Naval Base Kitsap/Bremerton

     Sarah Gale
  • Best Her to Bed Her: Due to blaming Kirishima for a particularly nasty prank note , Gale snuck up on Kirishima at night, while the Fast Battleship was on full alert and looking for Gale, and nailed her with a full clip of paintballs, with every single paintball hitting a different part of Kirishima's body, every single shot actually corresponding to a weak point on her hull. Kirishima summed it up as follows.
The Yeoman had expected for Kirishima to be at least annoyed or, more likely, angry. What she had not expected was for Kirishima to be staring at her awestruck. "You... Snuck up on me in the night... When I was at full alert and looking for you... Then you fired on me, hitting all my weak spots..." Suddenly a blush spread across Kirishima's face as she held her cheeks in her hands, her glasses askew. "O-oh my.~"

Naval Station Pearl Harbour

     Missouri (BB-63)
Iowa-class Battleship. She is the defacto flagship of the shipgirls defending the State of Hawaii.
  • Dynamic Entry: During the rescue of Sendai and Maya, she dove off her transport plane and landed feet first on the head of the Abyssal Princess attacking the two shipgirls. All 55,000 tons of her.

United States Navy Shipgirls

This section includes American shipgirls not stationed in Japan.

     Enterprise
The most decorated American warship of WWII and the reason why people think of the U.S.S. Enterprise when they think of Star Trek.
  • A-Cup Angst: Does not being reminded that her chest is as flat as her flight deck.
Tilting her head, Yamato made a pointed look at Enterprise's chest, or rather lack of one, before she answered. "Perhaps you have not kept as... 'abreast' as you might think."
Much to Yamato's amusement, the chopsticks slipped from a shocked Enterprise's fingers. The Carrier then startled some and glared at Yamato. "Did you just make a crack about what I think you did?"
  • Affectionate Nickname: Calls Yahagi "Cuddly" and Yamato "Princess".
  • Commonality Connection: Was able to bond with Yamato over two things they shared: A desire to protect their sisters this time around, and a severe distaste at being used for propaganda instead of battles.
  • No Sense of Direction: On a trip from Yokosuka to Kure, Enterprise somehow drove to Shikoku even with written directions (though it was written in Japanese).
  • Those Two Guys: A close friend of the Japanese battleship Yamato. Frequently bickers with the Japanese battleship.

     Hornet
  • Airstrike Impossible: Thanks to the legendary Doolittle Raid, she is regularly seen launching B-25 bombers from her flight deck. This proves especially useful when dealing with Installation-type Abyssals.

     New Jersey
Based on the character from Belated Battleships.
  • Berserk Button: Communism and "Poi," the former due to her Cold War service and the latter thanks to her not knowing what it is and no one able to explain it to her.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Tends to swear alot.
  • Madness Mantra: Jersey had one thing to say about the infamous Day of the Living Dess.
Jersey:"Can't stop watching... Dessbote will get me... can't stop watching... Dessbote will get me... Don't want to be Dessbote, like being Murican... Can't stop watching... Dessbote will get me..."
  • Those Two Guys: Anytime she is around Musashi or Gangut, shenanigans ensue.

     Saratoga
The third aircraft carrier of the US Navy.

     "Toga"
Saratoga's original battlecruiser configuration.

     William D. Porter
Nicknamed "Willie D.", the infamous Fletcher-class destroyer is a natural-born, whose older brother is dating Iowa, much to Willie D.'s exasperation.

     Taylor
One of the 175+ Fletcher-class destroyers built in WWII.
  • Angel Unaware: When in Japan, Taylor is often accompanied by a large white 'dog', which she has named Sunny. Although there are a couple of people who have recognized Taylor's 'dog', nobody's told Taylor she's walking around with Amaterasu.
  • Berserk Button: Attempts by Marina Militare officers to recruit her, due to her bad history with the Italians.
  • Insistent Terminology: Taylor does not have a boyfriend. She just has a really good friend, whose hugs she likes. This did not stop him from accompanying her to Haruna and Rose's wedding.
  • Mythology Gag: She looks a lot like the character from Worm, thanks to a long-running fanfic crossover with Kantai Collection. Most of her sisters like pointing out the resemblance; even to the point where the first version of the Shipgirls Online forum was created solely to tease her about it. Taylor does not appreciate the comparison.

     South Carolina
BB-26, the US Navy's first Dreadnought, and as such the Mother of All American Battleships.

    Rhode Island
A gutted hulk of a Re-Class that was secretly taken in by the US Navy, and rebuilt as an American warship.
  • Clone Angst: Rhode Island. Short-lived and subverted in that 1) she's a repaired brain-dead Abyssal, 2) the issue isn't about her identity, but more if she would be fighting her 'kinfolk' or not.
  • Easy Amnesia: Yes and no. After all, you'd lose all of your memories too if a random artillery shell gutted your brain-case.
  • Expy: Let's see... Deep Southern twang, wears a Stetson, has a "dog," respects honesty... Hey there Applejack!
  • In Love with Your Carnage: Rhodey had a front-row seat to Mika letting her Muramasa nature take over during a fierce battle off Saint Kitts. Let's just say once the area was clear of enemies, there was an impromptu makeout session between the two of them.
  • Red Right Hand: Going by her blonde hair and normal-colored eyes, you'd never take her for a former sea demon... Except for the giant tail coming out of her spine... That is also a dog.
  • Sweet Home Alabama: South Carolina was her main influence during her rebuild. This really should have been expected.

     Alondra David/Pillsbury
A Brazilian-American retired US Marine, FBI Special Agent, and the shipgirl of the destroyer escort USS Pillsbury. Delilah and later Wilma's primary contact with the US Government.
  • By-the-Book Cop: An upstanding member of the FBI, and is the shipgirl who arrests Master Raven for kidnapping. Also regularly gets called on to help with SWAT work, since she is a one-ship bulletproof wrecking crew despite being a comparatively weak World War Two warship designed for escort and antisubmarine rear area work.
  • Oh, Crap!: As one of the US Government members serving on the front line of dealing with MACUSA, is regularly called to brief her superiors about the status of events related to DELTA GREEN (the secret plan to integrate MACUSA). After Delilah is presumed dead during the Battle of Kingsport, she is the person who has to report on that nearly catastrophic fiasco...
Inside the briefing room her eyes widened briefly as she automatically read the rank of the man at the head of the table. Four stars, Marine uniform. General Jones, National Security Advisor to the President. SecState French, CIA Director Jackson, and Attorney General Zigler were present too.

    Fuck me. It's the Principals.

She sat down and waited to be called. That helped with the weakness in her knees at least.
  • Secret-Keeper: is one of the Muggles who knows about the Magical World and also all of Delilah's secrets.

     Trieste
The shipgirl spirit of USS Trieste (Deep Submergence Vehicle Zero), a purpose built research submarine bathysphere.
  • Actual Pacifist: Unlike every other shipgirl seen, she is totally unarmed and has no offensive capability. Even Maruyu has learned how to fight effectively, but not Trieste.
  • All-Loving Hero: Marine biology fascinates Trieste and she's just as happy discovering bacteria cultures in a seafloor brine seep as she is observing a sperm whale feeding on a giant squid.
  • Badass Pacifist: That said, she also happily dives to the bottom of the ocean miles deep where the water pressures are lethal, there is no concept of light, minimal oxygen, and she is alone in the abyss knowing that if anything goes wrong no one can help her. And she wouldn't have it any other way. Her fellow USN shipgirls think that she's a weird freak loner (accurately enough). They also enormously respect her for the courage to go where literally no one has gone before. She spent over a week underwater holding her breath while shifted to a girl just to document her limits for science (and nearly passed out from anoxia before she requested to be pulled from the pool by her safety team).
  • Brainy Brunette: Short dark hair, reading glasses, and devours marine biology and ocenaography textbooks and research papers for 'light reading entertainment'. She's currently working on a double PHD in Marine Biology and Oceanography. Is also a certified master diver for SCUBA and deep sea rigs.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Challenger Deep Princess. CDP is the embodiment of the unknown secrets of the oceans, while Trieste's life mission is to explore the unknown depths of the seas and shine light upon them for the joy of discovery. Also, Trieste was the first entity that CDP ever became aware of when Trieste dived to the bottom of the Challenger Deep in the 1960s.
  • Made of Iron: Or in her case, a five inch thick solid steel sphere observation gondola designed to resist 1.25 metric tons of water pressure on every square centimeter of her hull seven miles down in the Challenger Deep. She's Nigh-Invulnerable as a result as one of the toughest shipgirls ever built.

     Pennsylvania
The spirit of USS Pennsylvania
  • Berserk Button: Hurting her escorts. When the destroyer Kiyoshimo intercepted a torpedo meant for her, she completely obliterated the offender.
  • Fantastic Racism: Was not fond of the Japanese due to them sinking her escorts while she was still dry-docked during the war. Key word, was.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Initially was more than a bit of a Jerkass to the destroyer Kiyoshimo. After Kiyoshimo took a torpedo that was meant for her, Pennsylvania donated a large amount of her own battleship-grade steel to help repair Kiyoshimo, even though it meant damaging herself.

     Des Moines
The summoned spirit of the name ship of her class of big-gun heavy cruisers, the final evolution of US Navy World War Two cruiser design.

  • Defrosting Ice Queen: While outwardly obsessed by being the perfect warship, Des Moines has a heart of gold underneath, mot notably seen when she meets Sabrina, and spends time playing plushies with her much younger sister to be there for the little girl.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Her relationship with her younger sister Newport News. Des Moines is straight-laced, spring wound, and obsessed with doing her duty as a warship by fighting in naval battles, compared to her much more laid back and chill younger sister Newport News who is trying to get her to loosen up and learn there's more to life than duty and combat. Underscored when Des Moines has to suddenly deal with Sabrina, who is still traumatized from losing her family.
  • Jumped at the Call: Summoned her rigging on Davy Jones and threatened him with her guns when she heard the call to return. He let her go — right into a slack period in the stalemated Abyssal War with no major combat operations ongoing.
  • More Dakka: At full rate of fire when ripple firing her auto-loading turrets, she is delivering an 8" shell from her main battery every 2/3s of a second. This is reflected in her rigging by her turrets being built into a minigun. She can take on quite a few battleship designs with quite good chances of winning by sheer radar-guided firepower.
  • The Unfavorite: Her motivation for returning early. She was designed to take advantage of the lessons of cruiser warfare in World War Two, but was launched after Japan surrendered, then was the victim of budget fights between the US Navy and US Air Force during the early Cold War that sidelined her for service in Korea and Vietnam by sending her to the Reserve Fleet to rot away at anchor for decades before being sunk in Blood Week without firing a shot in anger. So she aches to prove that she is worth the effort to build and is not a failure, which she finally did as one of the heroes during Saint Kitts by taking down a Heavy Cruiser Princess and then a Battleship Demon solo while participating in the hottest part of the big-gun fighting.
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: Due to her massive... bunkerage, it's all to common for her blouses to become undone and the twins fly free.
  • What Did I Do Last Night?: After Saint Kitts, Le Fantasque drags Des Moines off to the Eternal U Boat Party's Norfolk hub to celebrate their victory. What happened next isn't shown on screen, but the morning after, Newport News walks in on Des Moines hung over and sleeping on the floor of her apartment while wrapped in bedsheets and cuddling an equally naked Le Fantastaque.note

     Newport News
The summoned spirit of the third Des Moines-class cruiser, the last all-gun heavy cruiser launched by the US Navy.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Unlike her sister, she was reactivated for the Vietnam War and fired her guns in anger, along with having two decades of service life. As a result she has a lot fewer hang-ups about her worth and is quite easy-going. Instead, she has made it her life's mission to teach Des Moines how to girl rather than just become the perfect warship. This becomes very relevant when the Des Moines sisters find out that USS Salem's been found.

Royal Canadian Navy

     Diana Lombard
The Commander of Canada's shipgirl program
  • The Captain: Managed to save her ship, CFAV Endeavour and crew from sinking on Blood Week despite it being an unarmed Oceanographic research ship
  • Seen It All: Having encountered many strange things in her career, from magic to the existence of many mythical creatures, few things can surprise Admiral Lombard.

     Bonaventure
Canada's last aircraft carrier in the 20th Century, she returned to serve the RCN with an alarming hobby.
  • BFG: Despite being a light carrier, her rigging features a modified C 1 A 1 D Battle Rifle, which can fire at full auto.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: Despite being a Light Aircraft Carrier, she is able to operate early jet fighters in sea states that would make larger fleet carriers hurl.
  • Running Gag: Has a habit of trying to launch planes that she has no business carrying. It only gets worse when she is hanging out with Hornet.

     Habbukuk
The personification of Project Habbukuk, a crazy plan to build a massive carrier out of Pykrete.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: Habbukuk's preferred tactic: She disguises herself as an iceberg, her escorts hide behind her, and when Abyssals come close to find cover, they spring the trap.
  • Necessary Drawback: Being made out of Pykrete, she prefers staying in cooler climates.
  • Running Gag: Enjoys slushies to the point that multiple convenient stores have run out of slushies anytime she is in town.

     Haida
  • The Ace: One of Canada's most veteran shipgirls, and had the most kills of any Canadian Warship in World War II
  • Incendiary Exponent: Has a reputation of setting enemy ships on fire.

     Rainbow
The Oldest Canadian Warship, normally assigned to train shipgirls and humans with her experience.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Having spent most of her career as a training cruiser, she knows how to push recruits and trainees to the limit.

     Tandy Ferguson
A member of the Fleet of Laughter, who joined the Canadians after marrying the XO of HMCS Regina. Recently ascended as a Battleship Princess, making her the first abyssal princess to serve in a human navy.
  • Horned Humanoid: After her ascension as a princess she has a pair of horns, similar to a young moose. However, it tends to get in the way when moving around, much to her annoyance
  • Moose and Maple Syrup: Dresses in Flannel, stockings with Canada geese and maple leaf embroidery, and her rigging has hockey gloves and a James Vorhees-style goalie mask. Her official title is Canadian Battleship Princess

St. Thomas Naval Base

A naval base located in the Caribbean defending the approaches to Puerto Rico.

     Liutenant James Hunter
A Liutenant Junior Grade who transferred to St. Thomas to track weather patterns in order to anticipate Abyssal attacks.
  • Badass Unintentional: Wound up helping Estelle prevent Sirius from sinking during the trip to St. Thomas. Naturally, this earned him much respect. Later helped fight off an Abyssal raiding party, leading to...
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Had been having a supplement-enhanced threesome with Estelle and Sirius on the aforementioned night, meaning that during and after the battle, Lieutenant Hunter was quite erect under clearly hastily thrown-on clothes, hence his in-universe nickname being "Lieutenant Full Mast". The Marines who arrived had a pretty good idea as to what had been going on....
  • Hold the Line: James, Estelle, and Sirius were a party of three who had to hold off an Abyssal raiding party until reinforcements could arrive. They actually did so well that by the time said reinforcements arrived, all they had to do was rescue the defenders and clean up the remnants. This was helped by Estelle's safehouse gun safe having automatic weapons and grenades on hand plus a nasty set of lethal anti-intruder wards.
  • Right Man in the Wrong Place: His life to date. He happened to be on a cargo ship alongside Estelle when a badly injured and out of control Sirius rammed it and started to sink. Then when Sirius woke up and declared her love for him (and wouldn't take 'No' for an answer), Sirius then maneuvered him into a threesome with Estelle, leading to a Navy Cross and an embarassing nickname the morning after when he woke up in the base hospital.
  • Sherlock Scan: Saw a news report on Winter Storm Elsa and instantly pegged it as an Abyssal storm.

     Estelle Maria Barmejo du Chasteler
See The du Chasteler Family/Butterknife Bastards

     Sirius
The spirit of the Dido-Class light cruiser HMS Sirius, sent down to St. Thomas on escort duty.
  • Badass in Distress: Took heavy fire on the trip to St. Thomas, resulting in Etelle and James literally being forced to save and resuscitate her. As for the badass, took down a magic using Abyssal War Demon leading the invasion with some help from Estelle's abilities.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The Foolish one to Dido's more mature responsible sibling, her klutziness leaving a number of messes her sister has to clean up.
  • I Owe You My Life: Has sworn herself to James and Estelle as their loyal maid after they saved her. In this case 'Maid' is the public role; in reality, she's winding up as a co-wife in all but name to them.
  • The Klutz: Is quite clumsy when it comes to being a maid. Thankfully, she is far more competent as a shipgirl.
  • Rescue Romance: How their mutual relationship started after Sirius took shell hits that knocked out her rudder and bridge and plowed into the transport ship that she was escorting. Estelle and James hauled her aboard before she could skink and saved her life with CPR and a healing potion.
  • Spanner in the Works: Is her M.O. Maneuevered James and Estelle into a relationship with her, defeated City Consuming Princess' invasion of Saint Thomas thanks to hauling her loves to Estelle's beach house for a threesome, and most recently killed an invisible Abyssal assassin from sinking HMS Formidable at a critical point during the Battle of Saint Kitts by literally tripping over her at flank speed.

     Dido
The spirit of the Dido-Class light cruiser HMS Dido, also assigned to Saint Thomas with Sirius.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Has been showing signs of interest toward Lt. Hunter and knows about Estelle.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The Responsible one to Sirius' emotional hijinks. She also holds this role for many of her other younger siblings such as HMS Cleopatra, although not Hermione who is also Responsible.
  • Ninja Maid: Like Sirius, she dresses in a Royal Maid uniform. Also packs a medieval claymore and is quite willing to use it on Abyssals.

MACUSA

Characters who are part of the Magical Congress of the United States — Wizarding America.
  • Ancient Conspiracy: Their attempts to hide away from the 'No-Maj' were noted as some of the most extreme in the Wizarding World.
  • Benevolent Conspiracy: The Winters Network, a group of witches, wizards, and nonhumans formed after the Civil War to work toward full civil rights for sentient magical nonhumans along with peaceful integration with the No-Maj world.
  • Government Conspiracy: Several. Most notably the magical Research and Development branch TOTEM morphing into its own power base, and the formation of the secretive Magical Information Bureau from the Aurors to monitor the non-magical world after the Civil War.
  • Fantastic Racism: Played straight with sentient magical creatures such as the Sasquatch and jinn while surprisingly subverted by MACUSA's treatment of Native American magical tribesmen compared to historical actions taken in the 1800s.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Quite a bit. For example, you have MIB with their in-house R & D shop ALADDIN, as well as the primary magical research arm named TOTEM. The escape plan for magical America uses tokens code named PILGRIM to transport the holder to a secure bunker in Alaska code named MAYFLOWER. The secret US Government plan to integrate MACUSA is called DELTA GREEN although this is deliberate to help conceal the truth by using the tabletop game's existence as a smoke screen in case the name gets leaked accidentally.
  • Secret War: Several that have raged in and around MACUSA historically. Notable examples include the internal political fighting and black operations between TOTEM and the Winters Network, other wizards versus the Order of Hermes, the magical sides of the Civil War and then World War Two, and most notably the fight between MIB and Magical Russia during the Cold War. In addition, the violently anti-magical Scourer terrorists pursued and hunted MACUSA, including doing such things as bombing a children's hospital.
  • Wainscot Society: By far the most paranoid and isolationist of any of the Wizarding World major powers. Until 1970, any contact with the Muggles was actually illegal under Rappaport's Law and Muggle-born children such as John Halsey were kidnapped to be raised magical while their existence was covered up.

     President Quahog
  • Big Bad Wannabe: The president of MACUSA. Actually a puppet of his ruthless and ambitious Chief of Staff.

     Athena Laird
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Master Raven of TOTEM. The two are allies and secretly lovers.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: The Chief of Staff for President Quahog, and the true power behind the throne.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Much more clever and ruthless than the dim-witted and somewhat amiable Quahog.

     Senator John Timmons
  • Delightful Dragon: Talk show host on the Wizarding Wireless, MACUSA Senator from Colorado, current head of the Bureau of Magical Species Preservation, political ally of Jèzebel de Breuil... and secretly a Western Dragon in disguise with his own schemes running.
  • Shout-Out: is an expy of Dunkelzahn from Shadowrun.
  • Smart People Play Chess: Has a long running game of chess going with Jèzebel and a recurring motif in his appearances.note

     Master Raven/Yance Blinken
The head of TOTEM and one of the most powerful mages in America.
  • Above Good and Evil: His philosophy of magicals being superior and the quest for magical understanding being the be-all and end-all of human existence.
  • Ancient Conspiracy: He heads one, TOTEM itself is organized like a mystery cult with its members masked and hooded during meetings and the higher one goes the more access to knowledge and power is given.
  • Big Bad: Leader of TOTEM, and responsible for several horrific actions that have been taken to pursue knowledge by freeing TOTEM from the shackles of oversight by 'lesser minds'. Also has a long-running Secret War with Jèzebel's Winters Network who stands in his way and attempts to curb TOTEM's worst actions.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While many of the things that TOTEM does and did were morally reprehensible, beyond the pale, and equal to the worst of the Nazis or Imperial Japanese (magical or mundane), TOTEM also did greatly contribute to victory in World War Two with their breakthroughs in magical shipbuilding and later the Cold War with tools developed to fight the Magical KGB, plus other benevolent actions such as reverse-engineering Vanishing Cabinets for production in the US and developing some tools to fight the Abyss and evacuate large numbers of magicals to safety.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When finally outmaneuvered and mousetrapped by Jèzebel to be arrested for his kidnapping and Mind Rape of Louise Winona.
The figure at the right hand of Jez lowered her hood and Yance shook and paled at the sight of Delilah de Breuil. A moment later, the one on Delilah's other side lowered her hood to reveal red hair literally formed of flame and burning emerald eyes.

"Impossible!!" He screamed as he looked between the familiar faces of Auror Deliah De Breuil and Auror 'Emma Cohen'. "You're dead! The Death Ledger was updated!"

Delilah's smug smile held no mercy and her voice was full of savage joy as she shook her head. "Not dead, Raven. Nor is Shark, and nor are all your records from Kingsport. If and when you see that albino maniac in jail, remind her that she should have taken the plea bargain that I offered her when I caught her sacrificing No-Maj to power her mad schemes." The revolver leaned forward and her cold green eyes glittered. "That said, I'd like you to introduce you to someone. Mika?"

The towering figure standing beside her grandmother lowered the hood to reveal the familiar face of a Native American shipgirl.

"L-lakotah—-" Yance choked out in a horrified voice.

     Adept Grouse/Ezekiel Golightly
A senior member of TOTEM and their expert on curses and Morrigan's Select.

     Jèzebel de Breuil
Muramasa-no-Norimune's old lover, mother of Delilah de Breuil. Retired head of MIB.
  • Big Good: The head and founder of the Winters Network and the guiding light behind efforts to reform and improve MACUSA.
  • The Chessmaster: One of the greatest in MACUSA history who set up a Benevolent Conspiracy as part of forming MIB and then wields enormous influence and power from the shadows after 'retiring' from Director of MIB to play politics in 1896.
  • Handicapped Badass: Walks with a heavy limp and uses a cane (which doubles as a backup wand) after a near-fatal Dark Curse hit her hip during a near-successful assassination attempt thanks to some prominent conservative MACUSA families getting their ties to the No-Maj Southern slave trade exposed in 1866. As for the assassin, he found out the hard way that Jez carried a No-Maj derringer pistol up her sleeve just in case she ever lost her wand....
  • Heartbroken Badass: After the breakup with Norimune and her subsequent realization that she was pregnant, Jez wore mourning black for the rest of her life.
  • My Greatest Failure: Her accidental break-up with Norimune where she seriously hurt the nodachi spirit. Jez feels incredibly guilty, and took steps to rein the worst of her manipulative and controlling tendencies, leading to...
  • My Greatest Second Chance: how she viewed Delilah's birth, as a way to make up her failure to help Norimune by raising a daughter that Nori would be proud of. Jez succeeded in turning Del into a hero that Nori is incredibly proud of, and Delilah was even able to get her parents back together to start addressing their past failures.
  • Names To Run Away From Very Fast: The Black Widow. Inspired by her mourning black clothing, her ability to weave webs of influence and blackmail like a spider, and the fate of several of her enemies over the years.
The image of Jèzebel nodded and vanished to return the still life to normal. Ehren chewed her lip while they waited and finally spoke, "Tante Jèzebel is a formidable foe."

Jackie laughed darkly. "She isn't known as the Black Widow of MACUSA for nothing. I happen to know that among other things buried down here she has a way to dispose of bodies. Used it a time or three meself on her behalf."

     Delilah de Breuil
See Harry and the Shipgirls Europe: Butterknife Bastards

     Louise Winona
Delilah's first great love, the mother of Mika de Breuil-Soctomah. Born in 1855, died in 1892, gave birth in 1996 (it's complicated)
  • Badass Native: Full blooded Oglala Lakota (Sioux), Medicine Woman of White Buffalo Calf Woman, MACUSA Auror and member of the Winters Network.
  • I Die Free: Committed suicide-by-rebelling-sasquatch to protect the secrets of her love Delilah from exposure and discovery after being magically conditioned to serve TOTEM as a Manchurian Agent in the Winters Network.
  • Magical Native American: Met Delilah at the wizarding school of Ilvermorny and graduated alongside her, plus took secret lessons in Chinese magical martial arts on the side from Wei Ying. A warden of the magical side of the Black Hills until her death in 1892.
  • Secret-Keeper: Both to Delilah (she was the person the revolver trusted the most before Zamarad won her heart) and to the Lakota as one of the people responsible for keeping a major extinction level magical threat magically bound in the Black Hills (alongside her lover, her lover's niece Ehren, and eventually her daughter as Wardens).
  • Timey-Wimey Ball: Her personal timeline is greatly complicated by her kidnapping. In brief, in 1892 while a week or so pregnant with Mika (unknown to her or Del) Louise was kidnapped forward in time to 1996 by TOTEM to be turned into The Mole by using magical brainwashing techniques developed to infiltrate the magical USSR. TOTEM was barred from using those on ''current'' MACUSA citizens, but the geas only applied to people alive at the time of the geas application, which Louise technically wasn't. After escaping TOTEM with an incomplete level of brainwashing controls applied, Louise gave birth and hid out in an Indian reservation in Maine while trying to figure out how to warn her loved ones without betraying them. Then in 2005 she was tracked down by TOTEM again, subdued and the brainwashing was finished by them. TOTEM sent her back to the week after her disappearance in 1892, just in time for the Great Sasquach rebellion. Unable to warn Delilah that she was compromised, and knowing that she couldn't hold out for long before betraying her loves and ideals, Louise picked a fight that she knew would kill her, changing the timeline from the original one when she was merely crippled then and took a desk job before dying peacefully of old age at the end of World War Two.

     Zamarad
See Harry and the Shipgirls Europe: Butterknife Bastards

     Auror Wilma Halsey/Adept Goshawk
Del's protege in the Corps of Aurors who was headhunted by TOTEM for her skills in magical transportation magics. Also the Natural-Born shipgirl of the uncompleted carrier USMS Shenandoah Valley, a 'paper ship' design variation on the Wasp/Yorktown concept.
  • Action Mom: Mother. Auror. TOTEM's top specialist in transportation and flight magics. Carriergirl who leads a task force composed of some of the MACUSA Navy shipgirls who came back. The Mole for the Winters Network inside TOTEM.
  • Dark Secret: The fact that she is a Natural-Born shipgirl from her friends and her coworkers, some of whom would view her as a half-human abomination or in the worst cases a test subject.
  • Good Parents: Does her best to be one while raising her orphaned son Jeffrey Halsey and adopted daughter Sabrina Rappaport.
  • Ironic Echo: When Wilma was pregnant with Jeffrey, Del 'gifted' her a bottle of alcohol while trolling her with how she was unable to drink it when pregnant. Wilma returns the favor when she meets Del and realizes that Del is carrying twins.
Eyebrow twitching, the Revolver spirit gave her a shake of the head and a thin smile, “No, nothing’s wrong, Wilma.”

Chuckling, Wilma’s eyes gleamed a little bit, “Ah, that’s good then. This is good firewhiskey you know, very good.”

If anything, that caused Del’s eyebrow to twitch even more, “I see… that is good to know.” Then, she took a deep breath before releasing it and giving Wilma a glare, “You are a real bitch, you know that?”

Voice dry, the Natural Born Carrier gave her mentor a look, “When I was pregnant with Jeff, I remember someone coming over with a bottle of fine brandy… and then giving me an innocent explanation that she forgot about how I could not have alcohol. That was followed by her deciding to drink it in front of me.” Tone turning smug as did her expression, Wilma raised her glass towards a sour looking Del, “Payback is a bitch, Del, and so am I~”
  • Mama Bear: Extremely protective of her Little Man and concerned with his safety. The more so since Jeffrey's father died in an Abyssal attack.
  • The Mole: Elects to become one that monitors monitor TOTEM for the Winters Network rather than flee to safety with the rest of TOTEM and risk a catastrophic crash of the Statute of Secrecy that will kill innocents in MACUSA.
  • So Proud of You: Said to her three times on screen. In order, by her 'big half sister' Enterprise after Saint Kitts when the Yorktowns tell her that their sister has lived up to their historical heroic legacy, by the faerie of her great-grandfather and namesake Admiral William 'Bull' Halsey, and then by her mentor and teacher Delilah de Breuil.
  • Struggling Single Mother: Has to spend long hours on the job as an Auror, member of TOTEM, and also a shipgirl, so cannot spend as much time with her children as she wants. Worse, she is concerned that some of TOTEM may attempt use her son as a hostage to coerce her.

     Auror Charles Deckard
One of the most senior Aurors of MACUSA; Delilah de Breuil's mentor and friend.
  • Always Gets His Man: Has been an Auror for almost a century and a half and is one of the best (and most respected) policemen in MACUSA. He will not stop in his pursuit of evildoers even 80 years after he was forced to drop a case thanks to political pressure. note
  • Combat Pragmatist: Despite being a very powerful, extremely experienced, and highly trained wizard, is not afraid to use nonmagical tools to get the job done. This started due to being a son of a Select, but it waned when he began learning magic and how effective it could be compared to what he had learned of No-Maj techniques. Then he had a near-death experience alongside Delilah fighting a horribly cursed murderous creature in New York during 1881 that was extremely resistant to magic but not Delilah's bullet to the brain. The day after killing the monstrosity and covering up what had happened to preserve the Masquerade, Charles went firearms shopping while leaning on Delilah to teach him how to shoot at her level.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With his protege Delilah De Breuil. This began when they were both bullied children in Ilvermony's Thunderbird House because he was a Mage Born of Muggles and she had rumors about her Disappeared Dad and resulting irregular birth out of wedlock.
  • Old Master: Decades older than Dumbledore but still leading an FBI SWAT team from the front during the bust of TOTEM's top necromancer. The only reason he didn't kick in the door personally was that he had a shipgirl available to breach the locked lab.
  • "Open!" Says Me: When faced with a door enchanted against lock-picking "the physical door was wood, the lock brass. Both yielded to Charles' boot."
  • Papa Wolf: While he himself is childless, he pulled himself out of technical retirement to personally search for his brother's last descendant who had gone missing, presumed dead, during a humanitarian mission off the coast of Africa.
  • Secret-Keeper: Had a fair few suspicions about Delilah being a member of the Winters Network, her relationships with first Louise Winona and then Zamarad, and that there there was something up with her antique heirloom revolver (which he never brought up).

     Cuthbert Rappaport
Sabrina Rappaport's eight year old brother.
  • The Atoner: Is shaping up to be this once he grows up so he can make it up to Sabrina from being left behind by the No-Maj.
  • My Greatest Failure: Letting go of his younger sister's hand during the family's emergency evacuation to the MAYFLOWER bunker, which resulted in her being left behind.

     Sabrina Rappaport /Salem
The five year old daughter of the Rappaport family. Also the Unawakened Natural-born shipgirl of the Des Moines-class heavy cruiser USS Salem (CA-139)
  • Badass Adorable: She's five years old, blonde haired, cute as a button, sweet, innocent, and carries around a collection of plushies (Miss Purr, Mr. Alleygater, and Miss Wags) who are her 'bestest friends'. She's also the unawakened spirit of a US Navy big-gun heavy cruiser design who can fling an 8" shell at you every 2/3 a second with lethal accuracy when ripple firing her turrets. As a result of being a shipgirl spirit she is a frighteningly powerful (albeit currently untrained) witch who instinctively threw up a Shield Spell which tanked the 5" HE shell which demolished her family's home.
  • Happily Adopted: By Wilma after being functionally orphaned when the Abyssals attacked her home town of Salem, Massachusetts.
