She looks white to me.
Avatar: Amethio (Pokemon Horizons)Also looks white to me, and it takes a closer look to notice the pink parts.
THE GOLDEN AGE WILL RETURN AGAIN!I think the person who wrote the Common Knowledge thought she was pink because of how saturated the rest of the show’s colours are. The “pink” parts are mostly just smaller details.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete! It could also be a lighting illusion thing. Colors can look a bit different depending on the colors behind them.
For Celestia I see a vague pink outline, and not much else.
Edited by WarJay77 Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI pasted the above image into an image editor, and she is definitely white; clicking on a few random pixels, RGB values vary in the 97 to 100 range and vary in which of the values is higher.
So cut as not (outright) incorrect that she's white?
Yeah, I think Celestia is technically a very very pale pink because pure #fffff white looks like shit in huge amounts. She's still meant to read as white. Chrysalis is technically a very dark Greenish-grey, but noone would dispute she's meant to be black
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Common Knowledge is a nitpicking magnet.
I'm not sure if the toy or show came first myself, but Celestia looks more of a pinkish-white to me.
I know bugger all about this show, but if you just dropped that image in front of me and asked me what colour it's supposed to be, I'd say white. The only way you could expect that to be read as pink in a vacuum is if you're trying to pick which shade of off-white you want to paint your walls when redecorating for property value.
Avatar SourceTo say nothing of the fact that it is very obviously not the same shade of pepto-bismal pink as the toy.
She's white. There is certainly is a pink shading, but we don't differentiate 16777216 color names.
"very, very pale" equals white to me. And in fanart she can be literally anything the artist wants.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThe MLP wiki states she's "Light fuchsiaish gray".
There's also that various offical releases (iTunes, You Tube=]) have altered the works colors.
Here's Celesta compared to Rarity, showing she's something different than pure white.
And Celestia's human world counterpart who's color was merely darkened.
But two questions:
- A I right in Common Knowledge not applying as this is subjective (the line between white and very light pink) as opposed to objectively incorrect?
- Might Mandela Effect apply as it seems many misremember her as pure white?
Celestia is definitely meant to be read as white. The difference between she and Rarity is very slight (it's hard to even see a difference given that Rarity's hair obscures any overlap). It's hardly Common Knowledge because it's an incredible nitpick, not a factual error.
I also wouldn't say it's the Mandela Effect. Looking at these pictures, Celestia is white enough for my brain to classify her as white. I certainly don't look at her and think "ah, yes. Pink."
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAgree that it feels like a nitpick. Characters like Celestia, Rarity and Shining Armor are all meant to be seen as white even if their exact coat colors are slightly different from each other.
THE GOLDEN AGE WILL RETURN AGAIN!Equestria Girls changes character colors a lot when they'd look off-putting on human skin (like Big Mac not being beet red), so I don't take it into consideration when considering pony Celestia's color. I just color-picked her and she's straight-up white, like #FFF 7 FF. In fact Rarity's coat is darker. I think at best they use pink for outlines/shading.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
CommonKnowledge.Western Animation:
I believe Common Knowledge only applies to things obvious to those who watched the work, which isn't the case if you need to so alter/edit the screencaps. Also, here's Celestia:
Am I right in assuming that saying she's white as opposed to very very light pink is splitting hairs as opposed to outright error?
