I'm not sure what you mean by "obvious reasons".

If you mean it's too bashy or complainey, then you could take it to the Removing complaining, bashing and other negativity from the wiki thread.

If you mean it's too controversial or flame-baitey, then take it to the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment - Violations, misuse, and other issues thread.

Is it even relevant to the example? I'd be willing to cut it outright just for being shoehorned.

I don't see the "obvious reasons", but I don't think the example fits the trope, it's just a complaint about "fandom trends".

It comes off as Flame Bait because it's suggesting that fandoms as a whole are misogynistic, and claiming this is why the character is disliked as though there's no legitimate reason for it. I brought it up on the ROCEJ thread.

I'm pretty sure that pointing out that fandoms are subject to societal issues isn't aiming the criticism at fandoms.

"fandom trends of gender-based Double Standards in fandoms" is clearly redundant. Fandom trends in fandoms? Well, duh.

We can quibble over the wording but the addition is irrelevant speculation regardless, and I can see how this comes off as agenda-based editing (though it's hard to base that off just one sample edit). Should be cut imo.

I mean.... misogyny in fandom is a loooong-standing problem and loads of female characters are despised for the simple crime of being female and (usually) "coming between" the fandom's favorite pair of pretty white boys, so....

Even if that is true, the example is too general and seems to accuse the fanbase of misogyny for the crime of not liking a single female character.

I also dont think a generalised attack on people like that is allowed in general on a ymmv page.

^^^ Hence why I said "irrelevant" and did not comment on if it is true or not. The entry is about documenting how a lot of fans treat this specific character in fanfiction.

While what is said is true, I personally don't see how it is relevant to this specific entry as it is trying to comment on general stuff while a Die for Our Ship entry is suppose to be a specific example.

Right, exactly. Regardless of how true it is, it has nothing to do with the trope.
