Find a Trope:
openPerfect Tropes for these Descriptions Anime
Recently I made a page called Jujutsu Kaisen and needless to say, it needs a bit of Wiki Magic Love. However, I came here to ask some of the tropes that fits nicely with these descriptions for the page and here it is:
1. One of the student in Jujutsu Speciality Highschool is a talking panda unlike any other students who are mostly human.
2. One of the characters, a teacher called Goujou Satoru, used a blindfold all the time. However, it's because he was concealing his true power and he only opens his own blindfold to use said terrifying power in order to fight the cursed demons.
3. I might used the subverted trope of Please Spare Him, My Liege! but it can be replaced with the description that I will tell you: In chapter 2, Goujou-sensei spared Yuji even though that the latter was supposed to be executed by asking the higher ups of Jujutsu Exorcists after swallowing a cursed body part of the King of Cursed Monsters, Ryomen Sukuna. But it was revealed that Goujou-sensei and the rest of the higher ups will execute Yuji at a later future after Yuji swallow all of Ryomen Sukuna's body parts. (Keep in mind that Goujou-sensei/Goujou Satoru wasn't a villain and becomes Yuji's teacher in later chapters.)
4. One of the students of Jujutsu Speciality Highschool, Inumaki Toge, used only food ingredients as his only vocabulary to talk to people.
5. In chapter 13, Goujou-sensei trains Yuji by letting him watching movies along with a creepy cute doll which is revealed to be the cursed corpse that was implemented by the school's principal that will attack Yuji all the time if he doesn't emit the constant flow of magical power by controlling his own emotions.
6. The principal of the Jujutsu Speciality Highschool loves to make a creepy cute dolls. However, it was revealed that the cute dolls itself was actually a cursed stuff that was implemented by him which could resulted the dolls being aggressive. (Mind you, while the principal was antagonistic towards Yuji at first, he actually mellows a little bit after Yuji passed his test when asking him an Armour-Piercing Question.)
7. After Yuji is getting spared by Goujou-sensei and the higher ups of Jujutsu Exorcists, he now made his own goals: Helping more people that was surrounding him and lead them to a proper death. And also letting himself to be executed at a later future for his own proper death in order to liberate humans from curses.
8. One of the students from Kyoto Jujutsu Speciality Highschool asked Fushiguro about his favorite type of women in which the latter answered that his type of woman is a person who has a moral compass that isn't easily swayed. However, the student himself found Fushiguro to be a boring person. As his question regarding woman type could reflect everything about him and if someone has a boring taste in woman, these guys are boring themselves from his own perspective.
That's all for now. Will ask more tropes at a later time.
openWeird sodas Anime
Is there a trope for weird soda or fruit juice flavors that a character likes to make them a little quirky?
Edited by LyendithopenYu-Gi-Oh! GX Undubbed Season 4 Anime
According to the https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_GX_-_Episode_155 Yu-Gi-Oh! wiki, the reason why there was never a dubbed season 4 was because TV Tokyo and Creator/Konami forced 4Kids Entertainment to abandon GX and focus solely on the untested Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, and this action left 4Kids very upset. What would we call this?
Edited by crystalbeach96open main character changes/dies, but the story continues Anime
Yeah so what it is this trope called?
There is actually also two instances of this trope that i think might be different?
So the first version is, to give an good example, like the Jo Jo Manga. The story marches on but there is a another protag. pretty self explaining.
The second version is were the main character dies but the story contuniues without a maincharacter that takes up that mantle.
I tagged it as anime but its a general trope i think
thx in advance
Edited by kekly92openBadass sigh Anime
Is there a trope for when, after performing some badass, full-power feat that amazes and terrifies everyone, the character simply exhales, just to show it took effort out of them?
open2 person mirror punch Anime
Two allies punch an opponent at the same time in the same area(usually the stomach) in a mirroring pose for a combo attack.
Always a dramatic finisher and sends the opponent flying.
openBook Opened in Middle/Correct Page Anime
There are so many examples off the top of my head of characters opening books in the middle instead of the start. Happens so often in animated series, that I'm pleasantly surprised when they actually open the book at the start.. Oftentimes, the page they open at conveniently happens to have the info they need. Is there an existing page for this?
openEmotional Indicator Anime
A sort of visual indicator as seen in this image that shows a character's emotions (happiness/contentment in the case of this image), typically seen an anime or anime style work? (Actually the video game The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III in this case, but I feel like I've seen this type of thing also in other works that are either anime or have an anime sort of look.)
Edited by JMQwilleranopenA Reunion Kinda trope? Anime
Does a trope exist for "It has been ages since Character A saw Character B. A has been thinking about B lately, then boom, Character B appears by chance, and their reunion ensues."?
Edited by Cake-ChanopenPromo-exclusive outfit Anime
Where a character is depicted in promotional material, such as ads, teasers, covers of compilations, figures, etc. wearing clothes they don't ever actually wear in canon. Examples include this Jonathan Joestar figurine (and artwork) in this bizarre green monstrosity or this◊ adult Goku figurine where he's decked out completely in Capsule Corp. swag.
I think the Jojo's example is, partially, based on something he wore for one chapter as a disguise and then never again, so it could also be a broader trope of assigning a character an "iconic" outfit based on something they wore once, if they aren't just making it up wholesale.
openEveryone has to say something Anime
Noticed it a lot in Persona 4 Golden as I'm playing through it again, but I feel like this is a common thing in a lot of anime and Japanese media.
Whenever there's an important cutscene, it feels like *every* party member needs to be given a line even when it's basically the same sentiment over and over again.
The closest thing I can find that reflects what I'm thinking is in Mandatory Line for Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, which is also captured in this Awkward Zombie comic.
Edited by somerndmguyopenOrganising a lawless world Anime
This trope is for a world has just begun to exist and there are still no laws, rules, councils to organise the daily life and the political landscape of this brand new world ... Until the hero comes in, and slowly the world begins to move forward : some sort of a constitution with a municipal council to make those new rules applied and so on .
This trope appears at least in the anime Log Horizon and is probably a feature of many "new worlds".
I'm certain it already exists, but English not being my mother-tongue and being still new to TV Tropes, I'd like help.
Thank you !
Edited by Nuup-KangerluaopenSpin your opponent's weapon to redirect its attack Anime
Just noticed this in Pokemon, but I can't find the trope. In "The Song of Jigglypuff" Weezing is about to attack, but Bulbasaur uses Vinewhip to spin the floating Weezing around so the attack hits Team Rocket instead. Can be done with tanks, turrets, etc. as well. Isn't there also a Zelda game (Link Between Worlds?) where shooting a turret (arrow launcher?) rotates it ninety degrees?
openPerfect girls Anime
All female charaters in the medium are seemingly flawless and attractive in all regards. They are not necessarily in love with the main character, like Harem tropes would suggest. They are too perfect for the standard of human society. What is this trope?
openA specific greeting gesture/bow Anime
This bow/greeting pose: http://sv.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=258rmlk&s=9
I've seen it used in the Lupin III episode the picture is from and also early in the Lone Wolf and Cub manga (the Babycart On The River Styx chapter, I think), and maybe elsewhere. Should there be a trope for it? What does it mean?
Edited by LavodeopenHit on the head when somebody does something stupid? Anime
Right, so there is this gesture - often seen in animes like Naruto or Pokemon. Most often it's the female protagonist who gets really angry with the male protagonist, hits him with a downwards fist strike on the head and then clenches her fist and makes an angry expression, commenting on how stupid the thing was he did. I have literally no idea how to name it. Searched for like 2 hours. It happens pretty often and is kinda like a more physical "BAKA!" or "AHOU!"
openSeiyu appears in almost every new anime Anime
Which trope should be used if the voice actor plays so often that you can hear it almost in every new work?
openAnime Eyes Anime
There's a trope and set of tropes about Anime Hair, but Anime Eyes seem to have no trope on it's own, even though it's one of the omnipresent associations about animé.
open"Amazing Upperclassmen" Anime
Is there a specific trope for a character at school having upperclassmen who seem to be inordinately better at everything than the simple difference between their and the character's grades should allow? A good case would be My Hero Academia, where the Big Three (and Mirio, specifically) completely overpower the first-year class. I know there's a trope for the beatdown specifically, but I'm looking for something that'd cover their superiority in general, as well as be able to be expanded to other similar situations.
Edited by JackKawamugi
So there is a situation where a character is based on a historical character and so we know, sort of, what is going to happen at an approaching moment in the timeline. Like, Lincoln is entering the Ford Theater, etc. Depending on the looseness of the history, it might be a foregone conclusion or a buildup of tension for "how will they handle this?" - it was the latter in the particular anime I am troping on.
Is there a trope for this?
