Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
For starters, your writeup has grammatical errors ("it's" instead of "its", three times).
Secondly, Twitter is highly unreliable when it comes to gauging receptions, because people tend to knee-jerk over anything there. For them, all DLC characters in SSBU were bad because none of them were Crash or Waluigi, and you'd never tell how well-received the likes of Banjo, Steve, Sephiroth or Sora actually were. I'd check dedicated web forums, Youtube videos and the like to see how the game holds up. And depending on the observations, a decision can be made on whether the game is Even Better Sequel or Contested Sequel.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I agree with My Final Edits, twitter is a cesspool.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Is Twitter the only place where this opinion is from? Because (1) Twitter is an awful place to get information from, and (2) I have never heard anyone say that Odyssey is bad.
Edited by valozzyI'm in agreement with the other replies here; as a general rule, Twitter is never pleased about anything, but I've only ever heard positive opinions about Odyssey. I'd take Edits's advice and try to find other collaborating sources before making a change like that.
Trans rights are human rights. JK Rowling preaches hate. If you sit at a table with five bigots and say nothing, there are now six bigots.Agreed. I have heard nothing but praise for Odyssey. I didn't even know there was a group of people who hated it.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallI've heard all of those criticisms of the game from non Twitter-rando sources and even agree with some of them, but I don't think it's indicative of fan consensus having changed. Heck, even I would much rather have an Odyssey 2 someday than not, so I have trouble believing there's a genuine tide of heavy dislike for the game.
There are more negative opinions now then there were at launch, (since the hype isn't there anymore) but I wouldn't say it's enough to turn the tide of the game's reputation to the point of, say, Condemned by History. Or in this case, Contested Sequel. Feels like Twitter people are just parroting the opinions of that one Joseph Anderson video (in particular the criticism of "too many moons") as their own.
Edited by harryhenryThese are vocal minority, I'd still say it counts as a Sacred Cow. I know I certainly love it.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midYeah. I've heard the complaint (lots of Moons) before, and in some ways agree with it, but certainly not to the point of being a Contested Sequel.
As for Sacred Cow... I'd almost say its removal is Right for the Wrong Reasons. OP's edit reason for its removal "Game is very frequently bashed and seems to be seen as one of the weakest 3D Mario games nowadays." just isn't true, as this thread indicates. That said, I don't think that, at this point, the game has the sheer fervor required for it to be a Sacred Cow. It's a cow that pretty much everyone likes, but I don't envision fans getting upset at people insulting it.

With how often I see people label Super Mario Odyssey as being mediocre or flat out bad (which I see extremely often nowadays and the consensus I’ve gathered from Twitter is that it’s one of the weakest 3D Mario games) I came to ask if I should remove the Even Better Sequel entry and replace it with this Contested Sequel writeup
