The Extreme Dinosaurs

    General

     T-Bone

  • The Leader: As a T. rex, T-Bone naturally ends up being this.
  • Mighty Roar: Has an impressive, lion-like roar to go with his status as the team's leader and a T. rex
  • Terrifying Tyrannosaur: He's a Tyrannosaurus rex, and when up against enemies, he's quite the formidable opponent.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: T-Bone is often depicted as being the most affected by being displaced in time. "Inevitable Eggs-Tinction" had him reminisce on what the prehistoric world was like, while in "Safarisaurus" he was shown to be the least enthusiastic about the dinosaur safari park, as it reminded him of home too much.

     Spike

  • Berserk Button: Don't tamper with his salsa recipe if you know what's good for you.
  • The Big Guy: Moreso than the other Dinosaurs, Spike is essentially the muscle of the team.
  • Blood Knight: A PG-rated version, but Spike enjoys fighting to the point where he finds being outnumbered more fun. "Monstersaurus Truckadon" shows him split from the team because his fighting obsession was getting in the way of stopping the Raptors.
  • Book Smart: He's apparently memorized enough of the Quadranian lawbook to be able to quote passages from memory, usually when he needs to distract Chedra and allow the others to escape.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: His wrestling name is "Terror Dactyl" - which, as he is quick to point out, isn't even accurate:
    Spike: But I'm not a pterodactyl, I'm a Triceratops!
Big Al: Eh, who's gonna know the difference?
    Spike: Lots of people!
  • Handicapped Badass: He has a broken horn, which would severely impair an animal like Triceratops in real life. It doesn't slow him down for a second.
  • Green Thumb: He grows his own chillis to use in his salsa recipe. One episode even has him asking Chedra to mind his plants while he's out.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: A PG version, at any rate. "Inevitable Eggstinction" shows that Spike doesn't believe that Raptors could ever be good, although he changes his mind later. "Weresaur" has him outright state that he preferred the Weresaur when he was a reptile.
    Chedra: Spike!
    Spike: Okay, so I'm prejudiced!
  • Ship Tease: With Chedra on multiple occasions.
  • Temper-Ceratops: He's a Triceratops and the Hot-Blooded one of the group.
  • Use Your Head: Spike's main method of attack is charging into things head-first. Given he's a Triceratops, this tends to be pretty effective.

     Stegz

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Played with. "Jinxed" shows Stegz believes that horoscopes and psychics are fraudulent, but "Bones of Contention" seems him unable to come up with a better explanation than "fossiziled ghosts". And all this in spite of him being a talking humanoid Stegosaurus.
  • Anachronism Stew: Stegz came from the Late Cretaceous period, despite the fact that Stegosaurus went extinct at the end of the Jurassic period. And while Velociraptor and Pteranodon did live in the Late Cretaceous, they still went extinct before Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops.
  • Bedhead-itis: Stegz' back plates visibly droop while he is sick with the Jurassic Flu.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Has the dryest wit of the Dinosaurs and is prone to making sarcastic comments.
  • Genius Bruiser: Stegz is the smart guy of the group and, while the scientific expert, is just as muscular as the other Extreme Dinosaurs.
  • Irony: Stegz, the highly intelligent member of the gang and arguably the smartest character in the show, is a Stegosaurus. You know, the dinosaur with the small brain. On the other hand, there was that old, thoroughly-debunked belief that Stegosaurus was so huge it needed two brains, with a second one in its lower region. We know better now, but having two brains WOULD make you considerably smarter.
  • Rolling Attack: Stegz' signature move is to curl into a ball, his back plates forming a circular saw that lets him cut through anything.
  • Tough Armored Dinosaur: He's a Stegosaurus and ironically for stegosaurs, the Genius Bruiser.
  • Tough Spikes and Studs: Stegz wears spiked wristbands. While just as tough a fighter as his teammates, Stegz differs from most examples of this trope in that he is the technology expert of his team and is very contemplative by nature.
  • Tunnel King: By using his buzzsaw technique, Stegz can tunnel through the earth.

     Bullzeye

  • The Jinx: Bullzeye is convinced he's become this after a rash of bad luck in "Jinxed".
  • Keet: Is generally the most upbeat of the characters and the most prone to childish behaviour.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: Bullzeye's signature move is a high-pitched screech that can disorient foes, disrupt electronics and shatter glass.
  • Terror-dactyl: He's specified as a Pteranodon rather than the usual "pterodactyl", but his beak is full of sharp teeth and he has bat-like wings. He has two wings, two legs and two arms, the latter of which are shown to be a result of his mutation, but he was shown to have teeth and bat-wings beforehand.
  • Token Flyer: Bullzeye is the only natural flyer among the four dinosaurs. The others can only go airborne via their flying vehicles.
  • Trickster Archetype: Bullzeye.

     Hard Rock

  • Fish out of Water: Even more so than the other dinosaurs! Hard Rock comes from an alternate universe where dinosaurs became the dominant sapient life-form and ends up in the main universe.
  • Sixth Ranger: Hard Rock doesn't join the team until the episode "Have a Nice Daynosaur".
  • Tough Armored Dinosaur: He's an Ankylosaurus, though he's more pacifistic than most examples.

Their Allies

     Chedra Bodzak
A Quadranian law officer who pursued Argor Zardok to Earth and ended up stranded when Bad Rap's weapon caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. She serves as the Extreme Dinosaur's mentor and comic foil.

  • Blue-Skinned Space Babe: An attractive, blue-skinned alien woman from another dimension.
  • By-the-Book Cop: Her adherance to the Quadranian codebook clashes with the Dinosaurs' more gung-ho, spontaneous style. This even goes so far as to admonish the Dinosaurs for sloppy beds... before they're even out of the beds!
    • A frequent Running Gag on the show is Chedra trying to get the Dinosaurs to adhere to the codes, only for Spike to confound her by quoting random passages out of the book, distracting her long enough for the others to get away.
  • Dimensional Traveler: Quadranians hail from another dimension rather than being standard space aliens. Chedra arrived from her universe to arrest Argor, but got stranded in modern with the Dinosaurs.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: While her insistence on following Quadranian law grates on the Dinosaurs, she cares for them and wants them to succeed.
  • Ship Tease: With Spike on a few occasions. Also counts as a possible Interspecies Romance, due to one being an alien woman and another being a sapient humanoid dinosaur.

     Porcupine “Pork” DuVaal
A good-natured Texan and the curator of the dinosaur museum/house that serves as the Extreme Dinosaurs' HQ.

     Prince H
A British prince who serves as an occasional ally to the Dinosaurs during their international missions.

The Reckless Raptors

    General

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Just like the Extreme Dinosaurs, they were prehistoric dinosaurs that were given sapience rather than aliens as they were in Street Sharks.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The episode "Tiptoe through the Tulips" as the Raptors grow giant after being exposed to an experimental growth forumla.
  • Big Eater: Just as gluttonous as the Dinosaurs, given the chance.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: The Raptors pride themselves on being vicious and mean.
  • Doomsday Device: Various machines, chemicals, and other methods used by the Raptors to bring about global warming.
  • Dumb Dinos: Despite being a Velociraptor, often considered The Smart Guy of dinosaurs, Haxx is stupid and childlike. Averted for Bad Rap and Spittor, who are far more intelligent.
  • Evil Is Petty: The Raptors' main motive, which is to cause global warming. It's not like the planet's current temperature is a threat to their lives or anything, since there are plenty of hot places they can live in (like their volcano hideout), they just find it annoying.
  • Fantastic Racism : The Reckless Raptors refer to the humans as "hairless mammals" and consider raptors to be superior to other dinosaur species.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • Haxx. has proven himself the nicest one out of the trio of Raptors in the episode "Holiday on Ice".
    • Implied for Bad Rap and Spittor as well at the end of "A Bone To Pick" where they claim they knew that wasn't Argor giving them those commands to do good deeds even though they did them anyways. On the other hand, they could just been trying to save face after being made to look stupid.
  • Joker Immunity: The Raptors have survived falls, been covered in snow, and even were entirely frozen in ice, and yet are always reunited and perfectly healthy in the next episode.
  • Kill All Humans: The Reckless Raptors' plots all involve heating up the Earth, making it pleasant for reptiles, but not so good for us humans.
  • Last of Their Kind: They are the last of Velociraptor on Earth, though they refuse to believe it.
  • Manchild: Haxx and Spittor. Well, mostly Haxx. Haxx believes in Santa Claus and tried to behave himself so he could get presents for Christmas. He was actually the only one on his team with a Christmas spirit.
  • No True Scotsman: They think all raptors should be mean and nasty. Thus they are quite disgusted when they encounter friendly raptors in an alternate dimension inhabited by humanoid dinosaurs.
  • Raptor Attack: Even before they were mutated, the Raptors were shown to be featherless, vicious beasts. The lack of feathers might be justified by the time it was made, though.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: The Raptors are prone to bickering on the best of days, and "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" shows how easy it is to get them fighting each other.
  • Terrible Trio: The Reckless Raptors.

     Bad Rap

     Haxx

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Haxx's blades can cut through a foot-thick titanium door.
  • The Brute: Would technically count as the muscle of the Raptors, were it not for his general incompetence.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's usually the first to be taken out in a fight, and the other Raptors have no qualms about using him as a test subject or punching bag.
  • The Dog Bites Back: "Medusasaurus" has him turn against Bad Rap when he acquires an alien mask capable of petrifying others.
  • Dumb Muscle: Is the least intelligent of the raptors and prefers violence as a solution.
  • Friend to All Children: Haxx is heavily implied to be this in "A Bone To Pick", where he mentions at the end that he enjoyed playing with the kids.
  • Manchild
Spittor: Sixty five million years old... You'd think he'd grow up one of these eons!
  • Wolverine Claws: Argor's gift to Haxx, a pair of "Holo-Blades" capable of cutting through anything.

     Spittor

  • Breath Weapon: A nozzle set into his mouth allows him to spit various chemicals, hence his name.
  • Mad Scientist: Is the Raptor's answer to Stegz, being highly intelligent. But unlike Stegz, his inventions are used to further the Raptor's cause of accelerating global warming.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite being much smarter than Haxx, Spittor occasionally messes things up as well.
  • Poisonous Person: Armed with spray nozzles and a tank on his back, Spittor uses various chemicals to fight the Extreme Dinosaurs, ranging from glues to gases to binding threads.
  • Super Weapon, Average Joe: Spittor is physically the weakest of the Raptors and relies on his chemical sprayers in a fight. He's much less of a threat if his weapons are damaged or removed from his person.
