I recently made a massive edit to the page and wanted to use this space to explain everything I changed at length:

  • Altered the page quote to feature the entire opening monologue (including its original formatting — I admit this wasn't strictly necessary but I like how it looks)
  • Heavily adjusted the description to fix run-on sentences & missing/otherwise improper punctuation
    • Also removed mentions of critical reception (official policy discourages this)
  • Added context to tropes that needed them
  • Reworded portions of many examples to flow better (including altering run-on sentences)
  • Removed mentions of the game's name or "the first game" from examples moved from the series' page, since they're now redundant
  • Tried to reduce unnecessary spoilers through genericization (i.e. "the Final Boss" instead of "Nahatomb")
  • Adjusted indentation to separate some tropes with multiple examples into their own bullet list (i.e. Early-Installment Weirdness)
  • Shifting ending punctuation to be inside quotation marks — "like this," not "like this". The original page was inconsistent about this, so I decided to go for consistency
  • Slightly adjusted the third American Kirby Is Hardcore example — a Japanese sources gives Klonoa's age in this game as a fourth grader in elementary school (roughly 9-10 years old in Japan), so I altered a mention of his age to use this estimate.
  • Platform Hell is misuse (referring not to super-difficult games or levels but ones that intentionally don't play fair to frustrate the player)
  • Moved Product Placement to Feelies (on the Trivia page), since the product in question is only advertised via coupons that come with the game (nothing in the game itself)
  • Removed Nintendo Hard, since that trope's page specifies it has to apply to an entire game and this was solely about a Brutal Bonus Level
  • Changed Snap Back to Sliding Scale of Gameplay and Story Integration, since it seemed to fit the latter better (not sure about "snapping back" within the same installment); also reworded it
  • Replaced a few dead soundtrack links
  • Removed several tropes that were character-specific: Break the Cutie, The Dragon, Evil Laugh, Floating Limbs, Laughably Evil, Monster Clown, One-Winged Angel, and Sealed Evil in a Can. The ones that weren't already on the series' Characters page were moved there (and given more context if needed)
