, he fights like he's putting on a show at a strip club.
  • Carpet of Virility: His weird sex aesthetic is already weird enough, being hairy in all the wrong places with his choice of clothing forcing you to see most of it is the weird cherry on top.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: He stabs Tatsuya with a knife hidden on his person in battle, for this and for many other things he is responsible for Tatsuya gives him the most painful defeat out of the Eight Legions by frying him alive on Asura's electric cage.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Some of Tatsuya's opponents try to get the one up over him by sending people to injure him before his fights or recieve insider information about his weaknesses, Tanaka not only does the former but during the fight he cuts the crap entirely and brings a knife to a barehanded martial arts contest. He also favors groin attacks in battle.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: He giggles everytime you hit him with a strong attack.
  • The Dreaded: The Kuki family, the Nioka family, Asura and the Chinese mafia alike knows what he's capable of, and once you fight him you'll know why he's so feared.
  • Expy:
    • You can suppose he's one of Majima given their likings towards knives and tendency to crash into things with trucks, but their personalities and fighting styles can't be anymore different besides being generally unorthodox.
    • His fashion, movements and antics during battle resemble Voldo.
  • Fan Disservice: When it's finally time to fight Tanaka Ichiro he ditches the chaste raincoat he was wearing for most of his chapter and what awaits you is a disgusting hairy old man in bondage gear. Now that's just sexy isn't it? It absolutely does not his attacks are terribly obscene and during his heat move, the camera likes to zoom onto him groping his crotch and his orgasmic face.
  • Four Is Death: While he is the fifth boss overall he is the fourth member of the Eight Legions to be sent out. An infamous assassin being number four, how subtle.
  • Groin Attack: His entire fighting style is based around groin attacks. Groin attacks make up his basic attacks, his grabs, his deathblow, his heat action, and an inversion in one his moves where he attacks you with his groin.
  • King of the Homeless: He commands a bunch of assassins disguised as the homeless to try and kill you, given how he looks as homeless and dirty as they are he might as well be this trope.
  • Leitmotif: nameless
  • Messy Hair: His long hair looks greasy and unkempt in cutscenes.
  • Mundane Solution: Tired of dealing with his annoying counter stance/grab? Just hit him with a quick chaged attack while he does his cartwheels and send him flying across the stage.
  • The Nameless: Ichiro Tanaka is a very basic Japanese name isn't it? It isn't his real name, he was christened that by Ryutaro. He has no name and not even the Chinese mafia have a name for him, referring to him as "That guy". It's even the name of his Leitmotif.
  • Orgasmic Combat: His in-game soundbytes are grunts, squeals and giggles whether it's you hitting him or him hitting you.
  • Perpetual Smiler: A smile is plastered on his model. Even if you hit him with a heat move you can see he's smirking ear to ear.
  • Sadist: Getting caught by his heat move causes you to get hit with the Military Martial Arts red heat move, only that the usual animation is modified to include a few scenes of him pulling out a knife and stabbing the nape of your neck with it. What makes it sadistic is that he takes a few seconds to show you the knife and see the panic in your face before stabbing you.
  • Sex Is Violence: Most of his attacks are indecent with him either choking you, attacking your groin, attacking you with his groin, Baiting you into an attack by shaking his ass at you or shoving his knee up your ass.
  • Shaking the Rump: When his health is low he starts taunting by wiggling his ass at you, if you attack him while the animation plays he counters and activates his heat move, if for any reason you want to stand close right in front of his ass while the animation plays he grabs you and activates his heat move once the animation ends. You're kind of forced to keep your distance when he's shaking the rump.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Nobody, not even the snarky Only Sane Man Tatsuya, says anything about what Tanaka Ichiro is wearing.

    Kazu Kakizaki

Voiced by: Yasuhiro Yukimaru

Kazuya "Grizzly with a Golden fist" Kakizaki is a famed professional MMA fighter fighting in American MMA organizations until his sudden retirement for 3 years due to a drunk driving incident. Thanks to Asura and it's doctor Ryo Nozaki he has made a full recovery, becoming even stronger than before his accident. The fifth of the Eight Legions.
  • Animal Motifs: He is likened to a bear due to his large stature. His theme song is also named "Grizzly Golden Fist" and his heat action is names "Grizzly Rush."
  • Blatant Lies: He makes Shinji think his accident 3 years ago was a cover-up and the real story on his injury was that he was ganged up on by Tatsuya and Dragon Heat, even though Tatsuya has shown Shinji multiple times before that he's not that kind of person. Shinji believes his lies hook and sinker.
  • The Brute: The largest and buffest one out of the Eight Legions, he's even bigger and more muscular than Oba.
  • Extremity Extremist: Despite being a US MMA champion and his style is listed as MMA he throws only haymakers. It's unknown if it was a result of his accident or this was always his style in the ring.
  • Genius Bruiser: Downplayed. He manages to have Shinji on Asura's side due to his manipulations, enough for him to try to kill Tatsuya and Ryusho, but only because Shinji wasn't in the right headspace at the time and because he wasn't very bright to begin with given how he believed Kakizaki's terrible lies about Tatsuya.
  • Kick the Dog: He manipulates Shinji into attacking Tatsuya and instigate a fight between them, which would lead Shinji into death as any blow to the head to the still-recovering Shinji would be lethal and would make Ryo's prophecy come true. Unluckily for him Tatsuya has realized Asura's plans and decided to not fight his friend.
  • Leitmotif: Grizzly Golden Fist
  • Lightning Bruiser: Given the fact that he's using the God Arm style, his punches come out fast, hit hard and have a random chance to deal severe damage to any body part they hit.
  • Manipulative Bastard: The sole reason for Shinji's Faceā€“Heel Turn, leading Shinji to have Tatsuya and Ryusho jumped by goons and try to attack them himself.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Despite his huge size and musculature, he can be one of the few bosses that can have his heat actions combos blocked. Just to be aware bosses that are way smaller than him like Okita can easily break guards with their heat action combos.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: His heat move is Hard Arm's red heat, which is a bunch of haymakers to the head that starts increasing in speed, capping of with a Megaton Punch.
  • Truth in Television: In real MMA organizations some heavyweights actually are Extremity Extremists similar to Kakizaki, relying on strength and punch power alone take for example Tim Sylvia, Derrick Lewis and Francis Ngannou. Also like Kakizaki the former two have heavy losses under their belts due to fighting those with a wider set of skills much like Kakizaki losing against Tatsuya.
  • Screaming Warrior: A low pitched bellow, which can be heard after he does his heat move on you.
  • Smash Mook: Thankfully after the odd and tedious Tanaka Ichiro, Kakizaki has a very simple fighting style. With his Hard Arm fighting style he swings for the fences with no kicks. His unique heat mode attack is also very simple to deal with, given its extremely long windup, gap between first and second blows that make it easy to parry, and the fact that you can block all the blows.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He exclusively throws simple punch attacks that do heavy damage due to his size but can easily be dodged and countered with spammable step attacks.

    Masaru Shinahara

Voiced by: Takahiro Fujimoto

A Brazilian-Japanese Jiu-Jitsu specialist and one of the best Heavyweights in Japanese MMA. He is a former member of Asura who was expelled for being a dangerous loose cannon, but he's back in their roster due to a promise of a big payday. The sixth of the Eight Legions.
  • But Not Too Foreign: He is half-Brazilian, half-Japanese.
  • Defiant to the End: After being beaten by Tatsuya the whole fight he counters Tatsuya's finishing punch into an armbar and injures Tatsuya's arm, too bad Tatsuya knocks him out immediately after.
  • Famed In-Story: Fellow BJJ practicioner Tamotsu is his fan and Yuta knows of him, stating even one who isn't familiar with the fighting world would know Shinahara.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Akita has little patience for him, only hiring him because he wants Tatsuya defeated that badly.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Ryusho notes if Asura brought such a famous fighter like Shinahara in means they're really serious this time around and it's going to get harder from then on.
  • The Grappler: A Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist, he fights mainly with catch counters and grapples throughout his fight, but he likes to put in some Muay Thai striking techniques in the mix.
  • Gratuitous English: Showtime.
  • Greed: He only sees green, when Ryusho thinks of postponing their fight for a personal emergency Akita states it would take around 100 Million yen to placate Shinahara.
  • Green and Mean: Wears green Vale Tudo shorts in battle which could represent his greed.
  • Humiliation Conga: After Shinahara loses the match by getting knocked out, he still demands cash. Akita not only stalls his pay, he calls him a loser and knocks him out a second time.
  • Leitmotif: Primitive Intellect
  • Only in It for the Money: He was initially expelled from Asura but bought back in to fight in the Dragon Heat-Asura feud. It seems he cares little about the organization and only chases where money goes.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Zigzagged. At the time the story involves him he might only be fighting for Asura for the money, but he is a former member of the Eight Legions and saw no problem to be among the ranks of sex traffickers and murderers. He's not really a saint in his public fighting career either given his poor sportsmanship in severely injuring surrendering opponents.
  • Shadow Archetype: With Cho Koumei of the first game. Both are half-Japanese villains and the 7th boss of their games, both looking for money and fame from fighting. Unlike Cho, Shinahara stays villainous even after defeat.
  • Significant White Hair, Dark Skin: He has naturally dark skin given his Brazilian blood but where he got the white hair from is in the air.
  • Sore Loser: Bitterly swore revenge against Tatsuya after their match, and attempts to attack his boss Akita after the man calls him a loser. It did not work out for him.
  • Token Minority: Much like Koumei Cho of the first game, Shinahara is the only mixed ethnicity member of the Eight Legions with his Brazilian heritage.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: White hair and a greedy Jerkass.
  • Worf Effect: When he tries to attack Akita the man knocks him out with 2 hits, but to be fair Shinahara was just knocked out earlier.

    Futa Kinjo

Voiced by: Takatsugu Awazu

Asura's Sadistic kamikaze captain and leader of its' bomb/suicide squad. Skilled in Ryukyu karate, he serves as the Final Boss of Makoto's chapter. The seventh of the Eight Legions.
  • Afro Asskicker: Wears a brown afro, quite a silly look for a serious villain.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He might look ridiculous with his afro and his outfit, but don't underestimate him. He's still an incredibly skilled karateka who's not afraid to murder whoever he wants.
  • Disco Dan: He dresses like he's from The '70s and he uses an archaic style of Karate in battle.
  • Double Meaning: He serves as Asura's kamikaze Captain(特攻隊長, Tokkō Taichō), which literally means he's the head of the suicide squad but the term kamikaze captain can also mean the chief of a delinquent gang who acts as a spearhead during a gang war, which he also is given he controls a delinquent-like faction in Asura.
  • Hero Killer: He shoots and kills Makoto who was Taking the Bullet for Saiko.
  • Kaizo Trap: You fight him immediately after a lengthy battle with his goons. Let's hope you brought alot of healing items with the little allowance you were given that chapter.
  • Karma Houdini: His punishment for murdering Makoto is...to get knocked out in a fight. Granted Tatsuya makes sure he looks more beaten up more than any other of the Eight Legions but it's a pretty tame punishment for such a heinous crime.
  • Leitmotif: Struggle Gold Castle
  • Mad Bomber: He is the leader of the so-called suicide squad for Asura even though he bails before the bomb explodes. What makes him madder is that the bomb's timer is just for display and the real time his bombs are set to explode are completely random.
  • Meaningful Name: Kinjo in Japanese means Gold Castle, which might be a reference to Osaka's underground gold castle from Yakuza 2.
  • Playing Possum: He pretends to be defeated in Makoto's chapter to get the drop on him with a gun.
  • Razor-Sharp Hand: His heat move has him pierce your body with two Karate Nukites (Spearhands).
  • Recurring Boss: You fight him twice, once with Makoto and a second time with Tatsuya.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: He and his gang are dressed in purple and black but during the fight he wears a red and black Karate gi.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: He never raises his voice despite being a killer and explosives expert.
  • Time-Limit Boss: You have a minute 20 to defeat a watered down version of him as Makoto. It's one of the hardest segments of the game.
  • Unblockable Attack: His death blow attack that leads into a heat move is completely unblockable.
  • Villainous Respect: He admits Makoto is strong, which is the only compliment he says he can give him.
  • Willfully Weak: He was intentionally not taking his fight with Makoto seriously. You fight his all out form in the second fight.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government

    Tsurumi Tadashi

Voiced by: Ryūzaburō Ōtomo (Kurohyou 1), Ren Osugi (Kurohyou 2)

The head of police in Kurohyou 2, just like Munakata, he was an assistant commissioner for the syndicate investigation division. Worked with Nioka to spearhead Project Pegasus, an attempt to corner the Kuki entertainment racket for Nioka. Indirectly responsible for the death of Shizuka, Ryo's lover and childhood friend. He is also part of the investigation group of the Champion Street Arson, the very same one which killed Tatsuya's mother

  • Corrupt Cop: He takes bribes, uses crimes to his advantage and the police force he uses is no better than thugs. He even has his own personal group of assassins to eliminate targets he deems a threat.
  • Driven to Suicide: After Ryo reveals what he did over hacked cameras with the final coup de grace shooting Ryo in cold blood and revealing how he had committed manslaughter by denying Shizuka the liver transplant.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He's this for both Kurohyou games, being part of the team that killed Tatsuya's mother and the reason the Ashura Gang is invading Kamurocho in Kurohyou 2.
  • Villainous Breakdown: He's left a pathetic wreck after Ryo exposes his corruption over hacked cameras. After Ryo is beaten, he jumps off the roof rather than get taken in for his crimes.

    Jun Saeki

  • Animal Motifs: When he gets into a fight, he suddenly starts acting like a snake, licking his lips like one.
  • Ax-Crazy: While Saeki is mostly calm and level-headed in most situations, he becomes psychotic once he gets into combat.
  • Bald of Evil: There isn't a strand of hair on his head, and he turns out to be a lunatic when given the chance to fight.
  • Climax Boss: He is fought right before Ryo Nozaki.
  • The Dragon: Serves as this to Tsurumi Tadashi.
  • Leitmotif: Cold Warrior.
