Agree with the below about how the name is bad, but can we also note that Dreamworks did do at least two really good movies before they started doing stuff like that?
I made this Idolized Julius Kingsley icon back when Akito first came out, and now that the crossover is actually happening, I don't care.
I've read hundreds of tropes, but this is the first one I feel very strongly against how it was done. I had noticed this trope years ago, but in my head it was more like "Sonic Smirk" which I think should be the trope name. The Sonic Smirk is when creators want to make the characters seem more edgy and "cool". If you make a character with a sonic smirk it will have a high chance of having a skateboard and an attitude, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses and is probably a wannabe rapper. Mario is the mainstream nice coca cola guy and you know why Sonic is cooler? Because he's the with it, edgier pepsi guy. You know why Sega wants you to think that? Because he's got the Sonic Smirk! Also Sonic Smirk has that trope of names that start with the same letter.

Yeah, Dreamworks didn't exactly invent this, and the name signifies nothing. Dreamworks isn't really well known for this, so it's a terrible name.
It's just named Dreamworks Face because of the Nostalgia Chick review. In fact, the original description was pretty much entirely based on that review. When someone hears "Dreamworks Face", the first thing they're probably going to think of is Shrek's head or something. They're not going to think, "Oh, that crooked-eyed sneer from the advertising!"
It demonstrates a ton of Fan Myopia because "LOL SHE COINED A NEW PHRASE AND WE NEED TO MAKE IT A TROPE ASAP." Now we're stuck with a name that sounds like it was made years ago (Although I guess I can thank my lucky stars it's not The Dreamwork).

Well, if it's that much of a problem, then you can always just take the issue up to the Trope Repair Shop.

The expression in the artwork provided isn't even close to the Dreamworks Face — there isn't the slightest smile. It's an Aside Glance. What's more, this trope specifically applies to promotional materials, and the image shown appears to be an autographed cel.
If another example can be found I'm eager to be proved wrong, as I'd love to see an example of this trope this early. But it would need an illustrative example that shows knowledge of the trope.

The Nostalgia Chick did an episode about this trope called "Dreamworks Vs. Disney: Rise of the Eyebrow." Rise Of The Eyebrow might make for a more descriptive trope title.

Poster choice
I'm going to note this here because it may seem arbitrary. The poster was changed twice. First time, it was the one from the trope namer which was a little too Take That! ish and quite a bit too large. The second one was ok but actually- not all of them were example. The one from Shark Tale was just a smiling character, the one from Antz was from the movie itself was a scene in which the character was doing a seductive glance while dancing.
Making the one from the fourth shrek movie so big and central, even obscuring views of other actual examples was weird. I just clipped that down. I actually didn't have much of an issue with the Monsters Vs Aliens one but I wanted to include a case of one where it was very unlike the character and Donkey is a good choice for that I think.
I also included a Pixar character. Yay!

Yes I also like how you include a Pixar character. Time will tell if someone refutes that though- Lightning smiles like that a lot in the film, but learns not to show off all the time.
