Do we have a trope for one character physically holding another back? I've seen it in a lot of different series, usually crime dramas, such as Criminal Minds and NCIS, and it's usually because they want to get somewhere/do something that might put them in danger, and they're not acting rationally so the other character has to physically stop them from doing whatever they want to. Basically restraining them. I've also seen it in Grey's Anatomy, when Derek gets shot and Cristina has to hold Meredith back.

Gay man attempts to attract straight man by undergoing an operation but ends up attracting lesbian women instead.
Alternatively, lesbian woman attempts to attract straight woman by undergoing an operation but ends up attracting gay men instead.
Either way, an aesop at the end about being yourself is optional.

This is my first post on here, so I don't know where to ask it.
I wanted to ask about Ed Alonso disappearing all of a sudden from Saved by the Bell, where he was the owner of Max's and then, he's just gone.
How would I find which trope that falls under? And how would that be added, if it isn't already?

Do we have an inversion of Adaptation Induced Plothole? That is, when an adaptation is careful to fill in plotholes found in the original?

I may be going absolutely nuts and this may not be the right place to look, but I could swear I found pages on this site that review every episode of the Simpsons. In those reviews, it mentions the tropes involved in each as well as the random characters and the last time they were mentioned/shown in the show.
If this is the wrong forum (and I'm guessing it might be, but don't know where else to turn?), please point me to it.
Thanks.

A very common comedic device is that a character appears to be dead (usually after a heroic sacrifice in the big battle), leaving the other characters to mourn her/him. However, the character is not dead and now listens to everything the others have to say about her/him. They usually even interact with a quizzing 'Did you really mean that?', where the mourning character first responds unknowingly, and only after realizes their loved one is still alive.
I could not find this here. Anyone?

I remember a trope about how history has to balance. For example, in the 80s Twilight Zone "Profile In Silver", someone goes back in time to save JFK and succeed. However, history needed another assassination to balance the failed one, so Khrushev was assassinated. As a result, the Soviets capture West Berlin and the world will inevitable be destroyed. I tried searching "historical Intertia", "historical balance", and some other things, but nothing came up.

Is there a trope for when someone gets a written piece of information and they make an excuse for themselves or someone else to read it aloud so the audience can hear?
Oh, and I still haven't gotten an answer for my "conversation-stopping comment" query - and it's NOT Armor-Piercing Question or Big "SHUT UP!". I'm looking for a statement or question that someone makes that quiets everyone else down with something like interest or incredulity.

Is there a trope for when an actor gets switched with their character? Such as in that meta-episode of Supernatural or The Famous Jett Jackson movie?

In Mystery Dungen Explorers (at leas Sky), when you get to the end of the type you got, there's the "So, a [x] type like you... Will be a <Pokémon>!"
Except Rash. It gets the first part, but then stops to tell another thing about the type you got. Then after that, the description ends with "So, without further ado... a rash and hasty type like you... Will be a <Pokémon>!"
Is that Bait-and-Switch? Or something else...?
(Also, that was quite funny).

Would a fictional "big cat" species count under Mega Neko, or Panthera Awesome?
In particular I'm asking about hexapumas from Honor Harrington, which only vaguely resemble Earth "big cats", and not just because of their six legs (hence "hexa").

Do we have a video game trope for when an ability or item allows you to cross or be immune to special tiles such as fire tiles, water tiles, and poison tiles?

The shots in 2001: A Space Odyssey showing the Monolith with some body over head, the sun first then the earth, or the repeated shots of the Leverage team from over head. What would these kinds of recurring shots go under?

A mistery, like a whodunnit. There are several characters: the detective, some suspects, and another character which is neither but which gets several scenes and camera focus. In the end, and without more previous clues, that character is revealed as the killer (or mastermind, or whatever). I'm not sure if this is exactly The Dog Was the Mastermind or if there is another better suited trope.

What's the trope for where main character's faces are never obscured, even when they should be?
IE main characters on medical shows never wear masks.
Is there a trope for when a character has to shoot his dog, or pet in general, either for being sick or for having gone mad (for ex. due to rabies)?
