It would be Newspaper/ (singular) if such a namespace existed.

I don't think most newspapers are tropeable creative works, though.

I don’t think newspapers as such are works, either. They’re more like creators, as TV channels. Individual articles and running features are works, though.

Yeah, the only way I can see a newspaper counting was if it was a parody newspaper of some sort, with every article being literally fake news.

The Namespace list is clearly set anyway. You'd need consensus and mod approval to add a new one, you can't start using one willy-nilly.

Note that Magazine/ exists as a namespace, maybe it can fit for other print media...

^^ In other words, the Weekly World News?

^ It's a thing? I mean, yeah; if everything is faked and creative, why not?

I agree that newspapers probably shouldn't be troped unless they're a special case like The Weekly World News or The Onion.

There is already a Newspapers page, but it's not a namespace. There are also Useful Notes pages for American, British, Irish, and Australian newspapers, all of which describe how newspapers are formatted in each country, and detail several major newspapers.

Any newspaper with a comics section does that. The fictional stuff gets troped as its own work.

While print media can be tropeable, not all print media are. Magazines tend to be tropeable because of the content they host, much like a website can be tropeable depending on its contents. Note that the website clean-up thread was starting to discuss magazines as well for not being tropeable, though we put a hold on that so as to focus on websites and wikis.

Creative non-fiction is clearly tropeable, but newspapers typically make a conscious effort to be un-creative non-fiction. They try to tell it like it really was, so to speak. This is not the case for certain news programs like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, which would fall under the "creative non-fiction" designation. The Wallstreet Journal on the other hand would count more as regular non-fiction or uncreative non-fiction. They don't actively try to generate fictional elements in their non-fiction.

It should also be noted that articles in the Creator/ and Useful Notes/ namespaces are decidedly not media. Thus Creator.CNN and the like do not make a precedent for a Newspaper/ namespace.

Thus Creator.CNN and the like do not make a precedent for a Newspaper/ namespace.
But do they create a precedent for making Creator pages for Newspapers?
