     Main Characters

Drum (Dante) Koryu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/drum_6.jpg
Voiced by: Megumi Han (Japanese); Erika Harlacher (English)
  • All-Loving Hero: Becomes one at the end of Rise, and now he's returning in the fifth season
  • Badass Adorable: He's a cute and daring blader, in and out of the battle.
  • Blue Is Heroic: His attire is predominantly blue, his Bey aura is blue, and he's the protagonist for Rise.
  • Cheerful Child: He's really a cheerful kid, but don't push his buttons.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: When Dragon changes Layer Bases, its aura changes color to fit its type status (Attack —>Blue, Stamina —> Orange/Yellow) Strangely though, it does not turn green when using the Defense-type Rock Base.
  • Deliberately Cute Child: Dante's super cute in his own way.
  • Dub Name Change: Drum —> Dante
    • Also, to a lesser extent, one of Dragon's Layer Bases; Grand —> Glyph.
  • Everything's Better with Rainbows: In the penultimate episode, he and Dragon, with the help of Delta, Arman, and their Bey spirits, unlock the ultimate form of Hyper-Flux, Rainbow Flux, against Gwyn and his Superior Flux-empowered Eclipse Genesis.
  • Expy: Of Brooklyn "Bullet" Luckfield of the Super Robot Wars franchise not only in his short, blonde haircut, but also his uniform sharing similar a similar blue and yellow color scheme. To drive the point home, his last name is Koryu, the same as Bullets signiture mech, Koryuoh. To add to this, his Bit Beast is a Dragon that's just called Dragon, much like one half to Bullets mech and other form is Dragon that is simply Ryukooh.
  • Flaming Hair: Not to the extent of Lui, but the two blue portions of his hair flare up when he gets serious.
  • Genius Ditz: Despite his usually childish and ditzy personality, he can quickly create Layer Bases suitable for his Dragon and was also the first one to create a Power Core System Driver.
  • High-Pressure Emotion: Much like Valt, Dante's face turns red when he gets nervous.
  • Jack of All Stats: Despite being an Attack-type, Ace Dragon can change modes like a Balance-type. Its upgrade, Command Dragon combines all the abilities of the Ace, Glyph and Rock Layer Bases.
  • Kid Hero: He replaces Aiger as the new protagonist for Rise.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Gender-inverted. He's the light to Delta's dark and cool personality.
  • Meaningful Name: His surname means "rainbow dragon", he has a colorful attire, and he wields a dragon-themed Bey. Fittingly. he also manages to achieve Rainbow Flux near the season finale.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: Upgrades his broken Ace Dragon into Command Dragon in episode 31.
  • Multiform Balance: Ace Dragon is able to alter between three modes via customizing its Layer Base:
    • Ace —> Attack
    • Rock —> Defense
    • Glyph —> Stamina
  • Nightmare Face: He has a habit of making scary faces when he's nervous.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: He tries to glomp Delta every time he sees him, much to the latter's chagrin.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: He also has a bad habit of accidentally revealing his plans/strategies to his opponents.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Ace Dragon's avatar is an amalgamation of an Eastern and Western dragon.
  • Our Spirits Are Different: Dragon is one of the few spirits in Burst that is able to speak to its owner.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: As shown when videochatting with his parents, he has his mother's blonde/blue hair and green eyes.
  • Technician vs. Performer: Dante's a spunky performer to Delta's wicked, yet cool technician.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: His colorful attire resembles his Bey avatar's colorful scales. Also, the two blue strips on his head look like dragon horns.
  • Unknown Rival: To Delta. Dante considers him his friend and seems oblivious to Delta's resentment of him.
  • Wrecked Weapon: His Ace Dragon is destroyed by Arthur and Prime Apocalypse in #30. Fortunately, he reforges it into Command Dragon in the following episode.

Delta Akane (Zakuro)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/delta_2.jpg
Voiced by: Kensho Ono (Japanese); Brian Anderson (English)
  • The Ace: He's ranked as one of the Risen 3, the world's three strongest Bladers of the new generation in Rise.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: He's intelligent, cool, and adorable.
  • Blood Knight: After demolishing through the European League with no problem, he’s desperate for more battles to satisfy him.
  • Defrosting Ice King: Initially wanted nothing to with Dante, but by the end of the season, he's accepted him as a friend and one point even shares a hearty laugh with him.
  • Determinator: The fact that it took him 2,001 tries to perfect his launch is saying something.
  • Dub Name Change: Surname change: Akane —> Zakuro.
    • also his Bey: Diabolos —> Devolos.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He resents the fact that Valt seems to favor Dante over him, despite having been at BC Sol for longer and having achieved Hyper-Flux first. He is also somewhat of a literal case in that his left eye appears green under his hair.
  • Heroic BSoD: Gets a massive one in #35 after Erase Devolos is shattered. Fortunately, Valt helps him out of it.
  • Jack of All Stats: Similar to Count Nightfell's Fusion Aether, Delta can change Devolos' spin direction by switching between the Venom (right) and Erase (left) Layer Bases. Later on, he gains the ability to flip the Master Layer Base to achieve the same thing.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Gender-flipped. Delta's the calm and cool & dark to Dante's spunky lightheartedness.
  • Logical Weakness: Venom/Erase Devolos' gimmick allows it to split its Performance Tip in two to deliver more powerful attacks and trap the opponent. However, if the Bullet (Clone in the dub) tip gets broken or knocked out of the stadium, Devolos can't use any of its special moves.
  • Meaningful Name: Both of his surnames mean "red", and he wears a red jacket and has red eyes.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Unlike most characters with bangs whose eyes are completely obscured by their hair, Delta's left eye is still visible underneath. After Devolos' destruction, his eye vanishes behind his hair during his Heroic BSoD.
  • Our Demons Are Different: His bey is Devolos, which means "demon" in Latin. However, his bey is a dragon demon.
  • Our Spirits Are Different: Devolos is able to speak to its owner, just like several other spirits before it.
  • Perpetual Frowner: His usual expression is a serious scowl. However, after obtaining Devolos, he starts to smirk after defeating a strong opponent.
  • Rule of Symbolism:
    • Delta's left eye disappears behind his hair to show his brokenness after his Bey's destruction. When Valt helps him out of his depression, he eye reappears, symbolizing how he has seen the light.
    • The sky would only have one visible star whenever Delta expressed his drive to be the best, but once Delta revives and upgrades Devolos, the sky has millions of stars to show that he has turned over a new leaf and started viewing other Bladers as worthy.
  • Technician vs. Performer: Delta's the technician to Dante's the performer.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: During his 2-on-1 match with Arthur, he makes it clear he doesn't want Dante's help. Thanks to Character Development, he becomes more willing to work with Dante and Arman during their battle against Inferno.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: As flashbacks show, while he wasn’t exactly the nicest, he wasn’t really unpleasant either, as he gave Dante (a newbie at the time) advice on how to launch properly. In the present day, he flat-out refuses to acknowledge him or his wins, and even calling him an annoyance to his face. Fortunately...
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Once Valt helps him get over his despair and evolve his Devolos, he becomes more tolerant of Dante and begins to acknowledge him more. By the time of the match between the Victories and Inferno, he openly views him as a friend and teammate.
  • When He Smiles: He begins to smile for real after becoming nicer.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Erase Devolos is destroyed by Arthur and Apocalypse in #34. Later, it is rebuilt into Master Devolos.

Amane (Arman) Kusaba

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amane.jpg
Voiced by: Atsushi Abe (Japanese); Griffin Puatu (English)
  • Dub Name Change: Amane —> Arman in the dub.
    • Also, his Bey. Ashura —> Ashindra.
  • Dual Wielding: More like sextuple wielding, but Bushin Ashindra’s avatar wields six swords all at once.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: He'll put on his headband right before a battle.
  • Meaningful Name: His last name means "blades of grass", and he wields a green bey and has green in his colour scheme.
  • Mr. Exposition: He has special glasses that allow him to analyze Beys and their features.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: The avatar of Bushin Ashindra has six arms.
  • Only Sane Man: He is the only one who shows concern about Dante pushing his own limit to upgrade Ace Dragon.
  • Took a Level in Badass: By the third act of the season, he becomes the fifth character to achieve Hyper-Flux.
  • Unusual Eyebrows: They're not apparent when he's wearing his headband, but his brows branch off and are curled.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Dante butt heads quite often.

Takane (Taka) Kusaba

Voiced by: Marie Mizuno (Japanese); Janice Roman Roku (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takane.jpg

Ichika Kindo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ichika.jpg
Voiced by: Minami Takahashi (Japanese); Kayli Mills (English)

Tango Koryu

Voiced by: Jamieson Price (credited as Taylor Henry; English)
  • Cool Uncle: He's Dante's uncle, a nice person all things considered, and a good coach for the Victories.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He has a pet cat, and is a pretty nice guy to be around.

     Others

Fumiya Kindo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fumiya.jpg
Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae (Japanese); Kory Getman (English)
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Deep down, he really does care about Ichika, and simply wants her to be a part of his team.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After stealing away nearly all members of the Victories, those same Bladers all abandon him for Arthur's Inferno association. He later gets them back after Dante defeats Arthur.
  • The Leader: Of his own team, the Spark Wings.
  • Meaningful Name: As per tradition for Burst characters, his last name has a colour in it—this time the kanji for "gold", and he has blonde hair.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Downplayed. He and Ichika both love each other, but she is on the Victories, the team he resents. However, episodes 12 & 23 of Rise have established just how much they care one another.

Joe Rurikawa (Lazure)

Voiced by Taishi Murata (Japanese); Aleks Le (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joe_95.jpg
  • The Bus Came Back: Returns in #32 as a member of Inferno.
  • Court Jester: His Bey is based off the titular entertainer from the medieval & Renaissance eras. Joe's outfit also resembles a Jester's uniform.
  • Death or Glory Attack: One of Joker's special moves, Fate's Judgement, involves focusing its power into the Layer Base's rubber blades to deliver a strong attack, but also suffering recoil damage as a drawback. Furthermore, there's a 50/50 chance of Joker self-destructing if the weak-sided blade makes contact with the opponent.
  • Dub Name Change: Surname change: Rurikawa —> Lazure.
  • Facial Markings: Has a long, purple scar-like mark painted over his left eye.
  • Graceful Loser: After Dante defeats him in the Bey Carnival, he congratulates him and lets him keep one of his coins.
  • Put on a Bus: Has yet to reappear since the Bey Carnival. See above, however.
  • Significant Birth Date: Being a wandering gambler, his birthday is July 7th.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: Has the same blue/purple coloring and, upon looking closely, the same left eye scar-like mark as Joker's avatar.

Lodin Haijima

Voiced by: Masami Iwasaki (Japanese); Imari Williams (English)
  • The Ace: Lodin is a decathlon champion, having won several athletic tournaments before deciding to become a blader.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Half of his dialogue consists of snide insults and remarks to Dante and Fumiya delivered with the aggression of a freight train.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: His response to Fumiya trying to recruit him for his team? Throw a discus at him.
  • Facial Markings: He has a blue diamond mark on his forehead.
  • Graceful Loser: His reaction to losing to Dante at the Bey Carnival is to let out an excited scream and say how Dante has lit a fire in his soul, acknowledging him as a Worthy Opponent and saying he looks forward to facing him again.
  • Heroic Build: As mentioned above, he's a champion athlete, so it's a given.
  • Put on a Bus: Has yet to reappear since the Bey Carnival arc.
  • Training from Hell: While bizarre and intense training from Burst characters is nothing new, Lodin takes it to a new level by blowing away an entire pool with his strength to prepare for his matches.
  • Worthy Opponent: He comes to view Dante as such during their match in the Bey Carnival.
  • Younger Than They Look: Like Xander Shakadera before him, despite his height and muscularity, Lodin is only 11 years old.

Pot Hope (Pheng Hope)

Voiced by: Sachi Koryuku (Japanese); Sarah Anne Williams (English)
  • The Ace: He's the second member of the Risen 3. He's also the top student at Heaven's Castle.
  • Closest Thing We Got: This is the first season of Burst to not feature Roktavor or a Kiyama. Pegasus and Roktavor both have weak burst resistance and wind-based powers that create a tornado. Pheng is also very friendly and supportive to the cast, which gives him the most similarities to Rantaro in this series.
  • Critical Status Buff: When Pegasus has taken enough damage, two "wings" deploy from the Layer Base, which when attacked, restore the locking mechanism to its original position.
  • Dub Name Change: Pot —> Pheng.
    • Also, his Bey; Heaven Pegasus —> Harmony Pegasus.
  • Facial Markings: Has several little blue markings across his face.
  • Lonely at the Top: Much like Kurt, Pheng's easy wins due to his strength made him lose enthusiasm for Beyblading in the past. Fortunately, battling with Dante reignites his passion and inspires him to want to achieve Hyper-Flux.
  • Pegasus: His Bey is based off of the eponymous winged horse.
  • Put on a Bus: In Rise #32, it is mentioned that he returned home to continue training.
  • The Prankster: He likes pulling pranks on others. Examples include painting on a man's face, setting traps for the Victories; two of which Dante and Arman fell for, and pulling the fake hand gag on Delta.
  • Sore Loser: Off-screen, but it's said that he was so upset by his loss against Dante that he went home.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: His crescent-shaped hair resembles a pair of wings, just like his Pegasus Bey.
  • Winged Humanoid: Downplayed in he's clearly fully human, but he develops feathered wings when he resonates with his Bey.

Blind (Blindt) DeVoy

Voiced by: Kosuke Toriumi (Japanese); Alejandro Saab (English)
  • The Ace: He’s the third and final Blader of the Risen 3.
  • Classy Cravat: Wears one as part of his late Baroque-style outfit. Though, his eccentric personality says otherwise.
  • Dub Name Change: Though not much of a change: Blind —> Blindt.
    • Also, his Bey: Dread Bahamut —> Dusk Balkesh.
  • Eccentric Artist: Much like Jack, he enjoys treating his opponents like blank art canvases to paint on.
  • Fragile Speedster: Dusk Balkesh is rather light for a Defense-type, and thus can Burst easily. However, it makes up for this due to its rubber Gen Layer Weight being shaped to obstruct Bursts, making it harder to remove the locking mechanism.
  • Graceful Loser: Zigzagged. Whilst he took his losses against Dante rather badly, he was more than happy to lose to Delta in both his battles against him. Even congratulating him and both showing respect towards each other.
  • Improbable Hairstyle: How he manages to style his hair into those large ringlets is currently a mystery.
  • Informed Ability: Despite being said to have incredible skills, he hasn't won a single battle and of the two rounds he did win a point, only one was by his skills whilst the other was by his opponent messing up on his own (though the two opponents he fought were very strong).
  • Not the Intended Use: Two of his special moves, Dusk Vertical and Dusk Gyro, feature Balkesh spinning on its Layer Base either vertically or horizontally.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Like its predecessor, Balkesh's avatar is a multi-winged dragon.
  • Purple Is Powerful: His Bey aura is purple, he has purple hair, and he's one of the top three strongest Bladers of Rise. He can also use Dark-Flux, just like Arthur.
  • The Worf Effect: He has never won a single on-screen battle. Not even after joining Arthur's Inferno organization. Really makes you wonder just how he even made it into the Risen 3 in the first place.

Arthur Percival (Peregrine)

Voiced by: Shouma Yamamoto (Japanese); Ben Diskin (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c34e5de05f449dc5766976d0a386a8a7.jpg
  • The Ace: Managed to defeat strong Bladers Dante, Delta and Aiger without losing a single point.
    • Broken Ace: On the other hand, his over-confidence also cost him his victory in a rematch against Dante.
  • Animal Motifs: Has a lot of avian features, including some feathering on one of his shoulders. His dub surname is even named after the peregrine falcon.
  • Big Bad: of Rise.
  • Dark Is Evil: Dresses in a dark bodysuit, runs his own organization inside of a big ominous-looking tower, and can access a dark version of Hyper-Flux called Dark-Flux.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Was introduced as the main antagonist of Rise, but that honor later went to Gwyn.
  • Dub Name Change: Surname change: Percival —> Peregrine.
  • Facial Markings: Has several yellow and red markings that resemble his Bey's GT Chip.
  • A God Am I: He's the self-proclaimed "King of Inferno", as well as the "Beyblade King".
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: His reason for wanting to take over the WBBA remains a mystery.
  • Jerkass: He's disrespectful to the Beyblading sport and fellow bladers, not caring about rules or honour.

Gwyn Ronny (Reynolds)

Voiced by: Sumire Morohoshi (Japanese); Cristina Vee (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gwynthinking.jpg
  • Agent Scully: He firmly believes that anything can be solved with equations. When he tries to figure out why Dante becomes so strong alongside his friends, he gets a little...unhinged.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Acts like a friend to Dante, but only so he could study him and has the intent of destroying his bey. When he failed to do so, he was visibly frustrated and left the group. By the end of Rise, and after finding the answer to what Beyblade and friendship truly mean, Gwyn befriends Dante for real.
  • Contortionist: Downplayed. Gwyn isn't a professional performer, but he is shown to stretch his arms and back further than normal when preparing to launch his bey.
    Ichika: Wow, he's so flexible!
Arman: The range of motion of his joints are so wide.
  • Cosmic Motifs: Gywn is surrounded by imagery of sparkles, stars, and galaxies whenever he is in deep thought, calculating, or performing his special moves. His upgraded bey, BigBang Genesis, is based on, well, the Big Bang, a theory explaining the origin of the universe.
  • Dub Name Change: Surname change. Ronny —> Reynolds.
  • Friendless Background: Growing up, he preferred studying over playing with other kids.
  • Instant Expert: Despite having zero experience in bey battles, he adapts to blading very quickly just by using arithmetic formulas and simple shooting form instructions from Dante. During his first battle, he easily beats the more experienced Joe despite botching his launch in the first round (he quickly masters his launch in the second). Unlike other characters who need to practise and train a ton, Gywn doesn't even need both to win. Having a burst-preventing bey and a driver that grants it superior stamina also helps.
  • Meaningful Name: His first name, Gywn, means "white" or/and "blessed" in Welsh. He wears predominantly white, has white hair, is a mathematical genius, masters blading right after building his bey despite his lack of experience, and is nigh-undefeatable because his bey can't burst (until the finale where the protagonist finds a way to bypass it).
  • Our Dragons Are Different: After awakening from its sealed form, Regalia Genesis' avatar becomes a white mechanical dragon.
  • Significant Birth Date: His birthday is March 14th (π Day). Fitting for a mathematical genius like him.
  • The Smart Guy: He uses arithmetic formulas to figure out strategies and find the right parts for his Bey.
  • Winged Humanoid: Not Gwyn himself, but the avatar of his latest bey, BigBang Genesis, looks more humanoid than its winged draconic predecessor.
