Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work: "Audience Reactions may not be used if the particular reaction is dependent on the full work.". Most of those YMMV entries (except Tainted by the Preview) seem preemptive.
maybe we should cut or lock the YMMV page for now? (Uncanny Valley feels right for Peach, though...)
The Protomen enhanced my life.Paper Mario has an active hatedom due to the last four games* featuring it still not having gameplay and characters similar to the first two Paper Mario games.
You can try asking the locked pages thread on the forums about it: [1]
* Includes the cross-over with Mario & Luigi, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
Edited by Ngamer01Broken Base should be deleted, as it cannot be added to pages except 6 months after the work's release.
Broken Base got commented out for now, but I agree with TantaMonty that the entry should be deleted outright, because I'm fairly certain six months haven't passed since the trailer got released.
The trailer dropped TODAY, so...yeah XD
The Protomen enhanced my life. This looks like a job for the Unreleased Work Page Cleanup (Speculation, Spoilers, Zero-Context, et al.) forum thread.
I posted there to alert them to potential/occurring issues with this page.
Edited by sgamer82Yeah, definitely a violation of Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work. The game was just announced, and already, there's a page of it with little info to go off of. The pages either need to be locked or cutlisted until full release.
I mean, aside from that, both of those changes are flagrantly breaking rules for the sake of bashing.
Broken Base requires six months to qualify, and you can't be Tainted by the Preview until you know whether the preview is different from the final product. So while the page itself is a matter of being dealt with the Unreleased Work Page Cleanup, the edits themselves are very poor.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I added a note saying not to add Base-Breaking Character or Broken Base examples until six months after release
Should I add a warning to avoid comparisons of The Origami King with other Paper Mario games until the game comes out?
Edited by Albert3105That sounds good.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I deleted the Tainted by the Preview trope a while back. I think Win Back the Crowd could end up being the case, but we don't know enough about the game to truly tell.
Added a no-comparisons warning, since most of the Paper Mario drama seems to relate to either comparing a given Paper Mario game to Sticker Star or TTYD as a way of venting out.
I really do not want to see the YMMV page flooded with Sticker Star or "I can't believe it's not TTYD!" drama again.
Edited by Albert3105From what I've seen, reactions are more split on The Origami King's reveal compared to the near-unanimous vitriol Color Splash's reveal got. The YMMV of Color Splash was even cut and locked until it got released since that page attracted an excessive amount of complaining. I don't The Origami King will run into the same problem since the trailer didn't attract as much vitriol.
The most controversial aspect of the franchise (the combat system) has not been fully exhibited in the trailer of The Origami King. I really feel uneasy for when the combat system gets brought more to the fore in later trailers.
For what it's worth Color Splash's reveal trailer had 8k likes and 10k dislikes. Poor Color Splash...
Edited by lalalei2001 The Protomen enhanced my life.Win Back the Crowd is becoming an especially problematic entry. It was added, removed, added again, and removed again, albeit by different tropers.
I've read Win Back the Crowd, and what I found problematic is while there's a lot of fancy descriptors and things like this, to me it doesn't really explain what the trope is suppose to be.
Also, it's WAY too early to be putting that on the page anyway.
Maybe put in comment markup where Win Back the Crowd and Win The Crowd would be placed alphabetically that "Both Win Back the Crowd and Win the Crowd have been added and re-added many times. Adding either again will result in an Edit War and a subsequent ban. Please edit cautiously." Or something like that. The note could also be added to the top of the page.
Edited by WaterBlap Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they pretty
A new Paper Mario game was announced and people seem to be liking it for the most part, particularly the new villain and the prospect of Mario teaming up with Bowser.
Tropineasily added positive reactions to the YMMV page, while Tawnalover2019 removed the Win The Crowd entry and posted much more negative reactions without an edit reason, including a Broken Base entry and Tainted by the Preview. (As of now the trailer has over 82K likes and only 1.6K dislikes.)
